How you doing all, i was at my mates house a few nights ago who is an arsenal fan,
He put on a dvd of an arsenal v man utd games back when keane and viera were in their prime, bought back a lot of memories and to be honest they were my favourite games of football ever.

what a game we were in for back then, 11 top players v 11 top players, good keepers; brillant defence, good hard tackling in midfield with plenty of skill in there as well, and up front some brillant strikers.

Then we watched the programme when keane met viera and there was some respect between the 2 of them, and what a team they picked out of the 2 teams.
The sad thing about it is we will never again see the likes of them ever again.
Great memories i must get them on dvd myself.

Leahy,
Totally agree mate. Massive rivalry over the years between Fergie and Wenger and Utd and Arsenal, epitomised by the tenacity of Keane and Vieira.

Funny enough, since Keane and Vieira left, neither team have managed to reach their pinnacle.

Two massive losses.

Those were the days of both clubs playing attacking football based on speed and power, how I long for those days to reappear!

Leahy, out of curiosity how would your Arsenal and Man Utd combined 11 look? Only taking players from that era.

The best times in both our clubs history! Also the best games in the premier leagues history. Both those two teams at the time made the premier league the world watched juganaught it is today.

I am not a great fan of Wenger's 'socialist' wage policy. For too long we have given long contracts to very average players on high wages. The latest example is Jenkinson who still has 3 and half years on his deal to run on high wages, which clearly makes it difficult to sell him, as the clubs he is suitable for don't pay the sort of wage he is on and many want relegation clauses to reduce wages quite severely if relegated. Bendtner was another example and I'm sure there are many others.

The problem is that then we are unable to fund the wage demands of players such as Ozil and Sanchez, when their contracts need extending. We need to sell players to receive funds towards new acquisitions. We currently have or need to sell; Szczesny, Debuchy, Jenkinson, Sanogo, Campbell, Wilshere, Chambers, Mertesacker (why did we extend his deal? ) , etc.

Couldn't agree more. I reckon last few years artera, flamini, rosicky, diaby, per for next season, wilshere, Jenkinson, debuchy. Think of all that money wasted in players we should've Let go earlier than we have or will. It's discraceful. Tell you what I like per don't get me wrong but I reckon he must be on 80k a week and we don't really need him next season. How bout not renew his contract and use that money and reduce ticket prices a bit for the ones who really care about our club loo.

Totally agree RG. Surely the club know that by paying wages over a certain level it makes that player unaffordable to most clubs in Europe. Great if they turn out good but you get left holding the baby if they don't, such as Bendtner. Sadly it doesn't even stop us losing our best players, as if Barcelona or Real Madrid come knocking we lose our good players anyway, whatever their wage.

I do agree but if the players you mentioned turned out to fulfill their potential they would be viewed as bargains, you win some you lose some. There is still enough money to pay the higher wages, we just choose not to.

R.G. I see you are confident of smashing hull on Saturday, it's a shame you are not so cocky when you play the big boys when you go missing every time. Did you see Paul merson on tv this morning when he said only Alexis Sanchez would get into Tottenham team was music to the ravers ears.

Oh dear raver, making a fool of yourself again. I think you will find Merson isn't the brightest spark in the world and is often wrong when predicting. It's funny that the Toot are so amazing that they got knocked out of the CL in the group stages, messes your Thursday night bingo with mummy up. They went out the League Cup in an earlier round than Arsenal. They are only one win ahead of Arsenal at present in the league. The two first elevens are pretty even, but the Arsenal squad is far stronger. Little task for you, count the honours won by the Arsenal players in their careers and compare it to those won by the toot players. You still cowardly haven't listed the huge haul of trophies won by the toot in your lifetime and compared them to this won by Arsenal during the same period. As you well know the pain at the lane just goes on. 1961 and waiting.

We all know that even if Arsenal finished bottom of the Premier League Spurs would still somehow contrive to finish below Arsenal.
Food poisoning in 2006 or 10 man Newcastle 5 Spurs 1 last season.
I almost forgot the year AVB said Arsenal were on a downward spiral or the year Spurs were 8 pts ahead of Arsenal with about 12 games to go and leading 2-0 at the Emirates. That game ended 5-2 our way and we finished easily above you.
Also if Pochettino's Spurs are so good then they still need to get more points in a year than Harry Redknapp's Spurs of a few years back when you were one man team - Gareth Bale is probanly the only Sours player in the last 10 years that is good enough for Arsenal.

Having listened to Erasure for ages but they are making me feel a bit happier about Arsenal.

Sometimes we get so frustrated by Wenger and his shop of fools - I know Steve thinks it doesn't have to be like that and that ithe Wenger lovers are a victim of love but we are just waiting for the day for us to win the league ago.

Yes it looks like a circus act at times but I am sure Wenger will take our blues away & take us to glory again. Despite our differences we will always be Gooners and that's a reason to be happy.

Boy do I want to taste success again and I can hear Wenger and the boys singing "take a chance on me" 😉 I know I can hear you Steve - yes I am crazy but I went back in time listening to a happy band and back then we were a really successful and big club. Now we are pretty successful club who plays nice football at times 😭

Hat of to you SY4. Not many people have the balls to admit to liking erasure! Football is now friendly to the LGBTQ community! Keep up the good work.
