Dags I didn't see the game until today, at work and listening to the droll on arsenal player tells you nothing but I thought second half we played well mainly due to kol and sanchez, we did make hard work of it in the first half and that's a worry again. I expect to win every game and i take winning for granted in life, i just hate losing. I won't see sundays game, i'm playing golf, so you won't see me moaning until at least Sunday evening. Lol.

I quite like your moaning Steve.

At least It's honest.

Do you find that commentator on arsenal player boring as well?

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Sep 2017 11:56:00
D he is awful but it is free and it is arsenal.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Sep 2017 12:23:36
Stuck here in the US as I am, Arsenal Player is my only reliable way to get the live action for every match. Agree with Steve and D, not a great option but better than nothing for me.

Only Alexis Sanchez makes Paul Mersons Arsenal and Chelsea combined best 11.
Apart from Kos it's difficult to argue with it or even make a case for any of our other players.
Or is it? Any takers for this one?

Kolasinac.

It's early days dags but the only other conceivable shout.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Sep 2017 20:16:44
I agree Sanogo, good shout Dags but too soon to say, a few weeks back people were declaring Holding premier league ready but few mention him at the moment.
Kol is of course much older and much more experienced and does look an excellent prospect but much like Chambers Debuchy Mustafi who all hit the ground running when they joined us we will only really know about Kol at the end of this season if he is the real deal.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Sep 2017 20:59:15
G62,
Agree. We could even sweeten the deal and throw Lacazette in there.

Our 2 new boys are looking like our 2 best players.

But, like you said, early days.

15 Sep 2017 21:02:50
Honestly watching holding last year I thought god we have an absolute gem here but he's been awful thus far.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Sep 2017 21:56:51
A lot of our younger players seem to lose confidence after bright starts. Chambers jenko holding iwobi and bellerin have had serious loses of nerve and belief.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Sep 2017 22:10:15
Is Moses better than bellerin?

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Sep 2017 22:28:24
True Sanogo,
Early days yet mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Sep 2017 23:30:05
Well, Moses parted the Red Sea and Bellerin can only part his hair, so yes.

A combined eleven serves no purpose whatsover and last season's results confirm my thoughts, as despite Chelsea arguably supplying 10 of the 11 places, we beat Chelsea 3-0 (League) , 2-1 (FA Cup final) and penalties (Community Shield) , whilst only losing once 3-1 (League) .

I belive we have an excellent squad, bar a top CB and DM. Most of our players are current internationals or in the case of Cech and Mertesacker have chosen to retire from International football. Top teams were reported to be interested in many players if they were available or affordabale.

I believe that our current squad, with the couple of signings mentioned, would be able to compete at the top level if they were managed by Mourinho, Conte or Guardiola.

Keeper-wise - Cech is a legend, but we need to look at replacing him. I would have kept Szczesny to see if he had matured after his loan to Roma. Ospina is not my cup of tea as I don't like short keepers. I would try and sign Butland next season.

Defensively, we have a decent back four - Bellerin, Mustafi, Koscielny and Kolasinac. We need cover at RB and at least one CB, such as Van Dyke.

DM - We need a player such as N'Zonzi and arguably a second proper DM. Playing attacking/ creative midfield players in this position simply doesn't work.

AM - Sorted. Many options. I would like to see if Wilshere can come good.

At - Sorted. Lots of options.

Every so often when a celeb dies, and particularly if they were involved in football, someone will always come on here and say a few words. I was thinking about this the other day and realised we totally forgot about someone.

R. I. P LANESRA

Great guy - shi*e storyteller.

P. S. If doctors were paid as much as footballers, they could have saved him.

In tribute to our dearly departed friend, I ask that everyone thumbs down this post.

{Ed007's Note - He'll be back at some point, that's three times he's died that I know of.}

Jenny and Greeny were quality posters and great fun too.
2013/ 14 season when we were sharing quality banter and respect with the lads like Ken from the Liverpool page was quality.
The fun never stopped that season and threads just ran and ran full of interesting opinions and ready funny banter.
The joke athon with Ed025 rating posters jokes by teams ie Real Madrid or Raith Rovers during an international break was absolutely awesome :-)
I think Banbury was crowned comedy king at the time wasn't he? :-)

Stoner, metal gooner couldn't handle the abuse he got for being anti Wenger so he changed too raz.

And you are a legend for spelling his name correctly. Lol. How long have you been practicing Dags.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Sep 2017 17:06:44
He's come out guns blazing, no question about it. Should be in the XI for every PL match unless there is an extenuating reason (injury, suspension, etc) . And at LWB.

In my book he's our Player of the Year at this early stage.

Wow UEFA are charging arsenal for cologne bringing if reports are to be believed 17000 extra fans. I'd tell them to ram there rubbish second rate comp. The European Coca Cola cup.

Believable0 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - There is nothing to stop Arsenal withdrawing from UEFA competition should they wish to.}

15 Sep 2017 12:48:38
That's interesting ed. I didn't know that. Would there be likely ramifications that we would get excluded from the champions league or could we just leave and that be that for this year.

Agree0 Disagree3

{Ed002's Note - They wouldn't tell you - that is not their place.}

15 Sep 2017 12:56:37
Firstly, Cologne didn't bring 17,000 fans, these individuals would have made their own arrangements to fly over independently of the club.
Secondly, Arsenal have been charged with blocking stairways in the away fans section, which if correct could have been disasterous if a serious problem such as a terrorist attack occured.
However, Cologne have quite rightly been hit with four counts.
My own opinion is that we should simply be warned of the possible consequences of blocking stairways. Whilst Cologne should have their fans banned from all further away Europa League matches this season and suffer a fine equating to the total amount they recieive for playing this match.

Agree3 Disagree3

15 Sep 2017 13:21:59
From what I can gather they let the home fans out first. And that was for the obvious reason of fans clashing and secondly most of the Arsenal fans were using the tube and the Piccadilly line was due to close at 12 ish so then would have had another huge potential problem. As it happened there were no casualties and 5 arrests so in hindsight it was a lucky escape. If they did lock stairways then it's catch 22. I personally believe if they let the koln fans out at the same time as the Arsenal fans things would have been much much worse. But as I say no real damage in the end.

Agree0 Disagree1

15 Sep 2017 13:39:33
I think all parties need to take on the chin the bits they didn't do as much as they should and could have to prevent this happening plus accept with good grace the bits where they should have dealt with the situation better once it had happened.
If we are fined for blocking an exit fair play and let's let colonge worry about there own house.
If I was Arsenal I wouldn't make tickets available through the club for the return match in Germany as a preventative measure.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Sep 2017 15:25:41
62 I think you have hit the nail on the head. Take the medicine for last night, on both sides. Make every effort to avoid a repeat, when we visit Cologne as well as when we host Red Star - a side whose fans are notorious for making a ruckus.

Can't let this be a call to arms for other visiting teams' supporters who don't want to play nice.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Sep 2017 16:16:38
Hi Cat mate, I think if you do all you can you leave yourself little to beat yourself up about if things don't work out as you would have hoped, if you've made mistakes then put your hands up and admit it because people are usually more accepting of your apology if you offer it without being forced to do so.
No one is perfect and accepting it is a strength most admire.

15 Sep 2017 17:09:54
No doubt about that 62 - it's true for supporters and clubs alike.

Wilshere played reasonably well during the shirt time he featured.
As Cazorla is injured, I would like to see Wilshere given every opportunity to replace him, as he as similar a player you will get to Cazorla.

Agree4 Disagree1

15 Sep 2017 13:42:05
Agree with you all, Wilshere is a ready-made replacement for Cazorla when fit. He is even slightly more physical than Santi in his defending. That also comes with the constant threat of him being injured.

Perhaps this history, and natural maturation, have led him to be less rash/ reckless with his body. I would like to see him used more and more to get match-sharp; he is one who will at least push for a starting spot. Some of our current squad players don't seem terribly concerned to do so.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Sep 2017 14:12:43
Le Coq and Wilshere If and when both fit of course? It's not failed yet so it does have the advantage over Xhaka and Ramsey combo that's tried and failed.
Le Coq and Caz worked well together so maybe just maybe it would the answer to our biggest problem area.
