Really hoping for a win or a draw tonight. We have Sanchez this year against Bayern, ao hopefully the mental block/ confidence issuea don't occur. On another note, I remember the conversations on the banter page being very similar last year. We eventually came second, even if it was with a whimper.

The performance was so bad I just disliked my own comment.

Very interesting result last night as PSG thrashed Barcelona 4-0. My theory is that Wenger will end up at PSG next season. However, if PSG go through against Barcelona and if they win the French League, only one win behind leaders Monaco, then they may not sack their current manager. This makes our matches against Bayern even more interesting as I believe they are another club that Wenger could end up at next season. If we lose to Bayern and they retain the German league title, then their manager is probably safe for another season. If we manage to win and finish top four, then Wenger could see progress as we would have reached the last 8 in the CL and he may extend his deal for a couple more years. My guess is that Wenger would like to manage at club level until his 70th birthday, whether with us or elsewhere and then manage the French national team. I many be proved totally wrong, but I have a feeling we can sneak a draw tonight, depending on what team is selected. I believe it should be an experienced team, with Gabriel coming in at RB and Monreal at LB. I would play Xhaka and Elneny in front of the back four. The midfield three of Oxlade, Ozil and Sanchez, with Giroud up top. Ox with Gabriel behind will provide greater cover for the fullback, as will Sanchez wide left. The position that gave me the most difficulty in selecting was whether to play Coq or Elneny, but the Elneny/ Xhaka partnerships seems to work best.

I agree with a lot of this team selection. Although I think Bayern will dominate a lot of possession and we need to be hitting them on the counter. Ospina will start but i'm ok with that he has excellent reflexes and is superior to Cecb in terms of closing down and 1 on 1 situations.

Id go with Ospina: Bellerin, Mustafi, Koscielny, Gibbs: Coquelain, Xhaka, Ox: Welbeck, Giroud, Alexis.

Our best back 4 and Bellerin offers more going forward and on the counter than Gabriel. We'll need his pace to deal with Robben/ Ribery/ Douglas Costa. Coquelain has to start for me as he is our best DM and one bad perforamce v Chelsea doe'snt change that. Xhaka and Ox give us players who can pass and move the ball well and a bit more strenght and solidity in midfield. Ozil has to be dropped for me we need 11 players working hard and doing their bit. Welbeck and Sanchez on the wings will help out the full backs as I believe Walcott and Iwobi won'5 do that imo. Danny is raring to go he deserves a start and has pace to hurt Bayern. Giroud up top gives us the extra option of crossing and someone who can hold up long balls etc.

Not expecting miracles tonight but i'll support my team regardless and enjoy the match.

I don't think selection is much to do with it. Preparation however is. and let's be fair, we all know what to expect including Bayern. Nothing will be different we may play better or worse, but basically it will be the same. They will be prepared and we won't.
