The ronaldo run continues legend. Bonys run also lives on.

14 Dec 2014 23:02:25
Never thought I would see the names Ronaldo and Bony in the same sentence :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Its quite ridiculous that Bony and Rolando are in the same sentence. its even ridiculous to go gaga over them, I saw the game on the weekend and Bony was slower than even a Caterpillar. Missed easy chances in the first half to put his team level and we go gaga over him.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Dec 2014 15:38:55
Theyre not in the same sentence.

Agree0 Disagree0

They sell bony they will drop like a stone. bony is 100 percent faster than giroud. I don't know any part of his game that is worse than girouds.

Agree0 Disagree0

They may drop, they are already dropping, from what I see. If bony is faster than Giroud he isn't faster than Wellbeck. So can Bony score the outrageous goal as Giroud did against Newcastle, No he cannot end of story.

Agree0 Disagree0

Id take bony finishing over welbecks. so i'd take that over his pace. bony has played in worse teams but still smashed it

berbatov scores goals like girouds all the time zzzz doesn't make a striker world class.

If bony joins liverpool I think he will prove a good signing

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Dec 2014 22:16:40
I didn't know Emile Heskey plays for Liverpool.

Oh wait, its Raheem Sterling.

My bad.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Dags,,

just because he's taken the dribble to a new dimension,, there is no need to be so veracious!

YNWA

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i think hes great mick...just dont tell anyone i said so..

14 Dec 2014 22:49:05
Lol, sorry Mick.

I like him really mate.
Just feel sorry for him at the moment because you have only offered him £80,000 per week :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Please Dags don't do this you know this will come back to haunt us next week,
I remember people laughing at man u at Milton Keynes earlier in the season

Agree0 Disagree0

Your mellowing Ed, it must be christmas!

i concur, great talent in the making, but he's carrying a huge load of expectation which should be being managed better.

All of a sudden he's our talisman!

With all that's going wrong for us at the moment, that's a burden many would struggle with, let alone a boy of just 20.

Someone needs to show him the tape of ronny rosenthal to cheer him up!

YNWA

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i agree mick the kid has bags of skill and potential mate, but he does need better players around him, and a manager who will treat him properly and rest him when he needs to...maybe he could sign for us?.. :)

14 Dec 2014 23:05:58
Fair point G62 :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

And what would you expect to get paid Dags if you had 16 kids.

YNWA

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - 4 viagra and a pair of ear muffs?..

Well if you can flog your stadium in time Ed "who knows"

YNWA

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - we would be lucky to get 49p for it mick..

I think he's had enough muffs Ed, leave his ears alone.

YNWA

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - like it mick..

14 Dec 2014 23:38:24
Blimey Mick,

No wonder he always complains of being tired mate :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Dec 2014 22:09:53
Just opening up a post further down the page from SY4 about Santi Cazorla's penalty.

Re the comments from the pundits.

Richard Key's> "The penalty was disrespectful to Newcastle's young goalkeeper".

Carlo Cudicini> "well done Cazorla, very brave. Not impressed".

Seriously, WTF?
Unbelievable, never heard so much crap in my life.

Were Liverpool disrespectful when they smashed 4 past us in first 20 mins at Anfield?

Were Chelsea disrespectful when they put 6 past us even when we were down to 10 men?

Were Manchester United disrespectful when they hammered our injury ravaged team at OT by 8 goals.

Was Fowler disrespectful to us when he score a hat trick in 4 mins?

Cazorla's penalty disrespectful?

What a pile of crap these pundits talk.

Really pi55ed me off.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - im with you dags..it was quality..

If messi or Ronaldo had done it, the comments would have been "world class" or " that's why he's the best player in the world".

Maybe the "poor young goalkeeper" learnt a valuable lesson not to move to early.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - or to maybe apply for a job at Mcdonalds?..

14 Dec 2014 22:50:05
Lol Ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

In baseball their is a type of pitch/ throw that the pitcher throws CALLED an off speed pitch. In this throw he purposely throws the ball at a slower rate than usual so the batter misjudges and swings too early. HOW THE F is that any different to chipping in a Pk?? By chipping it you are risking the chance that the goalie waits a little longer to dive. It's not different to taking a pump fake in basketball or even a fake shot in live play in football. Attacker Deception towards their respective defender is a big part of any sport. When Pirlo did it in one of the world cups it was considered beautiful. When we do it, it's disrespectful?? Give me a freaking break these pundits need to swap their knickers for some good old fashion marks and spencer briefs! They have no argument At All

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im with you kunal

14 Dec 2014 23:22:32
Totally agree Justk

Agree0 Disagree0

Pirlo and Ramos did it in the Euro semi final shoot outs and pundits wet their pants over it. Cazorla does it at 3-1 up in a nothing game and get abused. Deary me!

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Dec 2014 19:27:14
Bredan Rogers will ideally want to get 3pts on Sunday to relieve the pressure on himself especially at home but he certainly won't want to get beaten at Anfield in front of the kop.
So how will he set up against us?
And
How do we best go about coming away with all 3 pts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - its a good time to be playing them G62, they are low on confidence, and well to be honest...crap!, sanchez should scare the pants off them, and for me the only way you will drop points against them is if you try to sit back, my advice to arsene would be go for the jugular from the start, quieten the crowd, and tear that leaky defence to shreads...please.. :)

14 Dec 2014 20:04:30
Agree with Ed,

Do to them what they did to us last season.

Get them on the back foot for first 20 because they are low on confidence.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Dec 2014 20:19:42
The chance to redeem themselves and release the pressure was today against United, their biggest domestic rivals and they failed miserably.

Balotelli confirmed exactly what a waste of space he truly is, their backup keeper was all over the place and right now they're lost.

It is a case of exactly do to them what was done to us, fragile confidence in any team has to be taken advantage of.

I'd like to see Debuchy hold his position as CB next to Mert and Bellerin remain as our RB with speed against Sterling.

Sanchez, Welbeck, Giroud and the Ox to run them ragged.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - if it goes as i expect it to red dog, they will have to score 3 to get a point off you mate...and even their deluded fans cant believe they can score that many..even against hartlepool..

Like you Red I'd let Welbeck Sanchez Giroud backed up by Ox and Carzola run at them but I'd remind Flamini and both full back's of their defensive duties and not getting sucker punched on the break was very much their No1responsibility and getting forward very much a secondary role first 45 at least.
Disaplined demolition rather than naive all guns blazing for me

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Dec 2014 20:57:13
It's about keeping the belief ed, start as we did against the toon, right now are attacking strength is our defensive strength.

When you think we have no Ramsey, no Ozil, no Wilshere and no Walcott its shows that when we finally replace just Arteta and Mertesacker, and I'm not hating on them, we will be a team to be reckoned with again.

Liverpool, Qpr, West Ham, Southampton and Stoke, 5 games to do us the world of good before City on Jan 18.

Taking nothing for granted, they have to go out and take it.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - you cant get frustrated like you did against utd though red dog, if you had scored early against them, i have no doubt you would have won 3 or 4 nil, its important that you take one of the early chances im sure you will get, sanchez has the ability to tear skirtl a new one mate but it has to be done early, the longer it stays at 0-0 the more it will suit liverpool..

Hartlepool Ed .

Thanx mate.

Gonna have to take a viagra to get up from that one.

YNWA

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - sorry mick...but i have to have a kick while you down mate, its my job :) no doubt you will rise like a phoenix from the ashes, but until then....

Its about balance for me, yes we want ideally to be pressing them from the off and get an early goal but we mustn't give ourselves a mountain to climb in the second half by getting exposed on the break as so often has happened to us.
Losing the bad habits that have cost us so often in the past while retaining as much as possible of what we do best, its that fine balance we need to establish

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - very true..

14 Dec 2014 21:46:32
g62 and ed think you've between you hit the nail on the head, disciplined demolition and patience.

We are defending better as a whole unit with Santi even working hard.

We really could do without another false dawn but we do seem to have up'd our game.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - santi does seem to have got his act together red dog, or maybe because its nearly christmas i can say...maybe santi has a clause in his contract :)

14 Dec 2014 21:55:36
Ed,

Why do I get the feeling you have a very very very small dislike of Liverpool? :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - moi?...never!...well never small.. :)

14 Dec 2014 22:11:58
Santi clause?

Jeez Ed, and you have the cheek to moan about my jokes? Lol

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i can only describe it as ...like smelling your own fart dags..

14 Dec 2014 22:12:36
Back of the net ed, read that and weep Dags. Lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

The first half of last season we were at times unplayable and receiving accolades by the dozen but at other times we were winning ugly and people were saying we had added this string to our bow, oh and we were top too.
The city game at 6 3 was seen as just one of those games but it was Anfield that we really lost our self believe, let's hope Sunday we spot where we left it and bring it back home with us and keep it in a very safe place

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - that was a totally different side to the liverpool of now G62, without hannibal they are a shadow of last seasons nearly men..

14 Dec 2014 22:36:35
Speaking of farts.

A woman walks into a very high class jewellers.

She spots a beautiful bracelet in the glass cabinet, and as she bends over to inspect it, accidently let's out a big fart.

Feeling embarrassed, she looks behind her to see if anybody notices.

She spots the salesman.
Being the ultimate professional and pretending he didn't notice, he asks, "Madam, can I be of any assistance?"

Relieved, she asks, "How much is the bracelet?"

To which he replied, "if madam farted just looking at it, you would s**t yourself when I tell you the price".

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i liked that dags..

Benitez or klopp to replace rodgers then

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Dec 2014 22:52:38
Unfair Derby,

I think Rodgers is doing a brilliant job :-)

Got a feeling Ed will agree with me.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - give the guy a job for life i say..

Totally agree Ed Mr nibbles turned a 7th place team into challenges and a very fortunate manager into a one season wonder.
But Anfield is where we lost our self belief so is a very good place to find it, its the place more than the opponents

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - yes mate it was once a fortress, i remember vinny jones and dennis wise writing on the sign "THIS IS ANFILD"...SO WHAT!...quality..

We like to do things the right way Derby,

so we will be interviewing his brother klippity!

YNWA

Agree0 Disagree0

Was dennis wise on vinny's shoulders then Ed!

If not, that's a porkie.

YNWA

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - its true mick..they got slated for it...but they were known as the crazy gang mate..

I remember them well Ed, fruitcakes the lot of em! if only they could have faced us a few years earlier, they would have come up against a midfield consisting of kennedy, case and souness!

Now that would have been interesting.

YNWA

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - any one of them 3 would have wiped the floor with the crazy gang mick..proper hard men them mate..

14 Dec 2014 18:45:33
Have to say that with all the bashing sometimes we miss the what's in front of us. BFG has been a very important player, for his health and stability without which we would be in a way worse shape.

Alexis is our star but BFG - with all his limitations - is our unsung hero. Take that bashers!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Dec 2014 20:07:56
Have to agree Red.

He hasn't had best season so far but he has had Monreal, Debuchy, Chambers and Kos as his defensive partners thus far.

That can't be easy.

Agree0 Disagree0

When he's bad he's awful, sorry but its true I love how much he loves Arsenal and he looks good sometimes next to kos but on to many occasions he even looks terrible next to kos.
Maybe with a good DM in front of him it would make a lot of difference

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair comments, but my point is he show up to every game healthy and fit to play - unlike Kos, Debuchy, Monreal, Gibbs (TV5 before them) and that in itself is valuable.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Dec 2014 18:37:07
Richard Keys and former Chelsea goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini need to concentrate on what's important

Santi has an obligation to AFC not the society of young keepers

I think a Panenka’-style penalty is better than the Chelsea diving antics!

Let's get Saturday into perspective and stop the Arsenal bashing

Believable0 Unbelievable0

A talented confident player like Santi shouldn't care about the development of a keeper from another team! Great penalty, should be proud of his performance.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Dec 2014 15:14:43
Ok, Confession time!

Who was it that thought we should have signed Ballotelli?

He could not hit a barn door with a tank!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Dec 2014 15:30:02
Me! I do remember hearing that at the World Cup a team had agreed all with him and Milan. But they pulled out and went for someone else. Always wondered if that was us then Sanchez became available

Agree0 Disagree0

Not me he's useless, in fact a signing like that would have had a serious impact on my so far unfailing loyalty to Arsene.

Agree0 Disagree0

I know Dags desperately wanted him to join us

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Dec 2014 17:18:31
Not me, I said he'd be to disruptive and I remember ed saying he's as nutty as a squirrels fart.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Dec 2014 17:19:22
The fact he is failing to learn anything at all or improve himself in anyway is shocking.

He doesn't deserve a contract let alone at a Premiership club, dog awful attitude and player.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Dec 2014 20:10:02
Ahem, pardon me G62, lol.

You little fibber you :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

That's funny MGM, own up g62 don't make me use te search function!

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh was it me :-) sorry Dags I knew was one of us!
Oh yeah that's right I think I even volunteered to carry him to the Emirates from Heathrow if memory serves me right :-)
Well in my book either get it spectacularly right or be stupidly wrong, I don't seem to have got the hang of the former do i

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Dec 2014 22:39:54
Lol G62,

Glad you got your memory back :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Dec 2014 02:17:04
I did too, I admit it. .

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The chance is there again.}

14 Dec 2014 14:30:34
Think we need to give the manager and the players a lot of credit for yesterdays performance. Newcastle came in to the game in great form and whilst they also have plenty of injuries, they also had a good break between matches.

Debuchy looked pretty good as a CB let alone a last minute stand in - especially as he was pretty exhausted after his last match following such a long layoff.
Bellerin appears to be getting better by the game. He is a better user of the ball when he's up front than many of our full back options.

Alexis just did his stuff - what a great signing!!
We now see why Giroud gets Arsenes backing.

Danny Wellbeck to me is a true Arsenal player. runs and harries and also has plenty of skill with a lot more to come from him.

Santi is still a real handful but needs to get regular play even if all the other options are fit we need to keep him match sharp

Gibbs had one of his better games - think the confidence of getting england starts is making him a better player when he gets their side of the half way line.

Every one else had a great game as well.

BTW I've finally become convinced that AOC will become a proper top player - seems all he needed was time on the pitch.

sorry to take up half the planets supply of data space but I've been having a lot of system problems and been unable to post much at all!

The Ox is starting to remind a lot of Eden Hazard and at 2yrs younger it would be great if he stepped up to the level Hazard is currently at over this season and next.

Agree0 Disagree0

Only Sanchez has out preformed Ox this season, he was my tip for the top at the start of the season and needs to be starting 8 out of 10 games .
He is ready beyond question and most important he consistently proves it in games

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Dec 2014 11:30:25
So when wenger leaves who do we want in? Guardiola and kloppare the only two managers who would be an upgrade from wenger and even klop would only be an upgrade because of his age. So that leaves us with Guardiola, an excelent tactical coach who has won everything and at such a young age. I know 02 doesn't rate him, but that man is the best manager in the world. Yes he has had some of the best players in the world to work with but even so, he organises his teams into high pressing high intensity teams with winning mentalities. The work he does with players like Ozil and cazorla is incredible and something our team would really bennifit from. I don't think we'll get him so I guess it doesn't matter anyway but from a purely acedemic stand point it's interesting, no?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Pep is not a manager and he is merely following someone else's plans, as we saw at Barca it falls apart when he gets to do more than just follow what Cruyff marked out. Guardiola is a head coach, nothing more. An excellent head coach, but nothing more than that. Arsenal do not have the set up to suit his skill set.}

Oh come on now wenger is as much kroenkes puppet as much as pep was barcas puppet. I believe Guardiola dprsnt sign players, the board at arsenal won't do it for him but that is the only discrepancy I can see. A david dein character could rectify that

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Wenger is no puppet at all.}

My first pick would be Simeone. He'd come in here and toughen the lot of them up and turn them into winners.

Ed001, who would you say is the ideal next Arsenal manager?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Simeone, Bielsa or Klopp would be the ones I would look at.}

14 Dec 2014 13:13:45
Very interesting point Ed1. My Ideal would be to have a very good coach with Wenger in the "director of football" or whatever role. Continue to push his philosophy but through someone who's up to date tactically.

Imagine Wenger in that role free to scout new talents and work on the ground solely with emerging talents.

He's also shown he has no problem spending so long as we have it but is also careful. I think he's perfect for that role and has always operated in that, overseeing the move to the stadium etc., now I think the workload is too much for him and we suffer on the field as a result.

I don't want Wenger to be our manager any more, too many false dawns I don't think it will come good for us under him again, maybe the FA cup but not bigger. But I don't want a club without him and that would be the perfect setup imo.

We all know he's a great manager of the club, possibly greater than Fergie in that regard. But as a manager of a team he's not up to scratch anymore

Agree0 Disagree0

For anyone to say that they don't rate Pep Guardiola baffles me. Fair play he has had unbelievable talent to work with but managing all those egos in the dressing room and keeping them happy is hardwork in itself. He puts his own stamp on teams, they play unbelievable football and show fantastic commitment and spirit. The way his uses triangles to attack and defend is something else. The guy is footballing genius of the modern game and to any claim otherwise for me is a false one.

Just look at his trophie cabinet and accolades. For me hands down the best in the world at the moment but vastly unattainable.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Dec 2014 10:00:47
Even though I personally believe that Arsene should call it a day come the end of the season whether it be basking in glory (Top 3 finish) or (Cup) or (CL) or a blaze of fire (Top 4 or less) and (No cup) I have to say it was refreshing to see the majority of the stadium chanting his name and getting behind him yesterday.

Not for one second do I believe that every fan signing his name yesterday is a pro Wenger fan at the moment but it just goes to show the respect and unity we have for each other. He has a contract for 3 more years whether we like it or not and I for one am glad to see us get behind him while he is still at the helm.

As I've said time and time before although we are inconsistent, as long as we can sustain strong morale in the dressing room, fans backing our club and gain a little confidence from each performance we have the squad to match anyone on our day whether that be City, Chelsea, Madrid or Munich. We need to keep our heads high and keep believing in our ability.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Dec 2014 13:16:04
With you all the way until you said we have a squad to match

Agree0 Disagree0

So sheeny are you saying that on our day with a fully fit squad we couldn't beat any team put in front of us? The ability is there and we can certainly beat anyone in a one off game. Keep the faith.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im with you VDG..

16 Dec 2014 06:20:02
We've shown time and time again that we can't. "On our day" means maybe 1 in 5, but any mid table team could do 1 in 5 on their day

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i believe arsenal have the 3rd best team in the prem sheeny, maybe thats not good enough for most supporters, but you are the only viable challengers to the big 2 in my eyes, uniteds luck must run out shortly, they are riding a wave at the moment and getting results that to be honest their performance does not warrant, but i suppose thats football mate..

14 Dec 2014 04:00:45
I am exaggerating in thinking that was our best performance of the season? At home we seem so much better with Giroud linking the play up front. Away, he seems to struggle a lot more - why do people think this is?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think the whole team need to have more belief in themselves away from home. It's great to see the Emirates finally becoming a home in which our players are comfortable but away performances are vital to instilling a winning mentality.

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I thiink a lot of teams come to the Emirates with the same game plan sit back and catch us on the break and if we score early their plan is scuppered a bit, when we're away the home team try to impose their style more on us and we spend a lot of first half's trying to cope more than anything else.
If were going to have a bad day its invariably the first 45 that the damage is done

Agree0 Disagree0

62 you have hit the nail on the head. When we start chasing games we don't know how to attack with discipline, we only know gung-ho.

Agree0 Disagree0

If I could change only one thing about how we do things Van paying more respect to our opposition the day before the game would be it especially away from home.
It was pretty obvious stoke would try to get wide to feed Crouchies height last week and we reacted to it at half time, basically we need to be more proactive pre match rather than reactive at half time when the damage is already done.
That one change of policy would probably earn us 7 to 10pts a season and Liverpool and chavs results last season would maybe never have happened, the past is done but moving forward I believe we should be doing this as its a simple thing that involves no money or new players to implement

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - fair comment mate..

14 Dec 2014 13:18:24
Correct on all counts g62

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Dec 2014 22:28:51
Two very good wins on the bounce and now they absolutely have to be turned into a hatrick of wins at Anfield next week, not easy I know but its where we were so terribly exposed last season and our trouble's really began so would be the perfect place to announce and prove we have truly turned the corner this time

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Dec 2014 08:16:22
Absolutely 62, look what a run of 5 wins has done for a woeful United.

Agree0 Disagree0

G62 I can't see us not beating Liverpool at Anfield next either. Sure they are tough at home but they are in more dire straits than us at the moment and if we play half as good as we played yesterday the 3 points and a bag full of confidence will be returning to the Emirates!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i think thats half the problem VDG, you go in to games thinking you are going to win, and when you dont its a bitter disappointment, that goes for players and supporters..

I agree Ed 100 per cent. We build ourselves up and can't take it when we get knocked down again. Most fans of any club are guilty of this though I would assume.

Agree0 Disagree0

We have realise that as much as we don't like it other teams refuse to read our script and play the part we have given them to play, its almost as if they think its all about them, cheeky monkey's :-)
A bit cuter and a lot less arrogant at times would serve us well from now on, its not about fear its about respect.
Usually a point at Anfield would he great but we need to start winning back points we lost earlier in the season so it really has to be 3pts to continue the momentum and make up lost ground

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Dec 2014 13:21:50
Ed has it. And VDG I think we are the worst culprits particular the team themselves. They approach the minnows with a sense of entitlement a lot of the time particularly if we're on a run.

That arrogance has cost us big time in seasons past. Our best teams never did that. We've been at it maybe 5 years now.

Agree0 Disagree0
