According to reports Barcelona want £17m for David Villa, surely for a 31 year old, and only now on the bench there we won't hopefully Persue him any more

Rooney or Welbeck. i'd go with Rooney, both my Gran's are dead so he isn't a threat.

Just to clarify I was referring to Rooney liking Grans and not that both my Grandmothers were prostitutes,
well not as far as I know. i'm sure neither were, I've ruied my own Saturday by putting horrendous thoughts in my head.

we are getting to the part of the season where the next 6 games will tell us if the squad arsene has put his faith in are worthy of wearing an arsenal shirt.
by the end of the season it will be 8 years since we lifted a cup.
arsenal supporters have been patient long enough, we have stood by wenger more than any other fan base would ever allow their manager. we have given him enough time to get his act together.
its time arsene stopped messing around and started to beat it into his squad that nothing less than a cup and a 4th spot finish will do.
for me if arsene does not deliver this season it has to be his last.

More complete bollox- with very few exceptions the perception from outside at what has happened at AFC
over the last 15 yrs- not only from Arsene but the board as well- is absolutely magnificent and a real blueprint for success and continued success over a lot of decades to come.

Agree. I know not winning anything in nearly 8 years is hard to take, but building a new stadium at the same time the competition has increased due to certain sugar daddies appearing, makes you appreciate what we have gone through. The likes of Liverpool, spuds, everton etc would bite their arms off to be where we are. I would sacrifice 10 years of no trophies to set us up for the next 100. NO TO USMANOV. We are clatval

John Guidetti and Nani are under AWs radar. Two great players in Manchester time for us for some payback.

Two great players? They are not good enough to play regularly, and they are both on huge wages!

Nice typo, makes more sense that they are 'under' the radar as opposed to 'on' the radar. Also Messi and Ronaldo are 'under' our radar.

The Bale/Ronaldo comparisons need to stop. The media hypes Bale up too much.
Bale is a wonderful player. But he is not even close and never will be close to Ronaldos ability.
Not neccesarily Arsenal related, but had to vent this.
Believable16
Unbelievable1
"never will be"? Bale's still 23 and performing like a pro. he's nowhere near the perfect team player, but he's been less selfish this year, his game's gotten better and he's been putting in solid performances day in, day out for a while now. a better team, a better manager and who knows what'll happen.

Just read what Jamie Redknapp & Jeff Stelling was saying about bale and that he is a better player than Ronaldo. Maybe it's because I am a arsenal fan that I choose to not see what they see but for me it is laughable to even compare the 2. Bale is a really good player and is having a really good patch. But to say he is in the same league as Ronaldo or better I really don't think so and Redknapp even went as far as saying he will become has good a messi.
Do use agree with them is it just me please let me know.

The thing is Charlie, if I click "agree", am I agreeing with them that he is or you that he's not? Confusing!
For the record, he is a very good player with excellent potential but I'll be living on the Isle of Ronaldo long before he's better than either of those two!

Right now he is flying and has no doubt improved his game massivly over the last couple of seasons. His free kicks are certianly as good as anybody's.
He needs to prove that he can perform consistanly over the course of a few seasons though to be considered really world class.
Ronaldo and Messi are just on another level and nobody is in their leaque at the moment.
For me he is player that thrives in a certain system of play and is better suited to counter attacking play and utilising the channels. He can be nullified I feel if you adapt your system to stop him were as Ronaldo and Messi can be just unplayable regardless of what you do to try and stop them.
Agree6
Disagree0
Not in Ronaldo's league.
He is having a decent season, but sitting 4th place with the Toot, out of the League & F A Cups, whilst playing in the Europa, hardly compares to playing consistently at Real.
Agree19

His main problems are that he's Welsh and plays for Spurs - so unlikely to feature on the big stage regularly if at all. Makes comparisons difficult.

Sagna should be our Abidal or Thuram.
Lets not forget Cannavaro was 5'9 as is Mascherano, and Roberto Ayala was 5'10. Hell Walter Samuel is barely 6 feet tall.
Height isn't everything. And frankly, Sagna's quickness, ability on the ball and most importantly, ability to read the game make him vital to us.
I'd offer him a 2 yr extension.
Look how poor Hummels was against Donetsk. Every defender has a day off. On their day, we have three of the best. Sagna can be the fourth.
Usually with the way we do business he is gone this summer, but after Sunderland, I can see him playing centrally for 3-4 years at least for us. at least as a quality backup
He loves the club, keep Baks here. model professional, true Gunner, one of the true absolute world class talents left on our roster.
I have no problem with class acts like Sagna getting their due financially, especially when far lesser talents around the league make more than 60k/wk

I agree, sagna is one of the best around, and always consistent.
What a great post mate

I would definitely extend his deal for at least 2 years. he is a quality right-back & would be costly and difficult to replace. However he criticised Wenger & will be sold in the summer.
Agree2
Disagree4
If that is the only reason he is being sold it is very very alarming. Silencing criticism or scaring people to shut up is what dictators all over the world have done troughout the human history. If this is what Arsene has become then **** him. Long live some kind of democracy and freedom of speach and I hope to god this is not the entire reason for his departure. Gives me shivers

Agree with all the points except the quickness. He lost it a bit I think.

What I meant is he is more than quick enough to play center back, jut not enough to go up and down the flanks for 90min and still be "game quick"
