City is probably the best draw we could ask for and play Spurs in the final! šŸ˜‰.

Utd or Chelsea and our chances would have been extremely remote as both would be well too organised commited disaplined and tactically cute for us unless we caught them on a bad day, Spurs probably represented our best chance of making the final simply because derby matches throw form out the window, City are capable of being absolutely brilliant but with erratic spells so we have a chance if we can somehow get all the players to be up for it at the same time.

I ran the Marathon yesterday.

The wife asked how I got on?

I said, "I ran the race of my life, I was absolutely brilliant, I passed everybody and did it in my personal best time".

"Did you win? ", she asked.

"Nah, I came 6th".

Whilst I understand people saying we should get behind the team and manager at this important stage of the season, the problem I have with that is, Wenger and the board would then think all is reasonably well. That would men Wenger would stay, the board would leave things to carry on as usual and we will be in the same position again next season. Incidentally I am convinced that the only way Wenger will go is for him to be shoe horned out of the club. No one else is going to pay him what he gets at The Arsenal and give him as much power. He is far to arrogant to admit things have to change, so they will go on and on and on. I love our club and don't expect to win trophies every season but I do expect us to have pride and fight for the shirt. I am sick of seeing players who seem to worry about their hair style and colour more than their performance on the pitch. It is the manager's job to motivate them and this is not happening. I am sorry to say that I can't stand to look at Wengers face anymore, as I no longer believe a word he says.

As fans it is our duty to get behind the team, irrelevant of our opinion of the manager. It could mean the difference between finishing in or out of the top four and the financial implications involved. Many fans are too young to remember the club before Wenger arrived. Since his arrival we secured our own state of the art training facilities, a new 60,000 capacity stadium and won many trophies. Some of us are old enough to remember Arsenal finishing 17th in the old First Division, in front of crowds as low as in the early 20,000. At times I criticise Wenger, bit he has been an amazing manager and will be extremely difficult to replace. When I look at Wenger's face, I see 3 Premiership titles, 6 FA Cups, 6 Community shields, a Champions League Final, continual Champions League football, a new stadium and training ground. So please show more respect to an outstanding manager.

RG,
I totally understand where you are coming from, indeed I echo everything you said.

However, wanting a change of manager, purely on the basis of wanting to compete, is not showing disrespect for Arsenal, but showing a love for the club and a desire to win things.

Out of curiosity, how long are you happy for us to just get top 4 and pick up the FA Cup every 4 or 5 years?

Are we not a big team anymore?
We have quality players, a quality manager, pay top wages and ask the fans to pay the highest season ticket prices in world football.

But, we have not won our domestic league for 13 seasons. Indeed, I can't recall us even challenging for the league in that same period.
I don't class last season as a true challenge, as Leicester won the league by about 10 points with 3 games to go. So, our challenge last season was merely to finish in front of the other also-rans.

So, when, in your opinion, is "enough is enough"? .

13 Mar 2017 15:16:59
Hi Dags. I understand your points of view, but changing manager guarantees nothing and you only have to look at Wenger's record to see how consistent we have been under him, including winning 2 trophies over the last 3 seasons. You just have to compare us with the Toot, who many years ago were a similar sized club to Arsenal and have fallen behind. Perhaps the fans are bored with having the same manager for over 20 years? Don't forget the PL is arguably the most competitive league on the planet. Man C, Chelsea and Man U have virtually unlimited funds. In any event we must support the team and manager until the end of the season.

Rg I can remember what we were like before wenger, I was there and we were fine we had a lot of ups and a lot of downs, we had tremendous success and we were regular cup and league winners. We were as good as most and better than many, we had top players and european success. don't try and compare us to then because of money the whole of football has changed, bigger wages, bigger stadium, better pitches, better training facilities, for everyone.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Mar 2017 16:12:34
Agree with the above. But I do feel inside the stadium we should be getting behind the team more and protesting any opinions after. There's far too much negativity for my liking.

13 Mar 2017 16:40:32
Steve r, yes, during the Graham years, but before that we seldom won the league - From 1953 until 1971 we didn't win it and then only once in the 70's. In the 80's once as well. Don't forget under Wenger we had to finance the new stadium, a huge undertaking. The competition when Wenger arrived was mainly from Man U, later on Chelsea were bought by Billonaire Abramovic and Man City were also acquired by a billionaire. If you also take into account billionaire owners of Liverpool and the Toot, the whole scene has changed and we are one of the few top clubs, possibly the only one, that has run profitably for decades. This is thanks to Wenger, who believes a club should be profitable. I too get frustrated with Wenger, but there is no magic manager available. Yes, I would like Conte, Mourinho, Ancelotti or Guardiola, but none of them is available. Pochetinno is being touted as the next big manager, bit he has won nothing in 8 years as a manager. We will realise just how good Wenger is when is gone.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - You seem to have forgotten that Arsenal has two Billionaire owners.}

Leicester changed manager and won the League.

Man Utd changed manager and just won a cup.

Chelsea changed manager and are stomping the league.

Everton changed manager and are way ahead of where they were last season.

The list is endless.

A change of manager, as you rightly say, guarantees nothing.
But, as much as I love and respect Wenger, and will continue to support him in his Arsenal tenure, I believe it's time for a change.

Rg, you are trying to make out we we're in the wilderness and we're a non entity before wenger. Not so pal, it was different yes but it was great and bad, just as it is now but different for all sorts of reasons. Football was different years ago, you had local players and a lot of part time teams, nothing compares to today either.

Few would argue that Arsene is by far the most powerful manager in football and holds the totally unique position of being able to decide solely how long he remains he in Control of Arsenal football club for.
So there for it can be argued that it's every Arsenal fans duty to try and wrestle total control of the club from one man who decides the future of everyone connected to Arsenal without being held accountable to anyone.
Its increasingly becoming a battle for Arsenal fans to win back their club from Arsene football club.
If your a Arsene football club fan then you've no reason to demonstrate and every reason to get 100% behind Arsene and the team he has built motivates and all they continue to deliver season in season out, why wouldn't you? Because fans of Arsene FC have what they want.
But on the other hand if you are and have been a fan of Arsenal football club long before Arsene Wenger took over then surely you have the right to want your club to be all can possibly be and feel that it's wrong for one man to have total control with absolutely no accountability for what he delivers season after season.
No one has a monopoly of being right and the less people who have any input the less likely you are to get the right solution to your problems.

Fergie left united as champions and it was always going to take some doing for any manager to take over from such a consistently successful manager who had dominated and delivered for so long.
Liecester narrowly avoided relegation then changed manage who won the title in his first season with his new club. Something that Conte looks highly likely to copy this season plus didn't both Pelgrini and Mancini both win titles in their first seasons at City?
Utd may have neeedec a bit of time to replace the ever successful Fergie but others have prospered extremely quickly from a change of manager.
If you can create enough fear of change you can continue as you are endlessly without having to actually do very much else but just keep people frightened enough to stick by you.
Fortune favours the brave Rodders, this time next year we will Spursdaynightaires.

Few things i need to get off my chest.

first of all the protests and negative energy around club is toxic and what player or manager would want to join a club where there is such negativity and negativity around a manager that has helped make us the big club we are today.

Also seeing kids with Wenger out signs and taking part in protests that arguably only support arsenal because of what Wenger has achieved for us?

We are all entitled to our own opinions and I too believe its time for him to walk at end of the season and a fresh new approach is needed. however I feel the protests, banners and this proposed plane flight is unclassy!

Believable5 Unbelievable9

13 Mar 2017 16:05:04
You can't win or lose whatever you do. Some people want wenger some don't and some protest and some dont. But what is worrying is some of the rhetoric coming out and spin. Mr wenger on tues night said, to put it into perspective, only a 100 people protested outside the ground, so out of 60000, 100 isn't very big. Is that how he is going to judge the feeing of the supporters. Some don't protest or sing or shout but its pretty obvious that there are more than 100 out of 60 are not happy. I think he ought to judge like us, have we improved over the last 10 years or not on the field, has he bought the right players, has he kept ahead of the game and come to a an honest assessment.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Mar 2017 09:15:08
If I am totally honest! If Wenger stayed I wouldn't mind only if he stopped buying crap players and stop scouting youngsters that just aren't good enough like this wolves winger! That's my pet hate all the other teams bring in proven players and we get "ones for the future " well where are the "ones dor the future " we bought in the last ten ten years, what I would want is a massive clear out and I mean big:

Walcott
Sanchez
Ozil
Ox
Wilshere
Gibbs
Tractor
Iwobi
Perez
Ospina

I am sure I've missed a few but u get what I mean then bring in a squad that can win the Premier League and build on from there, I know a few will say he won't do that but that's what I would like to see, this club was nothing before Wenger came we all need to support him.
In WENGER We Trust.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Mar 2017 20:08:12
Champions league used to be the European cup Jelfy mate and you used to need to win your own league to get in it and 4th place got you into the Uafa cup if you were lucky mate.
A relaxing of the criteria to be part of Europe's premier competition has given Arsene umpteen chances previous manages didn't have the luxury of.
I doubt George Graham'sā€‹ Arsenal teams would have been the last 16 whipping boys 7 seasons running.
