Would love to see us defend for our lives like Australia did this afternoon - team spirit, team were organised, physical strength and willing to put their body on the line to stop a try.
Hopefully they see that and take it on board - no turning your backs on shots etc

Missing the EPL!

Yes there is a similar game played in the states, slightly less technical and the quality isn't as good but it's great for English players to retire and double the bank balance
I think they call it soccer but it's pronounced sack-coor over there

It's becoming more and more apparent to me that Wenger doesn't think before he speaks, and ultimately doesn't know what he's talking about anymore.

When claiming that he reckons Theo, Sanchez and Olly (dream on Arsene) can bag 20 goals each this season, he said that all of the top strikers today are south American, and that Europe isn't producing strikers of the same quality any more.

Though I agree that as far as youth development goes, it's absurd of him to say that there are no top class European strikers. Zlatan, Lewandowski, Benzema, Lacazette, Morata, Rooney (on his day), Muller, Griezman and Mandzukic to name a good few. In my opinion there is currently an equal number of top drawer strikers from both continents.

As much as I have faith in the players to deliver this season, the manager will always worry me, from his daft comments, to his woeful team selections at times and his knack for ballsing up our tactics... Or lack thereof at times. he's always going to be the reason I have my doubts. I just hope he continues with how he handled United and proves me wrong.

Bit out of the blue CIG, had a bad dream mate! Or do you just get stir crazy in the international break. I hope we don't loose our momentum as well.

Cig

Wenger is no fool. He makes statements that will bring confidence to his players. Yes he wouldn't bet big money on all three bagging 20 goals but what do you want him to say? Oh I think theo and olly are only good for ten each?? This is part of managing a team especially when some players have fragile confidence.
So no wenger does think before he speaks in regard to this topic.

UBI

Not sure how you can say that far too early......just a reminder to you. How did we get on at home to Liverpool???

Look how poor everyone said Fergies squad was when they last won the title.

Players react to managers, Klopp will get more out of those than BR did.

{Ed025's Note - from the united site "you cant polish a turd"...very apt.. :)

{Ed025's Note - its a fair point reet..

Ed in fergies last season he polished lots of turds, in fact you could argue that fergie was a master turd polisher. Every time he stroked his hand down one of those stinking turds a genie popped out

{Ed025's Note - im trying to eat my dinner here growbun.. :)

West Ham beat us at home Ban, so is that them finishing top 4 as well then? I'm talking about their squad, not how they performed in one game. They will not finish top 4, not guna happen.

Liverpool have far to many Europa league standard players to get anywhere close to winning the league or as they stand realistically break into the top 4.
Their heavy on OK players but extremely light on thge real quality needed to carry those OK players anywhere beyond 5th.
Betenke and Lallana are great examples of an OK player brought in at top player money but barely able to carry them self's let alone any one else, Klopp will change this situation by building a side where Benteke Lallana Milner ( like at city) will become the supporting cast not the stars of the show.
Klopp is great for the premier league because he's a very decent respectful funny bloke who knows what he's doing as a Football manager and will raise the criteria needed to qualify for the CL which in turn will make those 3 clubs who do make it will be better equipped to actually challenge in that competition once their there.

Agree with that G62, looking forward to seeing Klopp, think he will be good value. But as we've both said, current squad ain't good enough. How many players do they have that you would put in the 'world class' bracket? I would say zero.

10 Oct 2015 21:01:06
To me Coutinho and Sturridge would seriously compete for a place in our team plus I'd swap Henderson Milner Lucas for Artetta Flamini and Rosicky double quick but that's it.
Olly is now our second chioce striker behind Theo but Giroud is stil a much better player than Benteke.
Klopp has a lot to do but by next season he will be well on the way to doing it.

Look UG although I would not put money on Liverpool getting in the top four, I would suggest the fact that you cannot name a top class player or one that could potentially shine under klopp as daft. How many world class players do we have. And by world class I mean players that would get into a world squad of say 21!? Sanchez perhaps Ozil when he's on it? Liverpool nearly and should have won the leauge a few years back a damn site closer than we have seen in a decade . I know your just 'saying' but it really is early days

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Oct 2015 08:14:55
I would agree grow that we have 2 world class players. But they have none. You need those special players to make the difference. And that's why they almost won the league, because they had Suarez. Look what happened to them since he left. It's my opinion mate, regardless of how many games have been played, I don't think there is enough talent in the squad to finish top 4. Let's see if I'm proved wrong.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Oct 2015 09:00:57
Like I say if I wouldn't put money on it because I think it probably is to far but I'd love them to get fourth over United or Chelsea

{Ed025's Note - i would hate it grow.. :)

11 Oct 2015 10:10:22
If Klopp did clinch 4th this season ( big big ask ) it would be bye bye LVG mourinho Pelgrini or Wenger for certain, any team making way for Liverpool this season would have well under achieved and deserves to be sacked.

10 Oct 2015 07:50:09
Liverpool can have Klopp or anyone else for that matter, but that squad is not strong enough to finish top 4.

10 Oct 2015 08:51:58
Look I think at this stage it's hard to write anyone off. The squad they have might look better once klopp gets into them or they might look worse. I believe they have for once been very smart and got some good business done

For this season it maybe beyond them but next season after the January and Summer windows I think it will be 3 from 5 fighting for the CL places 17/18 is season.
He's not naïve tactically like Rodgers and he will not risk the clubs future like Benitez but I think he will make Liverpool very very competitive very quickly.
He's a top manager and bloke with who I think Liverpool will get back their identity after the silliness of the Suarez Benitez Dalglish Rogers bizarre years where everything was risked and lost in pursuit of short term gain.
Klopp is the perfect fit for them because he has everything they need both on and off the pitch to become a real lasting force again.
