No Winston Reid?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - We'll see. Derek who?}

Winston Reid yes I say, not sure what's changed your mind about him Dags I think he will be an asset

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jan 2015 09:55:55
G62,

When I said, "No Winston Reid", I meant why haven't we signed him?

I'm a huge fan.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he's reffering to the rumours that the little north london team are after him now

Agree0 Disagree0

Dags don't come on here boasting about your size please :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jan 2015 16:29:56
Lol 337 :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

I know you like him Dags that's why I can't understand why you keep saying NO to him, I think we should sign him most deffinately.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2015 21:30:43
At the risk of coming across anti Jack,

Have we missed him?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Jan 2015 21:46:43
Pack it in Golds! ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - szczesny has...he lost his lighter..

14 Jan 2015 21:48:54
Who?

😝

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair at the time he was injured he was in the top 3 performers for us behind Sanchez and Ox, now Carzola is looking lively again its going to be though getting back in.
If Arsene drops Ox for Jack Ozil or Aaron I will personally show him how to do that coat up once and for all, Ox is by far our most underrated player by most people even Giroud who divides opinion like few others gets more praise than the Ox, its way beyond me why few see how good he is

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im a fan as well G62..

14 Jan 2015 22:06:51
Hehehe

BOOM lol

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2015 22:28:39
G62 I'm with you, love the Ox and if he could start getting amongst the goals his confidence would go through the roof and he would be awesome.

On a serious note Jack does offer a lot, upped his game and will be a valuable part of the squad IMO.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ox has had kind words for Sanchez and seems to be coming under his influence, that cannot be a bad thing!

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2015 23:16:17
Ox is a beast, probably our most underrated player.

Love Jack, but his injuries are too much.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jan 2015 06:30:33
Dags,

As the latest injury was caused by that pathetic challenge and not relating to his so called "dodgy" ankles I'm of the opinion we need to see a run of games, by that I mean a proper run, where the ankle is not the cause.

He had taken a few big hits or come off but was fit for the next game up until that tit of a Manc did him and he was also looking to be getting some decent form.

I don't see Wenger getting rid so I guess we all wait and see.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jan 2015 10:00:01
Agree Red,

But over the years he has had lots of his "own" injuries.

Love the guy and his attitude but when will we ever get a decent uninterrupted run from him?

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't know what happens with these players at our club, Cesc was injured quite a bit for us and I can't remember him missing a game a the chavs

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2015 21:01:48
"You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become a villain. Wenger should have retired on a high after winning the FA cup last season. Now he is going to mess it all up"

These were sentiments brought up by a colleague of mine in a discussion we were having.

Thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - whats your profession...a clown?.. :)

14 Jan 2015 21:22:32
Rue,

You been watching Batman again? :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Decent saying that mate, Fergie bucked the trend but on the whole your right mate.
I doubt things are going to end well between us but really hope in two years time we begging him to stay but think there's more chance of Dags having a number one hit on both sides of the Atlantic singing " don't laugh at me" in galic

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2015 23:19:00
Am I getting a bad press again? :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - at least you won joke of the year mate..

14 Jan 2015 23:36:59
And well deserved Ed :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The weird thing is that Ed025s special friend is himself a rodeo clown.}

14 Jan 2015 23:59:09
Ed002,

That explains everything :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha Ed0025, I am a part time accountant, chef, clown and undertaker

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2015 19:46:59
Any one else notice, looks like Ozil's been on the roids since his injury, proper beefed up!?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - stera or hemme?...probably the latter, cos hes a pain in the arse..

I get the feeling your not a big Ozil fan Ed

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - what makes you think that G62?.. :)

Its the little things that give it away Ed :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it's this years shirts, theo looked like it too although they've both prob been in the gym for the last six months as they've not played much football

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2015 20:43:11
Lol Ed,

Love that :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought it was the shirts until I saw one of him in September and now. Definitely bulked up a bit. Whether that translates to his game. Who knows.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2015 21:19:33
Think you have to beef it up in the prem as it's so physical. I know theo purposely hit the gym to deal with the physicality, guess Ozil has too. Has was getting swatted alot. I still think Ozil is going to turn up second half of the season

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i hope your right baggins..or you might have to change your name mate.. :)

Yeah alexisbaggins has a nice ring to it

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2015 23:11:39
here's an embarrassing confession - around 4 years ago I was on the currant bun as nasribaggins. Then the greedy merc broke my heart along with RVP and Fabs. Football never the same after that period. Hope for Ozil, will depend if the fans are patient. Our lot can turn quite quickly in my experience

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - have you ever thought you may be a jinx baggins?...your new username should be.... jonahbaggins mate.. :)

14 Jan 2015 23:20:05
Baggins the bock?

Agree0 Disagree0

You on quite a roll eh Ed025? lol

Nasribaggins > Nasri was sold
Ozilbaggins > Ozil got injured 3 months

Care to change it to Mourinhobaggins? :D

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jan 2015 11:46:33
or wengerbaggins? There are a few on here that might like that jinx. I'm firmly sat on the fence

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - aiden mcgeady baggins would be good for me mate..

RVPBAGGINS! Mwwwaaahhhaaaaa

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2015 18:56:27
Aye? You alright son merts and kos our biggest defencive signings at 10 mil yet chambers cost 16?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Very good point that saint, :-) oh well back to the ironing board

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2015 18:53:49
Question for you lot, has sanchez gotten better as his shorts have gotten longer?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Jan 2015 19:37:10
Well I just read on FB that Sanchez has had a hand in 19 of our goals this season which is more than half.

It went on to say in the whole 23yr history of the Premier League has a new player had such an impact.

Then I watched a 7.30min clip of all his goals, short, long, with or without shorts the guy is something else.

Loved the way they've tried to say he doesn't do it against the big teams then saw the volley against City and the great goal against Dortmund. Different style to Henry but he is having a similar effect.

Awesome player, no wonder he wants to play every game.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - send a copy to ozil red dog..

I'm running for cover as I say this to a secret location where none of you will ever find me so its no good trying to form a lynch mob.
But I do wonder how different our season might have gone so far if we'd spent the 35 million on a DM and CB in the summer.
Of course I'm not knocking Sanchez in any way shape or form he's absolutely brilliant and we're very lucky to have him but it has crossed my mind what if several times.
I know people will say without him we'd be below mid table and that of course s highly likely true if we had bought neither him or a DM and CB

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2015 20:19:56
Ed025,

I think until we see Ozil in the No10 role consistently we are all going to be questioning his worth.

I will struggle to find any sense in Wenger playing him anywhere else with Sanchez, Welbeck and even Campbell more than capable of playing the left sided role.

I can't actually believe he doesn't want to be here though.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i cant believe you think he does red dog!..his body language is awful mate, my problem is that i dont like charletans, people give up precious time and pay good money to watch their hero,s play, the least the players can do is to give 100% and at least smile as they take our hard earned cash, he does neither..

14 Jan 2015 20:49:32
I see Red's point, but agree with Ed.

I think I posted similar a few months back, if you play CR7 at right back, he will still give 100% and try his hardest.

Look back through the ages, Pele, Maradona, Cruyff, Platini, Beckenbauer were all world class, but only because they worked their socks off every time they stepped on the pitch.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2015 20:56:14
I don't disagree with you ed I think the wording should have been I don't want to believe.

I want to think he sulked and once he's playing the 10 role he'll prove us wrong. Not that I'm happy that he'd have been sulking.

The rest of this season will let us all know for sure. As it stands I'd swap him for Pogba in an instant.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im sure everyone would..mesut included red dog..

Lol, I think you a bit harsh on him Ed. Ozil has never been much of a smiler. Even for Germany or Madrid, I can't remember occassions where Ozil has been a bag of smiles or a bag of unbundled energy. Lazy genius has always been his style

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i have seen the lazy rue...still waiting for the genius mate..

When he first arrived he looked very happy ( I am Gooner) and doing the ups with chewing gum, being played on the wing hasn't helped at all

Agree0 Disagree0

I believe sanchez is better than ozil in the number 10.

ozil should watch a d.silva dvd I love that guy

Agree0 Disagree0

" if you play CR7 at right back, he will still give 100% and try his hardest."
Are you joking dags? He wouldn't, he'd ignore instructions and play his normal position of standing waiting to get the ball back.

I personally don't see a huge difference between ozils body language now and when he played for madrid, that's just ozil, stop expecting him to be someone else.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im with you lemon..

14 Jan 2015 18:00:10
With the rumours circulating about Virgil Van Dijk would he be used as a DM? I like him and he reminds me of David Luiz. Not just because of the hair, but he's a good goal scoring threat as well as a fairly good defensive unit. And I think he's athletic enough to play holding mid.

Opinions. . .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It is far from the norm to buy players to play them out of position.}

Granted but David Luiz was better at DM than at CB for Chelski. Plus with Van Dijk being good from corners would mean we wouldn't have to gamble as much sending him forward, leaving the defence vulnerable. We could keep 3 back instead of 2.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - A truly bizarre thought process.}

Any news on the Scotty Parker deal? Its gone a bit quite since I last mentioned it

Agree0 Disagree0

Id love van dijk. Tall. Fast. Strong. Excellent on the ball. Would be a better dm than luiz I reckon.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yep let's sign players and play them out of position, oh wait we already do! I reckon Sanchez would be good in goal.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - he probably would you know 337.. :)

14 Jan 2015 20:52:05
Ed,

Could you please ban G62 until he gets over his Scotty Parker fixation please.

Worse than me and Remy :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - its not that bad yet dags.. :)

We'll think of it this way, would you prefer a DM to be more defensive minded or more attack minded. Our problem with our CM is that they tend to join in going forward leaving the defence exposed on the counter. Why would playing a CB who is very good with the ball at his feet be a hindrance as a lone DM??? Would leave the other midfielders to do what they want.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2015 21:25:05
Ed,

Can't you just give him a yellow and fine him 2 weeks wages? :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - he cant have much in wages dags...hes on here more than me!.. :)

14 Jan 2015 23:22:01
Lol Ed,

Let's just let him off with a caution :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - ill make this a no parker zone..

15 Jan 2015 00:05:41
Lol, that's the one Ed :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Great, looks like Bony will have a point to prove against us on Sunday!

I hope we can have enough going forward to keep them on their toes, If we play like we did against Stoke we have a good chance, would have loved to have Debuchy at RB.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Bony won't score on sunday against us trust me

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - unless he can hit a ball 3300 miles your right..

Think your find his at African nations 😃

Agree0 Disagree0

Tbh iv seen his legs he wouldn't be far off

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - he has got legs like nijinski DG..and i dont mean the ballet dancer!...

He has a cracking shot on him! Did'nt think of that, so just Aguero and Dzeko to worry about then!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - or silva..or toure..or navas...or..

Bunch of know it alls! And its 3324 miles to be precise ed

Agree0 Disagree0

Is Toure not going to the ACN before sunday? I tried to search but conflicting info

Agree0 Disagree0

Yaya is not playing he's away correct

337 head in hands moment when you realized about bony. we have all been there we feel your pain.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2015 16:47:14
I can't see us scoring past Joe Corrigan.

337, you bloody doughnut lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'll get over in time, maybe some counciling or something will help.

Still at least I'm always right with mt predictions lol

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2015 12:36:56
Did you know Carzola Chambers and Welbeck share the honour of being our joint 3rd most expensive player at 16 million.
Not many people know that

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Kos and Mertesacker are our biggest defensive buys at 10 million each, although Campbell and Gallas were already both very top players at a good age when we got them neither involved us having to part with any trransfer fee to sign them

Agree0 Disagree0

You bored G62?

Who was our biggest waste of money in your opinion?

I would say maybe Reyes, he was a lot of money.

And our best bargain is a bit more difficult in AW's early days, I mean Anelka £500k, Henry £11m, Viera? Campbell on a free? At the moment it's Sanchez even at 30+ million.

Agree0 Disagree0

A bit 337 :-) so decided to look at where we have and haven't spent money in the past positions wise and found it surprising that Carzola at 16 mil was our record pre Ozil.
To be fair it shows that in 18 months we've eqauled that figure twice and more than doubled it twice moe which is very positive but so far no sign of defensive strengthening if you consider its its Debuchy for Sagna and Chambers for Vermeullan.
Biggest flop? Probably as much it hurts to say Ozil unless he can turn it around soon
Best bargain?
Where to start there were so many like you say in the Early days of Arsene management it seemed the conveyer belt would never stop with bargain after bargain emerging, now I'd say Ox Kos and Sanchez are the players who look an absolute snip at what we paid for them currently as Aaron did last season plus too Theo has at times.
I really hope the next couple of times we break that 16 million barrier its on stopping goals, that would make me a lot less bored :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

G62, if we solved all our problems we would have nothing to talk about!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - and we would have to listen to dags waffling on about rubbish, and telling inane jokes.. :)

14 Jan 2015 17:00:16
Lol, thanks Ed :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - your welcome mate..

Ps best bargin Amaury bischoff. obviously ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Sounds like my Missus logic, apparently she doesn't want solutions to her problems just for me to listen to them properly and me suggesting ways out of them just belittles her as a woman.
I want a £2000 a week job doing something I really enjoy, if she tells me where to get it I don't mind being belittled in the slightest

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2015 11:08:45
with papers saying mr philosophy he is willing to let Januzai go in the summer, anyone else think he would be fantastic for us and our system as one of the wide attackers.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - he would not get in the side mate..

Be good for rotation, they could all play twice each season

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he could be as good as he wants to be. seems to of gone backwards abit after his big pay increase. I rate him highly tho.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thing with manu they have two many central strikers. plus mata.

falcao would of scored so many here. he thrives on crosses etc. di maria I feel is one of the world best wingers but he's being played out of position

they need to move two of the 4 on. rooney wil stay. falcao I don't think will sign. so one from rvp, mata I think.

id play di maria and januzzi outwide for now.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2015 09:32:49
Reid is looking likely to join us which is no bad thing I think we should sign another CB too, why?
Because if Claud Makalele was 26 and available tomorrow for 30 to 40 million Arsene wouldn't be interested, he has never once spent big on our defensive needs that I can remember (can anyone?)
We have to make our self's less vulnerable away from home especially in big games and by having 3 5 1 1 as an option we could do that for less than 10 million.
If we don't solve this problem cheaply or by spending the necessary money on our defensive needs nothing will change over 38 games each season.
Change is needed we all know that and the only choices I see are tactics or spending big on the defensive side of our game, one is permanent the otheris IMO a viable option in big away games

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Reid is apparently on his way. I don't feel that we need another centre back, as we have Mertesacker, Koscielny & Chambers (in my opinion will become a centre back). We have four full backs - Debuchy, Bellerin, Gibbs & Monreal.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2015 10:27:21
The £18 million pound bid for Lars Bender leads me to believe that Wenger is happy to spend money on that position.

Schneiderlin fits the bill as probably Bender still does so I'm pretty sure he will look to replace Arteta, like you I am hoping it is sooner.

It will be interesting to see who Wenger trusts with the DM role against City. Personally I'd like Coquelin to keep his place.

Agree0 Disagree0

Id like to see Coq play but would hate to see him hung out to dry like Flamini against Liverpool, it was 4 againgst 1 and they just passed around him like a training session, I felt sorry for him chasing Shadow's alone in that game and if it happens to Coq it could set him back a long way
I'd play a Defensive midfield 3 of Coq Flamini and Monreal and hit them on the break with Carzola Ox and Sanchez, a little negative I know but a win would do so much good for us and a hiding so much damage to us, so needs must IMO.
Is 18 mil realistic for Bender? or even big money in today's football.
As always I'd like to be shocked and see us do what's needed even if its a bit OTT on price but in the absence of that happening I think a cheaper tactical alternative might be our best hope

Agree0 Disagree0

Stoner is all over Arteta and the guy hasn't played in ages, all the crap has happened with him out.

Look for Arteta to ultimately be a veteran presence that spot starts, subs and is part of a rotation - not disappear, so sorry mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just for the record if fit I'd play Coq Flamini and Arteta Sunday, none are accomplished DMs ( Coq may become one in the future) but they are the best of what we have.
Because Arteta isn't available I'd play Monreal on the Left of centre MF

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2015 12:40:40
Red apologies mate but I like Arteta, I have just pointed him out as the style of DM we need to replace.

His ability to keep the game moving and make the right pass isn't in question where as getting around the pitch is where he lacks.

Schneiderlin does it all, I have no snags with Arteta staying but age is not on his side. I think Wenger looks at him as a valuable part of the squad from what he brings off field as much as on and he wants a player like him to fill that role.

Hope that clears it up for you fella.

G62 it's not so much the money, I'd be happy for him to pay big money for the best DM, it's the fact he has actually bid for a DM which shows he knows what he needs.

Agree0 Disagree0

Anyone remember Arteta's performance away to Napoli last year? Where's that guy gone, he was a beast.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cool Stoner - I am in for Schneiderlin as well, bid add if we can get him.

Agree0 Disagree0

If he makes a real effort to get Bender and offers to pay the going rate in fee and wages I will be ecstatically happy whether he comes or not Stoner mate as like you say it would show real intent.
George was famous for offering 1 mill for a 5 million player and when people moaned about lack of spending on players we badly needed he would say " I made a bid for so and so but he wouldn't come "
That famous old Arsenal blame deflection tactic we've all come to know and unlove so much over the years.

Agree0 Disagree0

Prefer Charlie Austin for 14m.

Better still, we can get Steve Austin for 6m.

Did you see what I did there? :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - yes unfortunately dags..

That was dollars so a really good deal!

Agree0 Disagree0

Is the Rattle snake back? Or is there another Steve Austin who use to live back in the 50's?

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't think stone cold steve has the build for football, although there is a thought that maybe we could use the bionic man tecnology on Diaby.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ummm didn't Steve Austin have one bionic leg and one normal one? Can see Diarby now hopping the sidelines

Really think arsenal should try and buy shawcross solid defender think it would be great signing it would make him better and get the England call up he deserves to arsene read this lol

Believable0 Unbelievable0

While I do quite rate him as a defender, I don't think he could ever join us, I don't think it would be very good for squad harmony

Agree0 Disagree0

Thug! (shawcross that is)
