Use our rumours form to send us arsenal transfer rumours.

So frustrating looking at the table now and thinking that if we hadn't drawn games with Southampton, Aston Villa, Fulham, Stoke and Sunderland which we really should of won, those 10 lost points would see us in second place.

Believable9 Unbelievable1

Every team can say that about their record

Agree15 Disagree2

If we hadn't of beaten Sunderland, West Ham, and Newcastle we would be about 7th or 8th.

Focus on the games ahead not the one's that have past.

You weren't good enough to beat Saints-lucky to get a draw. Equally, Chelsea weren't good enough to beat Saints and neither were Man. City. Even Fergie admitted Man. Utd were fortunate to beat Saints.
Arsenal have no divine right to beat teams, so try a little realism to flavour your arrogance and understand that you are no longer Barcelona Lite but now more like West Ham United delux!

Monreal was a great signing, but I really think we missed out on both Yanga M'Bwia and Sissoko, we could have got both for about 9 million in total. Not saying these two are world class, but they would vastly improve our depth, in two areas we need more cover. We still need maybe 4 or 5 players before we can really compete. BW

Believable11 Unbelievable3

Great players those two, but we can do better.

ie. Hummels, Subotic, Sakho, Wanyama, Capoue, Fellaini (even though it looks like he's bound for Chelsea).

All my questions regarding the reserves/u21's are being answered right now as I watch Manchester United vs Arsenal (u21's) tonight.

You can find a link for it on first row sports if you want to watch the game. Score Manchester United 2-1 at the moment and players such as gnabry and yennaris and eisfeld, really lacking authority on the game.

I think Caeser (old) out of the rise of the planet of the apes is actually gareth bale's father. And it's ok to monkey chant him cause his dad is a chimp and he's white.

Anyone know the situation regarding Nick Bendtner and his loan at Juventus? Is he returning to Arsenal before the end of the season?

Daniel

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why would he return?

Agree3 Disagree0

He is injured. He returned, but he is not going to be able to play in the current season.

BGGOONER

Agree2 Disagree0

Not really bothered tbh. As long as he don't play for us again after what he said, I don't care where he ends up
Waq

Agree4 Disagree1

I believe he is back as he was injured whilst on loan. and wasn't good enough to wear their kit

As far as I know he's doing just as rubbish in Italy as he did in England lol

Seriously, some of the comments below regarding lack of defensive cover are ridiculous.

Some of these are from the same people who wanted 'deadwood' moved on! There is no way we could have foreseen Kos & TV5 injuries or Jenks red card OK granted Gibbs one was a no brainer, but AW went out and got a world class player there.

Honestly, there is no pleasing some people, Miquel will step up, that's what he is there for, Kos will be back alongside BFG and all will be fine.

Get a grip!

Believable9 Unbelievable9

Are you mad? Just because we wanted rubbish gone doesn't mean we wanted nobody to come in. The whole problem is that those players took valuable squad space and wages. We would rotate far better if we had the players to do it but we don't! It wasn't about shifting Djourou so we randomly saved a few bob, it was so we could bring someone else in who, when relied upon, does a far better job and takes the pressure off the starting pair, and the manager.

Saying things like get a grip is just silly! Think about what you're typing. If you're happy we have 2 and half (depending on the day) good centre backs, one with a chronic lack of pace, then great! But the people who see Chelsea, City and United rotate at least 4 decent CBs, most of whom are way better than ours, are not in need of getting a grip just because we aren't happy with the way the manager makes everything so hard for himself and the rest of the team!

Metal Gooner

Agree6 Disagree21

Metal gooner, saying things like 'think about what you are typing' is just silly. This is coming from the same person who said diame was a great player. Come on now.

Agree11 Disagree2

I would love to know what people are disagreeing with? Enlighten me? All that has been said on these pages for the last 2 years is how we need to shift the poor players and bring in better ones. Now it seems people have become so accustomed to a lack of signings that simply loaning some of the worst players every to play for us is good enough, when now really we're just short. You know when our best 1 lines up, we have no striker on the bench? In defence man united have Jones, Vidic, Smalling, Rio and Evans - we have Verm, Kos and Mert. It is no coincidence that they can maintain a challenge for the course of a season yet we cannot.

And how can you disagree with the notion of the manager making things harder for himself? Our lack of depth, and confusing manager, makes up 90% of the chat on this forum so please enlighten me as to what is disagreeable?

Thanks in advance!

Metal Gooner

Agree1 Disagree9

Metal, wind your neck in and name the 4 top class centre backs you talk of at Chelsea and united?

Agree7 Disagree0

60 percent of what you say is usually rubbish, maybe people just get fed up of reading it. Unfortunately this seems to go against you when you make a valid point. I actually agree with the centre back comment but I have to admit, I usually get a little confused by half your comments. Sorry mate. You did ask.

Agree12 Disagree0

Let's hear about these 4 top class CBs you talk of then? We have 3 very very decent ones that would probably get in any other team in the prem.

Barcelona shortlist for a GK includes Thibaut Courtois, De gea and the Schezzer.

Lakerville.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Wouldn't be that fussed if szecz left tbh. Think there's a lot better out there.

Agree7 Disagree11

Can see Valdes going united and De Gea the opposite way with united picking up few quid

Shez just needs time. If we get rid of him we will regret it in a year or so.

Think it will be Reina tbh

I think reina's form has been atrocious. I don't see him playing for one of the best teams at the moment. Also they missed out on Butland.

In all honesty now. Can we tolerate another season like this and the few before? I know its been 8 years without a trophy but in those eight years we use to show signs of encouragement. We had spells where we would be log leaders and favourites in quarter finals of champions league ties. We use to collapse in March because of our lack of expirience but now we battle for 3rd or 4th like its the last prize available.

This summer we have to do some serious grafting behind the scenes if we plan on bridging the gap on the Manchester clubs and Chelsea. This talk of Jovetic and Capoue could all be tripe, but players of that ilk and better should be all we looking to sign. They need to be joined by other leading players from clubs whos players want to play in the prem and in the champions league.

Micah Richards
Capoue
Turan
Jovetic

Those are not even the best players available, but those signings should see us improve a level.
If I were being greedy I would add Adler, Samba and Lars Bender.

Allow players like Fabianski, Djourou, Squilacci, Santos, Denilson, Rosicky, Arshavin, Bentdner, Chamakh and Park. 10 players who were on 30k-70k per week.

If we are lucky

. : . Szczesney
Richards. Kos. TV5. Nacho
. Capoue
. JW10. Caz
TW14. Jovetic. Turan

If we are really lucky

. Adler
Richards. Samba. TV5. Nacho
. Capoue. Bender
. JW10
TW14. Jovetic. Turan

Subs. Szczesney, Kos, Gibbs, Caz, Arteta, Ox, Pod, Giroud

Anyone watch Bayern tear Shalke a new one this weekend?

Schweinsteiger is pure class while Robben and Ribery looked really sharp dribbling wise.

This is the same Bayern Munich who finished runners up last season only with minor improvements
We will have to be at our very best to pull this through over the 180 minutes.

We really need to win this tien. I don't know how much longer we can get knocked out in the last 16 before out seeding drops and get overtaken by the likes of Juventus and Dortmund.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

I think Bayern are the second best team in europe right now, last year they seemed to go all out for champions league as the final was at home for them and ended up being very unlucky not to win it. This year they have got even better, They have only conceded one goal away from home all season! from 10 games with an overall goal diff of +48. Think we will have to play 100% at our best over the entire 180 mins and still need the odd thing to go for us here and there. Come on Arsenal

Agree5 Disagree0

We need to hope that Arsenal's performances for the bayern games are above anything we have seen in the last 2 seasons. A repeat of the home leg vs barca is what we need, and we don't have cesc or van persie to pull us along.

Fingers crossed!

Daniel

Agree4 Disagree0

How many years consecutive have Juve and Dortmund

1. Qualified for the CL
2. Made it to the knockouts

Ya. consecutive.

People need to relax. I like our midfield versus theirs. Javi Martinez still has a ways to go to be world class, I've seen him play a lot.

Their defense is very young. Dante is very new, and we did well against him. by we I mean England, because Arsenal will eventually comprise at least half that first 11.

Bayern is class, but this will not be Barca the first 20 min like a few years ago when we got hit by a freight train and Almunia had his best 20 min ever as a Gunner

Lets win the FA cup and hopefully Gibbsy and Jack are good to go next week.

Meantime this rest during the week is great for us because there is another huge run coming with spurs and Everton on the agenda

I still say, we can afford to give Jack and/or Santi breaks once in awhile and play Rosicky.

We have the attack to threaten them its our defense that worries me. You also forgot to mention possibly the best fullback in the world in Lahm.

I was surprised that Wenger sanctioned Djourou's move, without bringing in an extra centre back.
We now have:
RB: Sagna or Jenkinson ~ Jenkinson is banned for 1 match
LB: Monreal or Gibbs ~ Gibbs is out for 6-8 weeks & Monreal is Cup-tied in the CL
CB: Vermaelen or Koscielny - Both injured, Vermaelen possibly needs an op.
Merteacker.
We then have the hopeless Squilacci & Miquel who lacks experience & physical strength.
We have no defensive midfield players that can cover adequately in defence.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

This is of course 100% correct and we all thought on here, and well basically fans everywhere thought we would be signing a CB the second we got a wiff of the Djourou loan deal. 'Disappointment' doesn't come close. If only there had been someone available, someone as good as Samba. oh wait.

And before anyone goes on about his wages, ask yourself 1) is he worth it (Yes), 2) what is the value of a defender if he helps you secure top 4 if brought in? (Answer - what do we make from the champs league?). 3) The value of finishing 4th not 5th? Well, last year admittedly spurs earned approx 1m more than us whilst finishing below us, but the year before that, the difference between 4th and 5th was £3m approx. That's £57'000 pw earned through one league position. So if you're telling me we couldn't have afforded Samba, I will have to politely disagree and present the above as my reason. I wonder if he'd have taken a pay cut to join a champs league team in the EPL?

Still, Arsene knows. Oh and by the way, it is Arsene who deals with this stuff, rather than Gazidis.

Metal Gooner

Agree3 Disagree10

We have a deep squad with quality.

Agree1 Disagree2

We have super Sagna at CB if needed, plus miquel should be good in an emergency, he has to start somewhere or he'll be the next to move on

Agree4 Disagree1

We have meade for left back, and miguel for lb/cb. Your right that its not the strength in depth that we need, but we do have players available atleast.

My question is, if the reserve players like meade and miguel and eisfeld and gnabry et al are not good enough to come in to the first team to aid an injury crisis, then why are we raving about the talent of our young players? Are meade and miguel really that promising if Arsene wenger goes out and buys Santos, and then Monreal, as a cover for gibbs?

Daniel

Agree5 Disagree1

I agree. Sheer dereliction of duty to our club. Poor bench and back-up players. When will our supporters wake up? The three good points at Sunderland paper over the cracks.
Just as bad as selling RVP to THAT club. I feel sick every time it's mentioned or he's on the box. Now we find out from Old Red Nose that he was negotiating a price with AW 2 months before the eventual deal! This is incredible. Wenger has to answer criticism. What is the purpose of a football club? To challenge? To win trophies? To move on the best players each year to our rivals? Brilliant! I think the crunch time will be at the season's end. Santos, Park, Squillaci, Arshavin, Gervinho. Lord help us! Not so many years ago Arsenal had a great reputation. Now rudderless and drifting as also-rans. We may get to Wembley, bit of luck needed though. It really is depressing. Sorry that's how I feel. Still, I'll turn up as usual on Saturday, but think we could be so much better.

Agree2 Disagree5

Nameless guy, you have not red the entire interview. SAF told that after 2 months, when Arsenal were ABSOLUTELY convinced by RVP that he don't want to stay, then the sold him. I don't think that Arsene had much to do. When the money talks no one can help. That is the football nowdays.

what did Santos do?

Santos did for defending what phil tufnell did for fielding
Santos did for Arsenal what myxomatosis did for rabbits

about the game yesterday I was delighted, normally we'd have conceded an equaliser

but this year city haven't been the same chelsea is chaos utd are just effiecent ad rely heavily on VP and spurs have avb in charge (enough said)

It just makes you think what if we did keep VP or we weren't as inconsistent what could have been!, you look at the defence that finished the game, only one/two of them would start yet they held firm it was nice too see a gritty 1-0. feel giroud needs to be more efficent but he is great for the team, some of the slick passing between the midfield trio was great

Heard arteta a few times talking about playing between the lines, looks like they work on it in training could be very effective on the counter away from home, santi was magic, you only realise when he's out the team (stoke) how much we miss him

we need to kick on now in the league, villa a home then spurs away we can't lose that game or it could be over!

cant wait for bayern hope we have most fit and a magical european night, have to beat blackburn watch rhodes and were alright, Fa cup is still a chance!
