Really wish we signed Welbeck on loan instead of for £16m. Its not that I don't like him, I admire his workrate and attitude. But he is not good enough. He is a second choice striker and back up winger. His pace will be usefull in some games. But 9 times out of 10 Giroud is the much better option. Had we signed him on loan I would be all for signing a top quality stiker to give Giroud real competition as Striker.

However, a new first choice striker could see Girouds form go downhill. A bit like Chamahk. He was class in his first 6 months, then RVP came back and the bloke couldn't score because he was only playing sub appearences and the occasional game.

I think we stick with what we got, Welbeck won't leave this summer and Giroud is capable of leading the line on his own with Sanchez, Walcott, Ozil, Ox, Wilshere and Cazorla behind him.

Goal scoring has not been our problem this season, its been keeping them out. Since Coq and Opsina came into the team, Monreal and Bellerin found form and Gabriel was signed we have been much better.

Signing another CDM and a Gk/Cb/Lb based on transfers out and we will be solid for all of next season, barring a ridiculous 6/7 man injury crisis.

I don't think we necessarily need to sign a goalkeeper or a defender. However I'm not against it if there's a chance to sign someone truly special. If there's a chance to sign a player like Varane or Cech, yes please. Anything less isn't going to help us as we already have both strength and depth in these positions. So let's wait for an opportunity and not make this an obsession.

What we need is a striker who will compete with Giroud who at the moment is irreplaceable. Welbeck and Walcott aren't suitable in my opinion for the role. I would have liked Dybala but that's probably not going to happen now. My choice would still be Cavani but at least according to Ed002 we're not interested. Higuain and Martinez have been mentioned but I've never really been a fan of Higuain and Martinez is playing in Portugal so I don't think it's that obvious he'd make it in England. Benzema is a player the press keeps still linking with us and he'd be well suited for our play but will he leave Madrid? This is going to be the most important transfer of our summer and it will probably determine if we're going to win the league or not.

Defensive midfielder should be another priority. Like Giroud, Coquelin is irreplaceable. I would like to keep Arteta at the club but play him rather in Cazorla's position when needed. I think we'll sign Schneiderlin and that would be interesting. He can play alongside Coquelin but can he play in place of him? He's a better passer but is he disciplined enough and can he protect the back four on his own?

100% agree Iceman. Like Wenger loves to say, if players or too quality are available then go for them. If not don't bother wasting money on second rate players.
