The ozil debate....cant call him world class,to be world class you have to be able to produce in the big games and when your under pressure or behind ,you have to step up to the plate and produce a bit of magic...i havnt seen ozil do that in a red jersey...hope i'm proved wrong on sat...hope he not bullied out of the game and goes missing like he does against the big teams.there no doubt he has the class, but he doesn.t do it ,week in week out.wouldnt lace the ice mans boots.

I think if Ozil got a goal, an assist as well as providing rounds of tea and biscuits for all fans we would be happy with his performance.

If the Arsenal players put away the chances created he would already be close to breaking Fabregas' assist record.

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Sep 2015 00:22:05
Agree with that.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - You can't be world class unless you can 'produce a bit of magic'? That's just preposterous, there's not many defenders will 'produce a bit of magic'.}

15 Sep 2015 08:06:56
i just think cazorla is the better player. de bruynes ball to navas standard stuff but if ozil does it we would be all jizzing. ozil takes a corner he's the only guy we say omg he crossed it onto a head. funny old game. looking forward to seeing him versus chelsea

In 2015, Özil's created more chances than any other player in the league.

In his last 52 prem games, he's created 155 chances, almost 3 per game.

At the end of the day, he's just become a scapegoat and it's crazy.

I'm pretty sure, he could singlehandedley win us the Prem. the champions league, the FA cup and the super cup and people would moan he didn't win us the Capital one cup.

Yes, he had a poor start, but he's drastically improved since then.
Özil's never been a player to grab you 10-15 goal a season.
He's always been about the assist.

When you're at Madrid, feeding Ronaldo and Benzema, you're almost guaranteed an assist a game.

When you're at Arsenal, feeding Giroud and Walcott, you've got toprah they're wearing their shooting boots.

Coz winning motm in a World Cup final is just a regular occurrence....

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I can't believe anyone can suggest he doesn't produce pieces of magic anyway! I often wonder if being German is a handicap, because the media are so busy fawning over Spanish players while calling Germans functional and referring to the war, they never big up German players. Ozil produces passes and little touches of skill that very few other players could do, they are regularly far too good for his team mates, which is a problem. When he plays with better players, like he did at Madrid and does for Germany, then he can be the difference maker. Sadly in England, we only like players if they can run very fast and are big and strong.}

Derby,

You genuinely don't have a clue mate. Jeez.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Sep 2015 09:51:14
Derby your post is basically saying you can't wait for Ozil to fail against Chelsea. In my honest opinion I have never known such a shocking supporter of this club than you fella.

Appalling.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Sep 2015 12:30:22
So Derby is City win the title that means Ozil isn't an amazing player does it? What a nonsense reply.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Sep 2015 13:03:14
didnt say that i just want to see him stoner. id be happy with hhim if he scores and wins man of the match and people are going wow. no better place to do it than at the bridge and joses record mate.

did not mean it like that at all bro, i think itl be a draw anyway

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Sep 2015 16:22:36
lemon he said i don't have a clue. ozil wasnt mentioned in that post. when de bruyne signed i purely said well done city on the league title my friend

Ed - love it:

{Ed001's Note - now that is the thing. Ozil does things nobody else sees, including large numbers of fans. He is quality.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - It is true though, they don't appreciate him because they just don't see what he brings. Makalele suffered in a similar way until he left Real Madrid and they fell apart without him. Suddenly all the pundits were pointing out how great he was. Ozil is the same, because the pundits don't have the intelligence to see what he does and point it out, most football fans don't see it. Not all their fault, as a large portion of his work is happening off camera.}

14 Sep 2015 20:28:31
Opinions guys opinions, what are we here for.

Agree0 Disagree1

14 Sep 2015 20:46:19
For me until we get players as good as what ozil had around him at Madrid you won't see the best of him. Coupled with the fact la liga is no where near as physical or has as many quality teams. I'm happy with ozil and as much of a moaning s..t you are Steve I like a lot of what you say

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Sep 2015 20:59:09
The view from the cheap seats its what it is - cheap.

But let's face it if we didn't have cheap seats the place would be empty and we would be lacking in atmosphere. So thanks for that at least Steve ;-))

For me, Ozil is an absolutely fantastic football player and a great asset to our team. I would have never have said this last year but over time keeping him over Cesc Fabulous (one of my all time fav gunners btw) is going to turn out be a masterstroke. Well played Boss Wenger, well played!

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Sep 2015 21:27:01
Totally agree with ED001.
Sanchez Saurez are in ya face brilliant and its not difficult to see what they bring to their team, Le Coq is well under valued by many dispute the massive impact he's had on our team in under a year because he is simply rather than spectacularly brilliant.

14 Sep 2015 21:43:43

Red never take what I say seriously in its entirety, I do mean what I say, but I like to spice it up a bit now and then. 90% of what I say is bull poo, but 10% right is bloody good on here.

I said some months ago how Watching Bergkamp in his first few games he looked like he couldn't pass to an Arsenal player if he tried, that was because he was putting the ball in to places our player's should have been, but we were still breaking out of our George Graham era of pragmatic don't risk being too far up the pitch football.
As soon as our attacker's got used to it you could see how far ahead Bergkamp was, I'm sure at some point we'll start seeing that with Ozil, he is class

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Sep 2015 08:08:40
bergkamp scored double figures in his first 5 seasons. a class above ozil i'm afraid

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Sep 2015 23:05:56
I don't mean to comapare them like that Derby, but the way they both see the game is a on another level to most player's around them.
And slightly off point but Bergkamp is quite easily the best player I've seen in an Arsenal shirt, all that flair but was nasty enough not to get bullied

14 Sep 2015 20:07:47
steve.r,

A question for you, who are these other disgruntled fans you speak of that are bubbling up underneath the surface.

Are you able to name them both or have they sworn you to secrecy? ;-)

The wink was intended to indicate a little leg pulling steve, I understand there are those that are not happy.

I guess my picture of you as a multiple rollover euro millions winner sitting in your £15 million pound designer mansion showing people your state of the art Villeroy and Bosh bathroom and moaning that the bidet won't heat up your dinner otherwise it would be perfect is a little wide of the mark too. ;-)

People who are hoping for Ozil to add goals to his game forget it , that isn't what he is ir was about , that isn't his game and never will be, if Ozil was scoring highly in Spain he would have cost us .......................well he wouldn't have becaus eA wouldn't have considered it

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Sep 2015 19:42:24
Love the player he is bambam but he could quite easily bring 10 goals in a season if he was just slightly sellfish, I think the goals will come with him he just needs to pick his moments.

But with the chances this guy makes someone else should be able to pick up the burden surely

Class on grass

Check out the new Olivier Giroud - One Touch video guys, shows you what he brings to the team. Too bad he doesn't have any pace..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Sep 2015 18:46:14
Giroud pace isn't the problem. Giroud always has chances in game even when he comes on as a sub. The biggest problem Giroud has once he misses a chance it affects his other chances.

If he sticks away every guilt edge and about 1/3 of his half chance he can easily be one of the top scorers in the leauge. If he misses one he will miss the second and the third. His lack of pace doesn't worry me its his mentality.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Sep 2015 19:27:53
Hardly any strikers better than him in the league currently except aguero n maybe Rooney depending on his form..I think he's better than even Costa who everyone seems to think is great..

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - misses too many chances for me Wesley, but he does give 100% which is certainly in his favour mate..

14 Sep 2015 20:25:12
Someone likened Giroud to Hesky in negative terms, Hesky didn't play at such a high level so long for no reason and obviously that reason wasn't his scoring record.
Olly isn't going to score the goals that win a title or anything like it on his own but he can if needed play a big part in a title challenge where the goals are spread.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Sep 2015 18:09:45
I play football.. not a proffesional though.. and i got to say the most difficult thing to have is to see that pass which nobody else on the field Can! Which is why i love watching Mesut Ozil play! Not every pass will come off but its because of players like him we come to watch football! COYG😀

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - now that is the thing. Ozil does things nobody else sees, including large numbers of fans. He is quality.}

14 Sep 2015 19:00:48

Saw that earlier online it made me laugh

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - good one that D16..

14 Sep 2015 19:11:13
Mesut does have to check and delay passes at times because others just aren't on his metal football level, that's not being derogatory to our other players its just a fact.
Adapting his natural game to fit in with us has taken time and is an ongoing process that is getting better and better every month that passes, the absolute best of Mesut Ozil is yet to come I just hope we're lucky enough to still have him in an Arsenal shirt when it does

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Sep 2015 21:06:26
Great comment gunner, I saw something very similar a couple of years ago when Beckham went to the US to play. Looked like he wasn't doing anything but playing safe balls out to the side, Arteta like. Once Robbie Keane showed up it was game on, plus the team lifted its quality to catch with him and as a result few trophies.

Passers are a different breed than the Ronaldo's and Bales of the world.

Dags

I saw your post saying

" saying let's or laugh at Chelsea "

Ha ha ha

Not too sure I would be jumping on your band wagon just yet , they are due to find some form very soon , class is permanent as they say.

Wednesday we travel miles for an away fixture and Chelsea stay in London and then we have a lunchtime kick off against ......yes Chelsea , ................the perfect time for Chelsea to find their form and win comfortably against us. Football is a funny old game as you know.

For once I agree with Wenger and agree that this fixture should be on the Sunday to even things out or we play on Tuesday.

Time will tell ...........................but I wouldn't be laughing at Chelsea just yet mate

Moments of satisfaction in football are very brief Banbury . So let's keep laughing until the weekend

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Sep 2015 18:57:07
Ubistonk, its got nothing to do with my thoughts personally, a draw would be disappointing for chelski because they will not win the league this year. For us it would be another failure so early on in the season, that we will be a step closer to not winning the league before the end of september. Plus I was not just on about me, it was about more fuel for the disgruntled fans getting restless and bubbling up, that's why it will be disappointing.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Sep 2015 20:26:37
Bambam,

I always take 1 game at a time, so Chelsea losing to Everton was worth a "let's all laugh at Chelsea" quote, lol.

Will be very happy with a point at The Bridge.

Ps, good shout for your 2-0 prediction vs Stoke mate.

That's an absolute steel for gala if so

He is rubbish mate. And he was on £100k per week.

Agree0 Disagree1

14 Sep 2015 18:36:09
Yes it was 1.8 m

And UG Podolski is far from rubbish

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Sep 2015 19:03:55
You are right Banbury, he is much worse than that. How did he get on at Inter again? You know that joke club in that joke league? Yeah that's right, he ended up on the bench with all those other terrific players who fill the Inter bench. A players value is determined by how much the market is willing to pay for him. If we could have got more money for him we would have. But nobody decent wanted him, because he is completely washed up and if he doesn't score a goal he offers nothing to a game of football. Therefore his market value is close to zero.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Sep 2015 19:09:25
Podolski has one of the best left foots in the world. He is a world class finisher. can't tackle, can't pass, didn't work hard enough. Funny haven't we been here before.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Sep 2015 19:35:46
Couldn't believe my eyes when I read that's all he cost.

Like you say...he has a brute of a left peg, plenty wonder goals.
Well worth the 1.8m U.G, that guy saved our ass' on more than one occasion

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - market forces determine the price Je, his value is £1.8m because no one would pay more for him mate..

14 Sep 2015 13:08:58
If we were scoring from 30% of the chancee Ozil creates - would you be moaning about him?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

14 Sep 2015 15:08:37
If is a word with no answer. If wenger had bought a worldy striker, if ozil scored more goals, if ozil tackled, if walcott was a striker, if we got more payers in the box you can go on. If the answer to you question is yes. Do we sack wenger for wasting his talent and not buying a striker, do we sell because we are wasting his talent or do we drop him to the bench because we are wasting his talent, do we tell giroud stop being so poor at finishing, be world class or is the original question un aswerable. IF.

14 Sep 2015 16:54:33
But maybe Steve

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Sep 2015 17:08:03
What is the point of slating Ozil? He's doing his part. His game depends on creating chances, he is still doing it. He wasn't scoring, or tackling or doing his defensive stuff in Real, Was he? Why are we expecting those now? Crazy.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I am with you, I absolutely love what Ozil brings to a team, he is top class.}

14 Sep 2015 18:08:26
Theres a very good reason for slating Mesut today, its Girouds Day off :-)
Mesuts class end of why people don't want to see it is beyond me.
