Use our rumours form to send us arsenal transfer rumours.

11 Sep 2014 21:53:29
We all know Arsene always prefers one up top so, if Deadly Dan does good in the absence of Monsieur Giroud, and scores a fair amount, does Olly come back as our main striker or does Danny boy keep his place as our No.1?

Or, two up top?
Personally, I would love to see what they are like as a twosome.

What say you?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

11 Sep 2014 22:09:05
I'm guessing it will depend on how many a fair amount is, if he's putting them away for fun along with Sanchez and Walcott he'd be mad to drop him.

Equally I'd be amazed if he went too up top, he only overloads our attackers when we're getting desperate.

I note that looker Louis Van Gash has said today he let him go because he simply didn't score enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think Danny Boy has come to us to play second fiddle to Giroud, once he is fit again.
Welbeck has come here to get regular playing time, and to be honest, by the time we get to the new year, with Walcott back playing as well, Giroud could find it hard to get a full 90 mins.
Not sure if Welbeck and Giroud would work together though.
Really excited about Welbeck, he could be a massive player for us now, and the future.
Wish I could be at the game on saturday, but couldn't get a ticket.COYG

Nice dilemma for Arsene

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Yeah, it's like asking what bollock you would rather have cut off. Why did Wenger get rid of Bendtner and sign Welbeck when Georgios Samaras was available on a free?}

11 Sep 2014 23:35:36
Ed,

Good shout Samaras, especially as you said, on a freebie.

Win/win.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'd probably rate Samaras as good as Welbeck, obviously WBA disagree, they signed Samaras instead!}

Lol well looks like ed is a bit bitter. Sounds like a Manchester United fan from Surrey maybe? On a serious note though, you're entitled to your opinion, but Welbeck is clearly a better footballer than him. He's certainly younger. And if you did in fact support Manchester United as I expect, isn't a bit short sighted to get rid of a young striker who has never got a chance to play up front regularly, and keep a player with his best years firmly behind him and a bog fat tummy in front of him, and a striker that spent about 5 years of the 7 before he moved to you out Injured and hasn't hot form for a year, and get a new striker who's not been fit for quite a while and, if rumours are to be believed, has pretty shot knees?

Agree0 Disagree0

People where on here crying out for a god like striker. Samaras fits the bill

Agree0 Disagree0

He is a Herculean kinda chap to be fair ulster. Kinda looks like a spartan as well. God ed you've sold it to me. Get samaras in!

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd bring him in as competition for Szeneny and Ospina. I read somewhere once that jesus saves

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Sep 2014 08:05:27
Ed007 is a die hard Celtic supporter

Agree0 Disagree0

It will be intersting for sure when Giroud gets fit, as to where they all fit in, athough wellbeck can be used out wide I rather walcott and Sanchez take those spots. At least now Giroud has some genuine competition for his place which will keep both on their toes.

Agree0 Disagree0

Welbeck played a lot of our season we lost out to city on gd upfront mate, he got 2 league goals!

Maybe its a bit funny u now lording him before he's even kicked a ball ( or fallen over it lol)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - You've had the Cruyff Turn, the Ronaldo Step-Over now we've got the Welbeck Fall-Over-Ball.}

12 Sep 2014 14:37:43
CR, don't be bitter - he played 25 games last season (most out of position) and got 9 goals in the league.

Or did he fall over 9 times and the ball bounce off him?

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Sep 2014 15:31:12
Obviously 337 reading is not your forte lol I said the season we lost on Goal Difference, the year city first won the PL!

Danny played a lot of the season in his favoured position and scored TWO goals, I just find the creaming over a player before he's kicked a ball for u funny.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Sep 2014 16:09:15
Hell I must have missed that, somebody lording Welbeck up.

I'm guessing United buying two world class players to add to the zero they had before is something to get chipper about.

At least they managed to hang on to Anderson, Valencia, Carrick, Smalling, Jones, Young, Fletcher, Fellaini and Evans, they will make the difference coming of the bench ;-)

You got to love em :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Sep 2014 18:16:39
Lol red dog u have got to get over this united complex u have my friend, simple fact is many arsenal fans have been claiming welbeck as the 2nd coming! I said many times I feel he will do well for u just u lot need to calm down a bit!

Remember he was our 5th choice striker and I would call any1 a liar if our 1st 3 strikers would not of been preferred than Danny.

Welbeck was put on the wing for a reason my friend.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Sep 2014 19:39:41
United complex, PMSL, you are on our page, yes?

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Sep 2014 10:42:52
CR, just to clarify my reading is fine, but surely a player should be judged on 'recent form' not past?

I could pick a season from the great TH14 time at juve where his stats were worse than DW, but as we know once he joined the mighty Arsenal things changed slightly!

Now bugger off back to your own page

On Arsenal sightings.

2nd picture, bloke in red top.

Who is it?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Thats me Dags when I was young, I think I was around 14 at the time and was taking a break from my paper round at the time.
I don't miss that job, that M25 is longer than iit looks when you've got a bike that's stuck in 3rd gear permanently

g62 you are far to wise for your own tender years ;-) can I take that back? :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Red if you wake up the morning shirtless looking 60 +: singing "Jack must be sold Jack must be sold and now you've got to believe me and now you've got to believe me, and Sanoooogooo toooo! "

"Were you relieved Zigic was not signed?".

25% said no.

Who wanted Zigic?
C'mon, own up.

Will he be Rooney or RVP's replacement, he could genuinely become an Old Trafford legend. ;-)

{Ed025's Note - united will offer £40m for him..they like buying crap.. :)

I totally agree CTR mate, I think Falco will struggle too and you'll send him back and sign a player more fitting of utd

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - like zigic?..

11 Sep 2014 21:30:14
Lol, now that's banter boys.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats a good idea Ed, Zigic to utd!
If the crap fits give it 350,000 aweek and pay off of 50 million 7 months later.
Now that's class

Agree0 Disagree0

I clicked no because I didn't believe we were ever going to sign him, so no relief was necessary.

Ramsey has only a small chance of playing on Saturday according to Wenger.

His injury is short term . he says

Believable0 Unbelievable0

11 Sep 2014 20:44:25
Let's hope he makes it mate.

We will need all our big players to be fit to beat Man Titty.

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally Dags I would rest him, get him fully fit. We have some big matches coming up.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Sep 2014 22:53:58
True mate,

Think he might have to sit out the Dortmund game too.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Sep 2014 13:02:28
If he's not 100% I would rather he sat out tmrw and was ready for next week, we have plenty of options in midfield

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Sep 2014 19:19:37
Michael Owen has finally said something posetive about Arsenal. Well an Arsenal player actually. ' As his England career suggest, when he plays in the middle he can certainly score goals n I think he is a great but for arsenal'. For once I believe Owen can actually REASON!

from the AFC site

Speaking on September 11, ahead of the Man City game, Arsene Wenger said: "Walcott is two to three weeks away from joining full training."

Clearly mixed up with Theo

I see Arteta and Gibbs are back to normal

Why is Wenger making no mention of Abu Diaby?
Perhaps we will loan him out and let another club pay his wages?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

11 Sep 2014 21:31:49
Can't see anybody taking him mate

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Sep 2014 14:59:13
Am I misreading Wenger's comment in respect of preferring to sign Welbeck on an initial loan deal, with an option to buy, rather than simply buying him?
If so, I question Wenger's judgement, as we desperately needed a striker and Welbeck is a young, rapid, English striker that fits the bill perfectly. Unless, of course, the loan method with buy out option, is a way of deferring payment to a later date for financial reasons. Either to keep profits high, for tax purposes or to comply with FFP regulations.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

11 Sep 2014 16:10:36
Haven't we bought him outright?

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes we have, but I fail to understand the point Wenger is trying to make.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Sep 2014 18:12:01
I did read a report that he initially wanted him on loan Robbie, but than bought him outright.

Agree0 Disagree0

Here's something to brighten the mood.

Spurs is on the market for 1billion pound!

LMAO! Has Oul Joe gone senile or has he been abducted and replaced by Dr Evil?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

11 Sep 2014 14:12:53
I will start the bidding at £4.36 :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Ha! £1 billion, plus fund the stadium! From what I understand the Toot can't finance the stadium, so are okay with the current delay.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Sep 2014 16:23:35
What we really need is someone like the Glazers to come in and buy the club with a billion quid loan and see them struggle to make the repayments on that baby!

Agree0 Disagree0

DAGS
Why go in with such a big offer, Who is going to top that offer
I understand that their old ground might be listed Grade 2 building (its that old)
I think it would make a fantastic gypsy site.

The first was buying the club,

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Sep 2014 19:54:40

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Sep 2014 10:54:04
Next season we could have a major overhaul in midfield

Arteta
Rosicky
Diaby
Flamini
Coquelen

These players may all realistically be in their last year with the club. Could this be the reason for inactivity for midfielders in the transfer market? With next seasons budget set aside to replace what is a sizable chunk of the squad?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think Arteta will resign soon, not sure about the rest.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats a fair shout, they will be moved on soon

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we will now concentrate on DEFENSE, we have enough of midfielders and strikers if you count Sanagoo as one.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Sep 2014 10:39:47
wow everyone seems so happy and chirpy on the banter page today boys and girls. Hows about we lighten things up and stay cheery. Stop throwing your dummies out the pram.

Whats peoples thoughtson the score this weekend. I'm going for a 2-1 win for us. I think we will step it up a knotch and prove we can beat the bigger sides.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Honestly, the way we have played so far, I would be content with a draw.

We played half the city first team in the Charity shield. This is going to be a much more difficult task.

If the boys pulled a win outta the bag like I'd be absolutely ecstatic.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Sep 2014 14:15:05
A cheeky 2-1 win and an even cheekier Deadly Dan winner.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hope your right DG, I for one am not of Dans biggest fans but I really do hope he proves me wrong.

Ulster have a little faith, I know we wernt firing on all cylinders but we've had the international break and hopefully the lads will come back in a better form. Also dontforget city took a beating in there last game =]

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Sep 2014 08:03:35
a few weeks ago I read that uefa were looking to close the current coefficient system and just fill pot 1 with the 7 league winners and defending champions. why do u guys think this is being done, how will the other pots be filled and what are the concern with the current system.

it does make sense to have all winners in pot 1, but the coefficient system promoted continuity and sustained performances rather than just one hit wonders

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I know it would not be to our benefit but I agree that the winners of the league should be first seed in selecting the groups.

As much as I don't like City, they won the league fair and square. Why should they get a more difficult group than us?

In the race for champions league, Arsene's quite happy for us to drag our @sses over the line in last place. Maybe with this rule changing we will see more of a effort to actually win the league or even an improvement in squad strength as getting out of the group will be much more difficult.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Sep 2014 07:08:48
Let me set the mooooood.
Who would you say are the most disappointing players at Arsenal at the moment. No telling lies now and I promise nobody will tell you off for being honest. Who's brave enough?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

11 Sep 2014 07:27:34
Well I guess that's another way around it, people having another little moan about Jack again and there's your opening, easy to start it all again.

We know you don't like him and you want him sold.

Thanks I truly have got it now.

Maybe you'll get a chance to mention about him being the biggest diver in the club as no one picked up on that point last week with the exception of SY4.

Agree0 Disagree0

Welbeck I expected a ot more from him than we've seen so far this season plus Walcott might as well not be on the pitch and as for Gnarby don't get me started on him needs to up his performance as he's been almost invisible so far this season.
But a part from those 3 I think the entire team has been jolly splendid

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you only come on here to have a go at me mate. I would have thought going by your topless photo you must be well into your late 60s that you would be a bit more sensible. But that's age for you.

Agree0 Disagree0

G62

you missed out myachi and coquelin!

Agree0 Disagree0

Stoner I'm guessing you wasn't very good a battle ships as kid mate :-) you walked straight into that one :-).

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Sep 2014 08:25:44
Jeez Goldboy, If I'm looking like I'm in my 60's how old does that make you from looking at that old boy sat next to his daughter in your kitchen.

Like I said before, you come on here to moan about Jack Wilshere, paying to watch football, Yaya Sanogo, that football will go bust and simply recycle the same drivel.

Maybe when you get together with DG you can give me a shout, i'll invite FIBBY, EDDIE5555 and GOODOLDARSENAL and I'll even pick those three up and the four of you can lay into him to your hearts content.

Chin up pops it'll be a laugh :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely we're all to old for this lads?
A very thinly disguised attempt to reinvigorate the Jack debate has quickly degenerated into personal attacks.
Two things I like to say and please feel free to open fire on me as much as you like but I really couldn't care less
1 Jacks certainly not been any less impressive than most so far this season, he did really well in the CL 2 nd leg game.
2 surely this site isn't about trying to wind each other up! Debate disagree voice your opinion by all means but come on why would you want to deliberately start an argument that takes hours to swap insults and complete!
Sounds like a waste of time to me.
Sometimes disagreements happen between people that's life but to actively seek them? What's that about,

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Sep 2014 09:22:17
Oohh Stoner,

Having a cheeky pop at me too?

Love it.

While you pop off to school, some of us big boys have to go to work, so don't really have time to answer you right now.

Well said G62, this is a friendly banter page.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey people please can we stop the personal insult stuff, we are degrading what is IMO a fantastic fun site.
Stoner when I first come on this page you were a regular poster mate but it does seem you only post now days in response to GOLDBOY, please just do what everyone else does and scroll down the repetitive bits you don't like .
Golds it is true that 87.24 % of your posts do include Jack Sanogo or Rooney, personally I don't mind because unless they are topical I just respect your right to post what you want totally ignore it and scroll down the page, obviously some people find that harder to do than others.
But if this page descends into a permanent state of personal attracts on other posters not only will it stop new people joining but it will drive regular people away leaving this page looking like an international break week ( without the jokes of course:-) in the height of the season. ( anyone sent Jenny?)
Please let's respect other posters and the Ed's of course.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Sep 2014 11:29:20
G62 I understand fully what you're saying fella and it's always a pleasure to read the site, I just find it incredulous that someone would take every little opportunity to slate Jack.

He may or may not come good, personally I hope he does but to beat on him week in week out is just crazy, there is so much good about the team these days.

Dagenham despite your somewhat daft retort I used your name simply because I read on the other page that Goldboy had asked the eds to pass his details to you re meeting up.

I apologise if you were offended but none was intended and am surprised you took it as a sly dig, no reason to dig at you fella, you are one of the brighter lights but at the same time if you took it as such not a lot I can do about that.

Also note I didn't start with the playground cr4p I simply expressed my continued disbelief.

Agree0 Disagree0

It funny. Topless 60 year old followed by old guy sitting beside his daughter lol, quality.

G62 playing the Bono role appealing for peace on both sides. Getting an image of a chubby posh chap on his hands and knee's hands wrenched out in despair. If only everybody could love everybody!

Keep it up gentlemen, an amusing read. :-)

dagenham it's occured to me that when i said the four of you could slate jack to your hearts content i'm guessing you thought i included you in that statement when i was simply referring to goldboy, eddide5555, fibby and goodoldarsenal.

to see the four of them in the same room will be a sight to behold. ;-)

i could be wrong but think that was your school boy error ;-) so seriously, no offence was meant to you.

Hi Stoner,

Yes I did take it that way, I probably read it wrong, and my reply was all in the spirit of good fun.

I wasn't offended by what you said, and in turn, my response to you was a lighthearted retort.

Its all good banter, that's why this Arsenal page is regarded, even by the Eds, as possibly the best of the bunch.

Personal plea to everybody, as G62 said, banter is great, humour is great, a difference of opinion is great, but let's cut out the personal comments about people.

I'm addressing that (if I may), to everybody and no specific person(s).

Come on people, play nice.

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha the stats on Goldboy slating jack was precise to the point, well done G62.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well this has all got very aggressive!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ulster do I have to be bono? I'd much rather be Kofi Amman as I like and respect him.
Stoner as I said earlier when I joined this site you were a regular poster and I can't remember any adverse comments or arguments involving you at all, and the fact you not only apologised to DG but also took the time to think where he may have misunderstood what you ment and took the time to post again says it all to me, I really admire you for that mate

Shrewd from Arsene, I guess that is exactly what he wanted to avoid

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I was never in favour of a move for Khedira. I would love to see us push out the boat and sign Pogba, plus Van dijk in the January window. Then our squad would look formidable.
