For girouds opener every player (starting from the goalkeeper) touched the ball, great team goal.

15 Feb 2015 21:52:38
Couldn't watch the game today due to work, how did Gabriel look?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

For my money he did well for his first game in a strange land, wasn't afraid to gee up others on his debut which impressed me

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Feb 2015 22:05:43
Yeah he did well, everyone's concern was tat he couldn't play out from the back like arsenal do. he did that perfectly fine for me. Also took a yellow for the team :)

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Feb 2015 22:37:00
I thought he did very well.

Loved him in Genesis, was a bit gutted when he left, but loved his album "Sledgehammer".

Oh wait, that's Peter Gabriel.

Sorry.

Agree0 Disagree0

Only "In your eyes" dags, you got that wrong. " Big time" but. " Don't give up"

Agree0 Disagree0

Cant fault our boys but soooo disappointed with boro.

Agree0 Disagree4

16 Feb 2015 07:23:26
Lol, nice one 337 :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry Dags, technical point - the album was called "So". "Sledgehammer" was a single released fom it.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Feb 2015 21:05:01
Your old boy mowgli Saint arsenal over here told you that Giroud and Ozil where good, I was laughed at when I said that giroud was talismanic for us. Don't look so stupid now do I? He brings balance and flow to the team more than any other individual we have

Believable1 Unbelievable0

15 Feb 2015 21:17:41
More than santi?
More than kos?
Granted he scores a goal or two but gives the ball away far to easily for me and he runs like bambi :)

Agree0 Disagree1

Giroud as I said weeks back is like knees, most likely taken for granted and not truly appreciated until missing

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Feb 2015 21:26:09
Have always been a Giroud fan.

Ozil? I'm sitting on the fence about this guy.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Feb 2015 21:29:53
Balance and flow? I've heard it all now
For every good performance from Giroud you get a stinker

He's a good player but let's not get carried away, he'd struggle to get into any of our previous title winning sides

Bring the hate, don't care

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Feb 2015 21:41:56
I'm with 1404 on this one. I got your back bro lol :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Not being sure about Mesut is like not being sure of music, you can live without it but life wouldn't be as good without it .
Ozil is a classic and the biggest hits are yet to come Dags, trust me on the sunscreen

Agree1 Disagree0

1404

There are many players in the current set up that would struggle to get into our title winning sides.

Not the worst thing you can throw at Giroud

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Feb 2015 22:11:57
What Giroud brings to the team is unfortunately outweighed by what he doesn't bring. It's that simple. Liking a player is irrelevant.

Ozil on the other hand is simply World Class :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Does not matter until they start winning major honours they are nothing but glorified names.

win a trophy and then you are talking arsenal folklore.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Feb 2015 22:31:25
Ozil does his job so discreetly that knowone notices, he makes very clever runs to make space for himself to produce a killer ball, he takes players out the game constantly.
Very intelligent player, glad he's on board :)

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Feb 2015 22:39:57
Ozil created 7 goalscoring oppurtunities vs Boro' today. And he's had 3 goals and 3 assists in his previous 4 games. So he is very important to us, and we really missed him in October/November. We are lucky Santi was able to step up the past two months in his absence.

Giroud. a lot of us are torn. He's a good striker and suits out style of play very well. A tall and physical striker is somthing we have missed. He has 49 goals in 107 appearances, aswell as somthing like 20-25 assists. He is clearly important to us. Obviously we would prefer a Suarez or Lewandowski (Giroud is outscoring both these players this season) and they be better. But the guy is doing a great job, let's give him a break. He has improved loads in the past 3 seasons.

Agree2 Disagree0

We always do this after one game. Not being picky but I thought there goalie pulled off ssome great saves but for his goals he was weak. Good technique though from giroud. I still don't see him going away from home and doing what henry rvp used to do.

Agree0 Disagree0

RED DOG

A CF is there to score that is what he does, his work rate isn't needed players around are there for that, he is played to score and that is what he does.

Can you highlight what he doesn't bring.

Please don't tell me saving penalties :) x

Agree0 Disagree0

If Giroud is ok for Le Boss, then he is ok for me. Every team needs its workers and he does a great job of it, highly underrated player.

My only knock on Giroud is he goes down a bit easy for a big lad.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Feb 2015 04:10:51
Our attack is definitely stronger as a unit with giroud than without, not even taking into account the fact that he can score goals. Is he ever going to be as great as the likes of Henry? No, but he definitely doesn't deserve all the criticism he gets. Personally I'd like to get rid of welbeck as I've never rated him, sure he did the job while giroud was injured but he's never going to be good enough for us imo.

Agree1 Disagree0

In theory, his style of play brings our wingers into play very well. But we got to admit, there are better versions of Giroud 1.0 out there for example Benzema 2.0 or Zlatan 3.0

I just wish he was quicker and sharper with his shots

Agree0 Disagree0

Welbeck has been played out of position since giroud came back, he has definitely been less effective out wide. I'd keep him on the bench and start wally and rotate him with giroud to start up top

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Feb 2015 07:00:08
BANBURY,

Does he do what Aguero or Costa do, no he doesn't so whilst YOUR opinion may be that he's ok, mine is also that he's ok.

But slicing and missing, failing to convert simple chances at important moments in important games, failing to connect with a fantastic cross but seeing the ball bounce of his shoulder are all things ok strikers do.

I love that you want Wenger out and we should believe that but you want Giroud in and we should be happy with that.

Further did your mother never tell that self praise is no praise at all.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Feb 2015 19:50:50
So we moan we don't win trophies and that AW doesn't take the cup seriously and here we are playing to get into the quarter finals with the two top teams in the uk out and we moan AW doesn't rest Sanchez? Funny that - may be he's been watching him train and had feedback from the back room staff!

May be he was playing mind games like the special one when saying Sanchez was tired.

Who knows - it was a big call and he got it right.

It's a tough job being manager :)

Great result and now onto Palace with a short rest.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

15 Feb 2015 20:40:42
Why risk your top player against a side we should beat easily without him? ( all due respect to boro) when we have more vital and harder games coming up? We should be brushing aside the lesser teams with the squad we have to be able to give other players a rest. It's a squad game not a one player game sy4

Agree0 Disagree1

15 Feb 2015 21:11:33
Jegooner.

Fantastic response and totally agree.

Yes, AW got it right, and as you said SY4, its a fine line but, as we saw against spurs, Sanchez makes a big difference.

Can we afford to lose him for 4 or 5 games?
And, even if not injured, we have to rest him at some stage.

Agree0 Disagree1

SY4

See a post earlier from me

Wenger has admitted Sanchez is showing signs of fatigue. why play him?

He wasn't needed today .

Agree0 Disagree1

15 Feb 2015 22:17:37
Unfortunately someone misquotes Wenger to moan about him then the assumption is that Sanchez isn't fit.

Did you see him hobbling, easing off on his sprinting or asking to be subbed.

No nor did I. The guy was fit and he played a good 70mins.

Way to much moaning about 5h1te.

Agree0 Disagree0

How many consecutive games did lampard play, wrapping players in cotton wool hasn't served us well to date.
He wants to play so let him

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Feb 2015 22:40:43
Red

I don't think you'll ever see alexis asking to be subbed (he's that kinda guy)
At the end of the day he didn't need to play this game and if he did get a knock n was out for 3/4/5 games then we'd all be cringing at wengers decision, luckily for us he didn't but we have players in our ranks that could of quite easily done the job today. We won the fa cup last year. and guess what. we didn't have Sanchez ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Feb 2015 22:45:00
6 responses.

3 say rest him.
3 say play him.

That's amazing.
Or as my Grandad use to say, "that's amazing".

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger sees this cup as a way to keep us happy. he's going for it. I think we would of beat them without Sanchez. Nice he got thought it without any injuries and we move on

Agree0 Disagree0

Red Dog

Yawn

No one said he wasn't fit, Wenger said he was showing signs of fatigue, a totally different thing.

There was no misquote

Verbatim

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Feb 2015 23:20:44
Quite the opposite - I am sticking up and standing by our manager

There is no pleasing some fans - AW is taking the cup seriously and we want trophies - don't we?

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Feb 2015 06:53:58
Banbury,

Double yawn, Wenger said he was fatigued in a specific game, the one against Leicester, you quoted it how you wanted it to sound.

As usual. Boring.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Feb 2015 07:22:51
Jegooner,

Wenger spoke of Sanchez not being himself in the Leicester game because of the knock to his knee.

It was not a muscle injury because he would not have played had it been. I was concerned about him being brought on in the BHA game, that 20 minutes to me was a waste.

But Boro having beaten City and with their form in the Championship needed a quality team out.

Having missed him at Spurs it would have been crazy to risk an injured player but Sanchez clearly wasn't and came off after a quality 70 minutes.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Feb 2015 10:22:34
Red,

I agree with you in some respects mate but I just wouldn't of risked him for that game, yes boro have been flying lately but theo or rosicky could have done the job no bother. Alexis has been a beast for us so far this season and would be sorely missed if he pulled up with a niggle in his knee or a hammy injury. Ok it paid off. fair enough. He does need to be wrapped up in cotton wool, he's that important to us this season. Yes I want a trophy but not at the cost of a champions league place, I love our club attracting players like ozil n alexis (world-beaters) without CL football it just wouldn't happen.

Loving this debate btw :)

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Feb 2015 11:27:04
Jegooner,

Wenger actually said that the knock to his knee was simply bruising, nothing muscular, if it had been I'm pretty certain he wouldn't have played as I agree I wouldn't want him risked.

So for me the hamstring wasn't as issue shown by a 40yd burst he did when he nearly got on the end of a great through ball, no way would he have done that with a dodgy hamstring.

Yes Theo and Rosicky are more than capable guys and love them both but if there is no risk, above the unforeseen, to Sanchez then I'm cool with him playing.

Some players just naturally take it in their stride, Oscar was one who did it at Chelsea where he played a mammoth amount of games with no ill effect. Plenty of others do it.

I think our overall injury record makes us far more concerned about all our players, not just Sanchez, than we need to be, which is understandable. :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Feb 2015 12:59:22
Fair enough red,

Like you say if wenger was slightly worried then he would have been on the bench at most. Personally If that was the case I would of done it the other way round n brought him on for half hour just to get him back in the swing of things but le prof is the boss n what he says goes. Your absolutely right about our injury record.it scares the dung out of me when about niggles n what not n then to see the player on the field next game.

All in all he got through it unscaved so happy days.

Now let's smash palace next :)

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Feb 2015 19:07:32
Talking about the way people have laminted our GK's this season here is a stat for you from opta stats --

Wojciech Szczesny is the goalkeeper to have faced the hardest shots to save in the BPL this season

Believable1 Unbelievable0

15 Feb 2015 19:36:47
I think his biggest downfall was when he went walkabouts for Southampton's first goal.

Stupid and costly schoolboy error.

Agree1 Disagree0

Define hardest shot to save?

Agree1 Disagree1

How can anyone prove how accurate a statistic like that is? I do think Szczesny is underrated, usually because he produces a howler every now and then which causes people to forget all his good work - plus our defence can't have helped him this season. It did make me laugh that he's just been named Brentford's keeper of the decade. despite playing only 28 games for them as a loanee.

Really BG?

Agree0 Disagree0

Look it up opta stats or in the PL offical site, there is a chart there.

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently 90% of ststistics are made up on the spot. I think it's nearer 87% myself :-)

Agree1 Disagree0

There both miles below cech. Who I'd lay a lot of cash on if we can. Wouldn't pay cash though I'd send a cech

Agree0 Disagree0

TPG

YES

How the hell can anyone say 'x' shot is more difficult save than 'y' . impossible

Agree0 Disagree0

Statistically it's 88% davros :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Probably a combination of many factors including shot placement, shot power, keeper's starting position, how many players are blocking keeper's sight, deflections etc.

Still to many factors to be an accurate stat for me

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Feb 2015 19:05:24
I think over the past few weeks, Chambers has had his nose put out of joint by the emergence of Bellerin and possibly Le Coq.
But, he played very well today.

Credit to the kid.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

15 Feb 2015 19:56:28
Completely agree dags, he played very well.
Although I still think he looks far more comfortable in the middle of defence.
Good performance all round tbh.
Loving santi. he oozes quality. Untouchable right now :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed but somehow he looks more composed as a CB to me.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Feb 2015 21:16:43
Totally agree Jegooner and Hood.

I know he had his critics, especially after he got roasted by that Swansea chap, but he gives 100% every time.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Feb 2015 21:39:20
if you give 100% for the badge then you get a big thumbs up from me.
He got rushed into the team early in the season due to injuries which really didn't help but would have given him some vital experience. He'll be a top player in the near future for us I'm sure.

Agree0 Disagree0

Chambers had a good game indeed

Told you Ozil was class. You don't just stop being World Class. Watching him, Cazorla and Sanchez was a joy at times

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It was never in doubt Baggins mate, the question was could he show his class stuck out on the left or would we play him in his £42 million position

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Feb 2015 17:51:03
Ok

Cut the Feb 14th crap out, down to the real stuff.

2-0 for us today. with a home draw against Reading to follow.

That's the first bit done, now for the draw tomorrow

Agree0 Disagree1

15 Feb 2015 17:22:17
I understand it, just don't like the guy and would still sell him tomorrow

Agree1 Disagree2

I reckon he'd top score in the championship. We played middleborough not Madrid

Agree0 Disagree2

Derby??

The finish of the 2nd was stunning .

He scores goals mate and assists

Agree0 Disagree0

Yea as usual the same ranting from someone who plays fantasy football. Its the same boro who beat city, and top of thier league, and BG is talking abt 10 goals in 15 games, which is pretty good for any striker. And ohhh Bony plays against boro all the time is it?

Agree0 Disagree0

Banbury the goalie was on his knees I have no idea why. if he stood there it would of hit him.

his first I though the keeper was weak it was straight at him.

Agree0 Disagree0

We need to realize we are always talking about giroud and him improving. he's 29 this year? at his peak and rvp peak rvp was twice as good.

people slate me for rating kane he's 21 years old?

Agree0 Disagree0

Sanchez starts, I am not sure it is worth the risk, he may well have a stormer but then again damage the hamstring more or knee and miss an important part of the season.

I will go 3-0 arsenal

Believable1 Unbelievable0

15 Feb 2015 15:20:00

Believable1 Unbelievable0

I don't get that, on the AFC site Wenger says he is a doubt.
