Ed01. What’s your take on the news fifa would like to reduce players out on loan to 8 players. Pros? Cons?

{Ed001's Note - I don't think loans should be allowed, as it has meant clubs stockpile players. It would be better for the game if they would instead go to lower league clubs or smaller Prem teams where they get to play regularly.}

I'd love to see the loan system scrapped completely, use them or lose them approach would be a breathe of free air.
I'd like to see the 25 man squad raised to 28 but where under 21s must be named within that 28 to be eligible to play.
You can only field 14 players per game so 28 is plenty and including under 21s would force clubs to include them or sell them if no loans were allowed.

{Ed001's Note - exactly mate. It would be a much fairer system I think and help produce better youth players as they have to perform to keep their place.}

Surely clubs could easily find ways to get round this? Eg feeder clubs, favourable buy back clauses etc.

There’s always a way JG. PSG showed that with their middle finger up to FFP. More recently, the greek owner of Forest who also owns Olympiacos wanted to buy a player from Olympiacos to Forest - they missed the deadline so he simply ceased the player’s contract at one team and got him in as a free agent for the other.

I am not a fan of the loan system, other than as an absolute emergency for, say, the goalkeeping position.

At 18 young players should be in someone's best 28 be it at premier league or league 2 or in between earning a living rather than simply being given a living in someone's under 21s for a few years just in case they suddenly become good enough and if not they are then dumped at 21 22 with no trade apprenticeship or anything to fall back on so are left playing catch up in the real world where everyone else has a 3 or 4 years head start on them
At 18 you need to be playing at the highest and best level you can get a game at with a club that will give you the support and game time you need to be the best you can be, not a bit part in someone else's play z just in case plans.
