Hi ed, you think we will even end up
signing a striker? This benzema saga seems to have gone on too long. Very similar to when we were interested in higuian and he went to Napoli.
If benzema doesn't come who else do you see arriving if anyone? Maybe laccazete?
Im personally disappointed we didn't get jackson Martinez

Just saw an interesting stat!

Mesut Özil has created 145 chances for us since joining.

Of those 145, we've converted 16.

Now, I know it's also about what defines a chance, are we saying a clear shot on the edge of or in the box, or are we saying a shot from half way, but either way, that's a pretty embarrassing stat for our frontline.

If anything, it really should be evidence of our need of something else up top.

As you say D its what defines a goal scoring opportunity?
But what ever people's views on that we do need a natural finisher who in tight games can turn even a half chance into a winning goal.
Because when in full flow we create so many chances most half decent strikers would get 15 goals out of 30 games many of which we win by a comfortable margin but we need one who can be the difference between 0 0 draw and a 1 0 win. But they don't come for 15 million players like that cost 50 + million if established and 25 plus if you take a punt on a lesser known decent potential option.

For me Ozil get's a lot of unfair stick. He plays some good passes that are made to look like bad one's because the players around him aren't on the same wave length. I think it's a real shame that him and Theo have barely played together. I think they could really bring out the best in each other. COYG!

Alot of people making thier thought's known surrounding signing or should I say lack of. Just 1 thing to remember for pretty much every season I can remember Wenger has never only brought in 1 player during a summer window. there's always 2 or 3 whether they be good signing or not is another matter. we are a summer buying club not a winter one and Wneger will buy for the season in this window.

Ozil 2013 :-) although to be fair that summer we did sign Flamini and Sanogo on free's.

And there is usually some activity towards he end of the transfer window. I still think flamini will go and we'll sign a midfielder and a striker. Just don't know who

" come on every body " :-)
But seriously let's lift the doom gloom and despondency, I know last week was a disappointment and we've had a quite summer in the market so far (Cech aside) but there really is far more to be excited about now than for many many years.
Palace Sunday and I'm really looking forward to the game because its no easy place to go but we go there in great shape.
Things have been very very very much worse and not very long ago either

Exactly, the days of squilachi, Park ju yoong, Chamack, Bendtner, Andre santos, Eboue are long gone. Looking at our current squad we don't have any dead wood. Every player in the squad does add value.

The West ham result was disappointing but it is only one game and if we can show the form at the back end of last season then we will be right up there.

We are now signing players in the quality of Cech, Ozil and Sanchez and we have moved away from signing bargain leftovers. Once upon a time we had Silvestre in our team.

Nothing excites the mood then a brand new shiny new signing but one player isn't going to make a difference, Cech was a top signing but even with him in the team we still let in 2 sloppy goals. If we are going to compete then it going to be down to the spirit and the desire of the squad. This is the best squad we have in years so let's get behind them.

COYG!!

1000 agrees Noodles. And I burst out laughing when I saw the words "Andre Santos". I mean what the hell was that about?

Our first team squad on the official site now comprises of 24 players, including the outgoing Flamini & Campbell, effectively reducing the squad to 22. Chambers & Bellerin are under-age players, so we will have 5 over-age spaces in the squad available.
This weekend, if you remove the departing two players and three injured players, we have to select from a smallish squad of 19 selectable players.
I can see two players being signed before the window closes.

We should sign the very best striker we can actually get our hands on right now rather than keep waiting for a player who may never become available and even if he does may never be available to us.
If after we've got a striker it turns out the mirage actually turns out to be real then we've got belt and braces and happy days, it better than having our pants pulled down yet again Higuain style.

Wenger has said in his latest press conference that flamini is unlikely to leave. There also doesn't seem to be much interest in Campbell so those two may well stay in the squad.

Against Palace:
Bellerin or Debuchy?
Gibbs or Monreal?
Gabriel or Mertesacker?
Which two out of Oxlade, Giroud & Walcott?

Bellerin.
Monreal all day. I think Gibbs is vastly overrated.
Ox and Walcott. Let's mix it up.
Also Giroud does well when he comes off the bench.

Belerin he's better than Debuchy
Monreal every time
Gabriel needs games Mertersaacker needs rest ( lots and lots of it)
Ox simply has to play
Theo if not now when?
Love Giroud he gives absolutely everything he has but sadly he just misses so many chances as a goal scorer he really is a big gamble every time he plays, shame :-(

Ffs Wenger, go and sign Atleast one more quality player either a DM or a striker.
Atleast we'll have something to fight with other teams.
Common it's not that difficult it is?
We can sign de Bruyne if wenger wants to play Walcott as striker.
Theo
Sanchez Ozil de Bruyne
Or draxler or even gotze can be signed. Just sign a quality player, team will get adjusted. Just like when we had Cazorla we signed Ozil. And now Cazorla is a proper qualify CM not a CAM he used to be!.
People will say it will hamper the progress of Ox, but then again, if we sign a striker, then more often than not theo will play on the right, and rotate with him.
We can rotate Ox with the new signing then.
Man, just sign one quality player, everyone will get a lift.
Is it tooo difficult?

I believe we will sign one, possibly two more players. The negotiations for quality players are difficult and often go down to the wire. We have been working hard on shipping players out and are down to the final two: Flamini & Campbell.
The two mistakes, in my opinion have been to keep Arteta & Rosicky.
I would like to see us sign a quality defensive midfield player and a world class striker.
I would break the bank for Pogba & Lewandowski. I am not at all sure Benzema, who I have heard will join, would be a success in the Premier League. Lewandowsi at 26 years of age would be a far better option, even if he costs slightly more, assuming we could get Bayern to sell. The same goes for Pogba.

Robbie you're living in fantasy land if you think Pogba would choose us over madrid and barca.

Lemon Tree, these are my fantasy signings as I can't see us signing either player, unless we are prepared to break the bank with massive offers and huge contracts, which I don't believe we will do whilst Wenger is at the helm. That isn't a criticism of Wenger, as he has been and still is an excellent manager, it's just not his style.
We simply need more world class players in the team and they don't come cheap.
I know we are only one match into the season, but the same worrying trends are already there. The opening day defeat to West Ham was shocking. The injury situtaion, after only one match, typical, as is the lack of early window signings, We all know that we need a quality defensive midfield player and a top notch striker. We are still carrying the following players; Arteta, Flamini, Rosicky & Campbell. I can only see Flamini & Campbell going.
Lets get behind the team on Sunday and beat Palace.
