Interesting start to the season

We have to learn from Chelsea - the squad must be ready on day 1 not day 31.

Always difficult after a big tournament - let's get the signings done and get our house in order sharpish as we got to come out the blocks quick.

Don't you just love the length's the tabloids go to sell a paper?

I saw a press conference yesterday involving Gareth Bale.

It was all very light hearted and one of the press asked Bale, "Are any England player's good enough to play for Wales? "

Bale laughed and jokingly said "No".

Today, big massive headline on back page, with Bale reportedly saying, "You're not fit to wear our shirt".

Jeez, do me a favour.

Tough opening couple of months then some slight potential rest bite before a tough November and December, premier league football doesn't get any tougher than this season IMO.

Agree gunner, the 4 London clubs will be strong, especially Chelsea then up north Liverpool will be a lot better under kiopp, city and utd will be powerhouses with the cash and top managers. Leicester will definitely be there if they hold on to vardy and co and you always get a surprise package which could be Everton under Ronald koeman.

Remember remember the 5 th of November for the visit of the mighty Tottenham Hotspur. I think Christmas has come a month earlier next year as we have you, Chelsea and west ham for the raver to cause havoc.

You have no shame at all raver. I can't believe the rest of the gooners even entertain you and bite. Even after your sorry pitiful demise at the end of last season you still think things are so different. Talk about diludid. Go bore someone else with your crazy goings on.

Not from my mush Chris! Let me put it a different way! Would it not get boring if after 25 years the spuds fans kept coming saying we're this we're going to do that this year maybe this decade! I also more disappointed with the arsenal fans who argue every day with dear raver trying to point this fact out or this stat out. Give up boys it doesn't sink in. It's like talking to a lump of dead wood. Like the saying the facts speak for itself. And Chris there are Arsenal fans out there that do similar . But between our two clubs which in what we banter the gap isn't as large as us and spuds. We have finished above you and beat you to league titles albeit not as often as you have topped us but still our big mouthing on occasions have come true. The spuds on the other hand have never once since well before the Internet finished above us or had a more successful season.

RG69 will be pleased.

Ricardo Rodriguez has said he'd be interested in joining Arsenal.

'Rici has stated that his future is not with us, ' Allofs (sporting director) told Swiss newspaper Blick. 'But we can live with this decision. '

Ricardo said on the possibility of joining arsenal:

'I don't know where I'll be going, everything's still open, ' he said. 'It's also not impossible to continue at Wolfsburg, even though it might be unrealistic right now.

'There are many big clubs. The English clubs have a lot of money, Spain is a great league.

'That'd be exciting, yes, especially as we'd have already solved the rooming question at Arsenal. '

CS - I don't believe that he will join us. Firstly, I cannot see Wenger paying the reported £19m release fee for a LB. Secondly, Wenger extended Monreal's contract and is his first choice LB. The replacement would be for Gibbs, who reportedly wants to be first choice. If Wenger is replacing Gibbs, I would expect a young British player, such as Chilwell. Finally, our transfer deals generally tend to be done quietly, whilst Rodriguez is pushing for the move through the media, which I doubt Wenger will appreciate. To conclude, my opinion is that a first choice LB is needed, of superior quality to either LB we currently have. Wenger appears to want a replacement for Gibbs, if he leaves, as back up.

Can someone please explain, why we appear only able to loan players who are clearly not returning to play at the club, such as Debuchy, Jenkinson and Szczesny, opposed to selling them?

Believable6 Unbelievable2

15 Jun 2016 10:44:19
Jenkinson will probably stay at least for a season. Debuchy isn't exactly young so who wants him now.

Agree2 Disagree6

15 Jun 2016 11:15:39
I'm not sure all those players will leave though mate!
I think Jenko will stay for another year as cover, as CS says.

Szczesny still has a future here, he's only 25 (I think) and Cech is 34, so we could still see Shezza as number 1 in the future!

Debuchy is, old, again as CS says and he's on a high wage for 'smaller' clubs, who'd be willing to take him.

Agree1 Disagree3

15 Jun 2016 12:05:56
Jenkinson - Out injured until mid-nov. He was sent out on loan for the last 2 seasons. I do not believe we will see him play for the first team again.
Debuchy - At 30, is still a sought after RB, but he must have fallen out with Wenger, so I doubt he will be at the club next season
Szczesny - Still a very immature keeper. After his smoking incidents, I can't see him back at the club.
My question was, why do we loan out these players, instead of selling them?

Agree2 Disagree1

15 Jun 2016 12:48:58
I believe that question was already answered. But in case you're interested, while Jenkinson was at west ham, we rejected an offer from them for jenkinson. Debuchy went to Bordeaux on loan. If he was sought after, he certainly wouldn't have gone there. And shezza, as D said, who knows what arsenes plan is for him? And cech's plans for that matter. For all we know cech could vs planning on retiring at the end of his current contract. Szcezsny can still be a fantastic goalkeeper.

Agree2 Disagree3

15 Jun 2016 13:10:39
CS - I don't believe my question was answered. I asked, why we loan them out, instead of selling them?
In respect of Debuchy, I believe he want to a French club, as he is French and wanted to impress the French national manager, in order to try and get into the French Euro squad. Man U tried to sign him, quite rightly we refused let him join them. He is only 30, hardly past it. There were others after him, I seem to recall Roma were interested as well.
I don't recall an acceptable offer being put forward for Jenkinson and I can't see him being in Wenger's plans.
Szczesny may become a decent keeper when he matures mentally, but I cannot see him returning to Arsenal, whilst Wenger is manager.
The crux of the question is not whether these players have a future at Arsenal, as I don't believe they do. It is why are we unable to sell players, such as these three and have to loan them out.

Agree1 Disagree2

15 Jun 2016 13:35:06
Because we see their future with us or other teams find the package undesirable. I believe that was strongly implied in the posts. Sorry if it was unclear. OK.

15 Jun 2016 14:14:41
Not sure where the OK came from at the end of my post?

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jun 2016 14:23:57
CS - Thanks for clarification. However, it makes little sense not to be able to sell Debuchy and Szczesny, who could surely be sold, as they have virtually no chance of returning to the club. Perhaps, the truth is that we gave these players long deals on high wages, which means the clubs that could afford their wages and a transfer fee, want superior players, whilst the clubs that took them on loan, could afford their wages, but not a transfer on top. Or they took advantage of Arsenal's weak negotiating, since Dein &Fiszman departed.

Agree2 Disagree2

15 Jun 2016 13:38:59
They are all on more money than their abilty isn't worth to other teams who won't pay their wages, the players won't take a cut to move. So we are stuck with them because no one want to pay. If they did they would be sold.

Agree1 Disagree1

15 Jun 2016 14:41:03
That is what I meant by 'undesirable package'. If debuchy for example has 2 years left of his contract and is on 80k, he's not going to leave for a contract worth less than that. We paid 10 million for him, what, 2 years ago. Who is going to pay a transfer fee of say 5 million, then match his wages on a 2 year or longer contract? Not many teams in France can afford that, or Spain or Italy for that matter.
I don't think it was poor negotiation on our part, as when we signed him he was a very good option. The problem was the emergence of Bellerin and debuchy not wanting to play second fiddle. Who'd have predicted Bellerins progress?

As for jenks, I rate him so we have differing opinions on that.

And shezza, like I said, who knows Wenger/ cechs plans. Or maybe its a similar situation to debuchy, ie high wages long contact.

Agree1 Disagree2

15 Jun 2016 16:07:14
I know you meant that cs just put a different slant on it. Regards jenko firstly isn't he long term injured at mo, plus before he went to the hammers we gave him a payrise and in a different way the same applies to him. He is still in progression and not the finished article, ; so he would cost a large fee for sale and again for what he has done so far, not an attractive prospect to the teams he coukd move to.

Since we all want to see Ed 02 back any chance you could start an Ed 02 rumours/ banter page!
He has total control and can ban/ block/ delete anyone he likes.

{Ed002's Note - I already have total control - you seem to forget that I am omnipotent.}

Omnipotent, brilliant word Ed002! I admire and respect you for standing your ground and assertively managing idiots that challenge this great site, but do you have any plans to return to the Arsenal page? The other Ed's do a fantastic job, but without your insight this page isn't as desirable, and likely to lose regular readers eventually. I have no idea who the 'problem children' are/ were, but hopefully they have gone now.

Peace Out!

I'd say for the time being stick to the european pages. Its no real hassle. And if you have question about a certain player, ask for info on that player rather than 'are arsenal interested'.
