Defeat tomorrow is unthinkable as we may see our tittle challenge and self belief could take a downward spiral we find hard to get out of.
A draw would be better but another game without a win on the trot

A win would prove to our players again we are the real deal and we have had a slight blip.
THE STAKES ARE HIGH FOR US

We are the same side pre Everton and tomorrow we have to prove it to ourselves if no one else

May sound like a silly question but I have very little memory for games once they are more than a couple of months away. but Has Thomas Vermaelen played in the champions league yet this season?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hey mate,

I do not believe so, though I could be wrong. Why? Do you think he is on the move in January? I would be gutted if he left honestly.

Peace,

Only time was a last minute sub in the away win against Dortmund

Sat in the pub this afternoon with mate who for his stupidity is an Everton fan. We got talking about the Arsenal defence and something stuck me as we chatted about it even now with all the evidence to the opposite I would still feel better if it was TV5 and Kos as our centre pairing. I have no logical reason other than on his day TV5 is in my opinion our best CB. I love Kos, 100% without a doubt should be in the team every game. Flamini as captain. However Per still gives me worries and I don't know why, like I say this season he has been a rock. So it got me thinking who else I would rather play and here I thought a fit Podolski over Giroud every time. Again no logic or reason just my own head and heart telling me I would prefer that option. Time to switch from cider back to lager possibly?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Neither of them is at there best playing on the right cb, that's why they don't play well together!

Agree0 Disagree0

I couldn't agree less. Merte is our best CB by a mile. The problems with pairing Vermaelen and Koscileny is that neither player can play on the right side of the CB pairing, they are both barely 6ft tall & they are too similar. I would, however, alternate Kos & Vermaelen. As for Podolski over Giroud, nope.As the lone striker, Podolski simply hasn't been a success, whereas Giroud has. Giroud is looking a little fatigued, so hopefully Wenger will sign someone in the upcoming window to ease the burden. With virtually all injured players back, rotation is a must to keep the players fit & rested. After todays match we don't play Chelsea, until Monday week, giving the team a well deserved rest.

Agree0 Disagree0

Love it or hate it of course Vermaellen is a good player for us but it seems to me that we have got this far without him! Now don't get me wrong here I believe this is his 4th or fifth season with us and he has spent nearly 2 and a half of them injured What does that tell anyone . I know what it tells me. let's all be real and honest here. We are all Arsenal supporters but we are fortunate on this site to have people that are honest with their opinions and not praising Arsenal because its expected but saying it as we see it. I think we would be better off finding a replacement for TV. There I've said it,

I think the back five (if fit) pick themselves. We definitely need to start Rambo and Flamini in the middle. I would play Walcott on the right, Ozil through the middle and Cazorla on the left. Olly Giroud leading the line.

Rosicky, Wilshere as impact subs. We look tired but after this game we have NINE DAYS rest before Chelsea and the manic Christmas period so it's swings and roundabouts.

One big effort boys then you can have a breather!

Boys and Girls,
I have a really nasty feeling about tomorrow.
We have looked a little jaded and weary in last 2 games, especially last 20 minutes. We drew with Everton and lost 2 nil to Napoli, but luckily that didn't matter.
Man City are totally different. At the Etihad they are awesome and keep going for 90 minutes, they are one of the fittest teams around. If they are 4-0 up at home to anybody they want to make it 5, than 6, they are ruthless and keep going until the last minute.
Guys, I hate to be so negative but I have a feeling they are going to turn us over 3-0 or 3-1. But like I said, its just a gut feeling I have when I compare the 2 sides.
Feel free to tell Dagenham Gunner he is wrong lol.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I too am nervous tomorrow. My gut says the fixture times haven't been kind this time round (let's not forget we've bad it easier on other occasions)

I reckon we might lose 3-1 but will pray for a stunning away win against the odds!

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey man,

I can understand why you might feel that way, and of course it's all possible, but I think wenger will have the boys up for this game just as much as they will be.

I'm really hoping you're wrong mate haha. I'm going for a 1-1 result with both teams defending well; but what do I know? lol

Peace,

Mr Dagenham,

How many times is this since the summer that you've had a bad feeling.

Go and stand in the corner, say 20 Hail Marys and beat yourself with a small but fairly hefty object.

Only joking of course. We are going to be ok, we are capable of playing every bit as well as them. It's 90 minutes of our boys getting at them. I have faith and we now have subs that can make a difference.

Looking forward to a great game and a great result.

And another thing worth remembering, City's big wins have come against the smaller teams such as Wigan, Norwich, spurs and Man Utd. ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Jenny I'm with you on the one we should be well OK .
The quality is not in any doubt but we need to be mentally strong and show the world who we really are and what we're really about

Agree0 Disagree0

Jenny I did it and it felt kinda nice lol.
I have a much better feeling about tomorrows game now lol.
Thank you miss Taylor

Agree0 Disagree0

After playing two matches in quick succession, I would be looking at the team carefully for signs of fatigue. We could make three changes in defence: Sagna, Mertesacker, Vermaelen & Monreal.

In midfield we can bring in Ramsey, Walcott & Wilshere: Flamini, Arteta - Walcott Ramsey & Wilshere, with Giroud up front. Cazorla & Ozil could be used as impact subs.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dagenham my mate. Don't be nervous please. The players are not nervous. Just think of this . Even if they lose they will pick up on average 100 grand a piece this week jump in their Ferraris and go home to their multi million pound pads. Now I hope I've made you feel better . (smiles) LOL

Agree0 Disagree0

Goldboy, mate I feel even blooming worse because of your post lol

Reports that Sanogo is back in training. Who expects him to get games now we're out of the capital one cup?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Jack, I can't see anything wrong with throwing him on if we are in a fairly comfortable position.
Personally, I think he is one for next season due to his injuries this season and that he is coming back from injury at the same time as Podolski.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed, but I personally think it may be beneficiary for him to be loaned out to a nearby London club in January. Just so that he gets a chance to adjust to the English game and gets some competitive matches under his belt. Also I would hate for his return from injury to prevent Wenger from making a move (either to loan or buy) another striker in January.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good point Jack

I hope Sagna starts at RB on Saturday and Walcott starts or gets subbed on. I think we could use an injection of pace and width in our game. Zabaleta won't be able to handle his speed. Does any know if Sagna would be able to play on Saturday?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hey mate,

I think Wenger said at his press conference that Sagna would have a test today to see, he is still unsure.

Fingers crossed though, because if Jenko starts that might affect Walcott's involvement. He might want to give him more defensive help down the flanks, which walcott doesn't really offer.

Cheers,
Trinidad-Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Yep, he has passed medical but whether wenger starts him is another thing mate

Agree0 Disagree0

I hate to pick holes but I will. Walcott plays on the right meaning he'll be up against clichy who's quick or Kolarov who's no slouch. Cazorla plays from the left and will be up against Zabaleta.

Edd how come were a team that's meant to pride itself on having a worldclass youth system there don't seem to be many coming through over the years?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I have little or no knowledge of most of the kiddie teams.}

13 Dec 2013 09:34:47
Flamini or Artetta, that's for sure.

Arron in every big game plus as many others as possible.

Our defence is excellent and getting better and we must trust it in every game.

We should never be negative in our approach to games, sometimes patent and hit on the break but never set our team up to get a draw.

Lessons we have to learn from this season so far in my veiw

Any more?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree Ramsey should always start, but in his best position not out wide I think he would be better of the bench than out wide but that should never be an option unless he is injured (ATM) playing players in the best position is the only way! and playing to your strengths! same goes for jack, he should not be played out wide he can play in Ramsey's position or as a number 10 they are his options and if they are not available to him from time to time like all players then they start from the bench! squad rotation is good as long as players get rotated in natural positions!

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree G62, I wouldn't play Flamflam and Arteta together as I think it holds back our natural flow going forward.
Also, agree about Ramsey but would be foolish to play him in every game as he will burn out.

Ed02 I have a question for u? which positions arsenal are looking to strengthen in the january transfer window?thanx

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - A forward, a wide player and a centre back. But it does not mean they will get them all in January.}

13 Dec 2013 07:52:19
Arsenal to sign Julian Draxler in 2014 summer.

Do you think so eds?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No idea - too far away.}

Anyone know what the prognosis on Sagna is? Any chance he'll be back for Saturday? We're going to need our best defence out.
