It's the raver coming through in his famous Subaru, what a lovely day I've had watching the spurs win again to send off the most iconic football ground in the world. I've gone through more Kleenex than a Amsterdam brothel.

Also to R.G. my day was even sweeter watching Liverpool run riot against West ham to put your lot on Spursday night football, I'm having an exceedingly good day heading into Stringfellows in the Subaru with Hoddle and Waddle on full blast DIAMOND LIGHTS.

Oh dear raver, perhaps you have failed to realise that there is no trophy for finishing second. It's amusing that you have left the dump known as the lane, when in fact you will still be there. The venue of failure, the venue where Arsenal won two titles, Whiich is as many as the toot won in their entire history and they were both won during the last century. The last of which was in 1961, over 56 years ago! So out you get from sobbing in the back of your mum's nasty Subaru, rusted from the tears you shed whilst mumbling 'if only I'd been born a gooner'. Rumour has it that the toot have managed o squeeze in 500 more seats at the new lane, they realised there was no need for a trophy room and the dusting would have been a problem. As you know the pain at the new lane, will be same as the old cowshed named the lane. 1961 and waiting. A manager who has gone all his managerial career with no trophies and 3 years at the toot with no trophies, a perfect match.

Hi Colin please give my best to the cats String and fellow and hope you enjoy whatever book your reading this evening.
Oh on the football front, congratulations mate 80 points with two games to go? Impressive stuff mate and you've improved each season under Poch and I certainly think the best is yet to come for you boys.
Whether you will actually become champions over the next few years I'm not sure as Chelsea and City will definitely be doing all they can to stop that happening quite probably United too but your going to be in contention mate of that I'm sure.

Good on you raver! I'm glad your happy. Just beat the country's most successful side In your last day at the lane. Its what football is all about. Enjoy it sunshine and let's hope it's not another 21 years till you feel that way again! A spade is a spade and your team has been great this year! I just hope we can give you a better rivalry next year like true rivals should. Have a good one pal 👍🏻.

Congratulations to Totenham on reaching 80 points in a season especially with 2 games to spare, impressive to say the least.
80+ points is where champions and real contenders hang out and absolutely no side can achieve that without having something about them.
We at Arsenal have two choices we can either pick up the gauntlet thrown down by Spurs and set about making ourselves better or we simply carry on as always living in the past and wait for Spurs to become mediocre again so we are better them because they've gone backwards and we've stood still, if they hang onto Poch we might have a long long wait on our hands though.

Gunner I really fear wenger will drag us down. I have no faith in the board and none in him. I think he is like a fish out of water and he's flapping about believing he's still capable of past glories. he's never been so far off and he will embarrass us next season and the fans are not behind him any more.

Agree1 Disagree0

14 May 2017 20:33:52
Steve I can't help but agree with you but that is the most likely scenario mate.
But there is little we can do but accept it for what it is and wait for things to change, I'm disappointed the club are going to let Gazidis go and keep Arsene not because I'm a fan of Gazidis but because it means nothing is likely to change anytime soon at Arsenal, no new staff no compromise on the old ways we are simply going to carry on as always, but what can we do mate?
Good luck to Spurs Chelsea Liverpool and all and any clubs who are ambitious enough to want to be the best that they can be and actively do all they can to achieve that.
I've never been much of a fan of wanting to be the best of a rubbish bunch I've always thought being the best of the best was what we should all aspire to be whether your Arsenal or Accrington Stanley.
It is what it is mate.

14 May 2017 20:37:00
Not too worried about Spurs finishing above us, although they deserve massive credit for a good season.

We have finished above them for past 21 seasons, so it had to happen some time.

It's like beating your mate in 21 successive games of pool, than he eventually beats you. It's going to happen.

It's how we respond from now that matters.
But it's not just a case of finishing above Spurs. Next season we also have to finish above City, Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool.

Derby to me a spade is a spade, I don't wear rose coloured specs and I am a realist. Thanks for you support, I have always said, I hope that everything I say I am wrong, when it is negative but I only say what I see. I can't help if some people see it differently. I just wish some of those that had a pop at some of us were right but sadly I fear they are not. We have to change our club drastically or else we will be the next has beens.

i actually hate how bad its gone steve because i see us with so much potential. but we need a rain check and missing out on top4 hopefully gets us that. if wenger is here for one more year i'd hate to think he's stays to be here for sanchez and ozil final years.
in the summer he should of gone balls deep for lacazette or auba and when lucas perez came in which i'm told he didn't even want him i was like ok here we do.
every cloud my friend i'm sure.

14 May 2017 17:07:42
Not the result I was hoping for. Was touting for the Hammers to strike against Liverpool today. Anyway as long as it is still mathematically possible for us to finish in the top 4 I will keep believing. I hope the players keep fighting till it's over. Not over until its impossible.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 May 2017 17:29:18
Well all we can control is our games and hope, very doubtful now either City or Liverpool will lose but we have to put ourselves in that position (need a 6-0 against Sunderland in case City do somehow lose against WBA) just in case.

Spursday Night football it looks like now and you are always playing catch up in the league then as a lot of games will be on Sunday/ Monday.

14 May 2017 18:35:39
How many times have we snatched the 4th place trophy or the North London trophy on the last day of the season in the past?
Liverpool at home ain't brilliant and an already relegated team from the north east pulled off a unlikely victory on the last day of last season to save our bacon so it's not only not impossible it's far from unprecedented for a team to fall at the final fence and allow Arsenal to trot over the line and sneak into the prize money even if it is several laps behind the race winners.

14 May 2017 19:29:20
If he starts sturridge no doubt in my mind they will win the game.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 May 2017 19:43:12
The odds are highly in Liverpool's favour Derby mate and good luck to them they worked hard to put those odds in their own favour.
But it's far from unheard of for Arsenal to get lucky else where in the last game ( PSG this season in the champions league is another good example) and sneak other the line by default plus we are playing Everton who wouldn't exactly be disappointed to lose to us if it denied Liverpool champions league football I'm sure :-)

Looks like all over for top4 Liverpool 4 nil up on West Ham, can only see them winning against Middlesbrough.

Will struggle to attract any top level players now and have the UEFA cup to deal with next season which is a lot of games, and your always playing catch up in the league playing Thursday then Sunday alot.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 May 2017 16:14:15
Such a shame Ryan because in previous summers so many top level players have been queuing up to join us, I think we will struggle to attract the likes of Higuain and Benzema this summer mate :-) .
I think most players would rather have a Europa league winners might be capable of winning with us rather than the fictitious last 16 champions league participants medal we invented to go along with our very own 4th place title.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 May 2017 16:26:40
Sorry mate but top 4 was over weeks and weeks ago. We've been poor as and will ultimately get exactly what we deserve.

The only positive maybe we at least give Chelsea a game at Wembley.

Agree1 Disagree0

14 May 2017 16:35:07
I don't Think Players like Higuain and Benzema were ever realistic for us to get. Players like Mahrez are more likely to be our best level now, I can't see players Lacazette joining without Champions league now either. Anyway on the brighter side yes the Uefa cup is throphy we can actually realistically win, but it can stretch the squad somewhat with so many games.

Will this be the point for Wenger to leave I hope so, time to start a fresh bring a young manager in with more fire in his belly.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 May 2017 17:34:02
Ryan if I thought Arsene was leaving I'd be bothered about missing it out on top 4 but because I'm convinced he's staying I can't see as it makes much difference either way, Europa mediocrity is as good as Champions league mediocrity to me the same with a non title changeling 5th compared to a non title changeling 2nd what's the difference? Your either competitive or an also ran and mediocrity tastes the same which ever size cup you serve it up in, rather bland and unenjoyable.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 May 2017 18:01:01
Start of a slippery slide if wenger stays, I said at the start of this season all the challenging teams at the top end of the league have better managers than us and its turned out that way. It will be worse next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 May 2017 18:02:13
Gunner62 -- Yeah you look to be right in that Wenger is staying, we were only ever making up the numbers in the champions league anyway. Being in the Europa may do us some good in helping keeping us in a more competitive mindset for longer in the season as it trophy we would have a half decent chance of winning as that is our level at present (Although it is never a gimme) . The problem is now regardless of who the manager is top players want champions league as a pre-requisite before they will even consider joining you these days. So can we actually get players that will improve what we already have, doubtful.

For me the board need to grow a pair show some ambition and say look thanks for the memories Wenger but it's time for change as we are stagnating and going into a slow downward spiral without a new injection talent in manger, coaching and players.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 May 2017 18:21:36
Ryan mate the way I see it is it doesn't really matter if we sign Ranaldo or Andreas Townsend the whole mentality within the club is just not set up for being competitive over a season, what difference have Cech Sanchez Ozil made to us in terms of title challenging? They should have made a huge difference but they haven't as we are as far away from 80 + points as we were before they arrived.
You can put the most expensive tyres and widest wheels on the market plus a state of the art sound system in your car but if the engine doesn't run properly you ain't going to get very far, no matter how many go faster stripes you put on the side.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 May 2017 18:34:01
When its confirmed we are not in top4 I see a late change. Accept our terms or no contract arsene. Psg could be managerless if monaco win the league.

I think europa league will spark change.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 May 2017 18:36:39
Gunner62 well then that all points to Wenger and his coaching team being unable to motivate and get the best of the players we have on a consistent enough basis. Like you say on a player level we should be doing much better, but as you can see many a game this season the drive, leadership and motivation is lacking in too many players. Talent is nothing without the mentality to go with it. We seem like a fair weather team, decent when the pressure is off but when applied we just wilt away under any serious pressure.

Things have to change and change now otherwise we will be in a slow downward spiral that we will not be able to stop.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 May 2017 19:18:33
Ryan to me Arsene has gone from a revolutionary to dictator who cannot let go of power and refuses to compromise with anyone on anything.
The best leaders i can remember not only knew but accept when their time is up and history remembers them more kindly than the ones who refuse to let go and in the end have to be forced out of power.
No one no matter how intelligent or brilliant has a monopoly on being right all the time and once someone starts being incapable of listening to anyone but themselves that person is usually past being quite as intelligent or brilliant as they once were.

Obviously confidence is much higher than before but i must say this formation suits us really well. We look much more solid and defenders seem to have so much more time on the ball. Other than the spurs game where i think we thought we were beaten before a ball was kicked, in each game and many tough games to boot we looked comfortable with plenty of bodies back when defending. The formation has allowed our wing backs to simplify their game to hug the line and support defensively and offensively. Its given the ox a real position and with the imminent arrival of kolasenic we seem to have real depth on both flanks. Its also simplified ramsey and xhakas roles and allowed them to both play to their strengths. With santi, elneny and coq to come in its not too weak in cm either. Next sanchez and ozil in the 2 link beautifully, can go wide, come back and get the ball or burst forward past the cf without the worry of being exposed . I really hope they stay as they may get more numbers next season in this style of play. Even in cf despite girouds lack of pace or mobility, he is good on getting on the end of crosses and we seem to be getting lots more in from the maurading wbs. In recent games I've seen 5 or 6 in the box ready to finish!

We have just played two teams who were not that wound up for different reasons. It wasnt that great at spuds and as gunner says it poses more questions than answers. It was done out of panic, after watching other teams do it far earlier. I've always said and he proves me right week after week, wenger is reactive no pro active. he's past his sell by date years ago.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 May 2017 15:50:30
Like today we can't complain, west ham on the beach, we've had it ourselves last few games, misleading using end of season games for guides.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 May 2017 16:03:46
Yes a back 3 does suit us more I feel simply because our fullback's are not great at defending anyway so having three 3 CB's allows them more freedom to get forward and give us that width, while having the insurance of 3 CB's staying back to cover the counter rather than 2. The CB's still need to work well as unit and move as one with good communication but defensively it can actually be more solid than a flat back 4. In most games we play we have the vast majority of possession against a deep laying compact defences so having that extra width is vital to drag defenders out of position to create chances.

Weather Wenger keeps with it is another issue, it does more in reaction rather than being a proactive decision.

Great away trip yesterday but today I feel I must cheat on my beloved Arsenal and support another team

3pm at Coleshill Town- Challenge Cup Final- Linden Athletic v Solihull.

Thanks guys, just back

Linden conceded a pen in 2nd half of extra time and then, when they threw the kitchen sink seeking the equaliser they hit the crossbar and then Solihull broke away and got a clincher.

Nit result I wanted but to be fair Solihull edged it overall.

Son played well, one really good stop and got his fingers to the penalty but result was fair.

Is Remy still available?

Failing that:

Keeper to replace Ospina
Lacazette
Ben Gibson
Mahrez - we need a new penalty taker
Barkley
Carvalho- changed my mind. We need a beast in midfield.
Zaha or Gnarby
Kolasinac

Plus a few promotions from the young talent pool.

A bit of speed, fit and EPL experience. Not the grandest of list but hopefully effective which is key and gell with the current squad.

In the papers today saying Ivan Gazidaz may well be leaving the club soon after losing this so called power battle with arsene. I saw ed002 say he was miffed. Any chance you could share if he looks to be leaving?

Everyone else I dunno what to make of this. I find him to be pretty useless so that hand I'm happy if true but then again if he's trying to bring something new to the table like s director of football and he's stood up to arsene does that make it a bad thing he's wanting to leave due to arsene being stubborn in his ways. Obviously I'm just speculating.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Gazidis will likely have the opportunity to take up a role in the US (it is between him and someone else). He was planning and wants change at Arsenal but that is not looking likely. I am not aware of any decision just yet.}

14 May 2017 10:36:47
Not good news for Arsenal, although Gazidis hasn't been exactly outstandingly brilliant for us and in fairness I doubt we will even notice he's gone but it does mean change is as far away as ever and we are set to carry on as always.
Disappointing to say the least.

I don't think I've heard Conte rubbish or criticise any other club all season but instead he has concentrated on Chelsea and doing his own job 100%.
Exactly the same with Ranieri last season at Leicester if memory serves me right.
I don't think I've heard Poch say anything about another club in a derogatory way either come to that.
Although Klopp had a dig at Southampton during the week I haven't heard him put down others to often either plus Keoman and Pep both seem to concentrate on thier own jobs and trams rather than look for excuses.
Good to see those who have improved thier clubs the most have simply got on with the job they are employed to do rather than put down others in an attempt to mask thier own failings over the season.
I hope this trend continues as I like to see people who take responsibility for thier own results do well.

Excellent performance and result against Stoke, depsite the usual physical onslaught. Hopefully Sanchez's thigh injury is a dead leg opposed to a muscular problem. Much as I suggested, Man City's run in left little hope of us overtaking them in a the quest for a top four finish and now we wait to see if West Ham, having ended the toot's false hopes of a first title in approaching 60 years, can take something off Liverpool this afternoon.

Presumably you realise that Arsenal won the title twice at the dump you call the lane, that's as many titles as the toot have ever won! You do realise that Arsene Wenger has won the title more times than the toot! As you well know the pain at the lane just goes on.1961, yes 1961.
