Really pleased with the result and performance today. On another day could have been 5 or 6! Read comments below stating Ozil was non existant which coincided with me watching us on Sky Match Choice! May I suggest you watch the game again - Ozil was excellent barely gave the ball away and ALWAYS keeps our attacks flowing. My bet is Giroud will score 20 plus this season and people will still slag off Ozil whatever he does! COYG

With all due respect, i don't need to watch again. If the stats you read says he was the most influencial player on the pitch, then stats are a load of bollocks. My eyes tell me what i see and he was lethargic and lost the ball on numerous occasions and even got booked losing the ball sloppily and dragging the player back who he lost one of the balls too. Him and ramsey were guilty on more than a few times of sloppy play. He definately was not one of the stand out performers and yes i did say the pass was a redeeming factor for him. The goal was a brilliant goal, but the best part of the goal was the tackle by coq. You are happy with ozil fine, but for me he is a massive plus with a whole lot of minuses. The modern game requires a lot more than a few passes, for a player to be admired, i'm afraid for me he didn't have his best game. If he did for you then that great. I love the legend but he didn't have his best game at all and his stats will probably be shite, but he never stopped trying and working, he didn't have a good game, but he put a shift in.

"Mesut Ozil has created 76 goalscoring chances in the Premier League in 2015, more than any other player."

- Let's sell him for a packet of crisps he's rubbish.

Ollys Failing's will always be highlighted and his strengths ignored.
Mesuts 42 million will always outweigh his work rate and team contribution.
Le Coq will never be appreciated because he came from now where.
Mertesacker well he slagged Mesut at man city 2 seasons ago so is a hero to many despite two of the most shameful moments ever seen in an Arsenal shirt.
Poldolski did all his work on twotter slagging spurs and none on the pitch but again was well thought of.
Image over substance is everything to some people I guess.

It cannot be helped even in a great performance, team performance we have moaners picking and talking abt the worst and how poor the other team was, and still slag the manager who has put this team together, instead of giving credit where its due.

13 Sep 2015 00:26:42
Glad we got our swagger back. It took us till January last year to play like that. When we in form we tend to go on a really long run. If we can get Giroud to start banging them in and with Sanchez yet to hit form i think we can push City all the way!

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Sep 2015 22:42:07
Steve R - if the second worst player had the following stats in the first half :
89% pass accuracy, 4 chances created and 1 assist

Then things must be good or you just like moaning..... :)

Great pass from Ozil for the goal

He obviously faded then. Stats stats what are stats. Do the stats tell you what trouble he may or may not have caused with the misplaced passes. i'm going on what i saw.

Kos-Gab is defintely the way forward.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Sep 2015 21:40:05
Agree, the two have looked good as a pairing.

I would still be looking for a long term centreback partner for Gab; as Kos is 30. Maybe Kos will be great for another 5 seasons, but maybe not and given that we want to play a high line, pace going may be more of an issue for Kos than at other teams.

(Maybe that will be chambers, but I am still on the fence with the young lad).

Anyways, keep up the good banter Bristow and Dags.

Good win, although, I would like us to be more clinical.

12 Sep 2015 21:54:15
Agreed but knowing wenger merts will play midweek, hoping for some changes if wenger really wants to presist with selecting ramsey, i would like him middle with coq, ox on the right, give santi a rest? Who was amazing today

We haven't had the most 'flowing' start to the season, but 2nd in table.

Not too shabby.

{Ed025's Note - you wont be there for long if you play like that every week though chis..

12 Sep 2015 20:13:27
Next week will tell us a lot about ourselves Dags, win at Chelsea :-) and top 2 is a very realistic target as it would pave the way for us to really kick on ( happy happy happy site), draw and hey ho still an excellent result but lose to a struggling Chelsea and it wouldn't exactly bode well for our chances of challenging at all.

2nd a time of posting Stephen lol.

Agree G62, but we all know Chelsea will be up for it.
Happy with a point mate, tbh.

I think united could have a good shout

{Ed025's Note - i dont know why stephen?...they are a poor side who just beat another even poorer side, if arsenal fans had to watch dross like that every week even steve would moan..

12 Sep 2015 22:31:13
Not sure what you are alluding too, but i don't think we have looked like a team that can finish 2nd or 3rd yet. We are bumbling around getting results, but we are definately missing a few elements. i'm not convinced at all.

Agree0 Disagree1

13 Sep 2015 00:20:14
Steve so your convinced with other teams ending higher than us? OK. I am not sure how todays performance wasnt convincing. And make sure of the word i use performance.

13 Sep 2015 02:21:44
Mystifier please read the post as I've written it and not put your own interpretation on it. Beating stoke at home 2-0 when it was our usual wastefullness that kept the scoreline so low in a game that was a cakewalk because stoke were so poor and the fact that we are wastefull does not suggest to me that we are that much better than anyone else that we are going to be a convincing second. When I see we are more clinical and we have passed a few more tests, like winning more than one of our first three home games and betting a couple of our rivals, I may change my mind. Until then i'm not convinced. Sorry I don't do knee jerk, sorry.

13 Sep 2015 09:21:39
Ok let me put it another way who elsew team performances have been as convincing as ours to end up 2nd? Mind you city struggled today and have had a start against poor or avg teams, until palace. And let me remind you we put in a hell of performance at palace as well. So tell me which other team other than city is outperforming us or in your words convincing you.

{Ed025's Note - for me there is none mate..

Excllent game played just can't find the back of the net. But i m sure the goals will come. Both our strikers got the goals, albeit after some misses.

Always a good sign when we create chances.

Worry when we don't.

That said, we should have tucked more than 2 away, but we hit woodwork a few times and Butland had a worldie.

Clean sheet another plus.

Good win, lacking in quality/ability in front of goal, stoke were poor, i think i could have played in goal today. Got to say wenger is winding me up by keep on starting ramsey right and leaving ox on bench. Predictable uninspiring tactics that just smack of arrogance, wenger must be the only person in the whole planet who would do that. Got to say the best player on the pitch by a mile was coq, the worst was won by ramsey just from ozil, who just promoted himself with pass for the first goal, apart from that ,he was non existent. Easy away win next week at an out of form chelski.

I felt like I was watching a different team to the one we saw before the international break.

And then Giroud goes and does that.

A blindfolded hybrid of Emile Heskey, Francis Jeffers, and Nicklas Bendtner would have buried that chance.

Jeez, even Malaga would have gotten that one right.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

12 Sep 2015 17:02:28
Giroud scored one, missed one and should have had a penalty at the end. Walcott could have scored ten, why don't you mention his finishing?

Kick a man when he's down or what, yes Olly misses some a lot of good chances and is not looking close to a premier league winning finisher but he gives us everything he has in every game and deserves a bit more support than this.
Trust me he'd love to be prolific and get plaudits instead of punishment each week he's not deliberately missing them to get stick for both club and country.
We need a natural goal scorer but last time I checked Olly wasn't in charge of transfers.

12 Sep 2015 18:34:37
Look guys joking aside we won comfortably. We are doing ok. Let's beat Chelsea and see what comes from that.

12 Sep 2015 18:50:36
Agree G62,

We have to keep supporting Olly.

As long as he has an almost injury free season, bar missing a few games, he will score us goals.

LVG may or may not be a dictator but he was 100% just what utd needed after David Moyes.
He's quickly and very efficiently got rid of anyone and everyone who wasn't 100% committed to life without Fergie and might have an agenda that wasn't in the best interest of the club.
Who ever follows LVG and brings back the trophies to utd will owe him and the board that's totally backed him in everything he's done a awful lot.
Moyes may well have been the right man but unfortunately for him the timing of his appiontment was all wrong
