Would love him at Arsenal.

Admittedly, a bit of a dodgy attitude, but I think he will be happy at Arsenal.

Quality player.

If we got him and won the leagueI would love it. never understand fans obsession with price I would rather pay big money and really compete for the title as opposed to buying no one and finishing at best fourth but with an extra 30/ 40 million in the bank.

Might not have had the best of time when he managed England but always came across as one of the most friendly and decent men in football. will be sadly missed

Great to see Koscielny, Le Coq and Giroud signing new deals, however don't you think its a bit worrying we can announce all these new contracts and the ones we actually need are yet to materialise?

To me looks like neither Ozil or Sanchez will sign.

I think its because they are all french and it was easier to understand them in negotiations with wenger.

Long time reader, first time poster.
I'm curious to know what you all think regarding Arsenals ability to appoint the best new manager? Given their inability to ever quickly sign the right players.
I believe that given a run of games Jack W would be the perfect player to replace Santi

{Ed002's Note - The "best" is subjective. It is a matter they are well aware of and "feelers" are out.}

Im not " confident " but I live in hope.

Most of the people we've been linked would be good choices.

Just hope we don't appoint Simeone, but I don't think he'd be a realistic choice for us anyway.

Lads i see suarez scored 100 goals for barcelona. Remember when ye offerd 40 mill. plus £1,ye should have at least thrown another fiver in the mix. if only.

Liverpool later revealed that we did trigger a clause and that price should have allowed us to atleast enter discussions with him I think. If that happened the bid wouldn't be the subject of so many jokes.

Anyway, shouldn't you Man U fans be more focused on supporting your team and changing the fact that you could hear a pin drop in your stadium - as Jose Moaninho has said?

{Ed002's Note - The situation with Arsenal was that with Suarez desperate to leave the previous summer Liverpool had agreed that if any offer over £40M was made then Suarez would be allowed to move if he wanted to. This was not a buy out or release clause but what is now becoming more popular – a termination clause. At the time, the expectation was that Real Madrid would step in (which was what Suarez then wanted) with an offer but it was far too low for Liverpool to accept. Arsenal made the offer of £40M plus £1 as the club was unsure whether it was “£40M and above” or “over £40M” – there was nothing wrong with that. At the time, as this was seemingly the only way out of Liverpool, Suarez was willing to accept this as a stepping stone to one of the major Spanish clubs, but the Liverpool board blocked it. Suarez's agents took legal advice and were set to argue that Arsenal matched the clause that allowed to leave and that they should allow the player to discuss the transfer with Arsenal as soon as is possible. They would then look to leverage this legal position to stop Liverpool blocking the transfer and were willing to use the £2M then due the player as an incentive in order to facilitate the transfer. Suarez would have moved to Arsenal given the opportunity and this is when he started his campaign against the club regarding broken promises etc.. That summer, Liverpool agreed that he would be able to leave the following summer, regardless – this was done to avoid any potential legal battle. By the following summer Barcelona were interested and that suited Suarez – better than Madrid he tells the Catalan media when they ask. If the matter had of gone to court there would be no doubt the move could have been forced. An appeal would have perhaps been considered by Liverpool but that would have potentially dragged on long enough to stop Suarez playing for anyone until it was resolved – and that could have had disastrous consequences for Liverpool.}

The 40m plus £1 offer allows media and morons like Merson to mock our great club. The facts support good business acumen from Arsenal which does not make interesting reading and supports the "tight Wenger" voices

Assuming we sell Jenkinson and Debuchy leaves, presumably cover at RB will be Gabriel or Holding? We really need to sign cover for Bellerin. A new LB can wait until the next window, although neither has impressed me this season or last season.
I found it very odd that we began the season with an injured Jenkinson coming back from a bad injury and having been relatively unsuccessful at the club and Debuchy who had gone away on loan and I seem to recall was also injured at the start of the season. We seem to have plenty of cover in the remaining positions, but only one decent full back.

Haven't we just signed a LB? Or was he a RB?

13 Jan 2017 11:34:50
Yep, LB Cohen Bramall definitely.

14 Jan 2017 11:00:35
Bramhall was playing non league football. He's been signed because he has Prem athleticism and footballing potential. He'll probably be quite a way off from representing our first team - if he ever does. Obviously hope it works out for the kid but it wouldn't solve the RB problem.

I don't see Wenger signing a RB because Chambers will return this summer and offer reasonable cover. Plus Maitland-Niles might get some more game time then and develop his competency there.
