Reports from Spain suggesting benzema has been offered to arsenal for a 'cut price 20m' to fund a deal for Suarez which Liverpool would want upwards of £50m for.

Thoughts?

I wish but believe it if and when, sorry to be sceptical but Higuain saga did for me

Agree0 Disagree0

I am not convinced by Benzema, I had similar feelings when we were chasing Higuain. However, when I heard about Ozil, I was convinced he would be a success. I would still love to sign Suarez, but cannot see Liverpool selling him to us. A fit, motivated Bendtner would provide good back up for Giroud. Whether it is possible to get Bendtner fit & motivated is another question. His two goals against Italy and the playing time in the World Cup qualifiers should help.

During the summer transfer window I was on the WENGER OUT bandwagon and some of the guys here told "Be carefull what you wish for " but after seeing the clueless " CHOSEN ONE " for manchester, now I have understood you should always be carefull what you wish for.IN ARSENE I ONCE TRUST

For me Wenger has proven that with a quality squad he has the capability of winning major trophys, the hardest one being the league. I know it's been 8 years which understandably has led many to lose faith.
The question for me was had he let his project of not wanting to spend big get in the way of having the players needed to be sucsessful. As we have seen this window and hopefully the next, that when he said "if I believe a player is with 30m (or 42.5) and we have the money then I would spend it." That he is willing to. The last several years have been financially very tight, and with other clubs being heavily backed during this time it has made it doubly harder.
Wenger is not without criticism, certain players brought who were not good enough, and signings that we could of afforded that would have strengthened us that were not bought in.
BUT here we are now. Having financially turned a corner, with money available and sponsorship deals being improved over the next few years we now are in a good place. We have money, and the money we have is ours. I take great pride in the fact we're not a fat Russians play thing. Or part of a sheiks conglomerate.
Many fans don't really care as long as their club is winning. Many others believe it's not possible without it. I disagree, and thankfully for me, our manager not only agrees, but has had the ability to to get us to the stage where we can buy a zil (I love spelling his name on this website) with further quality investment on it's way.
So what can Wenger achieve with quality players? Hopefully the same as last time he had quality players.
Wenger is the 21st century Herbert Chapman. His achievements will not be fully appreciated until long after he has left our great club.
I don't just thank him for the last 17 years, but for the next 100.
Sorry for the length, ohh Sailor :-)

The signings of Ozil and Flamini have helped the 'Wenger' cause immensely. I too was questioning Wenger. I am still extremely concerned at our continuing injury problems, caused by poor conditioning and the lack of a large enough quality squad to enable the necessary rotation to avoid injury. We should start getting our injured players back soon, but there are a few first team players that have played too many matches, without rest. I believe we need at least two quality signings in the January window, a 4th centre back & a striker.

Robbie to be fair. our squad has depth in all position except the strikers position.

having too many players also means they get frustrated. look at verm ( wants to play or leave)

our team has the right balance. and who would have thought adding another CAM would be that balance.

for me its purely the fact that his drive and belief also have taken an impact on the squad.

looking back at his first interview he was asked. do you think Arsenal can win the league. he did not even hesitate. "yes"

any other player in the past years would say. "we believe we are one of the best teams in the country".

with ozil it was simple. i'm here to win and nothing less. and you can see the team playing for him at times. to be as good as him and to prove their worth. let's hope its our year.

Lakerville.
We have already suffered many injuries this season, taking us to the brink against WBA. I am particularly concerned about our centre backs & feel we need to give Vermaelen some game time, which would relieve the risk of injury to the current pairing and keep Vermaelen happy. We also need to rest Flamini at some stage, although a suspension is likely. Giroud has also played many games and could do with a rest. The problem is his deputy is Bendtner, who needs games & a change in attitude! So I reiterate we need a 4th CB & a striker. With the injured players starting to return we have good cover in the other positions. One of the strengths of SAF at Man U, was that he seldom played the same team consecutively, resting players by rotating them. Our problem is either the replacements are not as good as the player they replace or Wenger simply likes to play the same team, which tends to create a problem as the season gets toward November & tiredness/injury comes into play.

Always trusted wenger, he did an amazing job keeping us in the top 4 whilst we paid off our stadium. No other manager in the world would of been able to of done what he did, and anyone who criticizes him are deluded.

So I understand the Benzema love fest and all, but would he is going to take our attack up a level the way Ozil and Flamini (to an extent) have so far?

Dont get me wrong, I think Benzema is classy on his day and would have been a good Wenger type of buy. But with Giroud adapting well to this league and Podolski's robust self, that's two forwards who need to play week in week out to produce the goods.

If we are still looking for an extra striker then it should be someone in the Ian Wright mould. Preferbly a younger kid along with Zouma and then expect more business in the summer.

Who would be better for us: Gundogan or Lars Bender?
