Wenger summed it up perfectly on MOTD saying we fell apart in the last 20 mins when Flamini came off. We were well in the game until then!

Next 3 games are must win now imo!

Ozil needs to start dominating big games, City are strong but we were well beaten.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

When will people start questioning wilshere? he hasn't stepped up at all this year and has been let off the hook too many times I understand that he is loves the club but that doesn't make him immune to criticism, it is hard to criticize giroud but he doesn't perform away from home which we need if we are to win the league, and stop blaming ozil he had a decent game he made key passes that lead to the goals we scored which is what he is best at and he dominating the game won't stop us from conceding that is the defenders job.

Listen gunners. Keep the chins up and the faith flowing. Arsenal have the quality to bounce back from this. Looking forward to seeing yous win the league this season. Obviously way over due but absolutely in. The pipeline. Glasgow rangers fan. Gunners enthusiast.

Wilshire got himself banned good! Hope its till January and we get better and better in his absence as it might make him grow up a bit.
He makes more headlines for smoking views on English eligibility and now making guestures than his football.
I know the Jack is every thing brigade will be outraged by this post and say about his injury or He's just frustrated, he's frustrated? Tell me about it, he's in danger of becoming a nearly MAN, well when he grows up he will be.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He is starting to really piss me off. Acting like a ten year old child showing middle finger. Really!? In the last two three games he has been horrible. He better puts some shift, before the goons turn on him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Think you are being a bit harsh mate. Yes he's out of form, but you got to take into account that he's playing out of position.
Are you forgetting Ramsey already?
Be patient, he'll be back.
I think ozil needs to be dropped for a couple of games, aswell as wilshere. For the next few games the team should be:
Schezny
Sagna. Mert. Verm/Kosc(if not injured). Gibbs
Flamini
Ramsey. Cazorla
Walcott giroud rosicky

Giving cazorla a few games in the centre will bring him back to his best.
Walcott as proven today is always a threat and a good finisher.
Rosicky provides a spark, energy and pace to our game.
This will make wilshere and rosicky realise they can't walk back into the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jacks a young man, just had kids at a very young age, has a lot of expectation thrust upon him from the media. It's tough for him, but every top English player touted as the next big thing has gone through a rough patch. Rooney, Joe Cole to name 2 of the most recent.

He's got good players around him. He could do with a more peripheral role within the team maybe, sitting out the big games like yesterday's but he will come good.

People wrote off Ramsey, don't write off Jack

Agree0 Disagree0

Just thought i'd remind you guys that jack saved a point for us at west brom and effectively put us in the last 16 of the UCL by single handedly taking the points against marseille. Every player can't have a blinder in every game, last night the problem wasnt that wilshere went missing, it was the the whole team went missing, just like we did against United and Napoli, need to get that winning mentality. And break the bank for yaya toure in january, that guy is unstoppable.

Agree0 Disagree0

Apart from being injury prone and being given more lives than a cat. Jack once again mugs himself off.
When are people going to stop saying he is a young man etc. etc. let me put things into perspective here. He is a MAN! with a family and responsibilities on top if that he is in the public eye and!. gets paid a kings ransom every week. Every time he puts on an Arsenal shirt he represents the club, the fans, and himself. He needs to get his act together. I'm not impressed by him lately on or off the pitch.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ramsey took a lot of stick but kept his head down put in shifts now reaps the rewards.
Merts the same
Giroud he may not always get it right but effort is unquestionably.
I am all for supporting some one who gives 100% but is struggling, you can't always be great but you can always give your all.
Wilshere has for some reason joined the Betner and frimpong club in order to make headlines, pathetic for some one with that much talent. His choice not mine

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't get it. Wilshere always puts a effort in, he's just going through the phase where nothing much is happening for him.
Why is Wilsheres personal life so important for fans, fair enough there are certain things which would be unacceptable but he has done nothing serious at all.
People complain about his press conferences. But he's asked those questions and has to give an answer.
Then there's the little gesture from yesterday, was it really as bad as people make it seem? Yes it was inappropriate but there's been much worse incidents.
Everyone keeps saying we know he's got quality etc then why not wait till he gets back into form then?
You said Ramsey was different because he worked hard, but that didn't stop him from getting stick and like I said before wilshere does try. Just be patient

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said GUNNER62. Exactly right mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

I have all the patients in the world for Jenks he doesn't always have a great game and occasionally looks out of his depth but gives 100% and does nothing to let the club down.
Pre this season I felt the same way about Jack but his antics are out shining his ability these days and he needs to change that and Quick

Forgot to mention,
We should have definitely had a penalty and the linesman was an absolute nightmare. He flagged 4 times when we were onside including the Bendtner goal.
Yeah Man City are good enough without hand-outs from the linesman and referee.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Dec 2013 18:56:24
Disappointed but trying to remain upbeat.
We knew this was going to be a toughie after a hard Euro game against Napoli and unlike Man City, were unable to rest too many players and we did not have an extra day to prepare for today.
That said, Man City were absolutely brilliant today and they over-run us in midfield. Ya Ya is absolutely phenomenal, IMO the best midfielder in the world. He breaks up play, joins in their attacks, scores goals and has an engine that would put a Rolls Royce to shame.
Up front they have the best partnership in the Prem, Aguero and Negrado, amazing. Their off the ball movement is exceptional and Nasri was a constant threat.
Whilst i'm still on a downer, I have to say i'm beginning to lose patience with Olly Giroud. I love the guy to bits but if you have pretences of winning the Prem League than you have to have a lethal striker who scores more than he misses, and Olly doesn't fit the bill i'm afraid, but other than that he's brilliant, but goal-scorers are suppose to score goals, the clue is in the title.
I thought Ozil and Wilshere were awful today and offered as much going forward as in defence, absolutely nothing.

On the plus side, we don't have to go to the Etihad again, Man City are lethal at home and I can see them winning all 19 home games in the Prem.

We have a 9 day rest, much needed IMO, before we play Chelsea, they don't scare me too much and we have to beat them than hopefully we can get back to winning ways away to West Ham, away to Newcastle and than at home to Cardiff.

monreal was woeful today as were a few others the game was lost in midfield ozil had a really poor game we need to sign at least 2 players in january and I mean quality players toure and fernadinhio dominated flamini battled but failed he needed help so maybe we go and get another defensive midfielder or box to box player ie pogba, bender, gundagon we also need a world class striker giroud is good at what he dose but he's not a killer also in these kind of games wengers tactics are not god enough next we have chelsea so come on boys let's get 3 points if we loose the season could be over like most years before the new year

Mertascker is a giant of a man inside and out, loved his berating of Ozil who was obviously disappointed but was told in no uncertain manner that you don't let the fans down after the game as well during it.

More and more like big Tony every game, slow but great quality and heart.

Bit unlike me to be positive in such circumstances. I'm usually doom and gloom and batsh!t mad. But I really can't get angry about today. Important points of note.

1. We're still top. Our form up to this point allowed us to still remain top after getting thumped.

2. The score was no way representative of the match played. They had 2 big decisions their way, we had 2 big decisions against us. City deserved to win, no doubt, but the scoreline is absurd.

3. Our good is still +16. That's not bad. Were never ever catching citys good but we still scored 3 goals today.

4. Man city are UNBELIEVABLY good at home. Were not the only team to get our asses kicked there.

5. Man city will still drop points away from home.

.

I will say this - Chelsea next week is an absolute must must MUST win. We win that, and this mess today is put behind us.

Let us not be downhearted people. The season is far from over

Coyg

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree our season is a long long way from other, but realistically we will most probably be 3rd next weekend as our mentality let's us down against the Utd's City's and Chelsea's of this world in games we're there's expectancy of us

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with the idea of not being all soon and gloom. It hurt to lose and the 6-3 score line is an ass kicking. Bit like the 8-2 against the other mancs. I can't remember the last time we thumped one of the big boys like that?

Totally agree with the thought of beating Chelsea puts this behind us. We have 9 days rest to regroup, recover and turn up at the Emirates pumped up ready to batter Mourinhos boys. They don't look good at the moment but are grinding out results and Wenger has never beaten Mourinho but records are there to be broken!

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Dec 2013 15:45:48
Yeah it's sour grapes, but I made this up to feel better

It's not that I hate City because they won today (although I do)

It's not that I hate City for spending more than £1B on players from national oil income by a family-owned country (although I do)

It's not that I hate City's strategy predicated on buying players simply to deny them being able to play for someone else and then leaving them on the bench or not even in the squad (although I do)

It's just that they are a bunch of unlovable tw*ts.

But I can still smile, because however much money they spend or how much they win, in the end they are still stuck in Manchester, gateway to Bolton.

Whilst it would be easy to offer an overreaction and declare all manner of doom upon our club after that, look at it like this. We gave everything up until the fourth goal. For 10 minutes we were dancing through the City defence, culminating in bringing it back to 3-2. We had them. Then Vermaelen reminds us all why he is not Koscielny and whatever energy we had left after this week disappeared. I am practically writing everything that happened after that goal from my memory.

Let us just hope it is not long term for The Boss. He has been the master of predictive defending this season and would've not only predicted the cross to Silva but cut it out with ease. Vermaelen does not have this (interesting to note that Silva was on his side of the pitch, yet it was still Mertesacker who was closest to the attacker whilst Vermaelen remained utterly stationary).

Nine days off now and nine days we need off. Psychologically, beating Chelsea is an absolute and I think we will do it in a cauldron of noise a week on Monday night. But frankly, we are still in a title race if we win and still in a title race if we lose.

Keep the chins up, Gooners.

Hi guys, i'm a little disappointed with the way we played especially in midfield but also feel if we would have had the pen and a couple of the offsides hadn't been given wrong we would have almost been on terms. don't worry I don't have blinkers on we were bad with our passing and city were brilliant but if we cut out the errors and play upfront like today against chelsea we should be ok. Eds / any other posters what do you think?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Dec 2013 15:05:01
I am very disapointed with the result. Our defence had an absolute shocker. Sagna and Monreal caught out so many times it was unreal. Kos and Mert were ok until Kos went off. Flamini was useless, utterly hopless in midfield. Verm was below average when he came on.Giroud worked hard, held up the ball well etc, but he just doesn't score when you need him to. The difference in quality between him and Aguero or Negredo was shocking.

Also feel we were very hard done by. Big fairy of a linesman crumbled to pressure from City fans and disallowed to perfectly good goals from Giroud and Bendtner. I think Wenger got it very wrong with subs. Bendtner and Gnabry over Cazorla and Rosicky?! Only players who had an above average game for me was Walcott and Wilshere.

On the other hand, City were unstoppable. Aguero, Negredo and Silva were absolutley amazing. Yaya and Fernandinhio made our midfield look very average. Kompany was exactly what we needed at the back, quick, strong, aggressive etc.

This game showed we are 4 players short of winning trophies. Giroud and Flamini are not good enough. Sagna just isn't interested and we had a scare at back when Kos went off looking really badly hurt.

Diego Costa - £25m
Bender/Pogba - £25m-£30m
Pisczeck - £8m
Zouma - £8m

We can only hope Liverpool and Chelsea drop points this weekend. Have to beat Chelsea now. Otherwise our season could cave in over Xmas.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We completely collapsed when Flamini went off. He doesn't do a lot but he just sits there and organises. We were on the up, despite just conceding again, and looked like pulling it back to 4-3. Then he went off and it all fell apart.

Agree0 Disagree0

Also, Wilshere was really poor today as was Monreal. Actually most of the team were, Walcott by a mile the best.

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't disagree with most of that. Left a very bitter taste. But the truth is we made them look good with terrible play in midfield, giving the ball away repeatedly, and had 5 legitimate scoring chances denied, 2 of which were goals, and one was a stone cold handball penalty. We could have controlled the game, we just didn't.

On the plus side this squad still showed more character than recent squads and hopefully this will give them the kick up the Arsenal they need to remind them what they had to do to top the league in the first place.

And everyone has to come to our house for the return matches now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Our season won't end next week Detroit but maybe our title hopes will decrease considerably.
Utd and city results thus far show we lose it when in the really the big teams.
Newcastle and West ham games will really decide our title fate more than losing to Chelski too.
If we can't compete with the best then we can make no mistakes with the rest

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Dec 2013 16:27:09
I disagree. Flamini is not quick enough or physically string enough. Also, He lost possesion too many times. We need someone who has the recovery pace and strenght. Fernandinhio and Toure were superb in the middle. I would have killed for Alex Song or Gilberto back today.

At 3-2 I thought we could do it too. Flamini should have come off for Arteta or Cazorla, not Gnabry. We needed someone who could retain possesion. I count 3 city goals from giving the ball away in midfield. We didn't do enough to attack City or surpress them at 3-2 either. Flamini isn't mobile enough or good enough passing. Being a good organiser alone isn't a good enough trait to warrant your place in a team that sits top of the EPL.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jeez. What's with the negativity!."Did anyone think we would be top at Christmas after the first game of the season?
We may or may not win the title but rather than criticise every one and say they aren't good enough get behind the team
Giroud and flamini have been immense this season. Verm has hardly played. Yes we need squad depth in jan but we were playing the best team in the league who just beat bayern on their own patch
Thought we looked knackered from wed in the last 15 mins

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you sure that Wilshere was best!? He was the most horrible Arsenal player on pitch today, except for one shot which was saved by Pantalimon. Aaron had an excellent game considering his opponent was Yaya and Fernandinho. , both are physically imposing midfielders!

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Dec 2013 17:51:11
i honestly don't believe the result told the whole story about the match.

You lot played brilliantly, it was a very open game and coukd have gone either way. The only difference is City's sheer quality. When you have the likes of Vermaelen, Sagna, Flamini and Giroud, they have the likes of Kompany, Zabaleta, Toure and Aguero.

While you have better team chemistry and an arguably more attractive playing style, the quality they possess in their starting 11 is breathtaking especially when they play in front of their own crowd and up their game.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Dec 2013 14:51:28
Chin up lads, on another day we could of come away with something.
Not happy on the switching off at set pieces and unforced errors can't do that against teams as good as city ir you will be punshed
I throught we pkayed well could cleary see we run iut of energy after there fouth goal
What about the linesman today absolutely shocking espically that one with wallcott when he was right next to the lino who gave him off its hard enough as it is at city you don't lino who can't do there job properly honestly seen better linos at sunday lge games

Anyway hope we don't start all coming on here with negative comments
We are still top lads a few addition s in janurary and we still can win this title
If your watching match of the day I would make a cup of tea after the arsenal game rather listen to the muppets on there

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well said Spanner. Very bitter result, poor play by us gave them the game, I didn't feel they dominated as much as it was we lost - and poor officiating. We know we can play better than that box to box, but can they? And plenty of big home matches to come back half of the season to equal this out.

We need a slightly bigger squad, but I'd hate to see everything go back to the old negativity when there's so much to be positive about.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wilshere was appalling towards the end of the game. He and Ramsey were completely overrun, and Wilshere just looked as though he didn't care whenever he lost the ball.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Dec 2013 14:57:01
Thrashed, hammered slaughtered.

Just shows how could City are as an attacking force, defensively we have been very good this season, yet we concede 6 today, even Bayern conceded 3 at home. For me City for the title. Every time we got close City scored a few mins later . Wenger will say the scheduling hasn't helped us, he might be right, only the home game against City will prove that to be correct. disappointing

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Dec 2013 14:56:00
One of the hardest games to watch. We lost the ball too easily. We lost every 50/50 ball. No one challenging for the second balls. Our midfield was inexistent. We allowed them score after we scored. This happened multiple times!

Words can't fully describe my devastation. I'm sure every Arsenal fan feels the same way.

What I've learned today:
- Man City fans aren't persons! They're the best fans in the world, a very respectful bunch of loyal fans

- We certainly need another striker in January. Giroud wasn't on his game today and can't carry us all the way through the season. He needs to work on his finishing, too.
- Walcott has a good touch and can finish well. I wish he can show this in every game he plays.
- We need to be better at stopping the counterattack, which means pressure faster and not commit both center defensive mids forward. This occurs various times when Wilshere and Ramsey played side by side.

City are very strong at home. 6 - 3, is a bad result for us but City had lots of other chances. but Giroud had a very close off side goal ruled out and Bentner also had the same.

City just kept on going and there were times that we couldn't get the ball out of our own half.

We need to learn from this game and take the positives into the Chelsea game. which we must get 3 points from.

Disappointed, but we will be back

14 Dec 2013 14:44:20
To be the best, you have to beat the best, and that was simply not good enough, Man city played us off the park, a 10 minute spell of good football throughout a 90 minute game is shocking, and i'm starting to loose faith in a a few players, Monreal was shocking, miss placed passes, constantly getting sucked in and leaving acres of space out wide, Sagna played more like a winger, lost the ball up the field then put no effort into getting back and defending, people will say give him time to settle in its only his first season, but atm £42million was a bit much for a ghost, on his day he is a great player but goes missing all too often, Giroud again on his day can be a good player but for me he isn't the player to play the loan striker role, he just doesn't have enough in his locker for it,
today the refs/lines didn't help, they need to have the balls to make there on decisions instead of flagging everytime the fans moan, to many wrong calls were made today for both sides not just arsenal, We have started the season brilliantly after a bad first game, I know the xmas period is hard, but 2 games against 2 of the biggest teams in the league and that's to lost, we need 3 points against chelsea.

I hope this turns out to be a premature surrender but I think I have been a bit carried away with our start to the season oooops

Its only half time but we are looking like we've hit the wall in our season, two weeks ago I would have expected us to run through it but now? Not so sure.
The tittle as always is decided by games against those outside the top 7 more than the head to heads but our character is getting tested and its beginning to look a bit weak.

But no matter what happens today we are on the way back, just maybe not as fast as I have lead myself to believe.

Come on lads one big push

I would be lying if I said I wasn't apprehensive about our game today . Against Man-u, I felt we were hesitant at times in the first half and didn't really relax and play our usual flowing game until the second half . Yes, I know city are a dangerous team, but I feel we should focus on playing to our strengths and give them something to worry about as when we are in full flow with our passing and movement we are quite impressive . This is a game Ozil should relish, as I think there will be space for him to use his passing vision . All in all I think a point will be considered a good result, but if we get a win I will be ecstatic . COYG!
