Not Arsenal or even football related but Roger Federer how unbelievably good was he today.
At 33 he seems be getting even better in an individual sport where you stand or fall 100% on your performance.

He was awsome. Murray is good, but I don't think he is ever as good as Federer's a+ game.

I'm a big tennis fan, my 2nd favourite sport and have followed it for about 40 years.

Fed is the most complete player I have ever seen, absolute artist with a racket.

Legend.

Just reading an article on diaby. It is so sad. Diaby had such potential and when he's fit he's unbelievable

It is sad mate, there's been a lot of jokes about his fitness over the years but I think most people feel desperately sorry for him.
The money he's made from the game should atleat make life very comfortable financially but he will need help coping with could have been on the pitch but for bad luck.

Would have definitely filled the boots of Patrick Vieira.

Alas, only managed to fill the boots of Patrick Swayze.

Ospina says that a move to Everton is a 'great possibility' on a few web sites

Our loss is their gain.

Have a lot of sympathy for Ospina.
Stepped in, did a great job and now looks like he has been shown the door.

Will be gutted if he goes. Very good keeper, many years in front of him. Keepers are going to be costing a fortune in a few years.would rather we send him out on a Torres - like 2 year loan. And bring him back if we discover that Cech is a dead horse lol

Delph gone to City. Makes me so frustrated when I see things like this. It's probably unfair to say he is going there for the money, but ultimately, due to him being fairly average, he will end up playing few games, loosing his place in the England team, and picking up a big pay cheque.

Expect him to be at Everton :) in a season or two. That or back at Villa.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

10 Jul 2015 19:50:29
Nope, you are correct , he has gone there for the money and a birds eye view from the bench

I was just giving him the benefit of the doubt, but you are probably right!

Can't feel any sympathy for a bloke who will probably be picking up £130,000 per week.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jul 2015 23:06:10
Tbf to him if he stays at villa he faces a relegation battle mid table finish at best or he is involved in a title challenge with higher wages anyone would be insane to turn it down and if he has belief in himself he will be hoping to claim a starting place. But I don't understand how city haven't learnt their lesson after Sinclair, rodwell, Johnson etc

10 Jul 2015 23:29:10
Maybe they will drop David Silva for him

11 Jul 2015 09:09:06
Whatever happened to loyalty in football? Like the legend DB10 had every big team after him whilst at arsenal but he stayed because he loved the club and retired with us. Stevie G stayed at Liverpool where as he could of left earlier in his career for a big money but he stayed loyal, Delph was awarded a new contract last year with more earnings but as soon as someone like city comes along he jumps ship, it's just a bug bare of mine when players do that

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jul 2015 12:36:16
I suspect he signed the extension with villa to help them and included the "release clause" to help him. And it's not for City to learn, they're getting what they need in a homegrown player, but when relatively promising players still join them given what has happened to English players before, it's clearly about the money.

Have a feeling that all the posts wanting a right sided midfielder are way off. Covering Theo ( not in the veterinary sense ) or in my opinion equal to is the Ox with Serge Gnabry as excellent back up. Therefore cover / first choice only needed for striker and CDM. Lacazette and Carvalho for me, job done! COYG

Believable1 Unbelievable0

10 Jul 2015 18:53:44
I think we need a RM as Theo wants to and in fairness deserves to play as a ST and OX said his long term future was a CM ( kinda like Ramsey)

So we either buy a ST and keep Walcott wide, (which he won't like but would probably accept for a WC ST) or we play Walcott down the middle and buy a quality RM

Agree0 Disagree1

11 Jul 2015 03:43:02
If we could get Reus, then get Reus. But buying a player just for the sake of it is pointless, the OX is great down the right wing.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - you only need a striker imo lemon..and your good to go mate..

11 Jul 2015 08:06:00
Totally agree with ED. We need a striker only

I think he's waiting for the window to close without Arsene buying a striker before he will commit himself, he wants to play down the middle or leave for a club that will accommodate his wishes.
Personally I have always thought he could be an excellent striker and if he is ever going to forfil his potential its playing there.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Jul 2015 18:55:23
In fairness proved he could do a job there in last two games for us and unless we could buy a WC ST he might as well be given a chance

If rather play Theo down the middle then but Lacazette

Though we have a good strike force, I'd still sign a strike just to avoid problems when injuries set in. I don't want to see arsenal struggling this seasom

Currently pretty confident that we will start better than next year. Think Wengers keeping his powder dry currently, but would love to see some movement soon. We must have saved a fair amount on wages, and with only Cech so far have plenty in the kitty.

Still need that Coquelin cover/upgrade, and a centre forward that will consistently stay fit and score goals.

Also think there is a chance that Carzorla is going, but i expect a massive replacement in Isco.

Question gents is cech our marquee signing for this season or is that one on the way

Believable0 Unbelievable0

10 Jul 2015 09:42:57
Cech is an masiive upgrade on any keeper we have had in years so will improve us beyond question and I think Arsene is only interested in players who can do that, improve us beyond question and we can get at a price Arsene is happy to pay.
He's very happy with Le Coq Walcott and Giroud and will only be tempted by players he's totally convinced can do better than them.
I know we all have players we think would do well but its what Arsene thinks that matters.

G62,

I agree that Arsene still has ultimate say, but I think IG and the Board have started to influence transfers a little more and want Arsenal to get one marquee signing a summer.

Wenger will ultimately determine a list of suitable players, but IG and the Board will force Wenger to part with more cash than he might otherwise like to ensure a signing.

I think the new mentality at the club is - now that the stadium debt load is reduced - grow the international fan base by acquiring well-known players and hopefully, winning boatloads of trophies. (TBH I think most fans, even traditional fans, are okay with that idea).

I do not think Cech is our marquee signing - although, a great signing he is and may get us more points than whoever we end up getting. I also do not think a dm is our marquee signing - although I want us to sign one.

The last two summers Arsenal signed Ozil and Sanchez. I imagine another attacking player will be our marquee signing. I think generally, they sell more jerseys and are better known internationally, which will appeal to the money men. BUT if the Board and Wenger want Pogba by all means (lol)

I do not think we will get the player until late in the window, as to buy a big name player you are probably buying from a big team (Ozil - Real, Sanchez - Barca). So, we need the other teams to do their shopping first (although, I realize Barca cannot really shop they still bought Turan and tried to buy Pogba - before an election). Plus we need to shift some deadweight and then negotiate large wages with said new player.

Like Arsene always said most of the high-end shopping is done 48 hours before the close of the window. I imagine, late August is when we will get our marquee signing, but I would be glad to be proven wrong.

According to a well known red top news paper
"Netherlands international Van Persie says he is leaving after three years at Old Trafford because he feels "betrayed""
How ironic!
Now you know how we felt Mr. Rvp!

It's going to be an exciting season for us gooners.
We now have a top international keeper. 8 decent defenders. A re-born Coquelin. Plenty of midfield options. Pacey wide options and decent strikers.
2 signings, a defensive midfield player, Vidal would be my choice and a wide left player, Di Maria would be my choice and we would have a great squad.
It's difficult to pick the top starting eleven!

agree with Dags great post and loving the optimism, but don't get the wide left comment, Sanchez has played there all season?

Wide right if Theo is going to play upfront this season is surely the area we will need to buy for or if not then a forward.

bug as great post, more of this going into the season
