20 million will do, even 15 Dags

Personally I think no one will risk that money on him.

I agree NE Spud.

12 Mar 2016 19:57:11
It's cause I'm right Banbury Woolwich. The boys never injury free, he's an ok player when fit, but how many games a season is he available?

Puts pressure on the rest of your squad. Another sick note for JW and he's finished.

11 Mar 2016 21:28:34
Manager of the season thus far?

I can't look beyond Ranieri and Bilic.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - poch is not doing too bad dags.

11 Mar 2016 21:35:00
Ha ha Ed, like that would be considered on this site.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - the gooners are a pretty fair bunch N/E, im sure petty rivalry would not get in the way..

11 Mar 2016 21:46:22
Raneiri would be run away winner surely but 2nd would be between Poch and Billic for sure, by the way NE why the pigeon on sparrow egg avatar mate? Ask Steve for some tips on improving your look :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Mar 2016 22:24:56
Ranieri has no peers this year whatever, the money he has spent and the fact he's going for it big style. Lower down the league eddie howe doing a great job at unfashionable Bournemouth.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Mar 2016 22:42:02
Eddie Howe has been doing a great job for years at Bournemouth and this year is no exception but next year will be a bigger test when the premier league will most likely have 20 teams again opposed to 19 and Villa.

Pochettino - Out of the League Cup - Out of the FA Cup - Virtually out of the Europa League - Just failure to win the PL and he has done the quadruple!

11 Mar 2016 23:11:54
Fair point Ed,
Would put Poch in my top 10.

Behind McClaren, Tim Sherwood, John Carver, Iain Dowie, Brian Laws and Micky Adams :-)

Rafa benitez for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Mar 2016 10:21:04
But RG where could you find such a manager still in the FA cup the premier league and champions league as we speak? Is their such a manager out their anywhere? If only we could find such man to lead us from August to February each year :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Mar 2016 12:34:13
Gunner62 - As I keep telling you, we have one. He isn't perfect, but replacing him is difficult, particularly as Mourinho appears to have taken a job for next season and very few top notch mangers are available, if any. The managers you mentioned previously didn't fill me with confidence that they would fair any better than Wenger, probably worse.
I believe us fans simply want a change, have become a little bored and Wenger should have brought in more players during the last two windows, to retain our interest.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i would say your right there RG..

12 Mar 2016 13:09:26
Gunner your eyes are as bad as mine, it's a Phoenix with the blazing sun behind.

It's represents a new dawn, rising from the ashes.

You'll get it at the end of the season and for the years to come old chap.

For me Poch lost the chance of Manager of the year with his team selection in the week, Spuds got a hammering and his team selection was slightly arrogant.

11 Mar 2016 18:14:22
There seems to be a lot of sympathy for Steve mclaren today in the media! I for one have sympathised with Newcastle managers gone by for the lack of support and having to deal with that cretin Mike Ashley bit as far as I can see with Steves appointment he has got more support and spent a good bit of money so I think his sacking is very just. A strange one for Rafa as well . Thoughts.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - McClaren was given a seat on the board, not sure why he is getting sympathy.}

11 Mar 2016 18:56:20
There has been from his peers and I can't see that either and that was before i knew what you said about a possition on the board. Very strange must be chums with Ashley.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Mar 2016 19:04:28
Newcastle have never had a settled structure above the Manager with Mike Ashley looking to sell-up for a long while no. Thus the Manager is never going to secure in his position and this uncertainty spread down to often uncommited playing performances.

It a poisoned chalice at present and I am very Surprised Rafa is taking this one on, will be his biggest challenge no doubt and a big risk to his rep. I am not sure he is Relegation type manager if you know what a mean.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Mar 2016 19:13:54
Mclaren was only going to get relegated, benitez may prevent that, nothing to loose really. Benitez might just get the best out of a Newcastle team that are under performing.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Mar 2016 19:35:52
I don't know why any manager would want to work for Ashley the man is a pig full stop. I know people who have worked in his stores and he treats them terrible zero hours he promises them bonus and then never pays them. I won't give mike Ashley a penny of my money as I boycott all his shops.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Mar 2016 19:59:18
Newcastle need a new owner no question but they also need those 50,000 loyal fans to be patient and realise no manager can come in and give them what they have wanted and been without for countless years overnight.
The fans up there have demonstrated so often and drove out the likes of Pardew and Alladyce they need to take a lot of the responsibility for where they find themselves now.
A sleeping giant of a club that for many reasons has made itself unattractive to the ambitious manager with the talent needed to deliver what they crave so badly.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Mar 2016 20:49:36
Completely agree raver!

Wouldn't give the guy the time of day

Someone mentioned Rafa's rep? His rep at the moment isn't great, he's looked upon as a stand on guy till the next boss is available, that's not a great rep to have so taking on the Newcastle job will do no harm at all.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Mar 2016 21:00:14
I love the way Benitez say's "We must all pull in the same direction, the managers, players and fans, we can stay up, we need 100% commitment".

Yeah Rafa, is that why you have a clause in your contract that say's you will leave if Newcastle go down?

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Mar 2016 22:24:38
Any player and especially manager who wants opt out clause would automatically tell me you shouldn't be employing their services in the first place.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Mar 2016 19:54:11
Stevie Mac should just be a coach. A manager. No.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Mar 2016 06:05:50
Jegooner, you can't deny Rafael Benitez's reputation, and it's not soley his champions league win with Liverpool. He may have been a 'stand on guy' at Chelsea but I think he's a great addition for the toons - if, ofcourse, he is allowed to be more than Mike Ashley's puppet.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Mar 2016 08:31:39
Hes a good addition to the toon. Its a massive time for them. Stay up they could push on go down then it's OK rebuild asap.

Rafa I'm not huge on for top clubs but for them he's perfect maybe it's been done a little to late but they have a chance.

I think that the RH mid/ winger position is an area we have not exploited well. Despite his great engine and runs, I've never seen Ramsey take a player on. I don't know why we don't give Welbeck a run out there. I know we are not exactly flush with forwards but surely that would give Giroud / Walcott more service with his pace and power.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

11 Mar 2016 14:44:29
How we could do with a Marc Overmars.

Agree2 Disagree0

11 Mar 2016 19:07:35
Don't like to see players injured but to be honest Ramsey being injuired may be a blessing in disguise he was way off form anyway. Hopefully Wenger will balance the side better and use Campbell wide right, a more naturel position for him and he is in much better form.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Mar 2016 22:26:31
Could be Ryan! Injuries forced Le Coq into the team last season and look what a difference he made then.

A crucial week coming up, I hope Wenger selects the strongest team possible against Watford, as the FA Cup is our best chance of winning a trophy this season. With Man U and Chelsea having had tough midweek defeats and difficult ties, they may suffer defeats in their quarter final matches.
Against Barca, we have virtually no chance of getting through, so I would go for damage limitation and keep our top players rested for a tricky away trip to Everton. Against Barca, I would rest the likes of Sanchez, Ozil, Walcott and Welbeck, who need to be fresh for the Everton match.
On a separate note, I very much like the look of Elneny, who clearly needs the summer to strengthen up physically and build up the necessary stamina required to play regularly in the PL. The Coquelin - Elneny partnership looks promising, although I would still like to see us sign Wanyama in the summer, to add options to the DM position.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

11 Mar 2016 07:12:49
mark my words wenger will play all our best players against barcelona. we will probably lose, get knocked out and our players will be too tired when we face everton where we will probably lose again and i bet wenger will use fatigue as an excuse. poor man management. exactly why he needs to go. anybody remember when bayern thrashed us earlier in the season and then we had spurs coming to the emirates. our players were too tired and we ended up drawing. wenger could have won the league a long time ago if he wanted. He never rests the important players. runs them to the ground.

Agree2 Disagree2

11 Mar 2016 07:36:04
Or like in previous seasons when we have had to chase the second leg and played well and just missed out then we go on a good run for the rest of the season! It could galvanise us.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Mar 2016 08:44:58
The problem is Sanogo Barcelona love scoring goals lots and lots of goals and Saurez Neymar Messsi will all be looking to boost their own champions league tally's for the season, so narrowly missing out after a heroic second leg because the opposition took their foot off the pedal becuasee the first leg virtually sealed the tie isn't likely this time IMO.
I think we have to name our champions league squad in February so we're fairly restricted to who we can play so we can't really do a league cup type youth mix to save players for Saturday, I don't think we can anyway?

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Mar 2016 10:09:43
Agree RG, next 4 games and the Wenger outs posts will commence again.

I predict that you'll win v Watford in the FA Cup, Barcelona game isn't worth discussing as that's clearly over, however a hammering there will certainly upset the team for the visit to Everton and I can see you getting beat at Goooooodison in a high scoring game.

Then its Watford again at home, which you'll win, just, then Wet Spam away which will finish you in the Premier League (draw at best) , leaving you to battle for fourth, fifth and sixth place.

To be fair your run in is the easiest of all the teams after that, but by then it will be too late.

It will be interesting to see how your fans respond on here?
