Plenty of good posts regarding le coq. As regards to whether we play him or buy an additional DM ...... I don't see why we shouldn't buy another quality DM. The thing about coq is that he can actually play the central or wide midfield and as we know only too well we seem to always get a plague of injuries at some time during the season.

We would certainly look a better team with one dm on the pitch and one in the recovery room than we looked at the start of this season.

3 goalkeeping errors handing the Chavs the title on a plate. Hull, Stoke and QPR all the better teams against them in the last 3 weeks and their goalkeepers have let them down.

I'm not saying we'd have won it but we certainly would have been closer without those errors. In the end I suppose we only have ourselves to blame for our start to the season.

Build with 3/4 players in the summer in crucial positions and we'll do well next year when I may have to bow down and apologise to AW.

I agree its down to us and our indifferent 1st half to the season more than other keepers that we will run out of games this season, and I'm really pleased for and with Arsene that his new found adaptability is paying off.
I don't really see the need for apologies because although I never agreed with the personal stuff some of the tactics that were questioned were right at the time.
What's done is done and what have now is all that matters and it just so happens what we have is pretty fantastic so onwards and upwards I say and let's leave the past were it belongs

My question to you fellow Gooners, is Coquelain the real deal, or do we need to splash the cash on a top defensive midfielder this Summer?

Theres no doubt Coquelain is one of the main reasons behind our great form and league position in 2015. He has been playing out of his skin, and is statistically the best DM in the league.

In the past I think Wengers loyalty to players has beem damaging on a number of occasions. Its certainly paying off in the case of Giroud. Coquelain has certainly earnt his first team place, but does he keep it? Is he good enough to be our first choice for next season.

Ouch Detroit got an easier question mate?
Yes most deffinately he deserves to keep his place absolutely no question about that but can or will he be able to produce this incredible form again next season is something I've been asking myself too.
Personally I say yes he's the real deal and should start next season as our no1 DM and Spyder or who ever comes in the summer would have to displace rotate fit in along side him.
Being loyal to those who haven't been able to reach or maintain the required standard has deffinately been a problem for us but so far Le Coq hasn't put a foot wrong in what is it now 18 games? Which puts him a completely different bracket to Jack and Theo who I'm not sure have ever played that many games in one spell let alone consistently shown the quality required.

If another DM comes in then he will have one hell of a job pushing Coquelin out of the starting 11.

As for Wengers loyalty it was actually good to see that fit again Wilshere and Arteta didn't make the match day squad as a lot of us feared they would automatically replace him once fit.

Totally agree Red this is a more expectant demanding Arsene who is awarding places on merit not in the name of squad harmony, do the business and you keep your place but fail to measure up and your only hope is to be a sub if your lucky.
Just as it should be imo

he reminds me of gilberto, although not as physical he is a lion at heart, to play against yaya, fellaini and come up top is epic.

schneiderlin should be signed as flamini and diaby and even arteta can't be counted on or won't be around.

No matter who wins what this season surely there can only be one manager of the year Koeman.
Instead of understandably being relegated Southampton will very likely qualify for Europe next season, obviously its one season is not always a good indicator of future success but this time round he has no rivals IMO

Everyone is "playing for the team"!

Ozil defending
Rambo playing wide right
Wenger and team not chasing silly extra goals

Great to hear Henry talking about Coq and how great he is. The goal was typical. Break up play and because he knows he has to protect the back 4 he passes rather than charges forward. He drops back, we score and he goes CRAZY because he did his job for the team.

Great to hear Bouldie talking about Ozil being on another level and putting in extra work to adapt and please the fans

Everything I hear about what's going on - I love! They deserve 2nd and the cup!!!!

I think, like Henry, the loan moves made Coq and proved Wenger right. Without it he would not be the player he is. we get believed or he would have sold him. Good call Wenger, same as playing Rambo the other year on the right to build his game....

In Wenger and Bouldie I trust - it's a team and I love them both!!!

I watched an interview with LeCoq after the Burnley game.

He was just spot on with everything he said.

The commentators asked him about playing at Charlton and then coming back to Arsenal and playing and he said something along the lines that there are peaks and troughs in every career and he is just working hard to stay in the peak and play in the arsenal side.

The commentators asked him about sitting in front of the Defence and he said every player has a role and that is his role and he is happy to do it if it helps the team win.

Lastly, the commentators asked him about playing with Cazorla. His response was that playing with Cazorla and Ozil made his job easier as they do not give the ball away.

I think LeCoq, because of his struggles early on - loans, looking like he would not make it - has his head on straight, does what is required of him, works hard in training, and although I think we should still buy Schneiderlin, maybe its as cover for LeCoq or as a second holding midfielder in some games. He was massive yesterday (again). He is quickly becoming one of my favourite players.

I know Ramsey was named man of the match, but in a scrappy contest like that it was LeCoq for me.

The guys on Sly named him as their MOTM and he was brilliant again. You'd have to be a bitter clown not to see the change in the team that he's made along with all their hard work or think Chris Smalling was top drawer. Oh that'll be that muppet CTR then, he is so desperate for us to fail.

Claude Makalele never got the plaudits and the mom wards very often above the Lampards and Drogba's but everyone knew he was the mam that made everything work so well, like Le Coq he put out fires before they even got started

Good result once again. Happy with the performance. Was a little weary of Burnley, they always seem to up their game against the big teams and also, the last kicks of a team facing relegation are usually deadly. Good defensive performance.

Its a very long shot chuck but it might just work :-) But back in the world of all probability the very best 2nd we can possibly be which included beating chavs at home and utd away and retaining the fa cup to me would feel like winning the title for this season and then look to go one better next season.
