Chelsea beat Manchester United at Trafford and came from behind to pick up another 3 points at Villa Park.

Tottenham came from behind to get the 3 points against Manchester City and they again came from behind to beat stoke at the Britannia.

This right here is where we have to step up and start winning the games we need to win.

If we beat Wigan and Newcastle we get 4th.

If we drop points, we are gone, as are Wigan.

This is where the players earn their money.
Get pumped. COYG.

some think wigan will be tired tuesday night, but I think they will be buzzing and full of confidence. this could be a proper end to end game. at the end of the day the way I see it is if we end up 5th then that'll be what we deserve, no excuses. you can't single out players because most of them have made mistakes. anyway that's my opinion

Hi guys,

landing Jovetic this summer is key as Giroud for me isn't doing enough and the competition of Jovetic will surely up his game. I am led to believe Fiorentina are asking for around 22M and I'm certain we will match it or get him cheaper.

Also key for the summer a holding midfielder strong and can create chances as the absence of Diaby leaves Wilshere and Arteta who simply are not strong enough and can't defend to well.

Have you heard of any sort of interest for anyone in the holding midfield area Ed?

Thanks

Seeing Fergie say these words really highlights, for me, the difference between him and Wenger. During his post-match interview after his retirement speech today, he said the following, amongst other things:

"It's hard to look back - I've never done that, you know?"

"Once we won the first league, the door opens, and we just grew and grew and grew. "

I really hope our club has taken serious note of everything that they've seen in the last few days, last few years, and from the differences between the legacy Fergie leaves behind compared with the legacy Wenger currently offers. With that in mind, I hope they do everything in their means to give Wenger the best chance of winning the league next season so that he too can leave us on a high.

So someone's fate will be settled on Tueday night. Win and Wigan are down. Reverse decision and we are screwed.
A draw just won't happen with two teams with everything to play for.

There will be goals!

Hello Ed and fellow Gooners,
Replying to the rumour concerning Kozza to Bayern, I would not disbelieve it, because in reality we have a manager with such a ego, because he has unearthed some real gems, he thinks he can buy any sub standard player (HE HAS BROUGHT A FEW OF THEM OF LATE)and turn them into real diamonds. So even though he goes thru the standard deniaL
A-the player is happy here
B-we are not in the market of selling our best players
he thinks even though he is selling our best defender by a country mile, he come up with another gem to replace like he did with Stepanovs, Cygan, Sendoros and Squillacci. If Jack Wilshere had stayed fit this season he would also be on will he/no he eff--- ain't but really he is list.
Todays result at Stoke was massive for Spurs and has really put the pressure on us, I have feeling that not like Martin O Neill and Redknapp, AVB is going to hold his nerve get the win against Sunderland, and see us panic either Tuesday night or next Sunday. I wonder what AW, s reaction will be if we did not get the (Dont worry about what moneybags Bradford and Blackburn did to us)just get the 4th spot Champion, s League spot would he resign and let someone with new ideas who
(A)had more than plan A
(B)made us more direct and decisive when need occured
(C)got rid of the deadwood
(D)used the promising youngsters and I don't mean just in the Capitol One Cup
(E)brought in some solid players who can do the job
(F)played players in their better positions
(G)made our existing good players believe we will WIN TROPHIES
Thanks for the site Ed

If spurs can only just beat stoke with 10 men then Di Canio must be looking forward to next saturday!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

This is from a fan of the team that scraped home against the worst team in the league last week.
You worry about your own team fella, don't you go worrying about anyone else.

And how did arsenal get on at stoke?

You need to check before spouting off young man!

Mmm, funny that. I thought arsenal drew 0-0 at stoke!
By the way, spurs won today after dominating the game. {Ed027's Note - 11 a side mate 11 a side

Ed, I have seen that Di Maria and Alexis Sanchez could be leaving their clubs this summer. Is this true and do you see arsenal being interest as I feel we need a winger of there quality. cheers {Ed027's Note - It is true, both are available, I really want a winger so we probably won't be interested :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Personally would love to see sanchez on the wing instead of that wally walcott. Even though he's done reasonable for goals and assists this year his overall performances are terrible. His work ethic is a disgrace, if it ain't going his way he ain't involved.

Sanchez on the to other hand has the skill and ability to make things happen for himself and does shy away from the defensive side of the game.

A question: Is Jovetic really as good as most other sites seem to think?

I've seen him play in many highlightreels and he's scored some amazing goals and is great in link-up play. He, along with Ljajic and Borja Valero, is the reason why fiorentina have improved the second half of the season. That's what I've heard, however highlightreels don't really paint a true picture.

Is he overhyped? Can he get in to our team? If yes, where would be his most likely position (aparently he can play as a central forward, a left wing or just behind the striker)? Where would you class him?, would you place him along with gotze, Isco or Reuss for example?

Other question: a friend of mine is certain that next season Jenkinson will take over the RB role, with Bellerin as his understudy. Any thruth in that (Yes he's a Barca fan and seems to think Bellerin will be someone like Barca or Pique, who will eventually return)
PS: I've never seen him play, so I don't know how good he is, would hate to see another player leave to barca though.

Belgian Gooner 85

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Personally he's not my first choice especially if we're to pay big money for him 25+ euro or whatever it might be, that's money that could be spent on a far better more proven talent.
I'd take him at 15m in a snap because of his age, and at a push 18m. The other side of that though is he puts in a stellar season next year as he matures then it could be 35m+ and he'll get picked up by City or the likes. Either way I think he's a gamble and if Rooney (Who I believe will make a switch to chelsea) would take a hefty wage cut i'd prefer spend the money on him, not that it'll happen.

Stoke just couldn't hold on could they. Really not liking our chances against Wigan now. We were awful and lacklustre against QPR I still think that will be the story against Wigan. Wenger has certainly set up the team to try keep clean sheets but without a striker who only needs one chance to score we have been fortunate to get results against Fulham and QPR.

I hope Wigan play that 3-5-2 formation again as we might have some joy on the wings. Teams rarely outpost us through the middle anyway. I want Wenger to play players who are up for it and will give 100% til the end. Ramsey could do a job in midfield as he has recovery pace to deal with Wigan counters. Wilshere, Ramsey, Arteta, Rosicky are all usually good at closing down players quickly, that'll really work for us. Also, despite all Wigans good attacking football if our 2 centrebacks are on form I can't see them scoring.

Szezsncy
Jenkinson - Mertesacker - Koscielny - Gibbs
Ramsey - Arteta - Wilshere
Ox - Walcott - Cazorla

Spurs fan in peace here.
If you now take 4th the you thoroughly deserve it. I will tip my hat to you. What a great season it has been and for it to go to the final game is quality.
Your record since the new year has been great, but I'm glad to say, we haven't choked this season, before some of you say we have, since new year, in the league, we have won 11, drawn 6, lost 2. This is my point, in amongst all this, we found ourselves 7 points clear of you and you have managed to drag that back, which is unbelievable. After last season, when we lost our CL place to the chavs, I really can see spurs being the first team to get 70+ points and not getting top 4. It could only happen to us :).
Well good luck in your final 2 games. May the best team win and no matter what happens, I can't wait for next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Even though it is Home I rather we play a little more counter attack style as a draw for Wigan is not good enough for them, they need to come out play a higher pressure line game. Wigan playing a 3-5-2 may help us on the counter as we can get 3 on 3.

Even bigger game now on Tuesday

Need the Toon to win today and Sunderland to loose

Come on you Gooners

SY4

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We just have to do our job and remember it is still in our hands we are more than capable of beating Wigan and Newcastle. Wigan will have to go for it against us so I reckon we should play a little more on the counter use good width and Walcott in the middle as they tend to favour 3-5-2

Yep Sunderland losing today will be helpful as They may still something against Spurs in Final Day.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well, beat Wigan now and Sunderland are safe.
Lose or draw and Sunderland need to fight against spurs.
Relying on other teams is out of the window now.

No, the entire season has been ruined by your mediocre players. Now it looks like Wenger ain't going to win a 'trophy' this season!

Referring to an earlier poster advising everyone to "grow up" re Mike Dean. Sadly that person didn't have the guts to sign off and they hid behind a tired argument about the opposition as justification for the awful results we suffer whenever Dean is in charge of our games.

I've seen every home game Dean has officiated at this season and his one consistent feature has been the inconsistent way he makes decisions. Just one example - chelsea given a free kick and allowed to take it quickly with moving ball leading to a goal a few seconds later - same game JW10 tries to take a free kick quickly after putting his hand on the ball to stop it and Dean calls the ball back!

His stats running arsenal games are so farout of line that they easily offset any argument based on the level of the opposition. If his ratios were compared to other refs then we would be relegated by Feb. His stats and performances need to be properly investigated and the suspicions cannot be disregarded by any argument as simple as one based on the opposition ( the better the opposition then the more likely refereeing is to have an impact!)

I'm not saying that there is anything underhand or sinister but stats don't lie and the powers that be should be using them to compare and improve refereeing performances ad to spot weird factors - any exception report would throw up Dean's performances on our games!

If you ignored any games with our involvement I wonder what Dean's stats are for ManU, Chelsea, ManC and spurs games? If they are not similar to our then there is a proven statistical issue that should be looked into

Slight change of subject, it was good to read Redknapp's comments about refs being scared of Fergie I the paper today and how they didn't like upsetting him.

I've thought this for ages and never understood why they tolerated his antics. Refs want respect but they have to earn it and they can do that easily - when any manager taps his watch and moans about time or goes OTT about a decision then send him to the stand, when any player mouths off a la Rooney then card him (foul and abusive language is a bookable offence).

Set the example and treat all the same and then people will se you take no nonsense and they will respect you
Premier League referees are weak when faced with people who will challenge them and they need to be as strong when faced with Fergie or Rooney as they would be if it was a League 3

It will also set an example for lower down the leagues and improve the whole game at every level

I think next season couldbe very interesting as I can see things really tightening up

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'm guessing you just forgot too sign off?

Agree0 Disagree0

Simple truth is if we played better football we'd win the games. Blaming Mike Dean is the pussies way out.

Looks like the odds are stacked against an Arsenal victory against Wigan. Mike Dean is the referee! and Arsenal have only had 1 win when he's the ref

Believable0 Unbelievable0

People seriously need to grow up re: Mike Dean.

We've won 1 in the last 15 with him - true. But guess what? About 4 have been against Chelsea, about 4 have been against Man U, we've played city 3 times, and we lost/drew to QPR and Fulham in two displays that saw fans outraged at how poor we were, regardless of the referee. Those performances were a joke. And we lost the other games or drew them fair and square. Go visit transfermarkt and see for yourself.

Agree0 Disagree0

No matter who the ref is on Tuesday evening, we have had a good rest, so there should be no excuses about tiredness and fatigue, and also Wigan have been busy over the last week. If we f--k it up over the next couple of games, the players and coach have only themselves to blame.
But nevertheless, let's hope Stoke can get a result today.
