Bad challenge on Walcott, that would be a blow to us if he's injured

And the 24-year-old revealed that Wenger was the major influence in his move to the Emirates, admitting the Frenchman had made him realise his Madrid career was over.

"Arsene told me exactly how he saw me, how he wanted to use me, what he expected of me, " Ozil told Die Welt.

"In some way, that conversation flicked a switch in me and made me realise what I had lost at Madrid - transparency, trust, respect.

"I would have even joined Arsenal for free."

"I told Madrid I had no interest in going to Manchester United"

Ideal scenario would have been the Zombie Apocolypse to have kicked off and we could of wasted a few whilst we waited for the Premiership to kick off again Ed.

Im going to take a long shot here guys and yes you may all slate me but tbh I don't care I feel as if bendtner can be a goid striker for us this year and if he a given a fair chance he will prove us all wrong because the lad can sure finish when he has the chance

Anyone got any ideas on what they think our formation and team will be for Sunderland at the weekend?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sczez
Sagna(Jenkinson)-Mert-Kos-Nacho
Ramsey-Flamini
Cazorla-Rosicky-Walcott
Giroud

Ozil to come on in the second half.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm thinking ozil won't start, regular formation (I think it is 4231 some posters say it is 433) I'm going
sczcesny
sanga koscielny mertesacker Monreal
Wilshire Ramsay
Walcott rosicky cazorla
giroud

Agree0 Disagree0

^ Why would you not start our newest signing/best player?

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't want to rush him into the team

Agree0 Disagree0

Rosicky injured for weekend I read so ozil could be a starter. Class like him can play in any team regardless how long he's been at club. Would be surprised if he didn't start. And Sunderland could be a good start.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rosicky out so wilshire in. Ozil I think will only start if walcott is not 100 percent

First time since 10/11 I generally believe we can challenge for the title and win a trophy. By January if we're still in the mix on all fronts and giroud stays fit we've got to go buy another class striker and then I feel we are capable of finally ending the trophy drought and bringing back the good old days to the mighty ARSENAL!!

This, asumably is providing you don't get any injuries and ozil can hack it in the prem league. as you don't have loads of cover for many positions especially defence, defence mid other than that your starting 11 does look very good indeed

Looking at our squad and it got me thinking, Szczeney 23, Sagna 30, koscielny 28, mertersacker 28, Gibbs 23, Ramsey 22, wilshere 21, Walcott 24, cazorla 27, ozil 24, giroud 26

The age of the squad is balanced now so we have experienced and youthful players. And I really think this team is ready for a trophy, everyone has said how happy they are now ozil has joined.

It's also amazing to see 40 million spent on one player.

We're in a great position to kick on and start winning now, it's just getting that first cup.

In Ramsey news, rumours around saying the Wales armband could be his again soon, I think he could also be our captain soon enough without a doubt a natural leader.

I agree. Still think we are short another world class player (or two). A striker or a Xavi Alonso player to eventually replace Arteta or both and then we are there.

Good post I agree completely with what you say . but I think we are still short a striker and a defender to be honest not that I think Giroud or Kos/Mert are bad its just that we need as close to like for like cover for them to keep up a sustained push for silverware.

As for Ramsey I think this is fantastic news for him he deserves it . This might not be the popular view but I think he will be more important to us than Wilshere this year and next, as much as I love jack his injury record is starting to worry me and so early in his career too, I hope he can take a leaf out of ramseys book and work on himself and become the player that we all know and hope he can be.

Coyg!

Without a doubt a striker short and a centre back too.

A midfielder to replace arteta will be hart to find so maybe Ramsey playing with arteta to tutor him and Ramsey eventually replacing arteta.

Agree0 Disagree0

Midfielder to replace arteta; gundogan maybe?

Agree0 Disagree0

Gundogan would be amazing to have.

Trev, it might not be popular, but I completely agree with what you say about Ramsey. He's a prime example of how hard world and dedication can pay off, he's a model professional.
