Devils advocate question:

Wenger doesn't sign anyone and unfortunately we fall away in the league and don't win a trophy.

Do all the haters come back and say "we should have signed someone. We needed someone, anyone could see that etc. "

Or, do we think, let's go with what we've got at the club and sign huge players along the Draxler etc line in the summer knowing these types of players are unavailable now.

Honestly, before Ozil, none of us thought we'd be where we are, playing like we are, being in with a shout. This is the start of something big and we should be slagging Wenger offif we don't sign someone. Look at the bigger picture and the neighbours down the road as a comfort.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Greeny, that's a damn fine question.

IMO, I would be disappointed if we don't win anything, but we are competing against 2 of the biggest spending clubs in the Prem, Chelsea and City.

We have been nowhere near winning league for last 7 or 8 seasons, we could be close this year. Yes, I would love Wenger to sign somebody to replace the loss of Theo, but who?

We all know Jan transfer window is never the answer to peoples prayers, its more for panic buying and desparadoes.

If we finish top 3, I would be very happy but I expect us to make a very very serious challenge next season, don't get me wrong, I'm not writing us off this season, but I just feel it might be slightly out of our reach this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

We would all love that top quality singing, but, and a big but for me stability as to come first.
Draxler can play in any of our four attacking positions, but we need an out an out striker.
Aboubakar fits that perfect for me only young and moved in the summer, but would be a quality singing.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not so sure we will sign anyone, Wenger has voiced the fact that he doesn't agree with the transfer window (like he needed to point that out, he's not to keen on the summer one either) that was before and after Theo's injury, I'm hoping he goes for berbatov as for 2 mill it's got to be worth a go but given the players we have coming back I'm doubtful he will

Agree0 Disagree0

I think so as our squad does not have the depth to carry us in the event of injuries. let's say BFG and Kos pick injuries, what then? Giroud picks up another knock? We simply don't have the same depth as City .Currently only our midfield has enough depth to cover injuries, at the back and up front we lack depth end of story.

Agree0 Disagree0

For me it's a bit like if we do fall away we may be kicking ourselves that we should have signed someone at least in this window. I'm going to say this! The Champions League at this stage is a pipe dream for us the further we go in it the bigger the revenue we all know that winning it this season is not going to happen as much I've always been an avid student of history, but I didn't know this.

In 1272, the Cypriots invented the condom, using a goat's lower intestine.

In 1873, the British refined the idea by taking the intestine out of the goat first.

Don't thank me, I do this as a public service for the advancement of education.as we would like it to. So I would love us to win the FA Cup and the Premier League trophy. For that reason I believe that we haven't got to spend a fortune to shore up what we need to do that. We just need a good bit of cover to see the rest of the season out.

I'm of the same thinking as 1404, Wenger in stills confidence in me in everything bar the January transfer window.

I posted the other day about Bayern getting Lewandowski because they wanted to stay ahead of the game.

City have Dzeko, Aguero and Negredo and one massive goal difference.

We are in a great position, we do now have a proper squad but I too think this season will be a stretch, would love another signing to add to the confidence and goal tally but who Wenger is looking at if anyone is impossible to know.

I wouldn't slag him off if we don't win it as for me again next season, with additions, will be the one.

I'm not saying this season is impossible but we need everything going for us and everyone firing and no more bloody injuries.

Make no mistake, Theo is a big loss.

Agree0 Disagree0

Top post of 2014 Greeny mate.
Of course we all want to finish top as this is way and and above our best season for years but Chelski and city will have fewer slip ups this half of the season and our injury list is like a carrousel at the moment one fit two out.
I'd be happy to stick with Ox and Gnarby and give them their chance and worse case scenario we finish 3rd but within touching distance of 2nd but way ahead of 4th this will still be a massive improvement on recent years and a great base to build from come the summer window.
A big improvement on clinching 4th on the last day again I think

Agree0 Disagree0

FROM GOLDBOY. WOW! I don't know what happened with my post but I really must apologise. It looks like one of the jokes I was sent somehow got mixed up with the post I was trying to make. Well embarrassing. that's the IPhone for you.

1) Chelsea beat Hull away. That's a statement.

2) Man City beat Newcastle away. That's a statement.

3) Liverpool beat Stoke away. That's a statement.

4) I got a letter from bank. I'm £200 overdrawn. That's

a statement.

We have to beat Villa tomorrow. We have to make a statement.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

7 out of the top 8 have all won this weekend. Us being the only team left.

We have a good record at Villa Park against a team not playing well and reeling from being knocked out of the FA cup at home by Sheff Utd.

After the opening day of the season I want nothing less than 3 goals and a clean sheet. We owe em one!

Agree0 Disagree0

I got a final demand from British gas for £387, not sure if its a statement or not but its relief they ain't going to ask me for it again that's for sure

Agree0 Disagree0

Sounds like a statement G62 lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree Greeny, payback time and they injured our little Ox, lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

G62, did you tell British Gas to go and frack themselves?

(Did you like what I did there)

Now, you know what Mrs DG, has to put up with lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dags. When your grandchild is born you will spoil him or her and be even more skint. That's a statement.

Agree0 Disagree0

Golds, nope, that's a fact lol

Looking at Costa last night against Barca I don't think he is what Arsenal are looking for in a center forward we need someone with pace Costa too much like Giroud

Limerick Gnner

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I have to disagree there, Costa is nothing like ollie

Agree0 Disagree0

Me too, totally disagree.

Costa more like suarez, that can't be bad. would love him at Arsenal.

Agree0 Disagree0

Costa is a beast of player and is a deadly scorer

I really hope we get Draxler in the next two transfer windows. It's speculated that we will trigger his release clause of 40£. Ed, do you see us making a move for him in January or in the summer? I know this is a pretty difficult question to answer, thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - right now, no I don't. Summer, very possibly.}

12 Jan 2014 15:43:38
Buy clauses mean nothing the Eds keep telling us that so let's forget who has what clause.
With Gnarby Poldolski and Ox we will not be in a hurry for a wide player.

Few will part with a big name in this window so if we do sign anyone it will be a short term or youngish striker.

That's my take from listening to the Eds and Arsene and judging by the history of January window its self and Arsene within it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Exactly right G62

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - RTP.}

12 Jan 2014 14:06:42
I can't believe people are expecting a signing . a biggie at that, AW might get a very low cost deal, but stop asking about 'stella' players

Blimey

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Paul Merson was our 'Stella' player!

Lol exiled, and Tony Adams (smiles)

did send in a few days ago now about draxler and striker, but for some reason it never got posted. my info is from an ex-gooner who still has connections at the club and is what he has been told. and now your all hearing about draxlers when could have known days ago that it was now and not the summer, striker AW wanted rues but he not keen on moving before world cup, so other options being looked at like martinez and costa as well as eduardo coming back as extra cover. like I say shame it wasnt posted days ago but heyho they must have thought it rubbish lol cause that nevers gets posted here does it malaga.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - it was posted, I posted it myself but didn't believe it then, nor do I believe it now. The only reason it is in the media is because they read the post anyway.}

12 Jan 2014 14:08:46
Not sure why I am being brought into your post, I have said what I was told by some 1 who interviewed draxler a month ago.
Draxler is trying to push through a January move he is not happy at the moment
I suppose we will have to wait and see

Agree0 Disagree0

He is suggesting that your posts are always rubbish malaga, and that his post should have been put up, because all of your's are. I tend to agree.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - except his post was put up, he was just whining over nothing.}

Malaga, you ever think "screw these guys"

This is a banter site, we all come in good spirits, and a bunch of 13yr olds sit on their computers and sulk because your "rumor" didn't come true

Again, screw these guys

Losers, useless fans

Keep it up, and kudos on Draxler call

As for these "Malaga you're a liar" losers, tell them to kiss your first place ass

Cheers

ED001 is correct, I remember reading it a few days ago.

GEDION ZELALEM.A friend of mine whos opinion I respect very much saw this boy in a match the other day and all he could say was this kid is AWESOME!simple as that . Ok he is just 16 so was Jack when I saw him at a Carling Cup game.I say let's give Zelalem a few minutes here and there and see what happens. Attacking midfield player.he has already played a few games for Arsenal under 21s. He just might shock a few people.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He does look good, I watched the youth cup game the other day though and have to say Jack Crowley looks absolutely amazing, he has everything, the future is bright but let's start winning things now

Agree0 Disagree0

First time I saw fabregas was in the charity shield age 16 and he blew my mind how good he looked.
Only way to know is

Agree0 Disagree0

Zelalem's awareness and vision separates him from any other player at his age. Plus, he's an amazing passer. I say give him a shot in a cup game first then a PL game.

Let it be known, I played against him in Florida two years ago. Superb then, superb now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Keep your eyes on Crowley as well

Him and Zelalem will be first team players very soon

Rambo and Wilshere Jr.

Agree0 Disagree0

Their time will come, just not at the moment. They are one's for the future.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with Dags. I think in at least a couple years, we'll see Zelalem and Crowley in the first team

Just want to know everyone's thoughts on the rumour of Eduardo returning to the club?

A six month loan deal has been mooted. Personally, I don't think he returned to the player he was before the horrific leg break. I wouldn't be against the signing completely but feel there maybe better options.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think its highly unlikely we would buy a player we sold, as he had lost his edge.

In the current league he plys his trade, it bodes him well to make a living, but he won't cut it in the EPL.

I have been reading too many stories on too many players to Arsenal, so only time will tell, if we manage to buy anyone.

With the January sales yet to really get going who gets your vote for the summer window for

1 Best. Buy
2 best bargain buy
3 worst buy

For me its
1 Ozil. :-) :-)
2 Huddlestone
3 The New Spurs Squad

Believable0 Unbelievable0

12 Jan 2014 12:05:12
1. i'm struggling to choose between Ozil, Mingolet and Negredo. Think its a bit biased to say Ozil.

2. Lukaku if you count loanees. If not Flamini

3. Lamela, Fellani or Andy Carrol.

Agree0 Disagree0

Best Buy Negredo £16m good bit of business by Citeh
Best Bargain Buy Flamini
Worst Buy any spud signing and Fellani

Agree0 Disagree0

Best signing: Ozil

Best Bargain: lukaku (on loan)

Worst signings: Agree with G62 about spurs squad but also Fellaini. Who's glad we didn't sign him?

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jan 2014 13:18:26
If your looking at what the best signing has brought each team then despite agreeing that Negredo has been a great buy it's out shone buy Ozil giving our whole squad the lift and belief to be where we are.

Bargain buy has to be Flamini for nowt.

Worst is pretty much hands down Fellaini and chuffed we never got him. On the plus side for him at least he doesn't want to go home like Lamela.

Agree0 Disagree0

Best signing for impact on the club and fans: Özil (more jerseys sold than Bale)
Best signing on the pitch so far:Negredo, honorable mention Osvaldo

Best bargain signing: Flamini for free, but otherwise Di michelis (even if Atletico got him on a free, 4m£ is pocket money for City) honorable mention Huddlestone, Shelvey

Worst signing: E'eto, if not using Mata doesn't count.

Agree0 Disagree0

1) Negrado (man city)

2) Flamini

3) fellaini

Gnabry or Adnan?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Behave Chris lol,

Gnabry everytime but would happily let Adnan sit on our bench in case Serge picks up an injury.

Agree0 Disagree0

Serge everytime, think he should have played a lot more than he has this season

Agree0 Disagree0

Adnan played brilliantly against Swansea yesterday, but it's gnabry for me too. He's got everything and his build means he's so hard to disposses, plus januzaj dives. A lot.

Agree0 Disagree0

Serge all day long. Strong powerful and direct. Bags of potential! Janadive will be quality too don't get me wrong but serge has got that bit of magic. As my girlfriend said when he scored his first goal. "The headline should read, abra-gnabra!"

It's alright because she's been sectioned for bad puns.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jan 2014 12:10:14
Honestly, I think Adnan Januzaj is a better player, but he is getting more game time to prove it. With Walcotts injury we will now see more of Serge Gnabry. I think Januzaj is a better technical player. However Gnabry is a better athlete in terms of strenght and pace. Its a tough one.

I hope you keep hold of him because we want to see that kind of young talent stay in the Premiership.

Agree0 Disagree0

So let's play him and save our dosh until the summer.
We will know if he and Ox are ready or we need to spend by then
