Sorry that post was meant to contain something about n'koulou but it didn't come through.

Ed002's Note - Nicolas N'Koulou was looked at by a number of sides including Arsenal, Lyon, Norwich, West Ham and Napoli with a view to a summer 2015 move. Marseille did expect interest from Lyon to lead to an offer but they may well be hedging their bets to pick him up when his contract runs out in the summer of 2016. Four clubs held discussions with Marseille that could have lead to an offer being made in January to take the player. Roma were very keen on adding another centre back in January, Chelsea who had been having on-going discussions over two other matters with Marseille, Spurs who were non-committal and Lazio. Lazio told Marseille that they were looking for a pre-contract agreement to take the player when he is out of contract in the summer - but Marseille explained he would be available for a small fee in January if they were interested - but they weren't. Leicester, Inter, Besiktas, Schalke, Juventus, Valencia, Spurs, Manchester United, Everton, Norwich and Arsenal have all watched the player this season and it is not out of the question that one could step in and make an offer - my ex-wife suggests that Leicester, Schalke and Besiktas are likely to make him an offer but is surprised that no one has already sought a pre-contract agreement with him. Spurs has asked to talk to a representative of Marseille but the club's position is that he will become a free-agent so talk to his representatives. He has significant demands financially. There are complications at Marseille which are stopping them assisting in this process right now. }.

Hi Ed's,

Given that Stoke have put a £13m price-tag on Arnautovic, could you see the club going for a bid. I think his ability on the ball and versatility across the front three would make him a useful addition

Cheers Ed's.

{Ed001's Note - unlikely.}

He is a player that I like. He is tall agressive and has an eye for goal. At £13m, he would definitely be worth considering.

Well it's been an awful long time since my last post - well over a year. I've been busy in the last few days watching the cream of European football and the singular lack of any attacking talent.
With only the two group F games to go it's fair to say the strikers have been shocking. The best? Well amazingly - Giaccherini (that great Sunderland and Italy striker! ) and Milik of Ajax and Poland.
Among the first game failures - Kane, Muller, Lukaku, Griezman, and Morata. Each and everyone a £50m plus player! Actually in fairness the 34 year old Ibrahimovic was ok although hardly looked £200k a week player.
So while we sigh and bang the table in anguish at the lack of action on signing a world class striker are we just ignoring the fact there are as 'rare as hen's teeth'?
Of course one game doesn't make a player a bad player but the tournament does show just how few real class strikers there are.
I'm so far from convinced about Cavani and Aubameyang is class but has too many rich suitors ahead of us, after that Benzema is fantasy, Aguero absolute class but never going to leave City.
So United, City, Barcelona, Paris St. Germain and Chelsea all want and need strikers and we have a real dearth of striking talent - yet we rant about Arsene's failure to address our weakness in that area.
Going for Vardy makes 100% sense but even that seems in the balance, and has the real risk in that he only has one really good season behind him. After that Sturridge (maybe with Walcott as part of the deal (but he is so injury prone you worry he'd be far too good a fit at the Emirates.
After that? Erm well no idea.
Yes we need a striker but I get the feeling if Vardy says no we may have to resign ourselves to another season of anguish.

{Ed025's Note - yeah happy with that je, he did not come cheap but the best things never do mate..onwards and upwards now i hope..

14 Jun 2016 16:54:13
Other than Southampton he has hardly done anything of real note, I'd be worried.

Just joking ed.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - then his time is to come chris.. :)

14 Jun 2016 18:14:13
Keoman is klass i'm envious, yet another arsenal future manager drifted away from us.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jun 2016 19:18:02
Is he class really Steve? He only ended up at Southampton because he failed everywhere else didn't he?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I am with you CTR, time will tell, but he has relied heavily on Southampton's black book and system. He was out of his depth in the past, without that support network, be interesting to see how he gets on back at a club that doesn't have the first class professional set up of Southampton. I fear he will struggle. Though Everton will hopefully build the set up for the long term anyway, and get input from his experiences at Saints, to make sure that they are stronger for him being there.}

14 Jun 2016 20:41:48
Same can be said of Claudio Raneiri CTR ending up at Leicester CTR mate, I'm sure Everton won't mind if he replicates his achievements in his first season.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jun 2016 21:25:24
Forgive me g62 but Ranieri was considered a far better manager.
Whereas Koeman failed when at a club without a decent set up.

I'm not saying he will fail, I just question this top manager guff being said about him. There's a reason him and lvg don't get on, there very similar.

14 Jun 2016 22:47:16
Ctr he's obviously learnt from his failings and the job he's done with the resourses available is unbelievable, when poch leftthey were favourites to go down. he's got them in europe and done an amazing job, top manager. As for him and lvg, I think like me he thought he was an absolute plonker and didn't like him, because of past history. He won't fail at everton far from it.

14 Jun 2016 18:03:57

Great appointment for Ed025 mate I think he's done a fantastic job at Southampton despite the club selling all their top players since he arrived he's still took them forward, brilliant.
Steve 2 seasons back none of us would have been excited by Keoman so who knows who might shine next season and step forward as a potential next manager, if Raneiri retained the title or even somehow finished top 4 again? Or Eddie Howe got Bournemouth into the champions league and won the fa cup next season I'm sure they would be high on our short list mate
Personally I think it might well already be sorted out with Henry stepping straight into the hot seat.

again about hati

I see jack I can't get into any team Wilshire is at it again, this time about hating Wales. He does the Same thing every season about spurs, he should be spending more time on the training field trying to break into arsenal and Englands teams than gobbing off. The only pleasure I get from him us that I know he won't be talked about in 20 years time when he hangs his boots up

. He does the sane thing for Arsenal.

Believable3 Unbelievable7

14 Jun 2016 12:50:10
Jack 'can't get into any team' Wilshere who is in the best 23 players that we have in this country? Who Hodgson and every other pundit said he had to take because he is the bit of class that the English midfielders don't normally have? Who Wenger is prepared to offer a new contract to even after lengthy injuries because the lad is pure quality?

You need to get out more mate. Or take your Spurs hat off.

It's nice in the real world, come join us!

Well he isn't in the starting 11 for England he is a bench warmer watching dele alli taking his place.

Agree5 Disagree5

14 Jun 2016 13:48:53
Come on! At least he shows a bit of passion, desire and earlobes. He's a fan as well as a player and he should of been in the 11 over Ali after he's poor performance in the friendly a and worse and to the season with Spurs. The rest of the players should show passion publicly too because they'll only get accused of not caring if England get knocked out early.

Agree3 Disagree0

14 Jun 2016 14:04:44
Isn't in the starting 11 for England but arguably should be?

Plus he is ahead of countless midfielders to make the final squad.

He would stroll, walk, limp and hobble his way into most starting 11's in the Premiership.

You are a fool. The end.

Agree4 Disagree6

14 Jun 2016 14:08:15
Nothing wrong with passion, but he has no class at all. He is always fighting in nightclubs etc and is a trouble maker . He needs to take some tips from Paul Scholes and frank lampard how to behave off the pitch.

Agree6 Disagree4

14 Jun 2016 15:26:55

Viktor Lindelöf looks like a perfect fit for us, backup on the right aswell. Saw him yesterday can see why they call him Ice Man in Portugal. Big audition against Belgium and Italy coming up, hope we have some scouts out ;)

Arsenal fans ( like me) . Buy him get him sign him oh I watched him for 10 mins he s not good enough so buy him get him, oh he doesn't have the quality! ReAlly what do we want! No one is good enough or ready enough or has the quality! So let's buy the potential so we can moan about him!

I think Dallas is saying we're fickle and never happy. He's 80% right.

We defo need an upgrade on Olly though (who scored for France) .

Like £65m lukaku (who didn't) , or £50m morata (who didn't) or king of the world Zlatan (who didnt) , though to be fair zlatan did look class, just unlucky. Maybe we should nip up to Sunderland for Giacarini (spelling) .

Will be interesting to see how vardy fares when he gets his chance.

Agree0 Disagree2

14 Jun 2016 19:38:11
We won't pay what it will take to land Lukaku or Ibra and if anyone thinks Morata is anything but absolutely massive gamble as far as our being the natural poacher we need I'd like to know what they see that I don't because he just looked lost in a team that creates more chances than even we do.
We need a proven goal scorer not someone we might be able to turn into one some day, may as well stick with Theo if we're going to do that.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jun 2016 21:23:08
I don't think we should sign Morata. Though to be honest, I'd be very disappointed if we signed lukaku. Maybe if he was 25mil or so. But for the same price as aubamayang? No chance.
