Anyone else see that piece in the DM concerning our possible away kit for next season? Its the goldish Puma one.
If that's anything like what they are planning for us then I am looking forward to our partnership with them

Lwi

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I like it but hard to believe Puma would use a Nike football

The Nike trademark is bigger than Puma's!

Has to be fake

SY4

Agree0 Disagree0

I take that back : (

I actually went back to read the piece, its not official and not from or by Puma.
Just a creative fan

Lwi

Agree0 Disagree0

Isn't the nike deal valid for next season?

Next season will be our last with nike?

So no announcement or kits would be released till next year

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah I saw the kit too, definitely a fake. Made by a gooner who's a pro at paintshop.

However, I do love the kit and possibley one of the best kits I've seen! The kid deserves a job at Nike better than the tat they produce!

Neelg3

Agree0 Disagree0

Next season the kit is made by Nike, so I doubt it'll have a Puma logo on it at all

Agree0 Disagree0

Thank God, because that kit has truly horrendous, but at least I know now what Jack would look like dressed as a Quality Street Toffee Penny

1404

Agree0 Disagree0

Its for 2014/15 season good looking but fake tho

Well as much as well hate Chelsea and their ways, got to admit they do know how to win a trophy or two! Shame really!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'm sure your cabinet would be full if you spent a billion of abramovic s money too.
I know the price of silver is high on the markets at the mo, but the price abramovic pays for it is just obscene.

Agree0 Disagree0

20mil per trophy is roughly what he has spent.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2013 09:28:15
and FYI, arsenal to have spend some good money in the past. too many 10-15 mill pound signings. which isn't good enough.
a top 4 club should atleast win something a peice of gold in 8 years.

Arsenal need:

goalkeeper
Right back
Centre back
Defensive midfielder
Wide/attacking midfielder ( possibly)
Striker (s)

Fill the spaces with who you see fit.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

So basically your saying we need a complete new squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

Realistic additions

Adler
Janmaat (Only if Sagna leaves)
Williams
Wanyama
Jovetic/Ilicic
Higuain

Agree0 Disagree0

No I thinks Gibbs and Monreal are safe LOL

Agree0 Disagree0

GK -yes
RB - yes only if Sagna leaves
CB - yes only if TV leaves.
Def Mid - Yes.
One or two attacking players - yes.

GK, RB and CB would be no net spend as I suspect players leaving those positions to play for ones coming in. Only a Def Mid and some attacking players need some cash to be splashed.

Agree0 Disagree0

Valdez / Vorm
No RB promote from within
Williams or Richard (if cheap enough)
Wanyama / TV5
Ben Afra/ greziman
Rooney/ Higuain

Rooney is a real sign of intent and would raise a lot of people opinions on arsenals ambitions, feel Jenkinson is ready look at Gibbs and Clichy and Shez when they were given the chance, TV5 is rumoured to be working on this position in training and would be welcome IMO a he had good attacking threat aswell

GK I either want a top goalie like Valdez or a 3 yr feel in till Shez is ready. Valdez has won everything and is a good goalie IMO and Vorm is a decent EPL goalie that would help mature shez

Vamos Benfica!
Flybo

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Benfica can play. Love the way they move the ball

Wonder if we could get Gaitan cheap? Love Garay's game too

Agree0 Disagree0

Gaitain is the most overrated player I have ever watched in my life. 45m they wanted for him a few seasons ago. He'd get eaten alive in the prem, Jarvis s***s all over him.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 May 2013 18:16:06
We are nowhere near 4th without Aaron Ramsey

Last year it was Rosicky

This year, second half of the season best player has been Ramsey. He has done everything asked of him and more, considering we have been without Jack a while now. He rarely gets the glory, but has been the driving force behind everything

Also, hats off to Kos and BFG

As of right now, I consider them the best duo in the Prem and our backbone next season

Arteta,

I give Arteta a lot of stick for being slow. Maybe it's because a quicker Arteta would be starting for Spain, I'm convinced of it. But you look at that guy, how class a footballer and teammate he is, and what a gentleman off the pitch, it's an absolute pity he was not a part of at least 1 of the 3 Spain trophies

Everyone should cheer for class acts like Arteta

Finally,

Sagna, best right back we have ever had. World class footballer, outstanding teammate, model athlete on and off pitch, absolute Gunner

If that's the last time he ever plays at the Emirates, it's the departure of another absolute world class Gunner legend

He looked like he belonged within 5 min of taking the pitch in 07. Till today, he has always been our guy. You're the best Baks! Was an absolute privilege.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Nice post.
Flybo

Agree0 Disagree0

Ramsey is becoming a really good player now and I for 1 have never slated him or put him down because we all know how good he really is
Ali

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm sorry but Sagna is not the best right back we've ever had. Both Dixon and Lauren were better.

That's not just because Sagna has been awful this year.

Either way it was still a pleasure. It looked like his last home game. I wish him well.

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you watching the same games pal? Week in week out Ramsey is sloppy in possesion. He gives away needless free kicks in dangerous areas and often picks up yellow cards for these offences. He will also often attempt to dribble around the opposition which he simply isn't capably off, which means that we lose possesion again. I could go on. His shooting.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2013 08:27:44
good post agree with most except sagna, would prefer lauren all day long

Agree0 Disagree0

Lee dixon and pat rice were much better than sagna

Agree0 Disagree0

Perhaps you don't watch arsenal play, to give the lad the credit he deserves. what about the thousands singing his name? does no one know about football, but you to say negative things about ramsey.

everyone gives the ball away sometimes. its the fact that he outworks everyone else and people slate him.

for me its the promising outlook of having ramsey and wilshere in the middle. spicy.

Agree0 Disagree0

I am not sure what game you guys are watching but I saw Ramsey lose and give the ball away around 15 times against Wigan. Yes, he's tries hard but IMO he is still not good enough to start in our midfield.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ramsey got arsenal player of the month, so to the person that said his play is sloppy must be watching different games, ok some of his passes don't always go to the players but every one does it, I think people are to hard on Rambo and he's improved so much

Agree0 Disagree0

Unless your xavi your bound to have a few bad passes I just think people notice it more because its ramsey if jack or arteta played a few sloppy passes it wouldn't get mentioned. Lay off the kid he's improved immensely give him some credit eh?!

greetings fellow gooners and eds,

so very proud of the team for a spirited performance, special praise goes out to sczeszny, kos, ramsey, and walcott even though the whole team played well and made us fans so proud.

but at the same time I feel very sad for wigan, they play attractive football, keep possession and go forward.

it is sad that a team like wigan who plays such a wonderful brand of football gets relegated while teams like stoke who play ugly batter-ram football get to stay up.

life is not fair and neither is football,
everyone have a wonderful day,
peace,

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The league is over 38 games though mate, and if you're third from bottom after 37, you deserve to be there. I like Wigan, don't get me wrong, but they've been flirting with relegation year in year out, too good to go down? Nah, too bad to stay up. Wish them well for next season though.

Think it's fair to say, in light of recent events, Loic Remy won't be coming to Arsenal now.

Stewart

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What happened to innocent until proven guilty?

Agree0 Disagree0

No such thing with wenger. if he's innocent, it will be his lack of judgement to have thug friends or some other excuse.

anyway we have theo. we don't need another player of the same kind.

i want clinical finisher, and whoever that maybe.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 May 2013 14:49:32
Wenger didn't want Remy because of his lifestyle and attitude off the pitch.

There's been a few missed signings we've regretted from Wenger, but he is a great judge of character {Ed027's Note - Mvilla too

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Paul I think it has more to do with the fact that in the summer the price for him was 18m Euros, and in Jan Wenger had no intention of spending any money.

Agree0 Disagree0

You would be surprised to find out how some managers, hire private investigators, to follow players before signing them.

i read some articles about alexis sanchez, pique, di natale, rooney, being followed around.

i even remember ca$hley cole saying that privacy was an issue at arsenal back in the hey days.

Amidst all these play off talks, just wondering:
if they decide the 3rd promotion to premier league by a play off between teams ranking 3rd to 6th why do they not have a play off for relegation from the premier league?
Teams ranking 15th to 18th should have a play off, losers of the semi final play each other and the eventual loser is relegated.
I am feeling bad that we are the team to have put the last nail for Wigan, but then comforting myself that they have the FA cup and Europa league next season and a good team to bounce straight back up.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't know why people feel so bad for relegated clubs. AT the end of the day they get paid huge money in parachute payments.

Wolves, for example, will earn £48m over 4 years from the prem if they stay out of the prem.

Not surprised some managers argue that parachute payments should be scrapped as they make it easier for teams to bounce back up to the premier league.

There's no actual evidence to suggest that though.

Especially when some teams are relegated in successive seasons.

I am sad Wigan aren't in the prem next season but I am sure they'll bounce back up.

Play-offs for relegation would be absolutely amazing. I'd love that.

Agree0 Disagree0

^^

Dont know why people feel sorry for teams that get relegated. then go on to say you feel sad for Wigan being relegated?

Ed, I saw on another rumours site that one of the Eds said that Arsenal were pressing for a deal for Maxime Gonalons, what's your view?

Cheers {Ed027's Note - Well I was told by the special Celtic Ed, that we had a deal in place for Wanyama done last summer, but after Celtic got CL, it scuppered it. We've been of the assumption that we would go back for him, but prices have increased and so has interest (Man City), it's been a years so i'd imagine other have been looked at, Gonalos could well be possible,. Remember last summer Mvilla was the top target, until Grimandi said Wanyama would be a better option, things change

Believable0 Unbelievable0

15 May 2013 01:14:14
Ed - what is your view on ashley williams? He's been good for Swansea but will he be good enough for us? {Ed027's Note - Top centre back, exactly what we need, if we can keep TV5 we'll have 4 top Cb's, all of which offer something different, Williams is the British presence that we have needed

Believable0 Unbelievable0

15 May 2013 12:33:30
The Premier League has confirmed there will be a third-place play-off match between Chelsea and Arsenal if the pair end the season with identical records. Scary!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Thats not really scary, its an opportunity!

As long as our players see this the same way we will be fine.

Just read as well that if we lose 15-0 and spurs draw 6-6 then there will be a play off for 4th. I won't hold my breath on that though!

For a defensive midfielder, how about Liam bridcutt from brighton? He is supremely talented and would be just the type of player arsenal need (a playmaker type who is very willing and able to put in a tackle or a block). Would be a classic wenger signing as well as although Brighton would want a decent sum for him (around £7mil I should think), that could be a real bargain for the potential he has. Also, as he is from poyet's Brighton, he plays proper football, so should fit easily into the arsenal style.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If that's not a joke that's very worrying!

SM1996

I hope this is a joke

not bad.

Santi- 12 goals 13assists
Poldolski 16 goals 11 assists
Giroud 17 goals 10 assists
Theo 21 goals 14 assists

Mr Jay

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Highlights a nice balance in the goal scoring. Problem is that we against the bigger teams we tend to concede too many and particularly at home.

Agree0 Disagree0

What's mad is that people have often said we're short up top and lacking star quality, which I agree with. but we have the third best attack in the league. Imagine what a world class striker would give us.

Agree0 Disagree0

Too much information

. for any Gooner not too be P R O U D of!

COYG!

Agree0 Disagree0

How are we still coming 4th with such stats? Surely Spurs don't have 4 players with 10+ goals and assists.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure how true, but the commentator during last nights game claimed that when Kos and BFG have started together we are un beaten going right back to last season, if true that is an amazing stat.

337

Agree0 Disagree0

Its a 17 unbeaten match when those 2 are playing as a pair.

we also haven't conceded from ppen play since march I read the other day

Agree0 Disagree0

15 May 2013 11:01:08
My favourite moments of last night were not the goals.

They were:

Gibbs asserting himself on McManaman early on, showing who is boss. One crunching tackle in particular

And also seeing Theo tracking back a few times, one in particular knocking Espinoza off the ball just to get the throw in.

This is the fighting spirit we have been waiting to see for a while. not afraid to get stuck in.

You can't always control the outcome of games. but all we want to see is fight, effort, dedication. performances and results can be forgiven as long as 100% is given.

Same again on Sunday please.

I have this strong feeling Chelsea will not win on Moyes' farewell. A tired and injured squad could struggle against a strong, in-form Everton. At least we hope so.

3 Points please and then we see were we fall.

noobGooner

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree noob! I fancy Everton to send off Moyes proud.

I also felt that the entire team gave 110% last night in a way I have not seen for the longest time.

They played for the mgr, the team and, most noticeably, I felt that they played their all for the fans.

At 1-1, and experiencing a strong Wigan backlash, I had no fear.

What a joy to behold!

Agree0 Disagree0

15 May 2013 10:58:47
Had Podolski or Walcott been our penalty taker, they could have had totals of up to 22 goals for Podolski or 27 for Theo.
Giroud would have been on something like 24 goals for the season.

Not that Arteta did a bad job or anything, 5 out of 6 is good but knowing what a monster penalty taker Podolski is or the confidence in front of goal which Theo has found, would it not be worth a punt having them take the pens next season?
Would improve their numbers and an excellent boost when you struggling to score in open play.

Lwi

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It was wise to let Arteta be the penalty taker, it kind of compensates his new defensive role by giving him goals and it creates no frustration between the forwards. Wise choice definitely.

Stan

Agree0 Disagree0

The thing is, Arteta is an extremely reliable penalty taker and when you find one, it is foolish to change it for the sake of numbers. Lamps usually always takes them for Chelsea, Baines takes them for Everton and he's not even a forward.

I do agree sometimes it is good to give a player a boost but I dread the thought of Theo taking pens! But letting Podolski or Giroud take one if they're struggling for goals is all good. But when you are desperate for a goal, what do you do? Use your main guy, Arteta, or hope a striker does the deed when they're off the boil?

Good game Gunners. Had me worried at half time and early on in the second half. I hope u all noticed one thing, we are very lethal when on the counter attack. Good game Santi, Scez, Per, Poldi and Kos. Come on Gunners, we can get third!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

15 May 2013 08:25:45
I must say I do love the drama, great game, shout out to wigan as well they played like a team worthy of staying in the epl.

Newcastle left, well they do scare me a bit mainly because they can score goals. Wow theo was awesome yesterday I have to admit, I'v been one of his critics all season long but right now I would not trade him in for anyone. He put in an awesome shift yesterday. All those calling for remy to be bought should seriously check yourselves, him and th14 are the same player.

Can't wait till sunday, big message sent yesterday.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yes Newcastle can be a dangerous side and with no pressure on them they can be be free to express themselves which can make a side play better sometimes.

On the other hand the Newcastle players minds could equally be on the beach somewhere, it can work both ways it is certianly hard for a manager to motivate players when there is nothing on the game, and we have plenty of motivation.

I think if we turn up with the same intensity as we started with against Wigan we will be fine. A couple of early goals would be nice as that will fliter back to Spurs and demoralise them.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 May 2013 06:51:48
"If Chelsea draw Everton 0-0 and we beat Newcastle 2-1, we'll be tied on points and figures with Chelsea, and there will be a play-off at a neutral venue (possibly Wembley) to decide who gets third place. " Is there any truth to this Eds?

Gooner Grant {Ed029's Note - No, it will be Chelsea on the head-to-head results. }

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Think it's been confirmed that the head to head won't be used so will be a play off

Agree0 Disagree0

15 May 2013 09:39:15
No. after goal difference its GOALS scored not head to head.

Agree0 Disagree0

According to Prem League Rules,
Head to Head results do not figure. It's a play-off if all stats are identical.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, premier league, last night said there would be play-off if it ends in that scenario

Agree0 Disagree0

Na prem don't reckonise head to head results, will be a play off

Agree0 Disagree0

No ed, FA have confirmed it will indeed go to a replay

HP

Agree0 Disagree0

Just seen it on sky that it will be a play off, either two legs or one at a neutral venue.

kev88

Agree0 Disagree0

Premier League site says if all is level on points, points diff and goals scored under rule C14 there will be a playoff.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not according to the official rules Ed. The official rules (as confirmed today by the PL) head2head results do NOT come into play.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 May 2013 11:28:26
you're wrong ed, head to head doesn't count if another competition is involved

Agree0 Disagree0

If anyone wants confirmation that there will be a play off if the results are 0-0 in the Chelsea game and we win 2-1 then below is the official rule from the PL.

Play-offs Old Rule
C. 14. If at the end of the Season either the League Champions or the Clubs to be relegated
or the question of qualification for other competitions cannot be determined
because 2 or more Clubs are equal on points, goal difference and goals scored, the
Clubs concerned shall play off one or more deciding League Matches on neutral
grounds, the format, timing and venue of which shall be determined by the Board.

Did anyone notice tv5 playin in defensive midfield today! he might be our defensive midfielder next season.
mohag gunner.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yep?!

Agree0 Disagree0

For 90 seconds. yes we all did!

Churchill Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

What played there for injury time because Arteta had an injury. Yes looks a cert for that position next season! (note - stop this TV for def midfield nonsense!)

Agree0 Disagree0

TV5 for def mid is not nonsense, it's a very good idea, he often looks held back playing in defence and has everything you need of a top DM. Plus he carries the ball well and is no stranger to leaving defence. Just like having wing backs who sometimes play as wingers, if it makes sense then no harm in doing it. TV5 as a def mid would be amazing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Does Wenger like to play players in new positions - Yes (Diaby left midfield, Ramsey everywhere etc. ). Has TV even played more than 3 mins as a def mid - No. I suspect there must be a reason and who knows perhaps he's tried it in practice and it didn't work. Wenger judgement is probably better than ours and he hasn't gone for it seriously so I'm saying its a bad idea.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 May 2013 00:39:56
So we would have a playoff if we are level on points, goal diff and goals scored with Chelsea

And this could feasibly happen

What a season!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Doesn't it go on head to heads and as Chelsea beat us twice they would go above us
