Impressed so far if all the deals go through!
Lichtsteiner
Sokratis
Torreira
Leno

Personally I would like to see the addition of Adli and Martins as well, that would really round off a brilliant window for Arsenal. However, some bodies would need to be sold so to me that makes perfect way for Chambers, Ospina and what looks to be Wilshere. That said, until it's signed we've only signed Lichtsteiner so I'll be less hasty šŸ˜‚.

Oh and I forgot Caglar Soyuncu, I wouldnā€™t mind us signing him either šŸ˜‚.

Just wondering where Martins is going to fit in alongside Mesut Danny Ramsey Miki Pea Lacasette, surely we need to make room other than letting a keeper Defender and midfielder.
Whaf are we going to do with all these attacking players if we just collect collect collect them without letting other attacking players go?
Are we going to play keeper and 2 1 7 formation with a bench full of defenders who don't make the starting 2 :-)

13 Jun 2018 20:57:36
Well we can sell welbeck for a start. Martins and Iwobi and back up. Auba and Laca as strikers. Mkhi and Ozil can both play no.10 and Mkhi can also play on the right. Perez can also be sold so we donā€™t really have a problem to be fair. Martins is fast, tricky, skilful and would be a million times better than Danny.

I think we are witnessing some blood letting. There will be big changes in and out and its most definitely needed. The core of our team is there but the obvious weaknesses need serious work and cutting.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Jun 2018 21:10:32
Gunner i also think players like ozil and others probably are dispensable, as far as the new managers pressing style is concerned. He may or may not want a different type of player to a few, like xhaka who are not that type of player. The players that we keep or get will have to buy into and be able to play his type of game.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jun 2018 21:37:22
That's the thing Glen you've got to find room for all these attacking players and if Emery doesn't decide to play 4 attackers and plays 4 3 3 what 3 you going to use? Well I say 3 it's 2 because Pea plays that's not in question, so which 2 of Mesut Laca Miki Martins Iwobi gets into our best 11?
The europa league plus domestic cup games only won't be enough to keep any of them happy and settled sides do better than those who chop and change, champions very often use least players per season.
I think we will be a much harder working team from now on and games won't be shared round like sweeties, if you want to be successful you play your best team in every game because that's give you the best chance of getting the maximum number of points your capable of getting.
Steve I like Mesut a lot and would be sad to see him leave but if he has to go then he has to go but who would pay his wages that we pay him? Plus a transfer fee mate? Ramsey is much easier to cash in on if you want room and cash in return.

Agree0 Disagree3

13 Jun 2018 21:43:17
Sureley, we can palm him off to utd, they like paying big wages to under achievers. Lol.

Agree0 Disagree1

13 Jun 2018 21:46:53
Plus seriously, IF ozil is surplus to our requirements, there are some teams stupid enough to pay big money and wages to " world class players " isn't that what he is, at what he does? . Emery may be able to accommodate him but not too many like him can be. We just wait in anticipation.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jun 2018 21:58:54
Hopefully we will see the real Mesut Ozil with Emery in charge, he was a world super star when he arrived mate.
Personally I'm not precious about any of our players just the team and whatever Emery needs to do to make us competitive again is ok in my book.

13 Jun 2018 22:13:31
Agree Gunner. We were not perfect before he came, so anything he does is fine by me to see if he can improve and rid the comfy culture.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jun 2018 22:24:12
I think ( hope ) the cosy club disbanded when Arsene and Mertesacker gave their farewell speeches mate, I'm pretty sure all the players accept those days are gone now and whether it's at Arsenal or anywhere else they will have to up their work rate and effort to continue to make a living in football.

Assuming all 3 deals complete, it will have been a good start to the transfer window for us. If the reported Ā£70m is the budget then we will have approximately Ā£15m remaining to spend, plus sales. I would like to us sign Nzonzi to play alongside Torreira and Soyuncu to form a new CB partnership with Sokratis. Martins would be the last signing in this window as 7 signings will be tricky to bed in.
I would sell/ release: Ospina, Chambers, Perez and Akpom,
If we cannot extend the deals of Ramsey and/ or Welbeck, then they must be sold and possibly replacements brought in. I would also love to keep Wilshere at the club.

Apologies Ed I thought it was a suitable question for the arsenal page seeing as it was about a player arsenal have an interest in. Was looking forward to the answer šŸ˜” all the best.

Loving the decisiveness. Great to see us getting business done. All we need to do is bring back Eboue and the rest of our summer should be sorted.

Apparently, wilshires departure is complecated by a "loyalty payment". Just let the lad go and tell him he doesn't have to pay us a penny.

We still need to sign a keeper, possibly another CB, another DM and a wide player.
Who should be sold or moved on to fund the purchases and create space in the squad?
My own choices would be:
Chambers - Reports that Fulham want him and if we could achieve close to te Ā£16m we paid it would be ideal.
Ospina
Mustafi - If the signing of Sokratis is confirmed and we sign Soyuncu or another CB.
Campbell - I believe he has left
Akpom
Perez - Reports that a couple of PL teams are interested.

Bellerin - He needs to learn to tackle and needs work on his defensive positional sense. Perhaps, if we can get Ā£35m+ then move him on and sign a replacement, such as Klostermann.

If we cannot extend the deals of Ramsey and Welbeck, who only have a year to go, then clearly we have to sell.

At 35 million who will come for Belerin? Not Fulham or Wolves but Barcelona or Juve so the question is why is Belerin good enough for Europe's finest but not us?
I keep seeing Belerin quoted as being worth 35 to 50 million by posters but at the same time pretty useless.
I'm struggling to do the Maths here :-)
Surely he is either a good player to justify such a transfer fee or he really is useless and we'd be lucky to get anything for him.
I'm struggling to get past fantasty to make sense of this equation.

Agree4 Disagree2

13 Jun 2018 07:32:12
I agree with all of the above except Bellerin. I am still a fan of him and can only see him improving under Emery and the guidance of Lichtsteiner. I personally think he will have a much better season.

Lichtsteiner and Sokratis are done with Sokratis to be announced on or after July 1st.

We are still in talks for Caglar Soyuncu so that would be another good CB signing providing more depth.

An agreement is close for Lucas Torreira so if that can be completed then that would be a quality defensive midfield signing. It would allow Ramsey, Xhaka, Wilshere and Maitland-Niles to run from deep and control the build up play.

That leaves 2 priorities - GK and a winger. I think a backup GK will be signed to Cech and a winger will be looked at in January. I would like to see a replacement to Cech with him as backup but he's got No.1 now so we will have to see.

German Newspaper "Sportbild" says that Arsenal will get Bernd Leno.

I would suggest moving Ospina on and keeping Cech for the final year of his contract.
I like Butland and we have to be careful with the amount of overseas players in the squad, so he fits the bill. Unfortunately, homegrown players carry a premium as there are so few decent ones and I can't see Butland being sold cheaply.
I wonder if we will stick with Cech and Ospina until the end of their deals next season. I have a feeling that under the new regime the defensive side of the game will improve considerably and the keepers will benefit as a result.

I'm from Germany and have watched a lot of games from Leno. In my opinion he is the best option Arsenal can really get. He can be as good as Ter Stegen.

Lichtsteiner- signed on a free
Sokratis - signing to be confirmed on 1st July
Torreira - strong reports that this deal is agreed

Thoughts on these 3 deals?

Poor old Arsene was always telling us there were no players who could improve us but from what I've seen of Dick and Sven there was and is loads of players who can improve us and without spending a fortune either.
That's my immediate thoughts.

Agree1 Disagree2

13 Jun 2018 08:04:59
Lichsteiner - Bit of an odd one at 34, however has great experience and a winning mentality, and can give Bellerin a breather during the season.

Sokratis - I like that he is an old school, no nonsense defender. Something we probably need. I really like our youngsters coming through in that area, and Sokratis signing doesn't seem like it will hurt their development, which is great. Also, he is not Mustafi! Already makes me like him. Would also love for Soyuncu to sign and develop with the youngsters.

Torreira - Looks like a blinder! Being honest i'd never heard of him until a week ago, but I like what I see. He looks like a menace and in the mold of Kante.

Above all, all 3 mentioned are part of a defensive overhaul, something we have needed for an embarrassingly long time. I am completely on board to continue down this path and see where it goes.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jun 2018 08:27:32
Lefty77 - I agree fully on the defensive side. I couldn't understand our defensive tactics and personnel.

Good point 62 and I still love Wenger but you are right. Also our CD we signed are on loan somewhere so never really improved us.
I wouldnā€™t include the old guy in the summary as we would have flagged Wenger off for that signing but our approach has been better - going after what we need and having experts targeting those positions
It didnā€™t take a genius to do that but weā€™ve struggled in the past so credit to the guys

I still want a winger -letā€™s see how they go but the new team are being very effective.

Me too SY mate, Arsene is a top top bloke in my book both for all he did for Arsenal and as a person.
I'm just so excited about what Dick and Sven are doing and the positions we are strengthening in, its what I've wanted us to do for years so it's difficult not to get excited right now.
I realise there is no guarantee the new players will work out as we hope and things might not go as we all hope they will in the league next season but for the first time in a very long time we are accepting our weaknesses and adressing the most of obvious ones first, we are no longer in denial and living in Bucks fizz land of make believe, we are back into the real world and we are at last trying to be the best we can be again, for me that's plenty good enough to be going on with.
75 points plus next season, you heard it here first, and second and a hundred times since and will probably hear it another thousand times between now and the season kicking off too :-) I'm just a very excited and looking forward to next season more than any season for years:-) :-) :-)
Did I mention how excited I was:-)

RG me too dude. Reading stories that Wenger wouldn't allow tackles in training and apparently limited Bould's input on the defensive side, it just baffles me. i'm just so happy to see defensive recruits coming in. If we can be more solid, actually track runners and get some more communication in the back line, I think we will fly. Our attack is great, now bring on the rear guard.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jun 2018 18:32:13
Thatā€™s what footballs about 62 - excitement and adrenaline. Standing up when you think we are about to score and then ā€œbamā€ we score! Then the tenseness of holding onto a two nil lead - believing we actually can. That and actually looking forward to Super Sunday as we have a chance home or away.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jun 2018 19:51:18
Seriously very happy with all the news with regards to our signing's . Was thinking that if Wenger would have continued as our manager next season, what position he would have tried to fill, an Attacking Midfielder or a Striker or some unknown French lad ( Remember Yaya Saynogoal) .
