Just a quick comment on the Bayern game, I don't mean to be negative but that (let's be honest) dodgey win has hidden some major floors and we forgot about our recent poor run. Yes we defended brilliantly but unfortunatly that will probably be a one off this season.

Anyway some perfect results mean Chelsea and Spurs have crowed fixtures and tough games ahead. I can see points dropped definatly. But we need at least 8 wins from our last 10 games. Man U and maybe Swansea/Everton only exception.
I genuinley doubt we will see Wilshere again this season. Diaby might make a brief appearence. I really want to see Wenger try a 442 for the remaining games.

Fabianski
Jenkinson - Koscielny - Vermaelen - Gibbs
Cazorla - Ramsey - Arteta - Rosicky
Giroud - Podolski

Szeszecncy, Sagna, Mertersacker, Monreal, Coquelain, Ox and Walcott all available to rotate. I think Rosicky still has a lot to offer. Walcott needs to earn his place.

Also the media have really been grinding my gears. Firstly when reporting on Wilshere all they care about is he'll miss pathetic WC qualifiers, did they not think actually this might affect Arsenal too. Secondly they're questioning Szeszecncys place because he got dropped once, why try unsettle him?

On we go, 3 points this weekend. Arsenal to win 2-0 Giroud brace.

team for swansea

. fab
jenko merti kosci gibbs (monreal if injured)

. coquelin
walcott rosicky ox
. giroud podolski

subs
szecs cazorla verm arteta ramsey gervinho

the back line should be given the opportunity to play together again barring gibbs if injured. they deserve there chance after probably arsenals most committed defensive performance of the season against bayern.
coquelin should play the defensive role in midfield because arteta is getting slower and needs a rest, the same goes for cazorla and ramsey they both need a rest. walcott and ox will provide the width and pace and rosicky should be give a run while jacks away. he will chase back rather than wave his hands in the air like cazorla if he loses the ball. upfront we should make the swansea defence work put podolski and giroud upfront and make a nuisance of themselves. let's be positive and blow the spurs and chelskis out and take up a top 4 position. just show the same fight as they did against bayern and we should win all our remaining games (yes that includes utd).

COYG a rejuvenated gunner who wants to see the same committment they showed against bayern week in week out.

the papers are saying we need a clearout and I agree.
bring in a capoue sakho wanayma isco jovetic richards cesar even nasri and we will have a top quality team and squad.
take out the mannone fabi sagna squillaci djorou bendtner denilson chamakh diaby arshavin gervinho and even vermaelan and arteta just bring in players that want to give 100% and not worry about the opposition but just go out there and show us their talent and win honours.

I don't understand all this speculation about Szczesny's dropping, will he leave this and that. Cech has made countless mistakes over the last two seasons, yet still Chelsea's no1, and united's De Gea well let's just say he's nowhere near the class of previous united keepers yet.

The problem is we are arsenal and everything we do gets negative media attention and speculation, our own manager can't make decisions for the team without the press poking their nose into our affairs, had Fergie dropped De Gea for Lindergaard would he have had all these questions speculating about De gea's future? I think not, it would have been seen as another day at the office.

Fab
Jenks Mert Kos Gibbs

Should be our defense moving forward.

I would also have no problem using Monreal as a wingback in front of Gibbs

Ramsey should play over Arteta against the top teams, Mikel's age has caught up. He is still a class act and should be applauded

I think Fab can be a world class keeper for us, he deserves his shot. Shezza is still very young and will get his shot eventually but he has mechanics he's got to fix

Tommy V, enjoy the bench at Barca

Hello Ed and fellow Gooners, just got in from work and started to read some of the recent posts about the calibre of players coming in and some of our existing players. First of all we have to be very careful how we open the cheque book, because once you pay the excessive transfers fees and obscene wages once or twice theirs know going back has we have seen with City, Utd and Chelski. We the fans have to be comfortable with going down that road. We lost players like Mata, Hazard and so forth because we were blown out of the water by the wages the others were offering. I also think that will be the scenario this summer, if players like Fellaini, Goetze or any of the top class players become avaliable. To be fair to Utd its also the lure of playing for them that attracts players, with the others its just plain greed. I personally think what is more worrying is that players like Verthonghen have chosen a club who probaly plays less wages than us not in the champions league, (I DID HEAR HEAR A RUMOUR ABOUT VERTHONGHEN THAT HE TURNED US DOWN BECAUSE AW WANTED HIM TO PLAY DM AND HE DID NOT FANCY IT)but if that was not true it is very worrying considering also that TV5 could not persuade him to join. The matter of Chezza to me is plain and simple, he has no competetion, despite Fabianski, s excellent performance the other night. Diaby I am afaid is never going to hack in my opinion, and it was wrong for AW not to get a top quality dm in the summer. Which brings me to the players that we are missing out on, players like Cabaye and Cisse who did not cost the earth and well within our wage structure. I find it very hard to believe that we went to Lille and watched Gervinho/Hazard a dozen times and did not notice Cabaye. Lastly the very thing that AW was known for, the bringing of young players and making them stars has gone in favour of overpaid overhyped dross, in doing so players like Eisfeld who fits exactly into the previous AW way of finding young talent, turning them into world class footballers, who were also LOYAL to us. I know he has been unlucky with some of his buys thru injuries (i. e. Eduardo, Diaby and Rosicky)but nevertheless, some of his recent buys have been shocking. I do feel and hope we get Champions League next season and see a massive overhaul in the summer on both player and coaching staff. let's hope we can drive on from Wednesday night and get 3 points at Swansea tomoorow.
Thanks for the site Ed

Never thought I'd see the day where a fellow Arsenal fan accuses me of being a spud after I come on here and apologise for my absence due to a massive interview. Unbelievable. Eds, how you even let that post through is absurd. Also, people who follow up perfectly debatable sentences with 'FACT!' need to go back to school. I really haven't missed the site these last few days, I've had way more important things to focus on like my future. The fact that I took any time out of my last minute prep to watch the game would be called absurd by most people who care about their careers. Louis whateveryournumberis well done for making me realise that there are way more important things in life than the small minded jokers that post on this site. P. s. for your info the Eds will confirm that I normally post from an IP in Wales and my last post would be sited in Holloway, London, before you go on accusing me of lying.

It's been good guys. All the best. This will be my last post and I am sure that's not an issue to you small-minded one-sentence wonders. Eds, and the posters who have contributed to my enjoyment of the site, thanks so much for all your input. I'm going to now get on with my life instead of stressing over a money-grabbing joke of a football club that couldn't give a toss about you or me or any other fan for that matter, and a fan base so stuck in the dark ages it's actually embarrassing. Will always be an Arsenal fan, will never be as obsessive as I have been over the last few years, am no longer going to let something I can't change be such a source of frustration and stress as I have done. Thanks everyone for the great debate. Enjoy the site.

Metal,

Just going to say I hope your not being serious because I actually enjoy your posts. I like coming on here and reading through the different opinions that people have and making up my own mind.

Ur posts are definitely interesting and if some people don't agree with what you have to say that should not be a problem. Ppl need to realize that there is a difference between having a discussion and having an argument, and that it is perfectly fine for people to respectfully disagree and share ideas.

You obviously have passion for the club and I hope you continue to post your thoughts and opinions.

That's the thing though mate I don't enjoy it - I was hooked on this site for so long I am on here all day every day while I work from home and I just talk balls and nobody really cares anyway plus I can't change anything and nor can anyone else. Sick of people supporting Wenger it's a joke. The Bayern game proved so much - that he consistently mis-uses our squad and actually he should have more faith in the squad players who can still offer something different. Sick of the same sh!t happening every season and it never changing and people say 'but he deserves more respect' no he bloody doesn't! He is revered the world over for what he achieved YEARS ago in another age in footballing terms. How much more respect does he need? And the media were totally right to make a complete mockery of our prices and ownership set up comparing us to Bayern the other day and I applaud them for it. I am sick of supporting a guy who outright ignores the talent at his disposal, he's the most stubborn non-adaptable tw4t managing a top team and he is personally responsible for so much wasted emotion on my part. All I've ever tried to do is start conversations on here and you get d!ckheads calling me out who basically never post except to put someone else down and I just think 'seriously if we were in a pub and you wouldn't speak to me like that' and these guys support the team I love and have done for no explainable reason since I was really young, all the more miraculously as mum is a spud and I can't even rinse her a the moment. The club doesn't bring me much joy, I get far too involved, feel absolutely rotten when the team can't be arsed like f***ing WALCOTT the waste, and then I come on here and there's some gimp laying in to me under an apology. What kind of small minded tosser doesn't have the gumption to wish me good luck? If any poster on here said they'd just had a 5 hour interview I'd be the first saying to them I hope it went well. Does me posting on here change anything at AFC? No. Do people really care if I post or not? No. Does it mean anything in the overall scheme of life that I stop posting? No. Would rather ring a mate I haven't spoken to for years than write another post on here. I cba anymore mate. Enjoy the site, keep posting your heroic rants that I rarely agree with LOL and keep up the spirit. From now on if people want to call me a Spud then it'll be behind my back because I'm done, it's been near 3 years of the same sh!t different fans. I'm not visiting the page again, nobody even has worthwhile transfer news. Peace

To Metal Gooner, Some of what you say really resonates with me. At times a sense frustration with the Wenger situation and a sense of frustration with those who keep making excuses for him. The fact that we got a worthless result against Bayern on Wednesday and some people are seemingly delighted by this. We needed to score 3 times yet only managed 2 meaningful attempts on goal - and one of those came too late. None of it alters the fact that we are currently in the midst of a massive slump that shows no sign of abating. Especially when people with alternative, possibly progressive, opinions get shouted down. There are some who seem to be in denial and think that Wenger should be given a life-time's honourary role as permanent manager. Delusional.
Questions need to be asked and your imput will be missed by me.

Again, trying to put a positive spin on things!

We have been graced with the best set of results from our closest opposition in the prem.

If I could pick the results before they happened I would have picked

Spurs lose in Prem
Chelsea Draw in Fa Cup
Spurs go Extra time in Europa but Win
Chelsea go Extra time in Europa but Win
Europa League Draw to have them Travelling

Now this basically happened, apart from Chelsea extra time, but they travel to Russia of all places.

For both Spurs and Chelsea, their April Fixtures are Horrific:

Spurs Home to Basle
Spurs Home to Everton
Spurs Away to Basle
Spurs Away to CHELSEA
Spurs Home to Man C
Spurs Away to Wigan

Chelsea Home to Man U
Chealse Home to Rubin
Chelsea Home to Sunderland
Chelsea Away to Rubin
Chelsea Home to SPURS
Chelsea Away to Liverpool
Chelsea Home to Swansea

April will be where it all happens for me.

But none of this matters if we don't win our matches, I am 100% certain they will drop points between now and the end of the season, we just have to make sure we drop as few as possible.

Lots of ifs and buts, but it gives me hope. 7 points behind Spurs with a game in hand, win that game and its game on!

noobGooner

Believable16 Unbelievable2

Well quite honestly spurs have been winning as bale has been a one man cristiano ronaldo lite.

if we win the swansea game and they draw or lose, we are in the tie.

chelsea have a lot of players who can make the final push. and they have been here before and pushed on.

i would say we have to win all our home games and win away as well. 30 points from 30 is not possible with this squad. their lack of conentration means we will draw or lose 1-2.

we need to make sure we take atleast 25 points from 30 and we could be in a tie breaker if that happens.

i see spurs lose another 3 games. which will give us that tie breaker. anything can happen even us completely losing it.

Can someone please tell me what happened to Eisfeld, he seemed like he was progressing pretty well, I thought he would have been in the squad by now.

Well anyway AW hasn't had the same amount of confidence he's had in previous seasons to experiment with young kids and he's team selection has been rather safe each game with the exception of the bayern game, mainly because he's back has been to the wall since the season started with tryna replace RvP and song and then fabregas and Nasri the seasons past. He always finds a gem and unfortunately this season he hasn't been as free.

I just can't wait for pre-season (I know that sounds bad). I have always been an arsenal supporter and well frankly speaking I can't see past AW. This is the man who stands at the epicentre of all the highs (2 cup doubles) (unbeaten season) (thierry henry, well he's not a trophy but I just love to brag about how AW discovered one of the greatest all-round players ever) in my arsenal supporting life. And he also stands at the epicentre of all the lows. (8-2) (bradford) (birmingham).

Well I guess now would be the most ideal time to change managers but if we could just stand by him for 1 more season I think we would be better off. Stay strong Gunners.

In arsene I trust and so should you.

Guys, I've said it time and time again here, for the past two years consistently. Szczesny is rubbish. I'm sick of people coming on here giving me abuse to the contrary. He's the worst number one we've ever had and it's absolutely a no brainer that Fabianski (himself not great) keeps the gloves. It was also great to see Vermaelen dropped and wasn't it noticible how big Per performed better without these two.
My final observation is another fairly obvious one. Arteta's been great for us in a filling in kind of way, but he's not top four quality. Good guy, ok player, but time to look at an alternative style of midfielder who can mix it up. Wanyama of Celtic's not the answer, not by a long shot, and I trust and want Wenger to get it right in the summer. We all have good times and bad times at work, and he deserves another chance. I honestly believe he's finally learnt his lesson with regards what we need.

Believable10 Unbelievable5

I disagree that Chesney is our worst number one ever. He's better than Fab and Alumunia but he's not quite up to it yet. I think he needs a year or too which is why we need to sign someone like Cesar.

Agree about Arteta. Good but not great player and not quite the right type of midfielder we need either. Happy to have in the squad though but he shouldn't be a first choice.

Agree5 Disagree3

Personally I think we signed arteta 2 or 3 years to late

Abuse?

Shez is still very young for a goalkeeper and WILL be great, to call him 'Rubbish' is abuse!

He has made a few mistakes lately but EVERY goalkeeper makes mistakes, that does not make them rubbish.

I agree with first reply, we need to sign an experienced keeper to in their twilight years to push him and that he can learn from as well.

Greetings and salutations my fellow Gooners,

So how do we feel after an interesting night in Munich? Some feel that a loss is still just that, a loss! Some feel this was a fantastic effort and should be applauded. As for myself I feel satisfied to an extent with our victory despite the exit as I believe the result was due to our relaxed approach knowing their was little opportunity to advance (historically never been done) and Bayern's arrogance/cautiousness to the situation.

My issue this entire season beyond the Arsene/Board debate has centered around two issues: 1. The squad selection and 2. The effort. With regards to the squad selection I believe Arsene to a fault is almost too loyal to his regulars. While some of his decisions last evening were made due to injury I would prefer that they would be based more on merit. As such I hope that those who played in Munich would get a continuous run until otherwise warranted. 2. Those who played last night for the most part showed a commitment that I believe on too many occasions this season has lacked.

In conclusion as I will keep this brief, I believe the result will be a catalyst for our remaining games. I am confident that we will finish in the top four and that the necessary changes in personnel will happen in the summer which will enable us to compete moving forward with our English core signed and in tact!

Gunners4Life, In AW we trust!

Believable4 Unbelievable6

Guns4life

you can't have it both ways bud - it is top 4 or changes. finishing in the top 4 will mean there will be no changes. the last 7 years have proven this.

and of course aw has shown too much loyalty to pi$$ poor players, because he effing bought them for fortunes and paid them millions for his own mediocre crusade.

how can anyone say "in aw we trust" when we know aw has pocketed at least £50m without even threatening any kind of trophy. he doesn't care about the fans, he only cares about the board and the dividends the shareholders get. he is not a football manager anymore.

you list the problems as 1) squad selection. 2) effort. this is wenger's job! why is aw always talking about something else be it ffp, doping, global recessions, the stadium, other team's players, inconvenient international games? because he has lost the plot.

wenger can go and he take your greetings and salutations with him.

in aw we rust

topgooner

Agree6 Disagree7

Topgooner that may be true to an extent. But AW is still 100% the man for the job. The results against Bayern shows that. His only downfall is that he has bought some poor players recently, or the players that he has bought have not been given a chance by the fans. Have a look at Gervinho's record at Lille. This guy is better than we have seen. AW's main mistakes was thinking Giroud can be the only 1st team Striker for a top 4 side, and keeping faith in Diaby instead of buying a DM. And even with that we are still in touching distance from Spurs who are playing to their full potential this season.

What player in their right mind would join us for a wage of 60 - 80 thousand a week, when Chelski, $hity & Manchester United are willing to offer 120 - 150 thousand a week!
Players we lost over wage negotiations in the past like Mata & Hazard, as well as some of our own (you don’t need me to mention their names).
Now thinking that the money we will be getting to spend in the summer is too little too late. Clubs and Agents will be offering players at over-inflated Prices knowing that we need to strengthen up in certain positions.
I myself like the fact that the group of players we have are gunners because they want to be, not just for what they can cream out of the club!
Join Arsenal to play for the team not just to get in the shop window and for personal gain. Yes I know money talks and every player has to look after their finances and make sure that they themselves aren’t getting ****** over!

It’s now time for a change at the club as in manager, board and some players. I love Wenger for the years he has given (when he could have walked) and what he has done for the club, but when a loyalist like me wants to see changes. It must be time!

SkaVadar

Believable2 Unbelievable4

There are only a few clubs that can and do offer better wages than us, they have unhappy players like Na$ri and Dzeko sitting on their benches on 150k+ per week.

These players are going to realise that not playing football will ruin their careers and their chances of playing for their country.

I would rather play every week for AFC for 100k than sit on the bench for 3 or 4 years on 150k, then nobody will want you at all and the following 5 years you will get 20-30k per week somewhere else.

Simple maths: (approx figures)

AFC 100K per week
Citeh 150K per week

5 year deal after tax etc

AFC £ 15M
Citeh £ 22M

Following 5 years

AFC - Pay rise as you play week in week out and are an international player

Citeh - Sold to spurs and given 50k per week to be hated by the fans

Need we say more?
