Rumuours doing rounds that tuchel will leave Dortumund at the end of the season. If that is true, i thnik we should pounce. Tuchel is a really revolutionary coach. One that we need because we have stagnated for years.

Heard guardiola wanted to come to Arsenal before he went to bayern but wenger wouldn't step down. I am not sure whether that is true but could be. I don't want us to make the mistakes united did. They never replaced fergie. Not even mourinho is suited to united.

Unless a brigheter younger coach emerges, i think we may have trouble finding a good coach suited to our style. I think tuchel and jardim will manage big teams in future and that will make it harder to get them. We better pounce before it is too late.

Hes off it looks your right. I think Barcelona seem keen. i'm up for appointing him he's a big risk but hey let's see. Allegri or simeone ahead of him tho for me. But i'd thrive on the change and I think the club would. Interesting developments.

allegri maybe considering i expect him to beat real madrid in the final. There is no shame in having a champions league winner as a coach but simeone is a big NO for me. He plays too defensive football and he has been found out. If we can't get tuchel, i think we should go for jardim or allegri.

I like diego he has turned them into winners even tho he has had a small budget compared. I expect him to be at inter milan tho. His man management skills are immense. And if his record screams out being found out then bring it on lol. Anyteam with torres is going to struggle and they never replaced costa imo.

His man management is probably the best in the whole of europe. Players want to die for simeone but tactically he is not that great. Tuchel in my opinion is the best coach tactically after guardiola in europe. His positional play is interesting. At least we will have a coach who wants to attack but who has tactics. Tuchel is a demanding coach. I don't see ozil surviving tuchel's demanding training routines. I think many players will leave arsenal if someone like tuchel comes in. It will be interesting times.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - why do you think Tuchel is the best coach tactically? I always find he tries to be too clever and ends up losing so many games he should have won, which is why they have been struggling all season. Also why he is cleverly diverting attention from his failings by continuing to whine about the club above him and blame them for the Champions League exit, even though he knew exactly what was going on.}

12 May 2017 22:20:56
Ed 001 note i said tactically. i didn't say the best coach because tactics alone don't make a good coach. His man management is lacking in some ways but is he a revolutionary coach? Yes. without a doubt. The job that made tuchel great wasn't at dortumund. it was at mainz. He was basically over-achieving there . Guardiola was apparrently so impressed by tuchel that he reccomended him to the bayern board. He is without a doubt a good coach. He struggled this season because he lost all his best players coupled with the fact that at one point half of the entire first team was out injured, you would expect him to perform less. Tuchel needs to work on his man management though. But tuchel is more suited to Arsenal than let say simeone. Jardim is another interesting coach. Two years ago, he was the most defensive coach in europe now he is probably the most attacking. What does that tell you about him as a coach? That he adapts to his players. Would you rathe have guys of that calibre or someone with no tactics?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - that is not why Tuchel struggled at all. He struggled because he got too big for his boots and thinks he can out think every opponent. He tries to be too clever and that costs him games. As for revolutionary, no nothing revolutionary about him, evolutionary maybe, but not revolutionary. A good coach, without doubt, but he needs to stop thinking he is the be all and end all. Oh and remember you never win a power battle with those who are above you in the chain.}

Ed001i think he is going to get fired at the end of the season. So who would you like to replace wenger? I cann see you are not a big fan of tuchel.

{Ed001's Note - Nagelmann.}

We've a real chance to beat last season's total of 71 points now, 2 wins from 3 still needed though.
Dizzy heights indeed :-)

Eds, I was just wondering if Arsenal are actually looking for a Director of Football? Wenger is saying there's no chance one will come, but is it actually his decision?

There was 'news' today saying that he will be forced to accept changes if he stays. But it seems like he thinks he doesn't have to accept anything.

Do any of you know what is actually going on, or if it is just made up by the press?

Thanks again for your time.

{Ed002's Note - Yes they are looking for a Director of Football and have been since last summer.}

Much as I thought and stated on this site, that Wenger would refuse to work with a sporting director. I believe this may be the reason for the stand off as to whether Wenger signs a new deal. We clearly need someone to fill the role that David Dein played in the past. How on earth have we ended up with Ozil, Sanchez, Ox and Gibbs all having only a year to go on their contracts? If Wenger has, as I believe, total control, then this is very worrying. Whilst other players such as Sanogo, Debuchy, Campbell, Szczesny have remained on the club's books. Indeed, we have extended the deals of Merte nad Santi, when Merte is clearly surplus to requirements and Santi who will be 33 in December has become injury prone, bringing back memories of keeping the likes of Arteta, Flamini and Rosicky who were kept too long at the club. We need a sporting director to fill the gap left by Dein's departure.

Exactly. Although according to ed002 santi's contract has not been extended.

That aside I cannot understand why it seems arsene is dictating things.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 May 2017 17:11:38
Could be wrong but we took the option up with santi a few months ago to extend. A stand off is indeed happening iv thought this for some time. Was told by a coach for the younger age groups at the club. I wrote it on my twitter too some weeks back. Wenger is flexing his muscle but so far results havnt backed him up. No top4 no bargaining power so although before top4 was a must he now says its not as bigger a deal. Hmm.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - His contract runs out at the end of the season.}

10 May 2017 17:22:44
I can confirm that both Camorra and Mertesacker had a one year extension triggered. I found both decisions odd, as we have options at CB and Cazorla has a serious injury and is in his 33rd year.

Agree0 Disagree3

{Ed002's Note - Then Arsenal should inform UEFA about Cazorla (as they did about Mertesacker on January 20.}

10 May 2017 17:42:42
Cazorla has only been paper talk. As far as I can see anyway whereas the sac was announced by the club. They wouldn't announce that and not cazorla. Camorra on the other hand I'm not too sure about him. Il let ed002 explain the case with him :p.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I can only go by the UEFA list and Mertesacker was updated on January 20. Perhaps it is an error.}

10 May 2017 21:49:47
The FA confirmed Cazorla's extension on 20th December. I was surprised as he has a very serious injury and will be 33 next birthday.
