Sanogo?

And the debate continues, lol.

Golds, if you reply, no swearing please mate

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Please don't go there. Me I thought the lad did great.

Agree0 Disagree0

He has a better shot than Sheerar, better long range passing than Beckham and a better clearance that any keeper ever! All cleverly disguised as a first touch., Legend says me

Agree0 Disagree0

He seems to be permanently off-balance and he has the first touch of a camel with no legs. But Wenger sees something in him and despite his flaws I still trust Wenger's judgement and fully expect to see Sanogo develop into at least a decent, giroud-level striker.

Agree0 Disagree0

DG. the young lad did well, stop being a drama queen please!

Agree0 Disagree0

62
that made me laff but I agree.
Dags i'm not sure, what I've seen does make me think, Wow
but he is very young and has pass to burn.but make a few seasons in the carling cup or on loan,
We need at least 1 world class striker

Agree0 Disagree0

G62 love it mate.

Word, fair comment mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

DG.i hope I didn't sound rude, its just that, we got the young lad on a free from the french 2nd division as a possible talent for the future and due to no fault of his own he has been thrust into the limelight with immense pressure being put on his shoulders and I am a little worried that his young confidence could be destroyed.we all need to support him.any blame for the situation we are in (lack of quality strikers) lies elsewhere

Agree0 Disagree0

The word, no of course not mate.
I don't think anybody blames Sanogo, he runs his heart out and tries his best.

Personally, I like the kid but he should not be put into a position where he is leading the line in such an important game, not his fault.

The blame lies elsewhere mate.

not to get ahead of ourselves, as we have a tense end of season to get through, but heres my optimistic/maybe realistic transfer hopes.

gk - casillas/begovic/van der stegen
rb - serge aurier
cb - papadopoulos
dm - lars bender
cf - lukaku or mandzukic

id be amazed if we managed to get a haul like this but after a few pints tonight I have to be hopeful. bear in mind this is assuming sagna, arteta, vermaelen and bendtner etc leave the club.

also if we don't buy a new keeper i'd be happy enough with wojciech.

who thinks this is within our so called £100 million ish budget?

or who thinks we actually have a £100 million budget?

answers on a postcard.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lars bender is in awful form recently, maybe a change is what he needs, and could mean he's cheaper.

Serge aurier will be an amazing full back in my opinion just needs time and we are great at waiting for things!

Lukaku would be a real coup! Chelsea and Everton lose a top player and we gain one. Sadly can't see that one happening as well as Casillas/Begovic and Bender. Too many high profile transfers in one season for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

Any keeper will do for me or get Fabianski to sign a new contract
Richards at RB
Lescott or Kaboul on a free and Virgil Van Dijk from Celtic
Either of the Bender brothers or Kondogbia
Benzema or Hernandez

Who knows, just a bunch of names I've plucked from the sky!

Come on everybody let's be positive.

Yes, we were awful but we are in the final.

Remember, we beat Spurs, Liverpool and Everton en-route and have just beat last years winners, and with half our team out, that's no mean feat.

Also, if you won £1m on the lottery, would you worry if it was a scratch-card, lucky dip, your normal numbers or you found the winning ticket on the floor? NO?
Of course you wouldn't. So no moaning or slagging off Wenger or the team.

Suck it up, move on and enjoy because we are in the bloody FA Cup final.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - wise words DG..makes a nice change from you.. ;)

Oh, I forgot to mention, when we beat West Ham on Tuesday we will get OUR 4th spot back. So, message to Ed025, like I said earlier, suck it up and move on (smiles at Ed025)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - you may have some tired legs out there come tuesday DG, and big sam loves putting spanners in works, so it may not be as easy as you think mate..game on!..

You've had worse ideas DG, rather jolly decent post. Let's not have an inquest into a good day

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you could be right Ed.

Very true G62

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Apr 2014 23:16:18
If we've regularly done one thing well it's come from behind to take fourth spot.

All the pressure is on Everton to maintain a run of form. Last time Martinez attempted to get a team into fourth spot he only managed 3rd from bottom and they got relegated.

Pressure pressure pressure. Hey ed025 :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - no pressure really jenny, your run-in is a lot easier on paper....its a pity its played on grass really..im sure the best team will get 4th...i just hope its us!...come on you "ammers"... :)

I like how it's "OUR" 4th spot DG haha

i can't believe all the negativity regarding arsenal getting through.
'they need a reality check for celebrating getting to the fa cup final against a championship side' really? what were they supposed to do sulk and cry?
come on ffs. how many times have we dominated games and got nothing, carling cup final we outplay bham throughout, yet lose.
Blackburn last season- we outplay them throughout yet lose.
today against a in form championship side, the defending champions, the team that knocked out a very strong man city side at the Etihad stadium, whom we may have struggled to dominate but still got the win even though everything looked to be against us.
so many times over the last few years we have wished we could end our trophy drought but didn't have the luck in the finals, and now we have another huge opportunity to do so, but for some reason in many peoples opinion its not important or good enough.
what happened to trophies being the thing a team is judged on? what happened to trophies being the thing that we all remember and cherish.
what ever has gone on in this season, to come out at the end with a trophy will be a joy, especially considering there hasn't been much joy over the last few years.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

12 Apr 2014 21:32:21

yes you are in the final but that result is just papering the cracks I said all season you are average and today proved it lucky you were not playing city as it would have been a hiding never mind see you on thursday nights with us soon

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Is this the same Man City that Wigan beat in the last round at the Etihad?

And yet we're still in a final and you're struggling to draw with West Brom?

Cheers for your input mate but worry about your own team first :)

The best team won
Wigan created very little and frustrated us,
They have beat some good side to get this far, as have we
Now with the finale at the end of may i'm hopping we will have some players back.
Not brilliant, but know one will remember it if we win,
now push for fourth
Great support by the fans, a credit to see them sing all the way threw.
We have played well and got nothing so we must take this.their goal could have been a foul to us

Believable0 Unbelievable0

12 Apr 2014 20:37:18
Well I don't know what to say. Respect to wigan and we are in the final. But what is happening to our football club. Its just not exiting watching them, passing backward, sideways and making bad decisions time after time. Our football is so predictable and lacking passion. I want to be happy, but while I am pleased we are in the final and respect to that. We were only very good at penalties. Where has my arsenal gone.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

12 Apr 2014 20:21:58
Sorry should add Fabs was excellent when called upon, though I still maintain play your strongest side.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

12 Apr 2014 20:20:06
Well a win is a win, Ox was outstanding, some of the lads have gone right off the boil, our early season form was stunning, it seems the Liverpool game was the turning point.

We beat Wigan from The championship on Penalties BUT Man City couldn't so we should say they are a tough outfit to crack, and they have beaten us before so it was never going to be easy, but for the woodwork the scoreline would have been very different.

So for the final we could well have all players available that were at the start of the season apart from Theo, how ironic that would be seeing as we have struggled for a decent squad since December they are all back for the final in May.

Now we have something to look forward to let's go and win the last 5 league games .

4th is a real priority now

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I see Podolski has gone down the tunnel, he must have been injured?

If it stays like this it won't help I an Poulter with his preparation for the 3rd of the Masters

Believable0 Unbelievable0

12 Apr 2014 18:32:56
Monreal is as bad as Andre Santos. Needs to be booted out in the summer. Shocking defending. Why Per makes the challenge I have no idea! Guy was running away from the goal and Sagna was covering as well.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

12 Apr 2014 17:15:15
Now if Giroud had missed that header many on hear would be slaughtering him, IMO a very poor miss from Sanogo

Believable0 Unbelievable0

My bet giroud wouldn't have been in the box or would have headed wide, remember its not the emirates so he don't like scoring

Agree0 Disagree0

Viroid would have still been complaint to a ref about a fee kick he never deserved 5 minutes ago

Agree0 Disagree0

Sadly Banbury I the chances are Giroud would have missed it too

Agree0 Disagree0

G62

Just a guess, how many minutes has Sanogo had

Now we are 1 nil down

As I said start with your strongest possible line up, was Gibbs 'that' injured? let's hope not because he might have to play for over an hour if we go to extra time

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Apr 2014 17:07:01
Only two of our starting line up has played at Wembley for Arsenal

Says it all

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Its more than two but given not for arsenal lol

Agree0 Disagree0

So it is two then?

Agree0 Disagree0

Chill out mate, I was putting your comments in context

2 if you think of arsenal only

but more than 2 if you look at the whole starting lineup as a whole

Agree0 Disagree0

74

That is the whole starting line up

Agree0 Disagree0

Only when they've played for arsenal, if you count playing for their countries it more than 2

semantics I know but I was just trying to point it out

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Apr 2014 16:40:37
Sanogo starts instead of Giroud. Nice choice Arsene. Why oh why are you doing it to me? What is it with not starting off with the strongest team? Don't these managers realise by now that supporters want to see the strongest team that is available on the pitch. I'm not bothered whether we play in the FA Cup, League Cup, Community Shield, Boiled Egg Cup, or whatever. We want to see our team win silverware. Bring the fringe players in when we are comfortably in front with 15 minutes to go. Arsene you are not doing yourself any favours with me if we lose today mate.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't get it either, a head shaker mate

Agree0 Disagree0

He wants Giroud to make an impact as sub after Sanogo has taken the brunt of the CB's knocks, as he did in the QF and Giroud scored twice.
Right or wrong that's his thinking

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair sanago looking brighter than giroud, neither good enough for arsenal don't get me wrong but sanago link up play with ox has been good for first 10mins

Agree0 Disagree0

Alright I must stress the emphasis on ten mins, if only he could control the ball better

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Apr 2014 16:27:44
Whatever the result, at least we're not Spurs.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

12 Apr 2014 16:21:31
Today would be the perfect day to roll back the clock just a few months and play our pre December football, the pundits were purring about how good we were to watch and fans from other clubs were coming on our page to say how much they enjoyed watching us too.
Wembley is the ideal place to relaunch your season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Only problem mate most of the team are in the treatment room

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Apr 2014 16:19:46
Just having an argument with some mates, anyone to help. Has Giroud ever scored from outside the box (for Arsenal that is)?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Only with his mistress mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Fa cup last season curler into the top corner, can't remember who it was though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nope don't recall him scoring from outside the box

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok I found out it was against brighton, good goal too.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Apr 2014 16:06:11
Honestly?!

Bambi starts in arguably the biggest game of the season after the way it has turned out.

Just shows the shocking lack of squad depth. Arsene is to blame for that. I hope he is saving the money for his successor. I wish he would have just spent some of it himself and this season could have went so differently.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

12 Apr 2014 15:10:03
I don't care for our players spreading locker room gossip or explaining to media why we can't get over the hump

What they ought to realize is, about a decade ago, maybe 2-3 of them see pitch time on this team, forget starting

They've forgotten what a privilege it is to play for Arsenal Football Club

I don't care that this is a cup semifinal. They are Wigan. Tier 2. End of. It better be an ass kicking.

If the boys don't come out pissed off, ready to right the worst month of footy I've seen in a while, then there's no hope.

Wigan are on a no looser, so I think its going to be hard, but I we can get an early goal, i'm plumping for a 4-1

We don’t have a game today so I thought I would just pop over to wish you all the best of luck today.

I have never been to the new Wembley and I would have loved to be in the semi-finals but your guys shattered that dream for us this season.

If you don’t take Wigan too lightly then you will have far too much for them and you should have a brilliant day out.

Given Arsene some noise because whether he stays or goes at the end of the season he deserves shedloads of respect.

Will watch the game on TV and I expect some good football from both sides.

Man Citeh at our place tomorrow and Anfield will be shaking its foundations; but that is for another day. All eyes on you today and just enjoy the whole experience.

There are only two teams I can remember who were so good they never needed to comprise or adapt their style at any time, the invincibles and Barca under Pep Gardiola, and even their supremacy would have lastred longer if they had been a little more flexible in their approach at times.
Maybe this Arsenal team with a bit more adaptability and only two or three new signings really could surprise us all and everyone else.

In truth we maybe aren't as far away as we have made our self's look at times (chavski city Liverpool Everton ) and as little as £60 million and just different approach when necessary would make the world of difference

Now I'm ready for my first time at the new Wembley to see the boys. Taking my son for his 21st birthday so praying the team win!

On a wider front, I'm praying we win this cup. Not because I am comparing to previous years or seeking reasons to show improvement or other wise but because we need to get this 9 year old "haven't won anything" monkey off our backs.

Win this and it could just be a rite of passage and the team will lose it's cherry on trophy wins!

some of this backlash probably warrants not spending of ridiculous amounts of money; saw a comment something along lines of 'we will have paid £42 million to win fa cup/not win anything at all'

it's a good point, but as Arsene Wenger you'd decide maybe not to do that again (save yourself from losing a SHUGLOAD from of money, maybe alienating more fans in that manner quoted above)
and maybe focus on building the team together, not splash out and buy the striker we need or a commanding midfielder etc etc

things won't change but if he does decide to buy large again i'd want it to be for the good of the TEAM not to appease the fans
(ozil was an exception because he was both)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We get abuse when don't spend and win nothing. And, abuse when we spend to 'only' win the fa cup. Honestly I couldn't care what they spend as-long as we win something. It's a business to the board but to the fans its our life.

Arsenal Football Club.

One of the biggest clubs in world football.

But, we are probably the only 'big' club to have not won anything for the past 8 years without sacking their manager.

We have the highest season tickets in Europe, if not the world, but always full houses every game.

We have a very loyal fan-base who always support the manager and the team.

Enough is enough.

Arsene, we have trusted you over the years, supported you and have treated you like a saviour.
Except for a few, we have defended you and trusted you to bring back the glory years.
We have no divine right to win anything but our loyalty deserves reward.

Can we please go to Wembley tomorrow and put on a show. No disrespect to Wigan, far from it, they deserve the highest accolades for their FA Cup achievements, last year and this, but can you please get the team to perform to the standards befitting of a supposed world class team.

Come on Arsene and Arsenal, we use to be proud to be Gooners, make us proud again.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

DAGS
agree with what your saying but no orther team has built a stadium in the last 8 yrs
I has to have had an efect on the budget.
surly silient stan is to blame not the manager, he has done an amzing job to keep us at the top,
i hope he has 2 more years to show us what he can do with a few class players, and some of his amazing finds.
please please Lord Wenger, get us thru this one

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm listening Dags and so are a lot of Arsenal fans. But is he mate? . You know what I mean.

Agree0 Disagree0

On Welsh's comment.
Yes the stadium build HAD AN AFFECT but that time passed2/3 years ago when money started to be hoarded. If stan is holding the club back I'm ashamed of Wenger for not walking away and being open to the loyal fans who pay big money year in year out to watch the team. Il remind you that ticket prices are going up again by 3%. And when a club continually does this on the back of claiming when the stadium is built it would yield CHEAPER tickets it becomes embarrassing and insulting to the fans.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said Dags, that pretty much sums it up.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree wenger has had ample time to right the wrongs of this great club. A club this size cannot carry anybody on sentiment, be it wenger or anyone this club will still be here after we have all long gone, that is why it is so frustrating too see loyal fans robbed of success by a manager who is always trying to save a penny while others will spend to succeed. Wenger this could be your last hurrah before you leave go out and show the rest we are still a great successful club. give the players a deserved kick up the backside and win the fa cup
