Can't help but laugh at at the fact that red nose got rid of pogba he's exactly what they need haha! Would love to see him in an arsenal shirt great young talent.

SM1996

Believable10 Unbelievable0

Like we got rid of the dutchman?

Agree0 Disagree0

Van d***head was 29 and we got 20 odd mil for him. Pogba left for peanuts and is one of the hottest prospects in Europe. So different circumstances.

So who would support or want a standing area?

There's a family enclosure and plenty of seating so why not convert the North Bank lower to a properly controlled and managed standing area?

Right no you are forced to sit and the 'customers' get upset as soon as your bum leaves your seat if you get excited or passionate. Your only other choice is not to go to games.

Vote agree if you'd like the option to stand and disagree if you do not want any standing options

Believable11 Unbelievable2

Great post, I was only talking about this today. I think it would be a great idea to have the lower tier on the north bank converted to a standing area.
I hope it happens.

Agree0 Disagree0

It won't happen, and let's not forget we got rid of standing for some very good reasons, and giving the family orientation for the club this will never happen
You are welcome to stand up during match of the day though if that helps

{Ed027's Note - Fulham are looking at Ambroieta, first team football good swing it, Italians also lurking, we asked in Jan, don't know about no, interest is what I hear, must not want him that much

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Personally I think we should promote Miquel as 4th choice. Or bring someone else who is young but capable

Apparently they have signed him.

Some discussion today about Benteke and Lukaku, more so Benteke as a possible striker for us.

Just my opinion but we need the kind of quality striker who is going to score goals not just in the League but also the UCL if and when we get into the top four. That means against the likes of the top German, Italian and Spanish teams.

Not sure if many know or really how relevant but neither Benteke who has the most league goals of the two nor Lukaku have scored against us, Citeh, Chelski, Utd or the spurs this season.

So I'm hoping we aim a little higher if I'm honest.

Spot on. It's like when we were linked with Rodellega afew years back! Lukaku will never happen and Benteke won't work in our set up. V. Persie worked well for us so a striker in his mold, such as Lewandowski, Higuain or Soldado would be perfect imo. We already have a target man in Giroud.

Any news on rene adler to Arsenal? Been watching the bundesliga for a while now and I've always thought he's looked good and if the reports of a £5m asking price are true it'd be a steal!

Would've been even more of a steal had we got him last year when he was free!

I have to take off my hat to Ramsey! having returned from his horrendous injury, he had the majority of the Emirates on his back whilst he was playing out of position on the wings! However having come back into the middle of the park I really do see him as a key asset for the club. Fans talk about Arsenal players not showing passion, this kid will give 100% every minute he gets.

Believable24 Unbelievable3

Completely agree, he has turned in some really controlled mature performances, and has been his ass off. well done to him.

1404

Agree10 Disagree0

I have to agree, was one of his biggest critics this seasons but he has flourished the last few games, chases everything and never gives up, just has to be a tad quicker decision making as he slows down play a bit

Nice to read these posts after all the flak he's had from some gooners. Maybe they'd like us to take him back. Happy to oblige.

Really love stats sometimes, EPL Top goalscorers table shows how our top goalscorers have really not been too bad.

Dzeko is Citehs top scorer on 12, level with Cazorla and only one more than Theo and Giroud, they do not have another player on 11+ goals.

Man Utds top scorer is of course RVP, but next is Rooney who plays up front most games and has the same amount as Cazorla and 1 more than Theo and Giroud.

Lampard is Chelskis top scorer apart from BA who scored most of his for Newcastle.

Spuds don't have a striker anywhere near, Monkey boy is their top scorer.

Not the greatest post, but just thought this was interesting that's all.

Cazorla Arsenal 12
Dzeko Man City 12
Lampard Chelsea 12
Rooney Manchester United 12
Fellaini Everton 11
Giroud Arsenal 11
Walcott Arsenal 11

337

Believable11 Unbelievable4

And non of giroud, walcott and cazorla have scored pens.

Agree8 Disagree1

How does someone disagree with stats?

Agree9 Disagree2

Monkey boy may not be a striker, but is cazorla?

Contradicted yourself there fella.
By the way, spurs don't have a striker anywhere near?
Did you forget Defoe on 10 goals and missing half of the season.
So that puts 'monkey boy' ahead, on goals, than your best MF and Defoe 1 behind your best striker.

So, your point is??

Agree3 Disagree10

What about Defoe 10.
Spuds don't have a striker anywhere near!

Agree3 Disagree0

We scored 74 in the whole of last season and 72 the season before both with RVP. This season we are already at 64 with 6 games left. That shows we have basically been less reliant on one striker who spent most of his career injured.

Agree1 Disagree2

Where are you in the league. Where will your best players be playing next season. Oh yea! That's it! Love a bit of 'you blew it again St Totteringham Day' celebration.

337,

Mate, do you use that everywhere or just on here? Lol.

Stoner

Agree1 Disagree0

Hackney, one thing is for sure, our best players won't be playing in Manchester like your will.
By the way, bring it large with all this 'look up' and 'where are you in the table' nonsense.
Enjoy it while you can, before you are behind us in the table for another 9 months. Then the men in black step in again and we will fall behind you.

One man team you lot, or should I say 3 man team. Players 12, 13 & 14.

xxx {Ed027's Note - Enjoy while we can lol, it's getting boring at least now you challenge us then we can just come back and blow you out the water, it feels better, when was the last time you finished above us?

Agree1 Disagree0

Chomp chomp.

Agree1 Disagree0

You are in front this season because a Lino felt sorry for you.
You finished above us last season because ol twitchy lost the plot (like he is at QPR) and an ex spurs keeper threw it in 3 times when you played west brom.
If you need outside influence and not your football skills to finish above spurs then fair play to ya.
Maybe if you had as much luck in cup competitions, then you might if also had a trophy and your best players wouldn't need to leave to get medals.
That's football I suppose.
Good luck on your run in this season xxx {Ed027's Note - ex spurs Gk was a spurs fan lol, and the only reason we can tie up our season is because we smell blood or food poisoning

Agree0 Disagree0

Stoner, only on here in extreme circumstances, a tribute to you for a top phrase!

337

Agree0 Disagree0

You poor, deluded spurs make me laugh. You come on our page giving it large and you actually think you might seriously challenge our domination over you. As sure as night follows day we will finish anove you as we invariably have since AVB was knee high to a grasshopper. Your pathetic excuse for a club have only ever won 2 league titles and that says it all really. Just compare our repective symbols. A cannon, which is synonymous with battle and power versus a chicken on a beachball!

CECEGUaW

Agree0 Disagree0

Not quite sure how 8 years without a trophy is pure domination!

Agree0 Disagree0

Gotta love ed027

Agree0 Disagree0

You got far last year because your main player (Van der Vaart) handballed majority of his goals. Did you also train Adebayor to do a little skip before he takes a penalty? Kings of London (at the minute)

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok so you have won the League Cup since our last trophy but really is that all you have to come back with - the old "8 trophyless years" riposte? Our trophy roster is immeasurably more illustrious than yours so deal with it and, while we are at it. how about unbroken ECL qualification since 1997. Remind me how many times spurs have been in it? Even your kit manufacturer stinks - Under Armour!

Mind the Gap because it's going to grow. Enjoy Europa League (again) next year.

CECEGUaEW

Agree0 Disagree0

Like the way quite a good post has been ruined. I think we were discussing that we have scored as many goals without Judas but that we have shared it around a bit more. A good thing I think, but it would be nice to have one main man who is genuine world class.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry Mr. Anonymous but it was the Spud person "xxx" who changed the tone and content and I couldn't let him dig us out without putting him in his place. We have a world class striker in Podolski who will, if he stays injury-free next season, score goals for fun.

CECEGUaW

Agree0 Disagree0

As a response to the critisizing of the linesman if he had disallowed pooldki's goal the game would of ended 2-1 to Arsenal, we would still be infront of Totenham. The ref didn't have to listen to the linesmen but he did, and quite frankly giroud was denied a goal scoring chance it was the right decision. Looking forward to Everton can't wait to be 4 points in front of Totenham

I know this is not kinda arsenal related but did anyone see that goal by Demba Ba in the FA cup match? That was awesome, for a guy supposedly with 'Diaby legs' (kikiki) he sure ain't pulling any muscles. He pulled that goal out of his arse, now I do wonder if we had bought him how many games he would have saved us doing something like that.

What we need to do is go for Benteke, I was looking at the top scorers list and he's rite up there and he's playing for Aston villa (shows his quality). He's already proved in the Epl, he's fast, cheap, nimble, got eye for goal good in the air, young and cheap (had to repeat it, sorry). Forget falcao or jovetic or any other striker for that matter. Benteke, Benteke, Benteke.

Please AW buy this player and I will not ask for anyone else this summer, well except a DM that's it. Rest of the squad is good. And please get rid of Gervinho and Walcot, well sorry to say it but they hol us back, I don't care what anyone else thinks but I really hope they go this summer. They are too inconsistent to be in our squad.

Believable1 Unbelievable14

I'd rather Lukaku?

Agree4 Disagree1

Benteke won't be cheap, he cost aston villa 7 million so they will be looking to get at least 15 or so for him with the way he has preformed this season

Agree5 Disagree1

Lukaku made the wrong choice joining Chelsea over us however he is looking very good.

Benteke does look fantastic, but is he much better than Giroud? I think we need a 'World Class' striker, we have prospects in our reserves who can probably do a very good back up job but we need that real world class goal machine.

I must say I was getting excited by the Gotze rumours even though I know in reality he's likely not to join Arsenal as he is a big Barca admirer. I'm a big fan of dude, but at the same time I'm very excited with 4/5 of our youth players coming through especially Gnabry, Eisfeld & Olssen (spelling). Then there's this Zelalem kid everybody is raving about, not really seen him as he has just only been able to play. Akpom & Aneke can also get a look in next season maybe. Would like you're guys opinion on the youth players I mentioned.

Usmanov Jnr.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Gotze also happens to be an Arsenal Fan. Publically stated that there are only 2 clubs he would like to join. Arsenal and Barca. Wenger likes gotze and always says that if top top quality becomes available then the money is there. So don't write it off completely but also don't get your hopes either

Agree4 Disagree3

Loan possibilities or carling cup run at best. we won't see them for another 2-3 years

besides gnabry and bellerin, I think the others need a lot of physical work. they are just not strong enough to play in the epl.

Everton tomorrow - peoples thoughts on what the final score will be?

I am going for a 1-0 home win with ramsey to score.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Won't be easy with a tight scoreline but I think we'll just win.

Agree2 Disagree0

Its a big game and 3 points in this game and at Fulham on Staurday will really put massive pressure on Spurs to win their games in hand with them then going 7 points behind us before their next game on Sunday.

These 2 games are crucial I think to our hopes of a top 4. It will be tough as Everton will set out to frustrate sit deep with 2 DM's no doubt to try a snatch a counter attack goal or one from a free kick or corner, usual situation for us.

It's a make a break game for them aswell as If we beat them it will be very hard for Everton to get back in the mix for top 4 then also.

Agree3 Disagree0

Nah, we will win comfotably 3-0, got money on it.

I can see Goetze being this year's Hazard. Arsenal fans getting their hopes up when in reality he is beyond us now. The time to sign him was last year but now teams like Man City and Madrid will blow us out of the water with the wages they will offer. I would be deliriously happy if we did sign him but I refuse to get my hopes up since the chances are very slim. Ed do you agree with me or do you think we're in with a shot of finally getting the player Wenger has been after for years?

I think Wenger does well with what he has. if only he bought some really good players or the clubs allowed him to. whoever is to blame, we would not be fighting for the same spot every year.

Ox, Jenks, Gibbs, Nacho, Cazorla, Poldi, Verm, Koser, Arteta, for me are the main players.

ramsey seems to be playing better game after game and mertesacker is 50-50 but I rather we keep him than djourou. Giroud is a fantastic striker to have off the bench and start low key games.

Gervinho for me needs to be sold and if galatasaray want him he can go. saying that he has been one of 3 players who consistently takes on their man. Wilshere and ox being the others.

Walcott is a conundrum. I feel liverpool maybe our best bet. boyhood club and he may get the central role if suarez decides to pack his bags.

Possible make weight in Reina negotiations? who knows. but surely wenger can't keep tolerating his inconsistencies.

Gnabry, eisfeld, Bellerin, Miyachi for me need loan time. at EPL clubs. hopefully miyachi recovers.

Diaby has run out of time. but let him recover at arsenal.

Im looking forward to Gotze. because I actually believe we are very close to getting him. and it looks like poldi will finally start up to.

Believable1 Unbelievable5

Tottally agree Wenger picks out some real gems, but the boarded uses this to make profits.

Cesc: In - £500k Out - £25m
Toure: In - £1m Out - £14m
Adebayor: In - £2m Out - £24m
Song: In - £250k Out - £16m

The list goes on. I feel if Wenger starts spending more on top quality players the board we see no need to sell if a good offer comes in. Cazorla and Podolski are steps in the roght direction.

Detroit Gooner

Agree7 Disagree0

I feel he must not spend 30-40 mill on 28 year olds like falcao. only because its just a quick fix and the long term solution suffers.

Poldi, Cazorla at 20mill or under are great buys. strengthen the squad, experience. then we have Ox, wilshere, who are going from strength to strength.

for me the gotze issue, is to provide competition to our main players. and as I have said besides anderson who proved to be a flop. every other golden boy award winner is world class.

Agree1 Disagree0

Try not to forget about the money wasted on other players though as we have signed a lot of bad to average players.

Hleb - £13m
Eduardo - £12m
Arshavin - £14m
Squillaci - £5m
Wellington Silva - £3.5m
Gervinho - £10m
Santos - £6m
Park - £5.5m
Jeffers - £7m
Richard Wright - £7m
etc.

Also I think Adebayor cost more like £7m but we still made a healthy profit.
Finally Theo is STILL our top scorer and top assister this year having played less games than Giroud and the same as Pod. Would you rather Ox, who only has 2 goals or Gervinho who has no brain for football. I never get the hate for Theo. Play him upfront with Giroud or Podolski and he would probably be top scorer in the league.

Agree4 Disagree1

Hleb and Eduardo were not flops. Arshavin had a great impact in 1st 18 months and Park was never given a chance. But I agree with the rest.

Detroit Gooner

Agree8 Disagree0

Detroit, you missed his most famous profit making transfer in Anelke

Agree3 Disagree0

Hleb was sold for more than he cost. Eduardo was not the same after his broken leg, but still sold for decent money. Arshavin has not worked out long term but is not a bad player. No guarantee any other big money foreign signing will do any better. Squillaci, Santos and Park were bad signings. Gervinho is okay his erratic performances are not all bad. I do not know the details of wellington but doubt he cost that much, signing players very young is always a risk. Wright and Jeffers were two of the best young English players who did not quite make the grade at arsenal but their careers only really plummeted later.

Agree3 Disagree0

Chess, could not have put it better myself.

Apparently Theo's stats count for nothing with his haters, as you pointed out if he had of been played up front (apart from about 2 games that he did) he would have scored loads more.

Just picking up on earlier posts by HB and Stoner - they were both spot on. The cost of going to a gamehas caused the drop in atmosphere at the big clubs and it won't change back to the way it was until prices come down

One way to do that would be to have designated standing areas so more people could get in. I know some clubs tried to raise this but got out voted.

Properly managed standing areas are viable and I can't understand why football does not look for their return. The cup semis are at Wembley so there is ample space around the place to have some kind of outer cordon that you can only pass with your match ticket to control overcrowding. The same system is also achievable at the Emirates

All the authorities have to do is set some management standars that clubs have to comply with to get licences for standing areas and there is no reason why this can't be done and football returned to the supporters. It works in Germany as one poster has said and across the rest of the continent if not world so there is no reason why properly managed standing areas would not work in the UK {Ed029's Note - I had to cut part of the post as something said was incorrect.}

Believable4 Unbelievable0

I agree this would be at least a step in the right direction. I see no reason as to why it could not be done safely like in Germany. Good post.

HB

Agree0 Disagree0

The German system gives you an allocated standing place with a folding seat. I for one hate standing at a match - I can't see half the pitch anymore (sightline ok when everyone sits, huge chunk invisible when everyone stands). None of the kids in our section can see anything at all when those arround them stand either.

Agree0 Disagree1

15 Apr 2013 08:07:57
right if we get 3rd do you all believe we will spend big? knowing wenger he'll prob think there's no need to and that our team is good enough. that's why I pay no attention to all these big names being linked with us because most of the time it's just bull. the only time I will get excited about big names is if it says on on tv that we are in negotiations or have signed a big name apart from that I don't believe the papers
opinions welcome

gooner mark

Believable4 Unbelievable0

I hope so, but looking at our past track record then if you're hoping for big name players there isn't much cause for optimism is there?

Agree2 Disagree0

I think Wenger will once again try & balance the books. So, it depends very much on what we get in. I have a feeling we will try & sell or release:
Mannone, Fabianski, Sagna, Squilacci, Djourou, Santos, Denilson, Chamakh, Park, Bendtner & Arshavin. Possibly raising approx £25m.
I believe he will buy a keeper, a centre back, a defensive midfield player & a forward. He will fund this with the £25m raised & I expect a couple of surprise sales to fund the balance.

Agree6 Disagree2

We can't buy 20 new players. we need to get rid of those we don't need, promote some from the first team, and buy a few quality players to improve the first team.

diaby has run out of time. he will not be given a new contract so will walk for free end of next season. Fabianski is practically auditioning for a new job, Sagna will go to the highest bidder, Squilacchi and arshavin will help us get money off the books.

Bendtner, chamakh, Park, Denilson, Santos, Mannone, may be a problem in offloading.

I honestly believe gervinho and walcott need to be sold. they are both the same. good on their day and absolute garbage on another day.

Agree4 Disagree3

The difference this summer is we have a large chunk of the new EMIRATES sponsorship deal arriving as stated by the emirates president.
there was talk about it being as much as 70mill. if you add that to what we have in the bank which is around 150mill.

the problem is moving on about 10 players and freeing up some wages.

i can see us spending around 100 mill on 4-5 players.

malaga gooner

Agree3 Disagree3

Would love it if that is the case!

Names Malaga, GIVE ME NAMES! There is nothing better than transfer rumours!

Churchill Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi churchill

its between us and barcelona for gotze.

for him to go to barcelona they would have to break up their midfield which I can't see them doing.

my mate is pretty confident that we will get him and jovetic and wanyama/capoue in the summer.

time will tell.

malaga gooner

Agree1 Disagree2

I actually think the jovetic news was a ruse. Wenger will not spend 25 mill on a position he see's as being. just the finishing touch.

Also with poldi, Giroud and walcott. what he has effectively, is Pace, strenght and technical awareness. 3 different tactics if you may.

he has been infatuated with the midfield and news just keeps popping up about the same player. so I will hold out for atleast one major signing. and I am quite sure with Ox, Wilshere + new name signing. we will have one of the best midfields in the world.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers Malaga!

Tingling with excitement!

Personally I would prefer Benzema to Jovetic, but there is obviously a huge difference in both fee and wages. Also an attempt to get Tom Ince, I think that he has a BIG future!

Gotze is very good, but if there is only a finite amount of money I would prefer it to go towards a goalie and a center back. Still drives me crazy that we lost out on Cahill!

Time will tell though.

On-wards and upwards! Tough game tomorrow, will be tight but we should sneak it, Secure 3rd and let the fun begin!

I hate to say it, but those two games lost against Chelsea may prove to be vital at the end of the season.
If Chelsea were 3 points lower and we were 3 points higher (assuming that we each won our home games)
We would be in a much better position than we are now.

Just a thought.

Nick.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

There are other games that may cost us, but we are in a decent position, with our destiny in our own hands. Bearing in mind Chelsea will no doubt fatigue with the amount of matches they have to play and the Toot are on a poor run, with injuries & fatigue having set in. The Toot & Chelsea also have to play each other, so points will be dropped. In order to finish top 4, we need the following points: Everton (3), Fulham (1), Man U (1), Wigan (3), Newcastle (1), QPR (3). This should do the trick for sure.

Agree9 Disagree0

If we beat Everton and Fulham (Big ask I know but possible) and Spurs V Chelsea is a draw it leaves us in a bloody good position. Spurs have to play City aswell.

Not to be rude but I see everyone talking about Gotze. He's a great player but even if we buy him where would he play? CAM is Cazorla, box to box is Jack. Right midfield is Theo and left midfield is Podolski. I don't think we need him to be honest. Even this summer if we get Wanyama, Begovic, Jovetic and Amorebiata then we'll have a decent team. Sorry if anyone thinks differently.

Believable6 Unbelievable7

He can play where cazorla plays and they can interchange with Podolski up top.

Agree3 Disagree0

Since he is only 20 not everyone is high on him. but if you have watched him play since he was 17 I think. you would have noticed that his projection at that age was on par with the one and only Lionel messi. infact it was better.

then injuries slowed down the stats, but he is still a lethal player.

if you compare him and Isco you will notice that Isco has more passes intercepted aka gives the ball away cheaply.

Also I don't see why we should not sign a player who has won the Golden boy award.

Just to show the award winners.

2003 - Van Der Vaart
2004 - Rooney
2005 - Messi
2006 - Cesc
2007 - Sergio Aguero
2008 - Anderson
2009 - Alexander Pato
2010 - Balotelli
2011 - Gotze
2012 - Isco

Besides Anderson who has been a flop and Pato who has been daiby 2. 0 with a lot of potential. the others are on projected as world class players or some of the best to play the game.

so I don't see the risk in spending 30 mill on a player who will make us better.

We could have a front 4 of Pod, Goetze, Cazorla and Jack with Giroud+Theo+others on the bench. That would be nice.

Aint going to happen though for one of many reasons. Cost/wages/bigger club wanting him (Barca)/why would he leave a club challenging for Champions league for us? (sorry but Dortmund are a class above us ATM)

This summer will be interesting indeed.

Barca are going defender hunting. and Hummels has been openly approached. de ja vu. cesc thing all over again. I think he has barca DNA because he ate a paella.

Agent in brazil for barca saying they won't depend on messi as they will have neymar. so some key attacking figures look to be heading out too.

Madrid want to have bale and ronaldo on the same team. plus aguero. some fetish that is turning out to be.

United bought Zaha. and they will want to implement him in their team. they are apparently scouting Falcao or maybe his mrs. Natalia Velez ( chk her out)

I see us in a good position to get Gotze. we can afford his wages and also because we are due a big name player. and perhaps with the money coming in at the right time we could land him.
