Just had a look at the injury list for PL, a lot of clubs have a lot of injured players right now and we are no where near the worst hit club at all.
Puts a little perspective on things for me at least

5/7 of our players are first teamers with long term injuries.

Looking at other teams they seem to be rotational players or first teamers with short erm injuries for the most part

Nice to know it's not just as 'Arsenal' thing mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Before we get too carried away, the international fixtures aren't over yet. Let's not count our injuries or lack of them until 15mins before the Hull game.

Definite outs: Debuchy, Chambers (suspended) Ramsey, Diaby, Ozil, Giroud, Walcott.

Doubtful: Koscielny

Agree0 Disagree0

Greeny and others also. why do you guys even bother putting Diabys name with the others. we should have sold him by now. He's a great guy I know but he is never going to be able to continuously play at he level we desire. am I the only one that would bet his arm that diaby has seen his best days? The guy has too many injury issues

Don't mean to be a pessimist

Thoughts?

Totally agree with Just k,

Nice bloke but its game over for him as far as I'm concerned.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's on too much wages to keep him here, we all wanted Abou to succeed, he will always be the "what if" question.

Times up, Wenger needs to gain a little ruthlessness.

Agree0 Disagree0

We only pay him when he plays and I think that has been the case for a couple of years now :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

So basically Davros, what you're saying is that we've paid Diaby £50 in wages in two years?

Agree0 Disagree0

Davros, I think it was just the recent 9 month lay off where he didn't get paid. Apart from that I imagine he was picking up a nice healthy fat wage pack every week, whilst he was layed on the medical table.

Agree0 Disagree0

Regarding on Diaby being on too much wages, as far as i'm aware, he gets paid per game he plays in, a request from the player himself

I thought next week had gone belly up, was ment to be going to Amsterdam but fully booked.

So thought I'd have a quick look on hull city's website for a ticket and I got one for £26!

I don't care if I had to sit in a skip while hearing dags jokes, Amsterdam or emirates, there's only one winner:)

Is it hard getting stoned in Amsterdam?

Nah, piece of cake :-)

Cheillini scored all 3 goals in Italy's 2 1 win last night but Chris Nichol once scored all 4 goals in a 2 2 draw back in the old first division.
Surely no ones scored 5 in a 3 2 game or have they?

Not as far as I know mate.

I managed to do 4 out of 5 playing at dm in a 3-2 win for my school team last year. One header, a penalty, a screamer, an own goal, and the fifth was a deflection of me

Agree0 Disagree0

Remember losing 3-0 to Middlesbro at home. They had no shots on target!

Would anyone else be happy if we get draxler and ozil departs? I love draxler he adds height and strength. He has an eye for goal and can beat a man

Khedira joining? Is this true we think I wouldn't say no to him injuries are a worry but he's a big player to have in our midfield. he's a battler

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Draxler in and Özil out? It's a toughie, how about podolski out? That's better.

Next on the list, ah Sami, injuries are always a worry so hop on board.

11 Oct 2014 20:18:06
I really don't want Ozil to go.

11 Oct 2014 22:49:32
I think Draxler is a beast.

Think Gareth Bale in his last season at Spurs.

That's Draxler. Top player.

Agree0 Disagree0

I really think we need him before a bigger clubs takes him. i'd sign him ready for jan and look to sell off some of our dead wood attacking players.

We spent around 65 million in the summer so spending that same amount and only being able to buy the players who actually did move clubs last summer how would you have spent it differently to Arsene? Or would you have bought exactly as he did too

TONI KROOS!!

G62,

I think Arsene bought well.

He adequately replaced Sagna, Fabianski and TV5, and added quality in Sanchez and Welbeck.

If I understood your question correct, and can only buy players who moved clubs, I would have snapped up Diane and Diego Costa.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Oct 2014 02:20:24
We actually spent more like £80m including Welbeck.

But all of Wengers signings were very much needed. Ospina is a very good back up goalie, Debuchy is arguably better than a past-his-best Sagna and Chambers looks really promising. Sanchez and Welbeck give us the pace and direct style of play we missed last year. I couldn't think of a better way to spend £80m to cover 5/6 positions without being too unrealistic.

But I would certainly would not have let Vermaelen leave and Jenkinson go on loan. That would have allowed Chambers to have a run at CDM. He has all the attributes to play there. Jenks would have got a much needed run of games at RB now Debuchy is injured (but obviously Wenger could not have forseen this).

Wenger did well this window gone, he deserves more credit. Buying anothet CB and CDM would have taken us past £110m spent.

Agree0 Disagree0

Your right Detroit I forgot the 16 for Danny, .
What I ment Dags was how would you have spent that 80mil differently? Only being able to buy players who wre available and changed clubs last summer.

12 Oct 2014 15:14:07
We recouped

£15m from Vermalen
£8m from Sociedad who bought us out of Vela's buy-back
£5m from Djourou I've been told but not sure it's that high
And possibly a kick back from Fabregas although I don't believe that's true.

So anywhere between £25m - £33m back which makes £65m more accurate than £80m

Higher estimate means we effectively got Sanchez for nothing.

Have a feeling I'm forgetting someone else

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Oct 2014 15:30:23
Spend the full 80 different?

£8m for Alonso
£20m for Kroos
£32m for Costa
£8m Stick with Debuchy
Can't think of any decent cbs that moved so £12m for Chamber with £4m deferred :P

Sheeny,

Kroos and Alonso? Again it doesn't solve our problem very effectively. We've seen for years in the PL you need a physical presence in midfield. Neither of them bring that.

Costa is amazing, but at the expensive of Welbeck and Sanchez? Same attacking problems as last year, no pace. Obviously he's quick, but not enough to really scare defenders. Kompany and Mangala made him look like Sanogo.

I really think Wenger did the best he could with £80m.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Oct 2014 08:26:09
Except that Liverpool came second sold Alonso and and fell out of champions league for half a decade.

United one it twice and got pipped once with fletcher as they're deepest "physical presence"

Alonso is precisely the player Wenger wants in his system. He doesn't want a CDM he wants a deep lying playmaker.

Even at his age he's custard. Reads the game perfectly and puts in tackles with power and precision.

Kroos would be the perfect link man between Alosno and Ozil. Ozil has experience playing with both.

Costa? The man is a beast and 9 goals in his first 7 games in the Prem. Who does that?. Against City? He was playing the best CB in the world possibly and a dude who had the game of his life to date as lone striker in a team that sat back the entire game.

I may be incorrect but was that a 1-1 game and he got the assist. Just going from memory of my fantasy team but I'm pretty sure that's correct.

Sanchez though I have adopted him as my spirit beast is someone we didn't need. He's a born winger, I don't see him as striker. We have Ox and Walcot with Ganabry coming through. Striker was far more pressing. The man could dole out yardage as a spot prize at the premier league defenders gala and still beat any of them in a foot race. But he slows our game down drastically when he gets on the ball. Not to say that won't change but it has happen soon.

Welbeck? Always rated the guy. Was pleased to sign him but I think it'll be two years before he gets to the level we need him at. Even if he does a 20 game haul in all comps this year I wonder hoe many will come at top teams.

The only issue I have with Wenger's spending was no defensive cover and no CDM but there's no point worrying about that one because he doesn't want one.

That's just how I would have spent the money on players that moved during the window. Or in this winter wonderland discussion we could a just bought suarez and given 4 million to Liverpool county council to spend on cleanex for the grieving population.

I do see what you are saying regarding Alonso. Some teams are very succesful with a deep lying playmaker who organises the midfield and has a awesome range of passing. Pirlo, Lahm, Alonso and Gundogan are awesome examples.

But those are foreign leagues. I believe in the premier league you need muscle. Alonso had a tough tackling Mascherano alongside him. doesn't have to be a 6'3" DM who can do 100m in 11 seconds. Just someone who can tackle well and has fight to them. Flamini was this but is a liability and lost his edge.

Diego Costa would have been a risk given his record at Athleti with injuries. God knows how Chelsea put him out every week.

I posed a question the other day that got swallowed up with a question from ed02 where I said about Ozil being out and what options we had as below,

09 Oct 2014 08:53:09
In lieu of one of Dags jokes with Walcotts return on the horizon and Ozil now out along with Giroud and saying Flamini was our go to DM for a little longer, who would you like to see as our front five,

A) Sanchez, Welbeck, Walcott, Ramsey, Wilshere

B) Sanchez, Welbeck, Chamberlain, Cazorla, Ramsey

C) Campbell, Welbeck, Sanchez, Cazorla, Chamberlain

D) Cazorla, Welbeck, Sanchez, Chamberlain, Wilshere

E) another set up of your own making, if so who?

I think we clearly have a lot of attacking talent and I actually think that like most if Ozil was playing in his favoured role as per the game against Galatasaray we wouldn't be asking this question.

Hopefully the break will do him good, he'll come back into a team high on confidence and help us achieve something positive.

Dags I think I may have replied to your question on Greeny's below but they are similar questions so if I have see below. Lol. :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes but not as much as the years that follow.
You never know what you've got till its gone and I think the next 3 months Danny Welbeck will miss him a lot and next season onwards it's going to hurt watching him rip teams apart playing in the number 10 position for Bayern

Good question Red Dog,

I'm going to go for A, as I think it gives us the best attacking option and pace.

Well thought out question mate. Respect.

Afternoon all,

Just having a little think about our injury situation and who will be playing when we take on Hull on 18th Oct.

I think Ozil being injured could actually be a massive blessing in disguise. I would love to see Ramsey or Oxlade-Chamberlain in the number 10. I think Rambo would get back amongst the goals if he played there and we'd be saying Mesut Who? Also the Ox is our most direct player who loves taking on players and having a shot. I also think he would be very dangerous in the number 10 role.

Welbeck, Sanchez, Ramsey & Walcott as our front four is on the horizon. Although, by then, Welbz and Alexis will be injured.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

11 Oct 2014 15:01:58
Greeny,

Ox as number 10?

Hhmm, interesting.

Why not?

Agree0 Disagree0

Playing with someone in the 10 position while Mesuts injured? Yup sounds a very us thing to do :-)
Ox to me is starter no question and I'd go
Rambo Ox Jack
Theo. Danny Sanchez
As good as we have available and could be the future, we know what and who doesn't work for us so let's give this a try for a 5 game run instead of what's been tried and tried again

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah Dags, I think it would be a nightmare for defenders but all being fit, Ramsey would play.
