Just enjoying the Real Madrid vs Shalke game on TV, cracking game. However the single most important question, is Isco the worlds smallest footballer? Every time I see him I think that Real forgot to ask their mascot to leave the pitch at kickoff. Surely he has to be substituted soon, as his mum says it's past his bedtime?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

10 Mar 2015 21:42:29
How good a game was that, Schalke couldn't have done more and nearly snatched it at the end.

Hope the Monaco game is that good.

10 Mar 2015 21:42:49
i know us arsenal fans can be petty with players like Andre Santos and squillachi and wanting to get rid of them, but the bernabeu booing the likes of bale? is he their andre santos?

i wonder if he is going to be sold this summer, and if any teams have approached real for him.

Banbury i'm not sure that it is a new era for us, lots to improve on, and we are improving, slightly, with the odd blunder thrown in. But I do think it is a new era for man u. I thought they were nailed on for top four, but now, if they get in top four, it will be by default, because a lot of teams are better than them, they have been gett ing results on the back of who they are not what they are. Interesting all the same.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

10 Mar 2015 23:26:04
I think Man U have benefited by playing average teams for the past few months and they have even faltered there which is why their run in is appalling and if they finish in the top 4 i will be amazed. They are poor, very poor!

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Mar 2015 00:46:08
Steve this season has seen us improve our away form against the bigger boys, no one can deny that .

Sport is as much about mental belief as anything else, for that reason I believe it is a new era

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Mar 2015 06:57:33
If anything its a new era for utd, quite how people think they are nailed on for a top 4 finish is beyond me, they will only finish top 4 if the others ***k up. Its not in thier hands. I repeat they are a poor team, simple.

Should we pay the dybala release fee?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

10 Mar 2015 20:41:01
According to reports we've agreed a £29.5 million fee but I'd take that with the usual pinch of salt.

He's 21 scored I think 12 so far this season, left footed skillful and loves to take players on. Not bad at free kicks and penalties. As a young Argentinian he obviously gets compared to Messi but that may well be pushing it. Small and technical, Wengers kinda guy.

Definately quality though and wouldn't say no.

A replacement for Campbell and or Podolski.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Mar 2015 21:52:40
id love to see dybala play for arsenal, however he seems to be angling for a move to city or barca so can't be good news for us, even if we get him he will want out.

also he seems to only use his left foot and seems very weak with his right. if we can offload, campbell, poldi, sanogo, along with diaby, flamini and spend our budget on Schneiderlin and dybala id be happy to call that a summer and look forward to next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - there is still a lot to look forward to this season lakes..

11 Mar 2015 06:26:20
True Ed normally by this time of year knocked out from all cups and struggling for top 4. Not much different but possibility of one cup

I defo agree us winning at city was a change, but utd honestly they are poor and have been frm the past 3 seasons. The remaining 6 is anyones guess we have been poor, so have our tactics. Now when anyone plays against them they feel there is a chance. The league table for them i am sorry is a lie, they are at best 7th same as last season. They got DDG to thank alot.

Anyone remember Raver calling Wembley Spur's second home? Funny that. Come April 18th we will have played there 4 times in the space of a year. (2 FA Cup semis, FA cup Final and Community Shield)

Looks like you just rent it out once every 5/6 years. Pretty sure Wembley is our second home, mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i agree raver..

10 Mar 2015 21:13:25
Me too the semi at Wembley detracts from the final its self devalues the trophy a bit, if we ever want the fa cup to be as special as it once was we need to start treating it special again.
Not playing league games on final day and marking the final the last game of the season again were a big steps plus the BBC are doing a very good job of covering it especially with this years final having an all day TV coverage again and next seasons semi's at neutral grounds would be another big step forwards or backwards if you like :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Mar 2015 21:16:47

Just a question for all and not strictly Arsenal related but this season and again last there is talk of Messi leaving Barca.

I'm not certain that will happen but the top man at Barca as made comments that people are saying could pave the way for his exit.

Much the same as rumours are that Ancelotti will be leaving Madrid which seems even crazier.

Anyway my question is, realising it won't be to us but would people like to see Messi in the Premier League and do you think he'd have an impact.

Links are with Chelsea and the way they sell and buy I guess it's possible.

It's small steps Banbury, Steve has said one swallow doesn't make a summer and now we have seen two.

I'm sure you more than most want to see a lot more, I know I do but the tide is turning, we all know we need players in the summer but a strong finish is paramount.

It's fantastic to get to the semi final but we have to continue to improve, we did what United normally do to us, but if you recall we played some great football last time out having 23 shots but lost to their two shots on target. Last night they were just poor as usual and we simply beat them. We didn't, in reality have to get out of 2nd gear and the bonus of another trophy less year for them irrespective of what we do is good with me.

They are currently whining and bleating about the ref and every other thing under the sun, they are becoming the new bitters. Noucamp99 showed there are United fans with class, CTR has just shown below, the complete opposite. Could anyone be more bitter in defeat? Much as I appreciated your apology the other week Chris you need to take a leaf of out Noucamps book. (You purport to be better than that fella).

We have a huge game at the weekend and days like yesterday, even though in the cup have to be followed up. A win against the Hammers is a must.

As usual we have a player back and another immediately injured in Chamberlain, no doubt another 4 week absence.

Wenger is making the right choices, Bellerin off as someone already pointed out was something I was screaming for but didn't think he'd do it.

We have Monaco, a semi final, Chelsea and Liverpool and hopefully a final to play before seasons end. It would be good to add to our collection of two swallows.

I am extremely happy we won. It had been a long time since we last won at OT. I think what I feel is a combination of joy and relief, with the relief part being the greater of the two. Agree with Hood to a certain extent, Man U have been poor and we were supposed to beat them. Beating City (which we did) at home and if somehow we can beat Chelsea at Stamford, that is ecstasy stuff. This Man U side is an okay side, but not a special one. let's hope from now on, it's them that are afraid of us

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Mar 2015 14:03:22
There is something very odd about u red dog, very odd indeed, very strange, u have this severe inferior complex and I can't really see where that stems from tbh? StevieK (noucamp) is a very good poster u won't see any arguments from me there. But it does seem with u that anyone that dares tap that "everything is great about arsenal bubble" of yours gets a very bitter and childish response which once called out on u attempt to try and pass off as banter. Believe me I'm not the only person that has said this.

please tell me is it the fact U can't get this larkin that portrays u this way or is it u are just this way Because I'm genuinely worried bout u mate.

Because let's be honest it's not just me that gets this from u, u have turned on your own at various times too, all seemingly because they won't go along with your "every about arsenal is perfect' notion that when u win u tell them (I can't say the same about when u lose as u disappear quicker that dynamo then).

P.s I tell u what, if arsenal didn't get out of second gear your club has REAL problems! One that arsene won't be able to spend his way out of this time.

When's the DVD realease?

Chris, did you just insinuate that Arsenal are a club that regularly use their massive budget to buy their way out of trouble? That would be funny even if it wasn't coming from a Man U fan (£200m in the summer was it? And LVG wants another midfielder) :P

10 Mar 2015 17:04:01
Chris,

Every man and his dog could see your message and it wasn't the best, Steviek simply applauded us and left it at that.

If you read my posts you'd know I'm honest in my thoughts on Arsenal, I'm not one to complain about our lot and get frustrated with those that moan, nothing more nothing less, but I still get where they're coming from. We have been through a lot.

To say that we were gifted both goals, that Coquelin isn't all that, the ref was weak and blame Valencia is poor form mate. You didn't get the victory you expected and clearly didn't like it.

Did you read any posts on here slating Monaco players, blaming the ref or making excuses, no we were poor and got what we deserved.

There were two goalkeepers playing in that game, one had a single save to make from Di Maria the other was pulling off a number of top drawer saves.

You have to take the bad times until the good ones come back, ed02 has told you and others about it numerous times. We have had 9 years of bad times, you're on your 2nd.

Like I said before this is the Arsenal page, I guess we have become used to the ribbing but if you don't like what is posted and I'm not the only one who posts then don't read the page. The vast majority on here if not all, know where we are, they don't butter it up and give their honest opinions.

We are taking nothing for granted, we are seeing a new side to our team this season and part of that involved defeating you and City.

I've no idea how your season will pan out but you have a mass of dead wood, top players not performing or rumoured to want out and Van Gaal who seems to be going against everything United fans believe your club stands for.

I have zero wish in falling out with you and it's good to have others on here but sometimes a bit of class as shown by Steviek goes a long way. Your team showed little of that last night which is so far from any United side I've seen.

10 Mar 2015 17:41:43
It's called banter dog, BANTER! and its an honest opinion that I thought Coq was average at best. I don't see how that is in anyway shape or form classless? We got in behind u enough last night to totally convince me that if we're a confident team we would of put a few away.
Coq did not close down space and to often found himself out on your right-hand side away from play.
Where was he for Rooneys goal? It was not a mistake but for your DM to be nowhere near the danger area is not good. Wazza found 3 yards in your 6 yard box to pick his spot. ADM got in twice and if it wernt for shez doing his job at the near post would of scored. Fellani had a few chances too.
I don't quite get where this one save came from and tbh DDG was called into action after our team was reduced to 10. Hardly surprising when we are chasing.

On the bellerin challenge it was a second yellow. Full stop. Wenger knew this and learnt from the Wilshire incident a few years back and hooked him quick. I have no problem with a ref taking his time, listening to your players cases and 'managing' a game to not ruin what was an entertaining game. I just wish ADM would of been afforded that luxury too but it seemed to me it was a rash decision from a ref that has no problem with Hart putting his head into his but the moment ADM dared question his accusations of cheating (and he was right in his assumptions) he doesn't want to know and wants nothing to do with the situation anymore. I don't agree with putting hands on a ref but in fairness it was hardly violent and only being given a yellow for that tells me Oliver thought the same. So again why the rash yellow for ADM but good game management for bellerin?

I think u have totally took my post one way ignoring the fact I was congratulating u. But I'm not going to sit here and say I think u deserved it 100% when I don't think u did. It was a 50/50 game which u won. U will get no qualms with me about us losing it happens and I'm to long in the tooth to not think there will be plenty of good days ahead for us. But to be labelled classless just because I don't agree with u is in itself indeed that.
I would turn u back to your amazing post a week back and then ask u to make a comment.

10 Mar 2015 18:44:37
Chris,

Everyone has opinions and you were saying the same stuff on your page so it was obvious you had the hump, I wasn't the only one that noted it from your post on here.

To come on after the game like Steviek did is when you show class, no hidden agenda because that goes on all day long. Raver has just come and done as Stevie did, a simple well done.

You are more than capable of having genuine banter and I have no snags with it but it was obvious like I said you had the hump. It's life.

As for the game, Szcz made one save of note, the one from Di Maria and the only class save DDG made after Di Maria moment of madness was the one from Sanchez. We played exactly as we played City and Sanchez and two others were responsible for covering Di Maria when he made the cross and Coquelin would not be doing Koscielny's job.

Stats show Coquelin won 10 from 10 duels with Felacio and is currently the best DM in the league and was given MOTM so I don't get where you're coming from mate.

Stats also show we had more shots and more on target last night.

Sorry Stevie don't want to get you a bad rep as being a gent.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Mar 2015 18:59:22

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Mar 2015 20:48:54
Ahhh 337, I had u as the better joker and now CATCH u using my gags? Tut tut.

Red u are wrong, all my opinions are exactly the same as last night mate, my mind has not changed one bit. I still feel u were lucky to have kept 10 on the pitch and I still feel ADM in the circumstances was delt with very rashly.

As for coq, well ddg got motm in the Newcastle game and made 2 saves. I don't tend to listen to what people tell me about football I watch it and make my own opinions of it, u should try that buddy.

The stats are so irrelevant too, does it also tell u how many games coq has played in the league compared to Matic or any others? Because going by that notion Tim Sherwood should be Madrid manager not villa because he's record is 60% win ratio and cleverly well he should be heir to Xavi with his pass success rate.

It's easy to spin things your own way to make your argument stack up, but u already know this mate. At half time we were the better team and most agreed, up Untill Toni's horrendous error were comfortable, that does not mean we were going to win but in a game that was lacking control we were the most comfortable up untill that point.

But again I'm far from classless just because I did not come on and kiss your chocolate star fish and tell u how amazing u were because I'd be lying does NOT make me that, I came and congratulated u put my side across and had a little banter to boot! Quite simply the fact u continue to say that without understanding my point makes u exactly that.

I personally think that's fair and just incase u missed I will say it again.
Congratulations on the win mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Mar 2015 21:13:11
Chris I watched the game and form opinions myself, simply because Bellerin committed a foul doesn't make it a book able foul.

Di Maria got sent off in this game, no other and had to go.

You get caught up in crowd noise giving the impression we are under the cosh when you were doing your usual huffing and puffing, possession with no end product.

I said the inform DM not the best thing since sliced bread. You are endeavouring to make out United were hard done by. To deny he had a good game and is playing well is seriously ridiculous.

We battered you at the Emirates and lost 2-1 that's the way it goes, not matter how much you try you cannot make a silk purse out of a sows ear and United are simply awful.

We can all moan about what could have been and if we hadn't let in 8 goals we'd have won 2-0.

The sending off to me had little bearing on the outcome, you lost a game simply because you were not good enough to win and we kept you out.

My opinion mate, it happens to be right and I'm sticking to it. ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Mar 2015 21:59:07
Ok then.

Can't really argue with your opinions and to be honest since u seem to petty to take back your classless comment even after now knowing u were wrong I won't deal with u from now on we will just have to agree to disagree I guess.

There yours and to be honest there now in that bubble u have created so I shall not make the mistake of touching that as I know how this finishes with u and I can't be bothered tbf.

I don't feel we were hard done by and am not claiming that at all, again more assumptions from u that u have now convinced yourself I'm claiming.

But all I'm doing here is going round in circles with u now, so we shall end it here in a somewhat more civilized manner that we have both be guilty of not doing in the past.

Good win. Good team performance. Hats of to Nacho and Danny for scoring. Le Coq immense once again

Can someone tell me why Ospina did not play yesterday? He didn't even make the bench. Surely he must be injured

Believable0 Unbelievable1

10 Mar 2015 11:23:27
Not necessarily, Wenger often likes to use his second keeper for cup matches, even big ones against good teams. After Szczesny's performance last night, I hope Ospina isn't injured.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Mar 2015 10:41:11
Gotta give all the keepers a chance, we've got three very capable keepers at arsenal now

Agree0 Disagree1

10 Mar 2015 12:26:09
Szczesny is becoming a massive liability now. I find it hard to believe that he can perform so poorly, flap at crosses, and come out for balls that he has no right to claim, and still act so cocky and arrogant.

The amount of times the ball goes back to him and he takes a touch when he's being pressed by a striker is ridiculous! He was lucky not to cost us the game at times last night with those unnecessary touches when Opsina would be like 'AVVITT!!' and just lash it first time.

He needs to stop thinking he's the Messi of keepers and just play with a no-nonsense attitude If he's wants any chance of keeping the Number 1 shirt next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Mar 2015 12:42:29
I thought Szeszency had an alright game, he may have flapped at some crosses, but Ospina would have got nowhere near them. Ospina brought in to challenge Szsezency. i'm still undecided who should be no.1.

10 Mar 2015 13:44:42
Fair comments. I see both sides of it. My issue is that Szczeszney was clearly going through a bad run of form and pretty much has been since this season started, made worse by a lack of playing time with through injury before Xmas, so at present, I still don't feel comfortable with him between the sticks. Don't think many fans do. I felt prepared to give him as second chance for the Brighton game and he had me in a panic for the last 10 mins. That said, there's got to be some reason he kept so many clean sheets last season. He's not a bad keeper. He's just very prone to spells of good and bad form, so I feel he needed the run-out (and the win!) at Old Trafford as much as Welbz needed to get his name back on the score sheet.
Still, his ball distribution was really poor and could've cost us. Keepers do need game time to develop or redevelop form, but he'll be unlikely to get half an hour coming off the bench towards the end of the game, so I say we keep playing Ospina for now, maybe offer Wojciech the chance to prove himself again out in Monaco, and then review the situation in the summer (including considering possible purchases).

Loads of respect to the Man united fans who applauded Danny off the field last night, they remember he didn't desert them for money but was surplus to requirements.
To those utd fans who booed him! Your the reason eveyone wants you religated and the whole country will celebrate like crazy if you miss out on CL football again.

Great win last night. We have now beaten Man C & Man U away, by sitting deep. Perhaps, at last Wenger is aware that you can't blast top teams off the pitch with all out attack. In both matches we had less possession, but scored more goals.
Mertesacker looks so much more comfortable defending deep. You simply cannot play him in a high line against the better teams. The same goes for John Terry at Chelsea, who looked hopeless under AVB's high line.
I thought it was a solid team performance last night.
I doubt we can beat Monaco 3-0 away from home, but we musr give it a go.

Still buzzing from the result (understandably). I was watching it on the BBC and I can't believe that Nacho didn't even get named as a contender for MOTM. Not to detract from Coq's solid performance, but Nacho had a fantastic game.
Keeping the likes of Di Maria, Young and Januzaj quiet must be daunting for a full-back, but his performance was commendable. He wasn't guilty of constantly bombing forward but picked the right moment to - and what a finish! Reminded me of the way he cut in positively at a similar angle at the Etihad (at a similar point in the game too, once Arsenal had eased into it a bit) to draw the foul from Kompany and help put us in the lead. Anyway, there was a definite similarity between his performances in both games. I was concerned before the City match that Navas would give him a torrid time, but Monreal was a worthy opponent. It's clear that he can defend well in the big games but plays best when we maintain that same compact shape and don't all rush forward at once. Gibbs, meanwhile, seems to be the better option in games against smaller teams or often games at home where we aim to dictate the run of play and use his width to get ahead. There's not a lot in it at the moment but I'd say Nacho is the better of the two on current form - definitely the better decision-maker, plus no-one will doubt that his passing is better too! Sadly they're both quite injury-prone, but it's not all bad if each one gets a decent spell every season...
Random observation, Nacho's goal now puts it up to 20 different scorers this season. Just hoping Coq, Gab, Gnabry and Flamini get a chance to add their names to it too. And maybe Ospina while we're at it

Oh, and a question - sure someone will know the answer - does Di Maria's red result in any kind of suspension or does it not matter with Man U out of the tournament?

Believable4 Unbelievable0

I believe it's a 1 match domestic suspension

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Mar 2015 06:50:43
I think he will be suspended for a match or more in PL. Suspensions are above all domestic cups e.g. Evans was suspended for them match due to the spitting incident although this was a game in F.A and the offence happened in a PL game.

Firstly, I'd just like to say that everyone played brilliantly tonight. To me, and to most people, we quite clearly have a much better team than United, but that doesn't mean that going to Old Trafford is in any way easy: the whole team was completely committed and fighting for each other, not to mention outclassing United technically.

Secondly, referees get a LOT of stick. So it's only fair we give them some praise when they do well. I mean seriously fair play to Michael Oliver, there were three separate occasions when he could have given in to the crowd but stood his ground. The first being when Bellerin could have been given a second yellow, but he instead (quite rightly) went and booked Rojo for that horrible previous challenge, then came the Di Maria and Januzaj incidents when many referees would have backed down to the crowd, but again he held firm!

And finally, on a slightly unrelated-to-Arsenal note, as Dags mentioned earlier how good is de Gea? Two of his saves tonight (especially the Sanchez one) were of unbelievable quality. I'm not sure I've ever seen a shot-stopper as good as he is, and in general terms for me he's pushing Neuer for the number one spot now. All I know is (and it's very nice to say this), he's clearly much too good for United!

Whenever one of our players go down injured all you can hear is the song, same old arsenal, always cheating. Now I'm not saying we are perfect but 2 separate utd players dived yesterday. When are they going to get the stick they deserve.

Urgent - missing person

A reward of a miniature FA cup is being offered for a dearly missed person.

He goes by the name of christheredman, and was last seen on the arsenal page, mouthing off and winding up arsenal supporters.

He must be thirsty by now as there are no cups at old Trafford again so he can't get a drink!

That's odd ed, I just checked the other page to mate and its not there either. It defo sent too, maybe ed25 was to busy celebrating his teams win at OT for ages he deleted it :)

I'll take this then as my chance to congratulate the goners. They came with a plan and it just, just, about paid off, by surrendering the play and dropping very deep they didn't allow much room.

I find it somewhat amusing Coq is getting all this praise when for me he wasn't in the game at all. He hardly snuffed out us making opportunities to score and with a more confident utd I'm sure we would of took one.

It's bitter sweet for me because it just seemed arsenal done a Manchester United type performance in this game and got the result that we normally would get Lol.

The turning point for me was the second yellow bellerin should of got but I guess it's not the first time u will see a ref bottle a decision and it defo won't be the last.

Enjoy it guys. Days like these don't come round often for u boys.

Again congratulations.

Slightly backhanded compliments from Chris but we'll take them all the same. People talking about Bellerin's possible red should also consider Rojo's possible one too? I thought it was a dreadfully late foul from behind and I've seen reds given for them.

All in all, very happy today. All my colleagues keep asking me why I have a massive beam across my face :)
