Hi ED, I know you have probably been asked many questions and maybe this question, but do you truly believe that arsenal will spend £25+ mill on a player this transfer window? {Ed027's Note - yes I think we could but it hink its more realistic in saying 20m+

We showed any interest in muriel of udinese?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

With Gazidis in charge of things we are more likely to show interest in Muriel on the deli counter in Morrisons!

Christian Eriksen should be an Arsenal player. £15m. Why not?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Do we really need him though? I don't think that an attacking midfielder is high on our list of priorities.

apparently, noone wants to pay bendtner what he wants (surprise), it seems he´s heading back to emirates. I hope they make him clean boots at the academy.

Interesting reading a few of the posts on the RM rumours site, or should I say comments from a certain Ed. Supposedly the Hig deal depends on two other RM deals but the Hig deal is expected to go through.

Not important who they are, but all will be clear in a few days, but no reason why a deal will not be sorted at the appropriate time. ( Possible two players being Callejon and Coentrao? ) Callejon has now benn snapped up by Napoli, leaving one?

Does that mean that that perhaps even the mighty RM need some funds to enable them to make offers for say Suarez and when they do then that frees up Higuain??

Maybe Perez doesn't want for arguements sake, liverpool to know that they, RM, have money coming from our possible purchase of Higuain enabling liverpool to keep a high price on Suarez?

Just thought I'd share some opinions.

I don't know about you but I'm gearing up for the transfer window countdown with a large helping of Jim White.

Maybe Peter Odemwingie will turn up at the emirates, or how about Harry Redknapp perched on the window of his 4x4 confirming cesar has left qpr or even better arsenal actually announcing that we are in contract negotiations with bendtner only for the deal to breakdown due to not being able to agree personal terms.

And queue press conference the day after the window closes

"I believe in this team individually and collectively. We have Giroud, Walcott, Polodskie who can all play up front, Gervinho is now doing morning children's tv with Floella Benjamin, Park will be on I'm a celebrity get me out of here and Chamakh will be staring with Gok Wan. "

I jest, however this summer is becoming laughable, I saw an earlier post which gave me a titter, the guy mentioned recreating the kit launch with the names all of the players we have been linked with on the back of the new shirts, I think that would put the point across.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lol great post, sums a lot up as what we should expect (like every year as gooner fans). I for one just hope this year will be different, but hey we all like to live in a fantasy world now and again.

The photographer will have to use a wide-angle lens. About 20 players and only Sanogo to show for it.
Latest Kondogbia, who will return from the under 20 cup, then go on 3 weeks holiday probably.

I would happily buy a shirt and take part in a staged kit launch!

Anyone else take morgan Schneiderlin from Southampton now that they have signed Wanyama?

Statistically, he was one of the best defensive midfielders in the league last year. French also ;)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good shout, but wouldn't get me jumping for joy considering, however better than bringing back flamini!

Maybe Southampton have far more ambition than us and plan to keep 2 quality defensive midfielders, when we can't even sign one.

Am I the only one who is wondering why we are back in for Williams due to TV5 being injured?
So we weren't signing a CB because we expected everybody to stay fully fit?
That sounds stupid to me, I doubt the injury is going to affect whether we are going to sign Williams (As the injury is not that long term such as a leg break)
If that is the case then God help us, we won't sign anybody because Arsene thinks everybody will stay fit. Maybe we need a few more injuries to encourage spending!
I personally feel the papers just see an opportunity to link us with another player and jumped at it. Especially as everything else seems to be cooling down.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If we go for Williams, especially at his age and cost, then the rest of the windows a bogey. It will only highlight our inability to focus on the real need, viz 1 or even top 2 strikers, a DM and a GK.

Agree0 Disagree0

We've never pulled out of the race for Williams, he's always been there as a target of Wenger's even before the window had opened, it just went all quiet because of no movement.

You have to remember that Djourou is now on loan to Hamburg and that leaves us needing another 4th choice CB, with Vermaelen now injured as well. IMO Miquel is not ready to break through into first team football so thus why Williams is now back in the headlines. My only concerns are this. 1. ) His age (being around the 28 mark I would have thought Arsene would pursue someone else but then again he does has EPL quality and 2. ) What will the CB pairing system look like? Verm has vowed to fight for his first team spot and show his worth, and I can't see Williams ( a captain of Swansea whose rated/ priced so high, with so much to prove) to want to sit on the bench either. If we truly are "back in" for Williams than I think something else is going on behind the scenes i. e a CB leaving. That's just my gut feeling.

Corbs Adelaide Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

I still don't understand the logic of buying Williams. We'd then have 4 27/28 year old CBs on our books. We'd actually be praying for an injury to one just to keep the others all happy with enough gametime.

A much better option would be to buy a 21 yr old who is good enough but would also be happy to play rotation game for a year or so or to buy a player that can play in more positions than CB (i. e someone like Richards or Varane - although not necessarily them for various reasons).

I'm usually realistic with Arsenal signings but the aura and mood this year feels different.

Things kicked off with us linked to Fellaini. For days all it was Fellaini to Arsenal. The last thing I remember reading was, "Arsenal meet Fellaini buy out clause". Then it's been silent.

After that it was Cesar, Cesar, Cesar. "Will complete move after Confederations Cup". Last we heard there, give or take.

Moving on to Higuain, it's been weeks of, painfully slow forward movement. Last thing concrete was his Father and Brother making comments like, "We have agreed terms with Arsenal", "We expect a deal to be completed" etc. Nothing since. Yes Perez has been spouting but he's a notorious spin doctor.

Anyway, my point is. All three deals looked VERY promising, bordering 'nailed on'.

Is it just me or does anyone think the reason for this silence is just the calm before the storm, and that Cesar, Fellaini and Higuain are virtually done?

To me it feels like the club have their targets and have been working hard to get them all done quietly and efficiently, along with other possible deals we haven't heard of so we can announce all our major signings at once. Maybe four or five top signings presented together at some point. I mean The Emirates Cup isn't that far off. That's a hell of a way to make a statement.

It's definitely wishful more than probable but I think the club need to make a big gesture for the fans. I'm getting the impression something big is about to happen for some reason but at the same time I'm not holding my breath.

Anyone feel the same?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yep. Just for the fact that if they don't they know the fans will be fuming.
Who? No idea
When? No idea
But I do believe we will be satisfied.

The way I see it for Arsenal's chase for a top striker:
Lewandowski will certainly go to Bayern next summer
Rooney will stay at United
Bony has completed a £12m move to Swansea
Benteke will end up at Spurs
Arsenal still want Higuain as a first choice. Madrid moving the goalposts at the last second is typical Fiorentino Perez, who thinks he is GOd's gift to football. The reason we bid for Suarez is to make Madrid get a move-on to sign him. Once they have him they will give us Higuain more easily.

Like the proverbial boomerang, I'm back!
I know you've all missed me, and I don't blame you, the quick wit, the boyish charm, dashing intelligence and overwhelming modesty.
Not to mention the shameless lies.

So, just two little nuggets of news to share, hardly worth much, but take as you will!

The reason the Higuain deal is taking so long is this, as far as I'm aware (I'm not saying I know anything super special secret, it's just what I've been told)
The deal isn't dead, but it's going to take longer than projected If It works out at all.
We have agreed a fee with Madrid, as confirmed by his father/agent, but Ancelotti sees him as a useable player in bus system, and isn't keen to let him go without seeing him first.
On the 15th Higauin, his agent and Ancelotti will sit down, and talk it out, with the Italian looking to convince him to stay.
IF Higauin makes it completely clear he wants to leave, then Ancelotti won't stand in the way of the deal, and Higuain will be announced.
Suarez is the player we'll go for after that, it would of been Rooney, but he seems all set to stay at Utd.
The problem with Suarez, is we won't meet the scouters £40m valuation, along with the club anticipating a fan backlash at the signing of a un-liked player!
But, when has upset fans ever upset our hierarchy!

As for Others we've been linked with, we've essentially missed out on Cesar, as he's off to Napoli.
Fellaini, we have interest in, but won't meet his clause, and as Everton have no need to sell him, they won't, next season is my guess, but wether it's to us he'll move, I'm not sure.
In honesty, about a week ago, I'd of said he's leaving, and we were favourites, now I'm not confident of him moving, let alone to us.
We've picked back up the interest in Williams, due to TV5 hurting his back, he's missing the tour, to go get treatment In London, but there's worries he may need an operation, and as such could miss 2-3 months.
Wether Williams will be keen to be 4th choice, I'm not convinced.

As for these recent Cesc rumours, if he wants to leave, Barca won't stop him, and if they wanted to sell him, he'd be back the emirates before you could say "Arsene's best signing ever"
However, he's got one more season at Barca, at least, especially with the (soon) sale of Thiago to Bayern!

All this is educated opinions/thoughts/and stuff I've been told.
The fact is, don't believe anything till it's on the website!
In fact, don't believe it then.
Don't believe we've signed a player, till he's worn the shirt, scored a goal, kissed the badge, and retired at the princely age of 33.
THEN you can consider believing it!

Peace!

Has anyone thought that until all of the deadwood is sold ie - bentder, chamakh, which both happen to be strikers by the way. Wenger will not sign any striker!
I just get this feeling this is the way wenger is playing it this season.

Im sure guys are smart enough to realise that until these deadwood players are of the books there is no point signing anyone just in case they don't end up being sold?.

I dunno just thought I would mention it

I do not believe we are interested in Suarez. Ok maybe interested but we just won't spend the fee Liverpool will be asking for.

The guy will miss 8 or 9 games (and if he gets hungry again on the pitch he will probably get banned much longer). I know he is a great player but don't get your hopes high. I can't see Wenger splash the cash on an "Enfant terrible".

I don't think the Higuain deal is off yet but I fear the worst.

And Rooney? Can't see him coming.

I know there is much time left in the transfer window but I fear we will leave it late again.

If you really want a player these days you (have to) pay what it takes to get him. Should we again fail to buy big (not in size but quality) we won't win a title next year (even "4th-spot-cup" will be tough to "win").

Would you still say "In Arsene we trust"? No big signing would be a major disappointment and the fans' backlash would be huge I guess.

But hey we already strengthened the squad with the arrival of Sanogo.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

12 Jul 2013 10:47:38
Liverpool fan in peace here.

Might the guy miss 8 games in a season. but he would still score 30+ goals a season. that's guaranteed.
he doesn't need any support. would pick the ball from half way line and can shoot from 25 yards out from any foot.
he could also take freekick.
he is a fighter who hasn't been injure for a month in his whole footballing career.
We are guted to loose him. because he is the best.
But only at 40 mill pounds a minimum.

The last time you actually had a 30+ goal scoring striker was Henry. long long back.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jul 2013 17:27:28
This 25million Fabregas clause makes no sense, since they signed him for 30-35million so why would they agree to that and make a loss?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Because they'd have no reason to sell unless he wasn't a success

Agree0 Disagree0

And because they got him for about 15m less, so Wenger put loads of conditions in the contract. 25m Euro (I think) buy back. First refusal. 50% sell on fee. Buy-back clauses and sell-on clauses in Jon Toral's and Hector Bellerin's contracts removed. Pretty smart really.

Chamakh did not travel with the squad for the Asian tour. Big sign that he is going to get sold soon. Fingers crossed

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It is not a sign that he will be sold soon. We have a massive problem caused by Wenger's so called 'socialist' wage policy. The likes of Chamakh, Bentner, etc are on wages that are far to high for lesser clubs to pay and the better teams don't want our failures. We will have a huge problem selling Chamakh, Bendtner, Santos & Park. We had to release Denilson from his contract, we had to run down Squilacci & Arshavin's contracts.

To 1404. There was a rumour not from me that Arsenal shop were told not to put the number 4 number on Merts shirt for any orders. The rumour was suggesting Fabregas was likely to return. I just rang them to find out if they were still selling Merts shirt with the number 4 on it and they had not heard anything to the contrary. I just wanted to see if there was any depth in the original rumour. Ok.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wasn't having a go just pointing out that no one ever knows what's going on at the club apart from a select few, They wouldn't give a monkeys about people buying shirts withe wrong numbers on, and lastly they are hardly going to tell shop staff to not sell shirts, merchandise etc.

But god I hope it's true, Cesc comes home.

Before everyone gets miserable about Grenier (whomn many of you didn;t even know as a player 2 months ago), please note he signed a 2y extension. He would very much be affordable next year as well.

I think he is a longer-term target for us, and am happy that he is showing some loyalty - its a rare quality these days.

Billybob

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well atleast he did us a favour and ended our misery and gave us time to find an alternative target.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said, disappointing for us (he is basically this year's Cabaye) but you have to admire his loyalty. Sadly, the french league is growing, he'll get to play against some better players than we have in the prem e. g. Falcao and he'll get a big move in a year or two, by which point we probably won't bother! Never mind.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair point metal, but I think this was a loyalty signing, even though his heart is still set on Arsenal.

I think we might look at him again in Jan (withh ver little odds of signing him).

Agreed that at least we can put that one to rest. We have enough "sagas" to deal with.

Perhaps being an Arsenal fan who lives in the UK I don't realise how lucky I am as I can see the team anytime provided I can get tickets, but I'm going to put it out there I hate these pre-seaon tours clubs do particularly Arsenal. While it's great that foreign fans get to see us play and meet the players, the games are usually terrible, take last year for example that game against the Malaysian XI awful as was the friendly against Man City. The fans don't get to see the real Arsenal team, and each year is dogged with some other issue. Last year RVP, year before Fabregas and Nasri, this year discontent at no signings though that seems to be a feature each year.

I understand that this tour is important commercially but its all the rubbish that comes along with it and the excuses that it can provide the club that annoy me. Nobody wants to see thousands of pictures of players getting on and off planes everyday or some silly picture of arsenal players doing challenges, or dressing up. Each year the fact we are on our tour can be used to excuse why we haven't signed x yet. It's just frustrating wish we would just focus on getting the signings in and getting the squad back to fitness and if we are going to play games during pre season, then play against teams people want to see and this doesn't have to be in the emirates it could be anywhere I'm just tired of this each year.

I think the media back drop to the tour doesn't help one day a player is 100% joining and having a medical next day deal is off like with Higuain, now every player we wanted Higuain, Fellaini, Williams and Cesar are are going to fail to join the club if the press are to be believed. Wish the club would just stop messing about with fans posting rubbish nobody is really interested in, hyping everyone up over a kit launch which is a good looking kit by the way and just get down to business. We've got a chance to really shake up the league and win some trophies only top four team with the same manager, just need a few quality players. So please Arsenal less of the pictures of Mertesacker comically getting into a plane that looks to small for him and more of what we really want to see top players joining the club and pics of them signing being posted.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

To be far this is only the second year we have done this type of tour as wenger is dead set against them, it was the board that pushed it through to help increase international revenues! I could be wrong!

i just feel the club treats us as though we still wear nappies. i'd say kids but kids are savvy these days.

e. g. that gamelan thing - just a parody of a good idea. why not make the video more interesting, include some culture, and tell that tool sagna to smile for once. let's see the players meeting people, learning something.

and no I don't care about a sodding arsenal hadouken. it's so cringe! djourou, arsenal insider - cringe also.

anyone who follows the lads on twitter or fb will see all the cool pics they upload and it's awesome. what goes on on the official propaganda site is just humiliating.

as for the actual tour - I like the idea. but why couldn't they have left 3 weeks ago? they've done absolutely nothing for 6 weeks. when I was in school, foreign sports tours didn't happen during pre-season - pre-season happened during pre-season. tours happened in the holidays. let the lads go on tour, give them 2 weeks off when they get back, then start pre-season. not hard!

as for the signings, well it shouldn't make a difference but it does for some reason. we all hear it's not just wenger who deals with transfers so why it all has to come to a halt because of a foreign tour is a mystery. chelsea and liverpool both signed players whilst on tour in the states 2 years ago.

just another example of the club being out of touch. wenger, law and gazidis don't trust each other to make signings. at city and chelsea it's simple - the owners make the signings. that's what happens when you have savvy people in charge.

lastly, to hide behind excuses like 'there isn't much movement at the start of the window' is, imo, a sackable offence. we were prmised this summer would be different, we were promised the club had targets at big managerless clubs and knew what it was doing, so far though, nada.

yet to be impressed. and I imagine this tour will involve all the kids and the no-hopers like aneke who will get one or two halves of football and then be sold or loaned, resulting in a total waste of squad development, just like last year.

eisfeld was exceptional last year, he scored about 4 goals in 3 games and still never made it. someone tell me wtf the point was in taking him on tour if, when he impresses, he then gets ignored for the year?

i'm going for a walk

Gervinho left out of squad to Asia due to "sickness. " Have to imagine this means he's likely to get sold in the coming weeks. So long as we bring in attacking option to replace him *cough-Higuain-cough* I'll be happy to see him go.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It must be contagious - he's been making me sick for 2 seasons. If it is a subterfuge prior to a move, for God's sake make it a permanent transfer and not another loan, raising the prospect of him returning. Never ever seen a player with so much potential, but who could not master the basics.

The more I read and hear about Nicklas Bendtner the more and more I dislike him and can't wait to see the back of him. He wasted what ever talent he had, managing 22 goals in 99 games for us and a woeful 0 last season for Juventus, not wonderful stats for a forward. But his greed is astonishing, we didn't help by giving him that ridiculous contract, but nearly every move that looks on the cards he puts a stop to with his huge wage demands same looks like it would happen with is move to Eintracht Frankfurt. But what compounds all this is, his huge ego he thinks he is god's gift to football, which is hilarious. His social media is filled with nothing more than pictures of his Ferraris, or the expensive designer clothes he is buying or some celebrity he is rubbing shoulders with. I'm sure people would suffer him if he was at least a half decent footballer, but the sooner he is gone the better. If I ever want a laugh I just remember when he said "I'm the best player in the world" or when he asked Eduardo for the number 9 shirt and got told to jog on.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We only have ourselves to blame. The sociallist policy has f**ked us up. Need to remember not every footballer has football as their first priority.

Smartie, sometimes you have to cut your losses. It's very rare that when you terminate a contract, you totally buy the player out. You usually give them an up front payment e. g. 6 months wages. We've probably spent about £10m on B52's wages in the last 3 years and we could quite easily have terminated his contract 2 years ago, paid him off with a million or so and have done with it. That is what you do in big business but as we all know the club is not yet fully adjusted to the scale of finance in modern football!

Agree0 Disagree0

Grenier has signed a new contract with Lyon so I think that will put and end to any chance of him joining us this summer.

And Cesar deal looks like it could be off. Lots of rumours Napoli are now favourites and a deal could be completed very soon. Some are saying that he was very close to joining us and the deal was almost complete, however he decided to go on holiday and refused to negotiate till he returns, which frustrated the club and they have decided to look else where.

Ok here it is. I have just spoken to the Arsenal shop and they have not, I repeat not been told about Mert changing his shirt number but! They have been told that Jenkinson may be having the number 2 shirt. I made out I was interested in buying a Mert shirt but didn't want to have it printed with the wrong number. That will probably put the Fabregas rumours to bed.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yeah, thanks for that because they would let the oik in the shop know first!

Agree0 Disagree0

That's not going to put the cesc rumours to bed. They work in the club shop on £6 an hour, whose going to tell them anything?

Yeah the guys in the shop are always the first to know. it's possibly the stupidest rumour I've heard.

Is anyone who said that Higuain deal was done around to justify their empty rumor spreading? Seems now there are more rumors saying the deal is off. I'll be interested to see how Sanogo gets on if he is loaned out.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You can't call it empty rumour spreading when national news papers reported we'd smashed our transfer record, and Raf Honignsten and ESPN made it very clear a fee had been agreed and we'd been permitted to talk to the player. Posts like this really piss me off, there's no need for it at all, what point are you trying to prove by coming on here and being all holier than thou? The deal was as good as done. Higuain's camp were said to be very happy and they were waiting for Madrid, who had agreed a fee, to sign the deal off. Your post is completely pointless, go contribute to a different page if all you want to do is try and call people out 'for being wrong' when they actually weren't. And register yourself and sign your posts off.

I think Arsenal will end up with

Higuain
Suarez to Real

Don't think were done yet with Bender

If that doesn't happen then it will be Fellaini

Fabregas. not this summer he's not going anywhere.

Suarez the bid was it from us?

Any thoughts on a CB as the Verminator is injured again. Sakho from PSG anyone.

Please not Barry we've come out and said about money being available. 3 manager changes in top 4. we need a statement of intent. ie a couple quality signings. that happens I quietly fancy us this year if not. no excuses! Bring the Russian in

The Ronaldho saga. Yep I agree with Lakervillecand others why would he come to Arsenal what with wages he would want etc but then again we were linked with Rooney on £240,000 a week! Maybe the Ronaldho thing could be done if they were to offer him 100% of his image rights then that would make it a whole different story and yes he could go to any team in the world but isn't he already at one of the best teams anyway and do you really think he is bothered about how much wages he is on now.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Who exactly is this Ronald Ho then? Sounds like a player from Hong Kong. Is he any good? Typical Wenger signing by the sounds of it but surely an unknown would not command wages on a par with Rooney or Ronaldo?

CECEGUaW

Agree0 Disagree0

Fibby, its not out of the realm. but buying Ronaldo would mean we blow our budget on him, and then we still need a striker.

Don't quote me on this but if ronaldo does leave Madrid, it will either be manchester united for something close to 80 mill. or it will be to Man city who will pay that amount and some. But I think the most likely outcome is him signing a major renewal deal.

If not.

Then he will be sold, Bale will be their new man to replace him, and it could be Bale, Ozil and Isco lining up in the middle.

things are too quiet right now, something major is happening, and with FFP monitoring period over, its the last chance for teams to spend like crazy and take the financial penalties for the coming season.

A united fan with insider connection recently said. Ronaldo to united for 62 mill was turned down. not sure how true it is.

Would anyone else consider raiding Madrid for:

Higuain
Di Maria
Khedira

They will already have good chemistry together, they will add class to the team having come from Real Madrid, they would basically lift the standard of the Arsenal roster.

One stop shopping, would cost about 70 mil and make us serious title contenders.

Nick.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Im guessing

Higuain - 25mill
Di maria -25 mill
Khedira - 25mill

that is 75 mill and their wages will cost another 7mill per year = 21 mill for the 3 of them.

No signings for at least three weeks. they fly out today
for there tour, so maybe we will try and get someone on the last day of the transfer window? and get what is left. if they want to join us that is.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The tour is irrelevant to new signings for a few reasons. it a pr exercise, you don't fly half way round the world to Indonesia for quality opponents. no structural/formation systems will be set out there. any potential buys form the confeds cup would still be on holiday. we can still do deals whilst arsenal are away. sanogo talked about meeting with arsene about 3 weeks before we announced him. do people really think that when all is agreed we announce the next day?

Seen as we have missed out on our top Goalkeeper targets and Higuain we will be signing -

Begovic - £15mil

Fabregas - £25 mil (buy-back clause)

Suarez - £35mil - £40mil

Plus a few younger players with money from sales.

I heard Begovic was staying and they're loaning Butland out.

Vermaelen. Injured again he hasn't even started the season and he is out of the Asia tour and will miss the beginning of the season according to newspaper reports. He is becoming a nightmare with injuries I'm wondering whether Arsenal should just jog him on. Please don't reply by saying he is a great player when he is playing we all know that, problem is when is he hardly ever carrying some sort of injury. Just look at his stats says it all.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I am not too sure he's injured. I think this is a typical Arsenal exit strategy. He was tweeting about getting over life's obstacles yesterday so maybe he is injured but who knows? I don't think fans trust the club when we hear a player who is rumoured to be leaving suddenly gets 'injured' in the TF window.

Fabregas to Arsenal might happen. I'd say 7/10 possibility.

Suarez/Higuain should happen for sure.
According to reports, Liverpool might let Suarez go for 40 million so that they have enough time to find and sign his replacement. (James Pearce)
Possibility - 9/10

Arsenal planning to bring Krul as a back-up keeper. Possibility - 9/10

De Rossi/Bender/Fellaini/Vidal - one of that 4 will come to Emirates.

From Poland with love.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Fabregas to Arsenal depends on Thiago leaving.

Suarez for 40mill? I don't think liverpool will sell under 50mill.

Higuain? depends who buys suarez, arsenal or madrid.

Krul? - no chance. will cost alot.

most likely fellani, but end of transfer window.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lakerville I imagine they would sell for £40m or even less. If he was golden boy with no reason to leave then maybe they could justify £50m but £50m is inflated price for players who are better, without the baggage. Liverpool are also in a catch with him because they are pushing for top 4 and are desperate to have things sorted in-house. I think this could mean he could go for between £35-45m. Just my take.

Agree0 Disagree0

I've heard Thiago will leave Barca for Bayern Munich. That would certainly mean Fabregas staying.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fabregas deal could happen. AFC are waiting for Fabregas and Vilanova talks before submitting this buy back clause fee of £25m. The player does not have to be transfer listed for this fee to be submitted. AFC are essentially willing to throw the cat amongst the pidgeons. Fab is extremely loyal but if Barca except the fee then he would have to start personal terms discussions with AFC. The negative is that if our fee is agreed then effectively Fab is on the market and other clubs will be able to submit their offers, which I guess will be more than the £25m, which would mean that Fab wikll be speaking to those clubs too.

Agree0 Disagree0

We have first refusal. that's how it works.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would Krul come to us to be second choice I think he is a very good goal keeper but not much better than chez. We need an experienced goal keeper that chez can learn from what about Shay Given, left out of villa squad would be an able deputy and good cover

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jul 2013 10:35:37
There are lots of posts saying 'Dont panic' there is plenty of time in the transfer window to get players in. (i guess you are the type of people who revise on the night before an exam). NO NO NO! do your business early and get the team settled before the season starts so all the players know the strengths and weakness of the new signings.
Again I stress. the league is up for grabs. I think Arsenal should be doing more to tie up all our main targets.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Couldn't agree more, pay up, get them in for pre season so both existing players and new players have some time to train together. Other teams manage it with minimal fuss, what's wrong with our negotiators? Surely our targets were all identified before last season even ended, so stop dithering and pennypinching and get it done

Hi eds, since u guys said we'll know something by Wednesday, what's keeping the hold up?
Nam-gooner {Ed022's Note - I'm unsure which Ed said that but I can only presume there'd be a development on the Higuain front - I fear that this deal may drag on longer than first anticipated if a compromise isn't reached rapidly.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Perhaps Arsenal are thinking Man city or chelsea would not spend 25mill on higuain, as they don't see him as a primary striker.

Mancity as they have aguero, and Dzeko and possibly due to higuain wanting major game time that destination is unlikely.

With chelsea it would have been done, with the lack of quality striker upfront, but perhaps he is not a mourinho type of player, and mourinho never played him for the big games as a first choice.

So Arsenal are calling Real's bluff and making other moves, while real are calling Arsenal's bluff in thinking we are not serious about suarez. but now that they have been dragged into the suarez war, and arsenal not talking on Higuain, perhaps we are waiting for real to swallow their pride and give us a call and sell us the player?

Get so bored with the abuse Malaga gets. It's one thinking he's a fool, it's another wasting your time coming on here and telling everyone - nobody wants to hear it! It's a good natured page so do one if you're going to slate one of our own!

End of the day he said we were going for Hazard and he was right until we knew we couldn't get him. Malaga's problem is he says 'it's 100% done' when it really isn't. But in terms of interest, he gets it right a fair bit.

Hazard interest
Goetze interest
Talking to Bayern about a player
Song leaving - he said that before the jan window opened in his final season.
He said RVP would go
He has said TV5 will go and oh look, 'injured' haha! (Not laughing at Verminator there)

So while there may be errors here and there, he is in the right ball park a lot of the time and he contributes to this page! So lets' all just play nice!

Hey eds couple of questions are these Flamini rumours true, and what would you think about Arsenal signing him? Personally I would place him behind Fellaini and a few others for the DM role.
Also if Arsenal are really rumoured to be interested in paying 30 mil for Benteke, would they not just pay an extra 5-10 mil for Suarez, who is the most talented striker in the league, probably top 5 in the world?
Cheers {Ed027's Note - 1. Flamini wants a move to the PL, but we don't want him 2. I don't think we should get him, he has declined since he left, we need class 3. we are not interested in Benteke...yet, but even if we were not for 30m, i'd say 20m max

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Liverpool don't know what Liverpool r doin

Agree0 Disagree0

Liverpool will see him for close to 50mill is what I heard last.

With PSG, Monaco, and possibly even chelsea out of the running. that only leaves Real & Arsenal.

If real get a sniff of bale. then liverpool will most likely be shooting themselves in the foot, keep a unhappy player, and for all you know, he may do something even crazier, or get some ban here and a ban there and they would have wasted a golden opportunity to get a lot of money on their initial investment.

If Arsenal are offering 35mill, that's over 10 million in profit over 2 seasons and a nut head out the door, for us, it is a quality addition, but i'm still wary of his madness.

anyway my feeling is they won't sell, we will move on, they will be left reeling and in the end he will cost them a top 4 spot.

Agree0 Disagree0

The club did make record bids for Jelovitc, Higuian and Suarez, however all bids at this stage have been rebuffed until the selling club have a ready made replacement in place. As the selling clubs are in no rush to sell at this point coupled with us not quite willing to match the full asking price both parties are happy to wait it out.

No matter how much money we have sloshing around in our bank account, although the intent is there the conviction clearly isn't.

So considering we have made a squad already weak weaker (debatable from a skill level however risky from a squad size poit of view) the club will strengthen that much I am sure of. I understand that the cub are looking to supplement the squad with a couple of decent squad players, such as grenier from lyon or capoue from st estienne as well as a keeper
Cesar.

Once these deals are tied up, I'm afraid we will have to wait it out for the others.
