Good all round performance today.

Two unexpected, although needed, wins on the bounce.

But, we are still relying on others (West Ham) to scrape into top 4.

Papering over the cracks?

No way Dags mate, there are no cracks to be papered over at all.
This is just an accumulation of a long term plan coming together.
This time next season we will be champions of both English and European football, and let's face it who in thier right mind could possibly doubt that this time it really will be different?

Hi Ed033 mate, it seems quite obvious to me what's happened here, it's a simple case of Bobby Ewing syndrome and the last decade has been nothing but a dream that never really happened at all.
Arsene Wenger is a very top manager who is at the forefront of the modern game and Arsenal are a consistent dominant force in both English and European football.
There is no cosy club, there never was a 10 year gap without a trophy and the 4th place trophy has never been invented and anyone who can't see that just kidding themselves.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed033's Note - When i watched the original James Bond Moonraker movie; in it, Jaws meets Dolly (short blond girl with pigtails, glasses and braces) after the cable car crash. He smiles at her with his metal teeth, she smiles back with her braces.

However, apparently right now if you watch the original James Bond Moonraker movie, Dolly has no braces when she smiles back at Jaws.

So you are correct that some kind of Bobby Ewing like syndrome is taking place.

14 May 2017 11:36:44
I what you mean Ed033 mate, it's like the Humphrey Bogart saying " play it again Sam " and Captain Kirk saying " beam me up Scotty "
I saw and heard both repeatedly but now apparently neither ever took place.
Bobby Ewing syndrome is responsible for all misconceptions especially the most outrageous ones.
It's so obvious when you think about rationally Ed033 mate, I mean as if Arsenal could possibly go from a team of invincibles to a club that sees 4th place as a trophy, the very idea of it is ridiculous, as if :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed033's Note - yes, Patrick Vieira is probably the key (tap to the side of the nose a couple of times with index finger).

14 May 2017 16:24:56
Surely you mean Patrick Duffy Ed033 mate :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed033's Note - Yes, The Man from Atlantis had Patrick Duffy as an amnesiac, and amnesia is what we all might be suffering from.

14 May 2017 17:44:48
Yes Ed033 mate, he came from a long lost land where Arsenal still have on field ambition, anyone know the way to Amarillo, I mean Atlantis :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed033's Note - i seem to have forgotten.

14 May 2017 18:39:14
That will be the men in black and the little flashy thing that's done that Ed033 mate :-)
I could do with getting hold of one of those flashy things myself :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed033's Note - i wonder if it is the Men In Black who are responsible for the disappearances of people in the David Paulides Missing 411 books.

I am a bit worried now. I can imagine us finishing in top 4,maybe win the FA cup as well. and Arsene staying as everything will be fine for our board. top 4,trophy.

13 May 2017 20:19:25
I would still take that in a heartbeat.

Yet again more questions than answers as to why the players can do it when their futures and bonus is under threat but can't do it for the fans over a season.
Every season the same old story either they take their foot off the pedal once top 4 looks safe or rally to get the minimum requirement and keep the cosy club intact.

13 May 2017 20:40:05
Yes another ghost laid and top four still out of our hands, what can pool do tomorrow? . I want fourth and fa cup a heroes send off and a new manager. Result.

13 May 2017 21:00:28
Of the things you want Steve I'd say
The first is well possible but still unlikely
The second is a one off game so might see the underdogs triumph, doesn't look likely but the FA cup has a tradition of upsets.
Third? Probably better to concentrate on the first two as the 3rd looks the most unlikely of all 3 of making you happy mate.

13 May 2017 21:19:30
Oh gunner you have just spoiled my evening. Lol. I thought we were going to change as a club.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 May 2017 21:38:44
Steve do you really think that if we finish top 4 and win the FA cup Arsene would leave? If that would happened then yes great I like it.

Rob Holding is fast becoming my favourite defender. British, quick, plays the ball, doesn't take crap and seems like a nice lad.
Good to see him roughing up Stoke.

Totally agree. I think we should go for keane from burnley bring chambers back and get keown to coach them and give us the days of adams keown and co back.

Agree2 Disagree0

13 May 2017 20:55:40
Yes sy and he's my favourite defender under the age of 20.lol. let's hope he doesn't do a chambers or jenko and flatter to decieve. Early days but with a good manager and the right guidance, who knows.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 May 2017 21:02:30
Holding will be a massive player for us.

Kos is not getting any younger. Within next few years would love to see Holding, Mustafi and Winston Reid.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 May 2017 21:09:17
But didn't we try Keowen as coach once before? He kept having opinions and worst of all insisted on voicing them so we parted company.
Keowen has had years of being paid to have an opinion on TV and radio so I can't see him suddenly changing and becoming compliant.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 May 2017 21:21:01
Keown got us to a champions league final with his coaching. he is a man with opinion which wenger hates. but has the respect of football fraternity.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 May 2017 21:21:07
Keown is a non starter, he wasn't allowed to do his thing before, so won't drop his cushy job to come back.

City were never the problem.

Liverpool, with a bit of help from West Ham, we're always the ones we needed to catch.

Providing we beat Stoke away.

I know Wenger has come in for a lot of stick lately but I think going by Mourinho's latest comments we have been very harsh on him with this 4th place trophy thing.

Because now apparently if you're not just wee little Arsenal but the biggest and richest club in world football, you have the worlds most expensive player, have spent 100's of millions on players and of course have the special one at the helm then losing in the final of the Europa Dopa Cup and just winning the Emirates League Cup thing is a successful season.

If you add to that the sublime football they've been playing as well you can see where Mourinho's coming from and then you can see how harsh we've been on Wenger. πŸ˜‰.

13 May 2017 09:46:31
When you put it like that stoner it's bang on. The thing is you can compare the other way round as well. Say the likes of spurs for instance and the horror show at united dosent make me feel any better.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 May 2017 09:46:53
Big words without big results only lead to ridicule.
Mourinho talks lots and lots and the vast majority of it rubbish, but he keeps delivering where ever he goes and it's highly likely he will have united challenging for the title in his second season with them.
What do Arsene and Jose have in common? Well Arsene likes to talk a lot too :-)

Most managers speak with fork tongue snd they like to twist things to influence people. Even managers that get relegated say it might be a good thing because they will come back stronger, yeh right.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 May 2017 14:28:32
Funny enough Arsene was very complimentary about Sutton and Lincoln but says Chelsea and Leicester are bad for football! Wonder why he says those things about clubs who achieve what he can't? It's a mystery for sure:-)

Agree1 Disagree0

13 May 2017 14:51:51
It was somewhat tongue in cheek because yep they all talk a load of tripe and Arsene at times is up there with the best.

The thing with Mourinho though is he's still fighting to keep his reputation in place, whilst many a pundit or reporter might say otherwise he himself will dig out blind to say the opposite, he's been on it from minute one and has staked a lot on winning that European trophy.

I've never seen him look so worried as he was Thursday night, even kissing his lucky watch. They've played some pretty dire football and were outplayed for pretty much the whole game in the Emirates final by an unlucky Southampton.

But that doesn't show in the record book but god forbid he too became a specialist in failure. Now that would be comedy gold Dags.

13 May 2017 14:57:53
Mourinho said the game against Celta Vigo was the biggest game in Man Utd history, the man is an embarrassment to the club which proves you can't believe a word he says!
