Diaby gets paid in the region of £65k per week and no arsenal fan can even remember what he looks like, even half the squad have never played a game with him!

I wouldn't exactly say Diarby has had the best of footballing luck at all but at least financially he's secure so things could have been worse.
I think he'd swap bank accounts and ages with Le Coq in a flash for a second chance to have the career he dreamed of

Is it definitive that Schneiderlin is better than Coquelin or is it possible we already have the right man for the job?

With regards to the deterioration of the Premier League. We have been systematically weakening the quality within it for as long as I can remember. When the great money making minds of the FA decided it would be good for the game to tear up the top 3 up bottom 3 down rule. We have been allowing teams that finish 5th and 6th in the Championship to grace the PL which subsequently weakens the overall quality. If you are not good enough to finish in the top 3 after 42 or 44 matches then you are not good enough to be promoted and throwing a boat load of money at that club makes little to no difference. I appreciate that it has given some clubs and their fans the joy of a Wembley final and playing BIG clubs in the PL but at what cost? Playing at Wembley has been demeaned and the stadium has lost it's aura (FA cup semi-finals to blame for that as well). Arsenal systematically weakened our team year on year, selling our prized assets and replacing them with cheaper alternatives. We did it to pay for a stadium so we could increase revenue and compete in the long term. As difficult as it was to swallow at last we are seeing the benefits. There is however no good sustainable reason for the play-offs. They have consistently robbed the PL of the quality to keep the league performing at its highest level.

I see where your coming from Davros and I don't disagree but the play offs like the champions league not being exclusive to champions has kept the season going but until the last game or two, if we went back interest would diminish because all in top 10 bar city and chavs would have nothing to play for with 10 or more games to go.
The play offs/non champions are unfair to a large degree but on the whole have been a big positive.
As for the quality of players coming up quite often the play off winning team finishes above the automatic promotion winners the following season.

I guess it's a balancing act between lack of quality and increased entertainment

Which two three positions should we strengthen in order to advance from fighting for third and fourth to becoming real title contenders next season?

Goalkeeper, Defensive midfielder(Coquelin alone can't do it all season) & a Center forward.

My choices would be Cech, Schneiderlien & Benzema

I like that Nam, but then, who would you sell off? Sczezney or Martinez?

In order
Keeper let Szczesney go and keep Ospina as No.2
CB to cover Gabcielny along side chambers.
LB who is stronger defensively than in attack

Sell Szczesny, buy Cech.
Sell Mertesacker, buy Varane.
I know we've bought Bielik, but he is (sigh...) "one for the future" so
Sell/Release Flamini and buy Kondogbia (the Kondogbia is not just due to his performance against us, although it was brilliant-check this site out up to 2 years ago, he was being touted then).

While we are at it:
Sell/Release:
* Monreal: he's been much better recently but is not Premier/Champions League winning standard and that's what we have to aspire to. Replace with Christian Fuchs from Schalke
* Arteta
* Diaby
* Wilshere - I'm sure I'll be scoffed at by many but he is too injury prone, too inconsistent and if he wasn't English I'm sure more would be willing to see him go. I want to love Jack, but fear he's peaked and that isn't enough.

To replace those 3 (2 if you discount the fact that Diaby has rarely if ever been available),
* Christian Tello on loan at Porto
* Ruben Neves from Porto

* Campbell
* Podolski
* Sanogo
* Myaichi
* Jenkinson
all currently out on loan, all can go too.

If Theo wants to stall on his new contract he can go too, not that I especially want him to.
Asanother purchase I'd go for Berahino up front, leaving us with striking options of Giroud, Wellbeck, Berahino, Akprom and Alexis. Hardly short of firepower.

I think the 3 players/positions that much more often than others don't are found wanting are
Szczesney too erratic
The big German to slow in both mind and body.
Gibbs going foward excellent but defensively no where close to the required standard to win a title.
Other positions may need strengthening but these are our biggest weakness

Szczesny must go, Martines can stay
