with regard to the JW comments. there seems to be a general feeling that a player should be able to choose based on where he feels is home or how English he feels. Call me Mr Cynical but I reckon he'll make about ten time as much dosh with a England Player on his CV than ALbanian or Chip Eater (sorry Belgian).

Totally agree with jack wilshere

It should be where you or your parents were born like it used to be, plus if some one has spent over half their lives prior to turning 18 in any country then that person should be able to represent the country of most of their upbringing. The chioce should be made within 14 days of being 18 or you are where you were born no waiting for better options

Agree0 Disagree0

G62 I think that sounds very fair to me

There is a difference between someone who plays for a country because they feel like it is their home. E.g. someone like Berahino who fled Burundi for a better life and has a real affinity for England and someone who just can't get in their own national team e.g. Manual Almunia a few years ago when he was mooted. Players playing for England because they aren't good enough for their own country isn't acceptable. That is where the distinction should lie.

Please let us know your opinion of the starting 11, if all players are fit.
Mine:
Szczesny
Sagna Mertesacker Koscielny Gibbs
Flamini Arteta
Walcott Ozil Cazorla
Giroud

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Going by form at the moment my team would be that one but Ramsey instead of Arteta.
Flybo

Agree0 Disagree0

Disagree. Arteta doesn't get near the first XI for me. Did you not watch the WBA game? We were terrible with both Flamini and Arteta because Arteta isn't dynamic enough. Ramsey and Flamini are first choice.

I'm with Flybo, Ramsey for Arteta is an easy one.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with people that want Rambo over arteta

Szezncy
Sagna - Mertersacker - Koscielny - Gibbs
Ramsey - Flamini
Walcott - Ozil - Cazorla
Giroud

On balance that is our best starting XI. Got to agree Ramsey has surpassed Arteta and is better for balance of attack/defence as is Flamini. Caz/Oz/Walcott best variety of pace and technical ability. Giroud only option upfront. Defence and keeper picks itself really.

Yeh with Viviano, Jenks, Vermaelen, Monreal, Arteta, Wilshere, Rosicky, Ox, Podolski we should have no trouble with rotation or injuries in most positions.

On another note, anyine think we really need a new RB? Sagna is really getting on and rumours are he won't sign extension offered to him. From what I've seen of Jenks this year he really isn't ready. You can't question his effort and
determination though. Maybe Pisczech, Cacares, Abate, De Sciglio, Aurier or Montoya next summer? Along with a ST with pace to deputise for Giroud and offer us a plan b. Muriel, Rodrigo, Hernandez, Ibarbo, Giovinco?

Peace out.

RG your team with Ramsey replacing Artetta.

Just what does Ramsey have to do to win over EVERYONE?

Magnumslab made a point lower down that concerned me during the game which was the move by Arsene to put Arteta and Flamini in midfield at the expense of Ramsey.

I felt it definitely took away from what Ramsey had been producing for us. I know sometimes we have to think more defensively and that game ended up were it could in honesty have gone either way.

I'm pretty sure when all fit our best front six will consist of Giroud, Cazorla, Ramsey, Flamini, Walcott and Ozil. With lots of options from Podolski, Arteta, Gnabry, Wilshere and the Ox to rotate.

Am I wrong, was it just that game that suited Arteta's return or is it now a likely line up. I just don't want to see Rambo out on the wing.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think it will pretty much take care of itself- I am sure that Ramsey is in need of either a break or a couple of 60 min games as he is obviously carrying a niggle/injury to his hamstring.
Over the course of the season these midfielders will all be needed for a huge number of Kilometres of hard running on and off the ball- and tiredness/injury will make more decisions than AW as to who will start and where.

Morning all,

Just found this post on the United page which made for interesting reading as I'm now hoping history does repeat it's self and the team that won the title in 1991 is the team that wins in 2014.

Also of note in the 1991 season is that Liverpool were the early season league leaders and Manchester United finished 6th.

Some weird, hopefully just coincidental trivia

In 1988 Liverpool won the league by 9 points.
In 1989 Liverpool had the title snatched from their grasp by a last minute goal.
In 1990 Liverpool strolled to yet another league title.
Liverpool then replaced their successful Scottish manager with another Scottish manager.

In 2011 we won the league by 9 points.
In 2012 we had the title snatched from their grasp by a last minute goal.
In 2013 we strolled to yet another league title.
We've replaced our Scottish manager with another Scottish manager.

Sulei {Ed007's Note - LFC replaced a Scottish ex-Celtic player (KD) with a Scottish ex-Rangers player (GS) and Utd have replaced a Scottish ex-Rangers player (AF) with a Scottish ex-Celtic player (DM).

Didnt leads united win the title in 1991?

Ok. cheers

The first thing the new scot at Liverpool did back then was get rid of the coaching staff (the once famous boot room) and United's new scot has?
Getting spooky

This is history repeating, an end of their reign.
now all we need to do is make the quality signing's in next window and the mantle is ours to rule for the next 20 years.
personally I would like :
striker: benzema
D.M.: gundogan
C.B: zouma

plus I don't believe sagna won't sign a new contract as we are on the cusp of starting our own dynasty
