Wenger has said that oxlade's future lies in a deep lying midfield role, as he possesses the same type of qualities as gerrard and Ramsey.

So wilshere and oxlade as future deep lying mids? That's my choice.

What's your choice gooners?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Personally? he's still young and can adapt. He can play out wide and can also adapt his game to play centre mid as well.

If you think of some of the displays Jack has put in for us and even England against Brazil, then remember what the Ox did against Milan a few years back.

The potential for those two over the next couple of years is immense.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry, forgot to mention this haha. Wenger has said that while he's learning his trade still out wide is the best place for him. And normally players settle about 23-24.

Hi Ed, just heard we are planning a loan move for David villa?
Any truth in this.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not going to happen. Poor journalism in my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

David villa, won't cut it anymore. he is no longer a player fit to play at the highest level, day in and day out. perhaps as a sub, but that too for La liga or bundesliga, not EPL, where every tackle could be your worst nightmare.

Why don't we try to sign the legend himself Mr Henry as the solution for our striker crisis.seems that we are overlooking after wenger stated that he would not be coming back to the club as a player again, wouldn't be the first time he changed his mind.
I think this would be perfect short term, and he would be fit as well as he has trained with the squad.
Any thoughts

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Noely, stop being so sentimental, lol.

Think of Thierry as an ex-girlfriend, there comes a time when you have to let go. (smiles)

Agree0 Disagree0

But 'sentimental turn back time sex' is awesome though Dags!

{Ed039's Note - FFS, the banter is quality today lads)

Griezmann instead of Pedro, Gunners what do you think?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would take Pedro as I think he is a more natural goalscorer and is left and right footed so can play through the middle or on either wing, also has a very good shot.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd take Pedro as I agree with DG, he's more of a goalscorer.

However, I am a big fan of Greizmann (sic) and think he is a quality player with more to come.

Being greedy, take em both!

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont rate Griezmann. he would be a sub at best for us.

we only have to look at Carlos vela to know that.

Vela maybe scoring goals for Real Soc, but he does not have any pressure to perform, their status is to make the top 4 if possible.

our current status is to win something, and the minimum requirement is to stay top 4, and the pressure our boys are facing is immense, especially for game day monday.

Ed: heard 3 rumours today;
First a bid has been made for griezman, which I think you said you will have look into.
Second a bid has been made for lazazette, any truth to this?
Thirdly an enquiry about the availability of Matia destro of Roma, any truth to this too?
Could you please give us some info on these as usual. Thanks

{Ed002's Note - (1) Yes, there is interest in Griezmann. (2) The others sound like Twitter.}

Malaga,
Just wondering if that plane on stand by is on a hourly rate & maybe that's why arsenal have not yet signed a worldclass striker they really need to win the league, any light u could shed would be much appreciated as I am a mere mortal compared to yourself.

Thanks Chris The REDman
Quite funny with all this 'inside' knowledge u have u couldn't figure out CTR and Chris The REDman are one and the same lol, even laker got that & we all know his mentality.

(baiting up that hook) :-)

Gd luck for today, villa are that poor even we beat them a few weeks ago lol, so i'm expecting u to score at least 3 although o bet many of u will take a scrappy 1-0 win.

On another note where is stoner? I miss his banter and wit.

:-)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

CTR,

Your vast football knowledge is always amazing, but we are not playing today so if we score 3 goals it will be a bonus.

Have just seen RVP and Shrek playing beach volleyball having a great laugh whilst comparing bank balances.

Lets see if you can break another record and get 4 losses in a row today!

My sincere apologies tomorrow 337!

Yes u never know we might cause an upset today ;-)

First one reeled in any more bitters opps I mean biters out there :-)

Why would they compare wages? Rooney wins hands down, all those winning bonuses for cups, finals, titles etc, Robin unless your forgetting played for arsenal for many years so he doesn't have nearly as much :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Apology not accepted, it's Monday!

You really need to learn the days of the week as your team will be playing in Europe on 'Thursdays' next season (if they are lucky).

And as you mentioned my old mate Stoner, he was famed for his phrases and he would use the following for you if he were still around:

CTR you are a 'bowel nugget'

Agree0 Disagree0

Chris it's not tomorrow either, moron.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like you'll even get Europa league this season, such a shame as we would all love to see RVP playing Europa.

Sadly this will mean Rooney will leave in the summer, so there's little point in discussing his salary at Manchester's smaller club.

Agree0 Disagree0

Core I bet ure glad Paul saved u 337 ;-)

While I gently reel u in paul dnt u wish u could bring through a player like Adnan :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Adnan "the twig" Januzaj is on a similar level to Miyachi and that shows how bad your squad really is that he is a starter lol!

Agree0 Disagree0

Adnan has a lot of potential, but if utd can't keep their main players, its only a matter of time before he thinks of leaving too.

not to mention the near 300 million in share value wiped off the stock value since moyes took over.

how the tables turn. the devils are looking to the heavens for an answer.

Good to hear AW say that Ox does not directly replace Theo - another indication that we are after an attacking winger / striker with pace

Lets get it done

So a few days ago I posted something about getting draxler and converting him into a striker and people were like oh it won't happen etc. turns out accroding to (aint most reliable source) that arsenal are weighing up their options for draxler and may use him as a striker!

As I couldn't sleep I was surfing the net as you do and no not that surfing. Everything football! Honest.

Any way read a short article on Bayern where Sammer spoke of buying Lewandowski and that Mandzukic and others would have to accept competition as they wanted to improve and stay ahead of the game.

It obviously got me thinking about us and United and how that was what they always did, stayed ahead of the game, Arsene couldn't until now do that.

For me that's the beauty, this window and the next should see us step up another level and because of where we are now financially we will then be able to drip feed that added talent into the squad as and when we need too.

Looking ahead, 8 years of pain feels like a distant memory, no idea if we'll get our hands on silverware this season but never felt so good about our future and grateful for what Arsene has and is doing for us.

Let's start the 2nd half of the season as a complete reversal of the 1st and get 3 points Monday night. I'm sure at my age I shouldn't be this excited!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well said- in we are in a great position now financially etc (I think possibly more than other fans or even some our own realise ) and I agree, whatever happens this season, we can only move forward from now on.

Good times a head imho.

Well said Code Zero.

Not arsenal related at all.

Wanted to know what people thought of Dortmund, lewandowski leaving, gotze left for the same team, 4th in the league, things aren't looking great at the moment but they always seem to pull someone out of nowhere to replace a star that's left (gundogan for sahin, lewandowski for barrios and even gotze for kagawa.)

I don't think they will plummet out of the champions league year after year but maybe it could be the beginning of the end for Dortmund? It's hard enough to win trophies when Bayern is the standard, but when your stars are leaving for that competition it's obviously going to be even harder to win trophies and compete at the same level, us as fans witnessed this first hand.

Not forgetting the positives, massive stadium, great fans, cheap tickets and season tickets, got a lot of injuries at the moment (will be stronger when they all come back.)

Would like to hear what others think. Cheers gooners!

I don't think you can help but love Dortmund, bet it's something else to go to one of there home games.

They're are definately missing Gundogan who is huge for them, not sure how much longer he is out with his back injury but he's a big reason they are struggling.

They're also to a degree similar to how is used to be for us as in the Utd RVP situation but that hasn't changed for them.

They have so much quality and everyone wants it and that includes Klopp.

Personally would love him to be Arsene's successor when the time comes. If and when they lose him then that's when it will become a problem. Whilst he's there I'm sure they'll bounce back.

Gundogan in an Arsenal shirt would be epic as a replacement for Arteta and Flamini, reports of United putting in a bid of £24 million, Gazump them big time I say. They don't come much better than him.

A question for the Eds and my fellow Gooners.

Do you, personally, think there should be a January transfer window?

The summer transfer window lasts for about 3 months, don't you think this is long enough for clubs to sign the players they want, get rid of the deadwood and generally do their wheeling and dealing?

Also, do you think it suits the bigger teams more than the smaller teams, eg, if Man City need strenghtening, they can throw another £100m at the problem, whereas smaller teams like West Ham etc cannot afford the same luxury.

Are we all playing on the same level surface?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I think the problem is the lack of time to do dealings, myself. It is ok for the big clubs to talk about disruption, but the small clubs need to sell players to survive. It has meant that a club such as Crewe, which tries to bring young players through their academy, suffers due to being unable to hang on to them and extract the highest price by selling when they are in the team playing well and increasing the club's points total too. Now they have to sell at the start of the season to make sure they have the money to stay afloat throughout the year, rather than just selling when they need to. That is why they dropped right down to League 2 when the transfer window was introduced. It only helps FIFA's glamour clubs, it hinders everyone else.}

Good points Ed001

Agree0 Disagree0

Good question DG and its a big thumbs down for me.
For me the window should open after the last game of a season and close the week before the new one begins and that's it.
Do your deals and then manage your Squad, if you get injuries or loss of form use your reserves and youths that's what their there for and how careers get a chance to get get going.
25 man Squad and your young players sounds great to me for all teams in all leagues.
Oh and no loans within same division as the parent club

Totally agree G62
