Of all the things i'm happy about and that's most things, that for me is the first downer of our managers reign. Its something i don't understand at all. He is without doubt one of the reasons we were flakey this last two seasons. i'm baffled to put it mildly. I don't rate him one little bit.

You can count the number of positive comments he received last season on the fingers of one hand but then bang! The season ends and he comes wonderful?

Glenn, if he doesn't improve he won't play, so i suppose its up to the manager to work that out. I just hope it doesn't mean we aren't getting an nzonzi type midfielder as well as torreira. That for me is a necessity we can not do without.

Ronaldo is amazing. What a brilliant game of football we just watched! Xhaka will always divide opinion but hey let’s get behind the team and see who plays well and who doesn’t like we do every year! He will be able to play where he’s confortable and won’t be relied on as our only defensive midfielder even though he isn’t one in the first place. Him and Torreira, Torreira and Ramsey will be a good partnership 👌🏻.

Ronaldo us an unbelievably talent Lads he lead his country supported by his team mates to the best of their ability against a brilliant Spain it's Messi turn tomorrow to show the world how good he is.
As for Xhaka I'm starting to feel sorry for him Glen because some Arsenal fans are turning him into a joke by pretending the last 2 seasons haven't happend where he has been extremely poor.
The pretence really does nothing to take the pressure off the lad it just puts the spotlight on him where his mistakes get more and more noticed.

Emery seems to have studied our team and knows what works - if he thinks by adding steal next to Granit then great. Hop that gives us the balance needed.

Leno - Bellerin, Papa, Soyuncu, Nacho - Torreira and Granit - Ozil - Lacca, PEA and Mkhitaryan.

Nice balance and power while still having a creative edge. still leaves a few good squad players also.

Gotze has a never ending injury list and was diagnosed with a stomach disorder that kept him out for nearly a whole season. Brilliant player but a dampened career which has been highly unfortunate. Would be great to have him but I’m not sure if it’s too much of a risk 🤔.

Arsenal have confirmed one transfer to date, the free transfer of Lichtsteiner. However reports that we will sign Sokratis on 1st July, as well as reports coming from Italy that we have tied up the Torreira deal. It was reported that the Sokratis deal was being confirmed on 1st July for financial reasons relating to Dortmund. Could it be that we need these sales to take place after the 1st July for our own financial implications, possibly in relation to FFP? Why is after July 1st considered an important date for it's financial implications?

Having done some research I believe I now have the answer to my question; Many transfer windows do not open until 1st July, including the German and Italian windows, so transfers cannot officially be completed until 1st July, depsite the PL window being open. Lichtsteiner was a free, so presumably it fell outside the Italian official window opening and within the PL window. In addition many players contracts run until the last day of June, so 1st July makes sense.

Ozil, Ramsey, Aubameyang and Lacazette-the squad's four best attacking players. but can they all be on the pitch together and all be effective? Would like to see it tried assuming none of them are sold prior to the start of the season.

You'd need two really good solid cm players to make it work and currently we have none as last season showed repeatedly.
It's like anything else in my opinion if you haven't got the parts to make exactly what you want you've got to make the best of what you've got to achieve a ballance that gives you a chance.
It's no good trying to run a top of the range petrol sports car on agricultural red diesel and push bike tyres simply because you like the look of the motor:-)
