Its a small world.

Funny that Dags, I wanted to call Alexander Graham Bell but I can't find his number listed anywhere.

(poor I know)

Agree0 Disagree0

A poor joke is Dags' specialty, 337.

Bet you wished you thought of that, eh Dagenham?

No one on the face of the earth is indispensable, yes wenger has done great for arsenal, but a man can only give as much as he has, he has giving all that is there to give as a football manager, its time he move's on to something different and fresh, heks got nothing else to give his belove arsenal.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Absolutely mate. Just like players, who can 'lose it' so can managers.

Yes he managed a world class team, moved us into a new stadium in a controlled way, but he, in my opinion, isn't buying enough defensive players, yes he is replacing whoever departs, but Flamini being bought wasn't good enough, Arteta being converted into a DMF wasn't good enough for a team like us, and the back 4 is never being greatly improved.

Attacks win games, defence wins titles. We have always had Amazon attackers, but when it comes to defenders, they've hardly ever been a brick wall, like Chelsea's.

It might only be one thing, like not buying defenders, but it turns into a major fault, and it's season upon season.

He seems to stuck in his ways, I'd love to have Lowe take charge. Show us some real steel, defensive quality and attacking flair. Need some ruthlessness, some players need to move on. We need midfeild variety and a way not to be caught on the attack.

Great reply Akie.

Totally agree mate.

Walcott completes his first full training session, Gnarby also puts in a good shift, hopefully we will seem that back soon.

Here's hoping mate.

We have missed Theo so much.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes put we don't need to rush him back, the season has really only just started.

I see Giroud is also ahead of schedule.which is excellent news

Agree0 Disagree0

Our most important player in my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

By our most important player, I hope you mean Walcot?

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes Rue, I mean Theo haha

Fisrt time post. All this "Wenger out" nonsense. Wenger has proven that he can manage an allconquering football club with the invincible. He is now proving that a football club can be managed successfully as a business. i.e Arsenal are in football for business, and not in the business of football. Pesonally, I am enjoiying the hyphothesis and the intrigue of what Arsenal will achieve under current policy.

Good first post mate.

From a supporters viewpoint Arsenal are in the business of football.

Football first, financial profit second.

Agree0 Disagree0

Take a look at Bayern, for their game against CSKA, which was behind closed doors, some fans bought out the top floor over looking the stadium, so what did Bayern do? They paid the fans back.

When they came to Arsenal, and we may aswell have been wearing a balaclava when selling those tickets, Bayern paid the fans some of the ticket price back. And said "what's 2million to us? Nothing, what's €65 to a fan, quite a bit, it's more important that our fans are happy, than if we get financial profit."

We have a cash reserve of plus £150m but they continue to take as much as they can from the fans. Having a stable club is great, not having to worry about going down hill, but we need to think football and fans first. Money afterwards.

Agree0 Disagree0

So do we just keep feeding the owners pockets and keep the clubs bank balance on our wall and celebrate. If we were newcastle or villa in our position then yes il agree. But we should be challenging now.

End of the day the owner looks in may we are 3rd or 4th he will have a glass to celebrate. If you finish 5th he may start to panic on his investmen

Does anyone else think Roy Hodgson may have found our next DM player?

Last two outings for England Wilshere has grown up and commanded the new role as holding midfielder, yes he still has to tougner up more formidable opponents wil still exploit in that area but promising start.

Please pay attention Mr Wenger.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Like you say ST hardly a grueling test for Jack in these games, I can see the potential but also the draw backs.
He gets injured a lot when tackling others which isn't good for a DM plus his discipline hasn't always been the best at times.
I think Ox could do as well if not better but maybe both together could be brilliant

Agree0 Disagree0

I believe he isn't the defensive midfield answer for Arsenal or England. His performances recently especially the game against City shows he needs the license to play further forward as his creativity would be far more beneficial than his defensive ability.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Oct 2014 14:20:53
As much as I like Jack I don't think that is a position we should be looking to play him in.

We need a ready made DM, if we are going to look down this route then Chambers would be a much better option but again, he is our future CB.

We tried Ramsey on the right wing are now trying Ozil on the left wing, just put them in position A and stop with the fannying around.

So just go and buy the real deal.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we are playing semi pro players like he was against them yes but against di maria, hazard, yaya then no

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Oct 2014 20:47:08
Agree with Stoner.

I can't stand all this fannying around.

Was Pires a DM or a striker?
No, he was a winger.

Tony Adams a DM or a RW?
No, he was a CH.

Henry a DM or CH?
No, he was a striker.

Play players in their best position and stop pissing about.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't see the appeal of buying number 10's when we have rambo and Wilsh (not complaining about the Özil signing) and playing them out of position!

Dags points out that none of the legends of the past played in various positions, they played where the should have and they performed. Always.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry dags, but Henry was actually a winger first. Also just to chuck this one in, Gareth Bale was a left back, so argument such as these will be invalid. can't remember who but i'm sure I did hear that a striker or midfielder ended up being a goalkeeper (I am being serious)

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah daywalker, Henry was a winger at first, but wenger did say "you will come to London and you will play striker." And he did exactly that.

And Bale, yes was a full back, but you can of course change position, and develop into a new position, and once he moved into that new position, he moved for a world record fee and didn't move from that position once there.

When in their youth, players can move from position to position, but when they are fully developed they shouldn't be moved if they are specialists, like Henry, Özil, Pires, Vieira, Adams or Koscielny.

I can't believe the amount of fans from other teams that are hating on Welbeck.

Even one of my mates who supports west ham commented yesterday that " utd must be laughing at us for buying him", I of course reminded him of two little words "Andy Carroll" which shut him up.

I don't get why people hate him so much, am I biased? because I support any player who pulls on our shirt.

English and in Welbeck's own words

"You put any world class striker on the wing and see if they score goals"

I am going to try and post regularly on the others page (or whatever we end up calling it) over the course of the season. I just put up a post about Ozil now. If you have any thoughts on topics or just if you do or don't want me to bother doing them, please feel free to share them here or there.

I am going to post them on there just to try and give you the chance to actually get stuck into the topic, as a banter page should really be lighthearted.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

In think it's an excellent idea Ed, see you on the other page, last one there's a spud

Just checked out the other page, its a nice piece of work ed, highly recommend it - cheers!

Later this week it is the Clubs Anual General Meeting.
If you had the opportunity to ask 1 question to either Wenger, Gazidis or Kroenke ( as they will be the main people on the head table ) what would it be?

Remember 1 question only so make it worth while!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

My question would be to kroenke ( i'm sure most questions will be put to Wenger so I don't want stan to be left out )

Can you explain what advice you gave the club to warrant taking £3m out the club as an "advisory fee"?

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Oct 2014 11:05:31
To wenger
"Why didn't you punch Jose in the mouth?"

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Oct 2014 11:12:17
To both,

"What is the 5 year plan, as in what is going to happen to the club"

Will be interesting to see responses, Wenger retiring? coaching changes? still spending big?

I would love Wenger to continue building his team for these 3 years (hopefully go out with a bang) but have a solid team ready for the next person in - the complete opposite of the United Disaster when Fergie knew his team's time was up and abandoned ship!

I like to think Wenger is preparing the team for the future

Great question Rocky.

And lol at Reet.

I would just ask Wenger why he didn't strengthen our DM position.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would like to ask Stan if he would consider hiring a Director of Football to come in alongside Gazidas. He could carry on as marketing director but we could get a footballing man in to look after footballing affairs rather than Gazidas doing both.
