Does anybody think Kongdogbia is worth £17.2 million?£34.4 million double signing for Gustavo and Kongdogbia anybody?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't quite get how a france U20 Dm who isn't as good as Pogba can be worth £17m.

Agree0 Disagree0

A double signing of Kondogbia and Gustavo would not make sense. I would prefer Gustavo, and if we have him I do not see a need for Kondogbia. please feel free to disagree, this site is about raising your opinion ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

If we have funds left after signing the positions we need, then absolutely. Kondogbia is a great prospect.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kondogbia apparently has an £8.5m release clause as reported by a web site(how credible that is I don't know) so if that were to be the case I'd take both

Agree0 Disagree0

Price is inflated because of 3rd party ownership

Agree0 Disagree0

We only need one of the two. Gustavo would make the biggest impact.

Arsenal in the transfer window is like watching deal or no deal. Just hope we don't end up in 1p club again.

Gustavo on his way, not the marque signing I was hoping for but a real solid player.

Eds. If Suarez is worth over £45 mill, Bale is supposed to be worth £85mill plus, how much would you or anyone else say Robin Van Persie is now worth? people I speak to think that RVP would be worth around the same as Bale if not more. AND! before anyone jumps down my throat and says that Bale is not worth that as the figures are over inflated WE all know that but that is the price that's flying around and Real may well pay it if not more. I'm still astounded that we virtually gave RVP away . UNBELIEVABLE! {Ed027's Note - are we all forgetting RVP was in his last year and 29, on top of that he only had one Injury free season, if that is not enough he only wanted Utd he turned down Juve and city.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Great reply ED

The price RVP would fetch now would only be higher due to his contact length at United, and even then, at 30, he's on the wrong side of his career.

If he was say 25 and playing like he has for the past two seasons, I would agree with you about the Bale money. At this point though, he would probably be valued at 40 Mil if he were for sale today, and that is extremely high for a 30 year old with an injury history

Agree0 Disagree0

RVP was 29 when we sold him, he is 30 now. he will have no re-sale value.

His wages are over 200k on top of that too.

with RVP and rooney Manchester United pay 25 million in wages alone.

If RVP was on the market he would probably go for less, due to his wages.

He scores goals, but he misses many too. he is no messi or ronaldo to just bury them with a sniff of a chance. rather it was he who fumbled a sitter to put madrid out in spain, and another back in OT, while madrid tore them a new one.

Great players rise to the occasion, and he never did it for us, and neither will he do so for them.

he is world class in talent. but just not the big boy he thinks he is.

Falcao, Aguero, Cavani, Suarez over him for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Aug 2013 12:04:52
yeah aware of that Ed027 but even so what would you say he was worth taking all that into consideration

{Ed022's Note - Ed027 is around at the moment so I am going to value RVP at £50 and a packet of ice gems...}

With chamakh now gone there is only bendtner and park to get rid off. The average ability off the squad is shooting up without any additions.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good one, very true.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes true we have jogged on a lot of dead wood the average ability will be better. Trouble is though our average is very low seeing as we have not added to our overall number with any more quality!

I still have rhae same feeling as the start of the window, that we will prob end up with Rooney it's just my opinion but I think being cheaper, having less bad mouth about him, having an advantage since we sold them rvp and plus rooney wanting a challenge it just makes sense IMO, I would rather saurez or even lewondawski but it's wishfull thinking. : Gk: begovic. Cb: Williams, sakho. Cdm: gustavo. Lw: nani. St: Rooney, saurez, lewondawski, michu. Would be my ideal transfers?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree I've also had the same feeling. Still think Rooney would be Wenger's first choice over Suarez.

Just don't understand Arsenal's logic in announcing how much money we've got to spend before the transfer market opened, surely any transfer prices would increase if you tell em how much you've got to spend.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would be happy but happier if we could improve on Nani as a signing

First team players need signing ASAP

Squad can be signed between now and end of window with some spots more urgent than others

Most important thing is to add quality so happy to wait as its a long season and all the games are not played in the first 2 weeks of August

At the same time - I want them as soon as possible for CL qualifier and a good start to season

Agree0 Disagree0

My ideal late summer would be -

GK - Ter Stegen
CB - Sakho
CDM - Gustavo
ST - Suarez

Get busy Wenger & Co!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think I'd prefer Rooney to Suarez honestly. Wouldn't complain with either or both -:) Wenger has an excellent track record of dealing with problem behaviours on and off the pitch if the players are motivated to be their best on the pitch, and both these guys want to play football more than anything else (nothing seemed to help Bendtner or Chamack, there is only so much one person can do). Gustavo would be an excellent addition, very exciting if we can get him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Look all jokes and bs aside.

the club has to have a plan .

i can't see suerez as the target, I just cant.

he is not the player we have at arsenal.
you can't tell me this is the arsenal way.

canavani did not go to psg for football he went for money.

why did we not go for his buy out clause, we have the money and can afford the wages, so we are told.

there is no other world class forward out there for sale.

it has to be rooney, I think he is affordable with wages.

i think there will be a bidding war.

1 of the 1st players wenger lost to an english club was ashley cole to mourinho.

would wenger love to get 1 over on him, that hurt wenger.

could it be pay back, were not short of challenging.add some 1 like gustarvo and top class 4th cb like sakho and if we can pinch ceasar.

we have a team then that will challenge.

dont know why ceasar has not signed for any 1 yet.hes not big money.he could be a big figure for the club with the world cup coming up.he could be huge for arsenal with sponsorship.

this is a logical plan and in budget even with wages, we must have cleared over 400k in wages a week.

just my take, i'm a bit stoned

Agree0 Disagree0

Just to add does any 1 know what utd would want for rooney.

i can really see surez going to munich.

i can also see lewandowski going to munich this window.i can not see dortmund letting him go for nothing.you have to remember football is a business and dortmund will come to an agreement for him with munich.german clubs don't act like that to each other.the same thing happened with rvp, he wanted to go and utd wanted him any we got 24 mill, we came to agreement and we can do the same back to them.this is how football works.john w henry would to sell to chelsea but would not sell to a direct opponent for that 4th spot.it would show how much liverpool had fallen behind.

as I said just my thoughts

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Utd would gladly sell him to us for 30 odd million.

however, he does not want to join Arsenal, but rather join chelsea, and his best friend in the whole wide world. Arsenal legend, and a person loved by everyone A$hley Col£.

now i'm not sure if mourinho is playing mind games. Does he want Rooney? is he trying to unsettle united? Just trying to cause havoc in the transfer market?

Wenger's piorities right now should be Sakho and Luis Gustavo.

Add some grit. and both the players want to join Arsenal.

Once we have done that we have to go all out for the striker.

however going by our awesome transfer window. we will leave it till the last week, start panic buying or end up with nothing, as the market has massively inflated.

Cesar, Sakho, Gustavo & Suarez = 1 happy gooner

Happy to take Rami and Rooney rather than Sakho and Suarez but prefer the above.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Rami has no pave gets far too many yellow cards. I think he committed the most fouls in LaLiga.

Suarez can score on his own from nothin and can dribble considering we play with a forward 3 he would suit is better.

Suarez will get us more goals

Agree0 Disagree0

How can you possibly say that Rami has no pave? He could own diamonds of varying types and you wouldn't have a clue. Given the modern footballer's penchant for bling I would be inclined to think he probably has much pave (although of course I cannot be sure - and neither can you).

I can't be the only one worried about our summer and the forthcoming season. We have signed Yaya Sanogo, and the Premiership kicks off in 5 days. I'm not too worried about some of our outgoing transfers like Aneke (gain experience), Bendtner (not needed), Djourou (not needed) etc etc etc. However, these types of sales have become a problem to me, as we have let go so many 'fringe' players that we now have a very thin squad. We're supposed to be competing on four trophy fronts this season, however I can see this season being one of worst of recent memory if we do not invest in at least 5 players, especially as clubs around us have been strengthening and spending money. We should have signed Julio Cesar by now. We should sign Luis Gustavo seeing as we've become so interested in him. I also believe we need another centre back, and some more options up front. Thoughts on who people would like to see at Arsenal and what you think our business will be over the coming weeks would be interesting!

just been watching Ibrahimovic vids on youtube - the guys absolute class.

we could do with him; or the 'next Ibrahimovic' if Wenger can find such a beast.

any news on players Wenger might be looking at to strengthen the squad Eds?

thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That Bakkali seems like a decent young winger too. Hope we snap him up. Could do with a decent dribbler/wide player.

We seem to be offloading a lot of players this summer. Could Wenger be lining up changes to the wage structure by offering individuals higher wages but keeping the same/similar cap by promoting youth players also.
I don't think general purchase money is a problem (although Wenger won't overspend on a players value) it's the wages which we struggle to meet.

Could Rooney/ibrahimovic/Suarez really be on their way? I definitely think we'll be reinforcing with some powerful additions before the end of the window.

Hi eds, I'm pretty sure I saw one of you say that Ceasar is there for the taking if we want him. Is there any particular reason we haven't gone for him? Because he wouldn't cost much more then £1mil. Does Wenger have full faith in Shez then or could he be after another target?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Eds have posted before that Cesar is looking for about £20,000 a week more than what we are prepared to pay him. Should we decide to give him that extra money or he lowers his expectations we could sign him.

Agree0 Disagree0

He was wanting a 4 year contract in Italy. At 34, I can't see Wenger offering him that.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think age is the limiting factor in us offering him a 4 year contract in Italy :p

{Ed022's Note - Fiorentina pulled out of negotiations are he requested a 4 year deal at 70k a week...}

Agree0 Disagree0

It was being a sarcy person Ed, meaning that we couldn't employ someone in Italy.

Nothing to see here!

{Ed022's Note - I too am very sarcastic so fear not. Nothing to see here...}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

12 Aug 2013 16:58:43
Would anyone else here rather Kondogbia over Gustavo? Both very good, I just feel Kondogbia has the tools to become great, whereas Gustavo has reached his peak, which is very good, not great.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why not both? Kondogbia and Gustavo could parallel Viera and Gilberto.

Agree0 Disagree0

Definately rather Gustavo. Need experience to allow wilshere and Ramsey express themselves fully.

Gustavo will still give us 6 good year's, if kondogbia becomes a world beater in all likelihood well be having, Madrid, barca and city trying to buy him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not me, I feel for too long we have tried the 'could be great' . Time for proven quality.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree Kondogbia has great potential, but we've needed a CDM for so long that I would be very happy with Gustavo, he is an experienced and quality player that will come in and make an instant impact, if we get the deal over the line, I wouldn't complain.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mate, Kondogbia wasn't even the best DM at the U20s in his team. Gustavo was a technical wrecking ball in the confeds, he's ready now, he's exactly what we need, he's fairly cheap at around 17m, should've been done last week imo.

If L'pool stick to their guns and refuse to sell Suarez to another premier team it will probably be the right decision. Players like Suarez and RVP are the difference and should never be sold to a rival if the club has any sense of ambition - however unrealistic that ambition might be.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree Jay - especially when you read the comments from Suarez when he signed his new long term contract last season:

"To sign a new contract with Liverpool is unbelievable for me because I am so happy here at both the club and also in the city.

That is important for me and I am very happy with my new contract.

When you are a kid, everybody wants to play for Liverpool. I am here now and it is a dream for me, and now I am a Liverpool fan.

I am happy off the pitch because the people of Liverpool are good with me and my family. I try my best on the pitch and when you are happy off the pitch, you are happy on the pitch.

I want to say thank-you to the fans because they are our 12th player. The supporters of Liverpool are unbelievable.

Five or six years ago I watched on TV the stadium and the club, and now I play here and the supporters have helped me. That's very important for me."

So what has gone wrong? Not a fan anymore Luis? Why sign a new deal just a year ago if you had no intention to stay? None of this makes any sense at all. IMO I don't blame Liverpool as Suarez cannot be trusted but I think they are making a big mistake - it worries me greatly as a Gooner that we are bidding such large amounts for this decieving horrible man - don't let the goals the player can give cloud the real mark of this man - trust me Liverpool forcing him to stay will do us a big favour but them keeping him will damage their club further - if I was them, I would of 'bitten' Arsenal's hand off when they offered £40m + £1 (sorry for the pun) :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure that will turn out to be good business at the end of the day. If Suarez believes he had that agreement it cannot end well for Liverpool. The mood in the club will take a dive and just cannot see Suarez doing a uturn. Arsenal will not keeping up the offer and could well be the only takers. Liverpool may have to continue to pay him to sit on his backside. Liverpool are trying to take the high moral ground but personally think they are on very slippy ground. They should negotiate as best as they can on price, move him on and recruit in before the window shuts. If anyone knows how difficult the situation is it is our club.

Agree0 Disagree0

One difference is that RVP only had 1 year left on his contract which gave him a big advantage over his preferred destination.

Agree0 Disagree0

Players have the power now, look at bendtner.

he could actually terminate his contract but he would rather get paid. Where as for Arsenal we can't terminate his contract, unless it has got to do with some very serious crime.

Suarez will choose his destination. If they want to sell him to Monaco, he could decline, or refuse to play for them and the deal just falls.

Look at Di maria and Coentrao. They will barely play this year, they have been offered in the Bale deal, yet they don't want to move and the club is powerless.

The only good thing out in spain is that every player has a buyout clause, even if some clauses are unreasonable.

This should be a requisite in EPL, so that players if moved, the team gets premium price, rather than haggling.

Arsenal want Luis Suarez, buyout of 50 million and that makes it a bit more bearable.

but with the bale deal hitting insane money, it goes to show logic no longer exists.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2013 12:14:23
Ed,

Given your explanation of the Chamakh contract cancellation, why can't we do this with more players, like Bendtner? Other than him being a complete w*nker, is there anything the prohibits a certain amount of cancellations in a year? {Ed044's Note - Financial loss is the issue.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not every player would agree to 'mutually terminating' their contract

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2013 14:11:33
Looks like RM after Suarez now!
They are hell bent on doing us over!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sorry source is tv

Agree0 Disagree0

Hmmm, would that mean they have lost interest in Bale.

Not ideal.

Agree0 Disagree0

Madrid are trying to bluff the spurs now.

If Bale does not join them this year, he will not join them next year.

They will get another player and next year they will re-evaluate. If bale fits the profile then, he could fit their transfer scheme again.

However, the fact that the player, has said nothing, especially in regards to his desire to stay with spurs, or the fact that the Manager has not spoken about him, or Madrid saying anything about him either.

For me Bale will move, and I think players will be involved in this deal.

Im calling it. not ITK but ill say it.

Coentrao+ £60 million for bale.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2013 13:58:26
Ed, could you make a poll on who we think will be our top scorer from the current team? Cheers {Ed027's Note - id like to do that one when the window closes :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ledenowski (Spelling) springs to mind. 1 year left on contract and I sure Dortmund rather not sell to a league rival than let him go for free to Munich at the End of season, espcaiccly after what happend with Gotze.

Surely 25-30mill bid would be very tempting for Dortmund.

This Saurez stalemate will go on for the rest of the window now with no indication that we close to Liverpool backing down in their stance. a lot I feel depends on R.madrid and Bale if that deal fails they will come in for Saurez then we will have no chance then.

If they do get Bale I can't see even Madrid having teh funds for another 40-50Mill for Saurez on top, the question is then Can Liverpoll afford to keep such a unhappy player at the club. {Ed044's Note - Real Madrid are raising the money through the sale and exchange of players. Lewandowski won't be joining Arsenal.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks Ed. Ryan, its not getting Dortmund to accept a bid which is the problem; it would be convincing lewendowski to come. Bayern is his "dream team" and he's always wanted to play for them. With only a year until he can move, i'm sure he won't be convinced to join another team.

If we are unable to sign Suarez which seems likely what strikers are available and will actaully improve our attack?

Also will we make a move for Willian as Anzi are having a fire sale and we are in need of a left winger?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Martinez, Lewandowski (and no please don't say he's impossible to sign because he isn't), most of the rest have moved. Doumbia maybe.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lewandowski will join Munich. Unless we offer him lorry loads of cash a week. He won't be joining arsenal.

Agree0 Disagree0

Michu? I think we have left it too late to sign a superstar striker if we don't get Suarez.
Michu is technically awesome, fantastic movement and finishing.
Cheeky move for Chicarito?
I don't see too many others available that would improve us.

Hi Ed

Just wanted to know what is up with NB? is he really serious about playing football or just fooling around. Cmon, I think his he has some serious issues. c'mon get the hell out of here take a cut and play. if he plays well his wage will increase. also he has not played for what (don't remember) matches and still getting his monstrous wage, so much money without doing any work. (that is why he is still with AFC, why take a cut if he can earn without playing). He is being silly. I think he is afraid he won't be able to increase his pay if he chooses to take a cut abd play for another club, because he is so damned good. (yucks!). I think he should join the HOOTERS! CLUB. PLAY WITH HIS PADDY POWER! NB just go. and let someone else carry the pain. or atleast give me some pounds to watch your mommy hump my back. you jhakas freak. go go go go away. {Ed027's Note - he dosent want to take a cut to leave, he is a pain, clubs are interested in him but not his wages, he has a year left, Arsenal don't want to pay a chunk of his wages whilst hes out on loan, they'll rather let him rot in reserves, and its a WC year, so its NB's decision, take a cut and play elsewhere, or stay and rot

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Bruv, he knows he is not and will never be good enough to earn that much money again. He will stay until that last whistle, bruv, if I was the "world's greatest striker" l would do the same.
