Hi eds
Absolutely BUZZING to see Ozil has said he wants to stay. Hopefully with the signings of lacazette and Ozils extension, this is enough signal of intent for Sanchez to commit.
I still feel like we need another central midfielder and a winger.
Eds have you heard anything about goretzka. I saw we were linked with him but I've not heard anything since.
Also is there any update on the Lemar/ Mahrez situations since I last asked.
Thanks again Eds. top notch work as always!

He by said staying is his preferred option not that he is signing a new contract, my guess is things will drag on until January with Mesut much like Theo has done twice now resulting in him getting a really good result.

not sure theo was ever in his last year of deal or was he can't remember.

I could be wrong Derby but I think it happend twice with Theo, certainly the last time a couple of years back it was reported in the January he was free to talk to potential new clubs as he was out of contract that summer.
We only ever know what we read but I remember Arsene repeatedly being quoted as saying he was confident Theo would stay even though he could move for free.

Now thumb gate is over. Is anyone actually going to leave arsenal, with all the fake news we should be down to the bare thumbs ( sorry last time ) bones. But nobody has gone. Well except sanogo and he went without saying goodbye.

I would say at least 5 mate, Debuchy, Jenkinson, Gibbs, Ospina, Perez and Campbell with Giroud also stating he's not certain where he'll be.
All of those without the Sanchez situation.
The first 6 have little chance of much game time and Giroud with be thinking he needs to play regularly to keep his place for France with the World Cup on the horizon.

Steve - over the years we seem to struggle to sell our 'average' players. I think the problem (which our wage bill confirms) is that Arsenal pay fringe players over the odds. Walcott for example is apparently on 150 a week. Who's going to take that on?
Agree0

12 Jul 2017 22:49:03
I agree but whose going to take them. They are on very good money and will be hard to shift on. They have been hard to shift on, in a few cases. It has been said we are close to being over our foreign quoter as well.

13 Jul 2017 07:43:00
To be fair to all of them they are not shocking players and we are going to have to accept a suitable fee and they'll have to accept suitable wages.
Surely they all want to play football.

It's clear an overhaul of how we do things is not only needed but I think is crucially recognised and accepted by the club and quite likely even Arsene himself.
I know Arsene had once had a very socialist policy of time served with the club being rewarded which in principle is very honourable way of doing things but it just hasn't worked out as he had hoped.

I don't get all the malice towards Ozil from our fans. it's quite funny that when he shows emotion he gets labelled as a diva and a sulker, meanwhile when Sanchez whines he is labelled a winner. the mental gymnastics are unreal here
there is also the myth that Mesut is lazy while Alexis always puts in a proper shift, yet Ozil runs more on a game by game basis. Mesut "goes missing in big games" yet he has contributed more goals/ assists than anyone in those game.
Now people are trying to take away his loyalty to the club by insinuating that he had no offers, that's a laughable argument really. a section of our fans will never give him a break
Apologies for the rant, Mesut is my favourite footballer in the world so I have my own biases.

I love Ozil mate, think he's awesome although my absolute favourite is Santi Cazorla. So wish he gets fit soon.
I don't know if many know the story of his injury but he had to have an op and the theatre where they did the procedure had bacteria in it which got into Santi's bone and has been the reason it's taken so long to heal.

12 Jul 2017 20:03:51
Hi Mate it was me who said Mesut wasn't exactly inundated with offers and to my knowledge limited to what I read in here and the BBC (main page not the gossip column :-) admittedly.
As for your favourite player you have great taste mate i think Mesut is brilliant and anyone who thinks he's lazy I suggest watch 90 mins of any game you have available and just keeping your eye on Ozil through out, it's a real eye-opener to just how much work he puts in, but still doesn't change the fact niether City or anyone else seem to be beating our door down to sign him.
It's not malice it's just the easy it is as far as I know.
Perhaps lots of people want him and I'm just thumbing in the dark on this one :-)

12 Jul 2017 20:50:39
Dondo, I too love Ozil but to say " Mesut goes missing in big games yet he has contributed more goals/ assists than anyone in those game. " is way off surely?!?!
When was the last time he scored against a "big" team?
Don't get me wrong, I think he is unfairly criticised at times but he doesn't get more assists/ goals than others in big games. To be fair until the end of last season we didn't exactly do well in big games so I doubt anyone's stats are great.
I hope he stays.

Lanesra there are people on here who vote themselves up and vote others down on a systrmatic basis, I even tried on a few occasions to try and catch certain serial voters out whom to me were obviously doing it. I complained to the ed ( who will remain nameless) and I can't vote now and do you know what, its great. All I see is the posts, no thumbs. And I know who the serial abusers are. Sad really, on both our parts.

Don't like the collar on the shirts but the 3rd kit training range is good, particularly the black and grey tee shirt.
So might treat meself to one of those for watching the games in my local over here in Cyprus. I got to fly the flag with an increasing amount of Chelsea fans.

Well being in Australia I said " Kangaroo "
He said " No, Jack Wilshire! ".

I've just arrived in Sydney. Guess who I bumped into in Australias supermarket called Walternrosie Mate Mart. Bit like Waitrose.
Wenger!
He couldn't believe it when he saw me.
I was a bit embarrassed when he crept up behind me and shouted " Oi what you doing here? "
I said "Av a word Arsene mate I'm doing a bit of shopping. what's going on with these rumours then? ".
With that he winked at me whispered then tapped the end of his nose ( which was no mean feat I might add) as if he was telling me a secret and said "Wait and see. Anyhow are you coming back to the hotel to see the boys? . "
I was in a bit of a rush so I couldn't accept but I said to him to give me a call tomorrow and I would see what I was up to .
I'll keep you all updated.
