Does anyone have any insight to what formation we will start with next season? With the pursuit of lemar i can't see everyone fitting in the 3 4 2 1 formation. If sanchez stays i can't see wenger paying 50 mill plus for a squad player if sanchez goes i don't think ozil and lemar provides enough goals behind lacazette. Also i can't imagine two such left footed players being as effective. Any thoughts?

3 5 2 ( Aguero and Lacazette up front ) , Kjaer to replace Holiding with Matuidi / Cavalho in CM and ACM Ozil.

Isn't Sanchez right footed but just prefers to play on the left so as to to cut in on his right foot?
I'm not sure Lemar will join us at all but if he does it will be to replace not play alongside Sanchez imo that is.

11 Jul 2017 14:16:58
So, for instance say lemar joins us and sanchez says, ok I've changed my mind, I want to stop and fight with this team what do you think would happen.

Any chance of mbappe on two year loan if he signs for Madrid with a massive clause to buy at end. He'd get first team football (especially if sanchez goes) , get to learn under wenger and can go back once Ronaldo starts slowing down a bit. Obviously signing him permanently would be better but would stop us being used as stepping stone club.

Believable1 Unbelievable7

10 Jul 2017 11:53:12
Wouldn't that still make Arsenal into a stepping stone club? And in this scenario Arsenal stand to make no profit from selling him on either. Why would the club want to produce Reals Ronaldo replacement for basically free haha. And why a "massive clause to buy at the end"? Only way Real wouldn't take him back was if he turned out to be a flop and if that happened why would Arsenal want him, especially for a "massive" fee.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jul 2017 11:57:04
Ain't been on in a while, but oh my daze, are you for real? Do you understand the premise of of a stepping stone club? You just made it p*ss easy.

Any chance of a rashford 2 yr loan because he ain't in the first team? Can learn from wenger and leave for nothing, what about Asensio, he ain't a starter let's get him on loan too, only if Chelsea buy him first then we can get him to learn from wenger too. πŸ‘πŸ».

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Jul 2017 14:32:26
I'm not saying I think it will happen. I'm simply saying if the opportunity came up to have him for two years or not at all then imo we should take it. As for developing the next Ronaldo for Madrid we do that for other clubs anyway at least this way we know we are going to get stabbed in the back . The massive fee would have to be big but anyone if for sale at the right price, if Madrid bought him for 120 the clause was for say 200 and we paid his wages for two years that seems like a good bit of business on their half. We also wouldn't be a stepping stone club, If he came and won the league and champions league with us, anything after that would be a sideways move or a downward one.

Ox as Cazorla long term replacement?

I think if we were to stick with this 3-4-2-1 going into next season. Xhaka and Ox could be a good, dynamic midfield duo. Ramsey, Coquelain and Elneney serve as good back ups.

Ox needs more game time and if he's considered as a CM and a back up RWB to Bellerin when he's injured then he'll play plenty next season.

I think given his workrate, dribbling and range of passing he could excell as a CM.

I agree with giving the Ox Cazs job but I just don't see Arsene seeing things that way.
George loved dropping and subbing Merson and Arsene seems to have the same thing with the Ox in my opinion.
I think take the money let the Ox go to Liverpool and Arsene buy someone who he thinks can be a regular in Cazs position is the answer that works for everyone.

Can't see it bwois, the guy ain't got the technique or mentality to wriggle outta them tight spots like the boss. Shame for his horrible injury, Jorginho of Napoli could replace caz, I'm struggling to find more suitable options. Elneny definitely ain't the answer though.

Agree I don't see it because of your reasons and he's always injured at some point. Big problem for all our injury prone players.

Give Liverpool the Ox plus Β£20m and get Coutinho.

Hello Eds.
Suggestion please.
What about this next to the names you make it compulsory that people have to leave their age e:g LANESRA 60.
That way we can make allowances for some of the posts people put up.
If someone puts up for e:g JOHN 25 and it turns out that they are only 15 then at least you wouldn't feel guilty in being a bit harsh in your reply to their posts. I'm always conscious that some of the stupidity could be written by a kid.
I know it's not fool proof but at least you know you have tried.
What do you think.

Why not just add gender, some likes and dislikes and turn this into an Arsenal dating site where Malaga and Gunnerbod get matched and have little Arsenal supporting puppies.

Who cares how old people are? If you see a post you don't like just ignore it and move on to the next one.

P. S. I seriously thought Ed002 was female when I first started coming to this site.

I for one am fed up with all this Sanchez rubbish, if he wants to go, just let him go.
He doesn't deserve us as a club, and we as supporters should not lower ourselves to give a rubbish where he goes.
Read what most players who have left Arsenal have said. Its only when you leave, you realise how good the club is. Most people regret leaving. I hope Sanchez is the same. Good Bye.

Although I do believe he wants out you've got to remember it's mostly paper talk. There is nothing wrong with ambition. The more we have like that the better. All he wants is to win things. If we sign some quality players then he leaves then fair enough sod him. But until then people need to chill out.

The squad that went on tour confirmed the certain departures;
Szczesny, Debuchy, Jenkinson, Gibbs, Campbell and Perez. These should raise approx Β£40m.

Players in the final year of their contract; Ox, Ozil, Wilshere and Sanchez. I would expect Ozil may sign as clubs would be unwilling to pay a large transfer fee and match or better the wages on offer. Ox and Sanchez appear to want out and I can't see us keeping them for a year, only to see them depart for nothing. Hence why Wenger is trying to buy Lemar, as a possible replacement for Sanchez and we will have to bring a replacement for Ox. We also need to sort out the Bellerin situation, where we have th upperhand due to his long contract. We can't see Wilshere as he is currently injured. Perhaps he is worth one last chance as a replacement for Cazorla who I can't see playing for s a aging ue to his age and serious injury.

I envisage the following signings;
A replacement for Sanchez, possibly Lemar or Mahrez.
A back up keeper if both Szczesny and Ospina leave.
A replacement for Ox, although Maitland-Niles may be considered or Walcott could be played as cover for Bellerin, but he lacks defensive ability.

Thoughts?

My thoughts are if Ox stayed and played at wing back it wouldn't be long before people got on his back, the lad needs to play regular football and in CM to be all he can be and that means leaving Arsenal.
Theo at wing back would be a huge mistake.
Belerin is excellent for the role we just need decent cover who can do a decent job if Hector is injured loses form of needs a break.
Does this player need to be world class? No because that would cause more problems than it solved, we just need a decent proper full back who is good going forwards.
Send for Joel Ward from Palace, extremely dependable defender who is quite versatile and effective down the line too.
Don't think fantasy football think real life squad building and bringing in a few solid players who see a move to the Arsenal is an honour and are likely to want to work hard and if their chance comes do all they can to take it.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - you like Joel Ward? I think he is awful. Can't defend, no positional sense, weak in the tackle, can't pass, cross or shoot. Only thing he does well is stay fit imo.}

10 Jul 2017 08:38:53
Fair comment Ed001 I think the lad is a decent not brilliant full back who would be decent cover especially in a back 5.
He's been a premier league regular for quite a few years now and lots and lots of Palace managers keep picking him and haven't bothered to replace him so he can't be that bad mate :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - except they keep trying to buy replacements, so he can be they just buy poorly. They bought Martin Kelly as a replacement, but he can't stay fit, for instance. I would hardly say Pardew picking him regularly is a sign of quality anyway. Ward is simply not good enough for the Prem and is a weak link for Palace.}

10 Jul 2017 08:53:41
Ward! Not good enough for Palace, never mind Arsenal! Ox wants to play more centrally, but is clearly an excellent wide player. Walcott could play the wing back role, even though he is defensively suspect, as the three man defence with two defensive midfield players provides decent cover. Although, perhaps Maitland-Niles can cover for Bellerin.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jul 2017 08:56:39
We all see things differently mate personally I think he's a decent ( long way from brilliant) premier league fullback who would make Ideal cover myself.
Totally respect your right to see it differently though.

RG how long has Ox been at Arsenal mate? What's his longest run in the team? Of the games he's started how many has he finished? What is his position in the Arsenal squad?
At 23 there shouldn't be so many questions about a player who has been with us so long we don't know the answer to.
In my opinion and that's all it is the Ox needs to go where he is treated as a mature footballer not an up and coming kid anymore and where the new manager has a plan and position in mind to get the very best out him.
I personally think he's wasting his career with us simply because he's seen as having time on his side and is someone who should be patient and not expect to be a regular yet.

Why can't chambers be cover for bellerin.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jul 2017 11:36:30
Don't think we need any cover for the rb/ rwb position as we have maitland-niles, mustafi, gabriel, holding, chambers and ox (given that he stays obv) who have all covered or played in that position before. It's lb/ lwb where the squad might be short with presumably just monreal and kolasinac to cover two positions if Wenger want's one of them at lcb. Granted ox could put in a shift like in the FA-cup final and holding played lb a few times at bolton but that feels sub-optimal.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jul 2017 11:43:51
Forgot about that guy Cohen Bramall that was signed in january, he's a lb. Sure he came from non-league but every career has to begin somewhere. Will be interesting to watch during tour but if he's not up to par then surely Gibbs will have to stay or someone has to come in?

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jul 2017 11:46:30
Might get more than 40 mate I hope 10 million each for shezza Gibbs Campbell and Perez easy i think can't wait for lemar.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jul 2017 14:41:51
Coquelin will probably act as more of a utility player this season and cover both wing back positions when required. He had an excellent run at right back a few years ago but he does seem to pick up more injuries there due to the demands of the role.
If this is indeed the plan then a central midfield signing seems even more likely.
Also, Maitland-Niles will be prove to be an excellent squad player this season I reckon.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jul 2017 18:22:32
i would rather play with 10 men than have walcott at rwb. would be expecting about 70 from those lot, RG.

20+ for szczesny
20 for perez
5 for debuchy
release jenkinson?
10 for gibbs
10 for campbell.
