Am just as disappointed as anyone about the result - but. let's keep it in perspective - the team looked tired against everton at the end, they looked completely knackered against Napoli for last 20 mins and ManC had a shoo-in game a full day ahead of us without most of their key players so they were in perfect nick, at home!

As far as Olli is concerned the poor bloke hasn't had a break yet this year. Mezut Ozil has played more hard games since he got here than he has in total for the previous year.

Just wait till they've all had a little rest

They'll be back

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I ended up in pub with a few city fans last night and I said the same.
They both need a rest, I'm just hoping pod's back soon.
They said the only times that they have played well is against the bigger clubs.

As we said at the time John Henry will not sell Suarez to Arsenal.

You could have tried 45 million. No chance. In January you can try 55 million. Guess what. no chance.

Lets hope we can both get good results against Chelski and then keep Citeh at bay.

Would love it for Liverpool and Arsenal to stil be in the mix for the title come the last 10 games of the season and then who knows

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Worth £70m of anybodys money.

Agree0 Disagree0

I will be honest. previously I would have baulked at paying such a ridiculous fee. but suarez. like the rentagob piers morgan points out. would be well worth it.this season he has put the summer debacle behind him and is well worth 50-60 million. I don't think he is a world transfer record but certainly at the level of fee that psg paid for cavani, in fact a bit more.how many more fans are worried our lack of a "world class" striker will harm our chances of winning trophies.

Agree0 Disagree0

Who cares what liverpool do or where they end up.

hi every one let's not get carried away by yesterdays result. on another day we could have won, before I get slated let me explain.
the first goal for them just a class finish cannot complain, the second came from a throw we conceded but 5 seconds before the ball should have been cleared properly but instead we pissed around with it. same for the third goal which ended up with a bad pass to flamini and they scored after that, in all fairness to wenger he tried to win the game with his changes very positve exept bendtner but who else did he have. and if i'm honest giroud missed a couple of guilt edged chances, we suffered from some bad offside decisions and while chasing the game conceded more goals ( I thought milner was already on his way down when our keeper touched him and left his foot out to be touched ). we lost to a very good man city side at home, only lost 3 points and are still top of the league although I think a win against chelsea is a must. so let's not be to harsh.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It should have finished 5-5. in fact I really think milner dived.
i am happy that when it came to scoring we didn't completely fold. I am typically unhappy with the press especially the DM and how they now expect us to fold. I really don't know why the press dislike us.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yanman your a joke. you not see bendtner put it in the back of the net?? 2 goals called offside and a clear penalty shout. We were robbed!

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with jack.it was a LOT closer than the press made out.
if i'm honest I was secretly harbouring that we would be beaten. just not by the dirty scoreline.

In one respect, big massive hairy LOLz at spurs today. 5-0 at home that is perrrrfettick.

On the other hand, could we have gone to 50mil for Suarez? Would l'pool have eventually budged? I dunno.

To be honest if we'd gone to £60 million he'd have been worth every penny and how many points would we be clear.

The best teams have the best strikers and we need one of them and that's no slate on Giroud.

Agree0 Disagree0

According to opta stats Spurts become the 1st ever team since it giving stats to register NO attempts on target lol

Evening Gents and Ladies,

I think a lot of us were a little upset yesterday, I certainly know I was and there were a few harsh posts written by most of us, including me.

The dust has now settled from the Etihad and here are my thoughts.

I love Olly Giroud to bits and like my friend Gunner62 says, his work rate is phenomenal and he leads the line very well. He is a great player to have upfront and he brilliantly plays to our strengths of our attack minded midfielders. But, yes there's always a but, we need more goals from him. He has an average career stat of 1 goal per every 7 chances given, sorry but that's not good enough for a team trying to win the league.

I would love Suarez or Aguero upfront but I would also like to look out of my front room window and see a Porsche sitting on my driveway, neither are going to happen, so will just have to put that one to bed.

what's the answer? I truly don't know, if I did, I would be paid £7.5m per year like Arsene Wenger, than I can get that porsche and park it on my driveway.

We, in my opinion, need a Loic Remy or a Karin Benzema, the latter being slightly more achievable as I can't see Remy moving anytime soon, due to his loan contract agreement.

I am not going to lambast our back 4 or Sczecsny, because prior to the Etihad we had the best defensive record in the league, 11 goals conceded in 16 games, we just came up against a very very good team who were better than us on the day.

We have an abundance of riches in midfield. that's good but it can also throw up problems, IE, Flamini or Arteta, Cazorla or Wilshere, the list is endless. Should Ozil start every game and never be subbed? Can we play Ramsey every minute of every game? Walcott or Gnabry or Rosicky or The Ox? Where will Podolski fit in? More questions than answers.

My summary.
We are still top after 16 games, that's brilliant.
We have Chelsea next, if we beat them than we have West Ham away, Newcastle away, Cardiff home and Aston Villa away. All very very winable. there's lots of points to be won. We need to get some momentum back in the team. The Arsenal train has'nt derailed but the tracks have a lot of wet leaves on them, but I hope, no I expect, us to cope with what's coming our way.

Chin up my fellow gooners and goonerettes, support the boys and be proud that we support one of the best teams in the world.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Top post and agree with everything you've said.

I personally don't think City were that good. Ok, they have an abundance of strikers, and their squad has got to be one of the best in the world, let along the premier league. However, the scoreline flattered them enormously, and if the ref & linesmen were doing their jobs right, the end result would've been a lot difference.

I must admit though, we are looking tired and jaded in certain areas. The back five picks itself, and hopefully the leg injury to Kos will have healed before the Chelsea game. Just a deep cut I believe, so fingers crossed. Come january though, we need defensive cover. As much as I love TV5, I get the feeling he doesn't want to be at Arsenal anymore. His performances this season, has been poor, and I personally don't think his heart is in it anymore.

The papers are reporting that Sagna is ready to sign a new contract. Can't say i'm overly fussed if he does or doesn't, as he his getting caught out way too often.

The midfield is getting worrying though I believe, as Arsene doesn't seem to know his best options. Ramsey, Flamini and Rosicky across the middle for me. And now he is fit, the Pod, Walcott and Giroud across the front. No place for Jack or Ozil. They can be both benched, as Jack's performances and attitude is appaling at the moment. I noticed in the city game, when he was fouled or dispossed, he just lay on the floor feeling sorry for himself. That's not the Jack we know, so he either needs a rest or pulling himself together. As for Ozil, why he constantly plays for 90 mins everytime, is beyond me. Whether Wenger thinks he has too because of the price tag, I don't know. He drifts in and out of games far too much, doesn't offer anything defensively. However, the quality is there, but possibly just needs time to adjust with the speed of the premiership.

And poor Olly. The lad looks absolutely knackered. It pains me to say it, but once Chelsea is out the way, maybe give Bentner a run. I ain't his biggest fan, but he has done well recently.

We need a few bob spending in the sales next month. Not sure about Remy. Hasn't impressed me and I don't think he is any better than what we've already got. He'd be a useful squad member, if nothing else. Benzema. he'll do. Michu has also been mentioned. Would he fit in to the way we play? Not sure he would, unless Wenger tinkers with the formation. yeah right!

Bring on Chelsea and a cracking monday night atmosphere.

Here's an option for January:
we try for Eduardo. Supposedly he's interested in playing again in the PL. He knows our system well and can play in the striker and left wing role. He's 30 years-old but would offer us a reliable pair of fresh legs

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Great player mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Could he cut it. perhaps think if prince poldi had been a season length injury he would have been a good alternative. really doubt he could play up front in girouds spot on his own. still would like to see him back . think he has got a great football brain and good technique though.

Just want to point out yesterday Ozil had a very quite game, yet still popped up with an assist. We need that in a Striker. Someone who can score out of no where in the big games. Giroud doesn't cut it. We should really push for Lewandowski. he's open to move to England, has nothing in place to join another club and i'm sure Dortmund would hate for him to go to Bayern.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ozil is a long way off from his best but his quality is such that he still makes a difference.
Not sure if he's not happy here or just adjusting I guess time will tell

Agree0 Disagree0

G62, yeh I think he's happy here mate, he's just a bit knackered I think.

I have loads of time for Giroud he may not always get it right but the man gives everything in every game, of course more goals would be brilliant but the blokes effort is faultless.
We need to find an alternative option too of course but say what you like about the bloke he don't need competition to make keep on his toes his attitude does that

We desperately need a class striker, Olly is good but we need better striker than him, against big teams I really can't feel that he will score, plus against good teams we need someone more clinical. and I think KARIM BENZAMA. might be the answer

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think Benzema will be here in January

I would be very happy with Benzema

as much as today was bad, it was expected ( maybe not goals against ) but start of season we would of grabbed your arm of for our position! if we beat chealsea then we have 2-3 games left I think for half way and we can still be top! then with us having to still play the second half of the season playing Liverpool, Man City Man U at home, we have a great chance this season, the bpl is so open and most teams who don't play in Europe drop of over December January as they are not used to playing 2 games a week as is required over this period, ( most teams drop of at this time due to squad fatiuge) we probably need to sign as tricker in January but when we do I think this will only motivate girioud to play better ( win win ) man city will be good all season how can't they be with the money they have spent and the players they have but I think our squad experience of the leauge will take us through to the end, so come on let's get behind the team because if they feel the fans fears it will run through to the team eventually!
