Chelsea got thumped today.

Get Mourinho a medic.

Oh wait.....

I'm just watching his post match interview, I'm not sure what game he's talking about but it's definitely not today's match

He's such a douche

Loved the city fans singing 'your getting sacked in the morning' to the Chelsea Meds when they came on to give treatment

I think the vast majority of the country enjoyed that result Dags mate, mourinho does make it very very easy to enjoy his all to rare comeuppances :-) its a shame because he is an excellent manager but just a horrible person when doing his job.

Today was the first time Le Coq has looked out of place since becoming our DM, against Chelsea city utd he's looked composed and reliable but today like many others he just tried way too hard.
Sanchez Caz and Aaron all rushed shots they would normally take that extra second to place, Thierry Henry just said when talking about Aguero " when you have the ball in their box you shouldn't panic the defending team should be the ones doing the panicking "
We just need to get our mentality right and we will definitely challenge, against west Ham we we're way too relaxed and today way too uptight if we can get the balance right we will be fine IMO

Believable1 Unbelievable1

16 Aug 2015 21:39:59
He's still young and learning his trade.

He will have more good days than bad but he has to learn to stay disciplined and protect the defence.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 22:01:20
Kind of agree, it all seems to click in to place naturally with a few wins, then momentum builds confidence and everyone relaxes.
We must beat Liverpool though, big game.

Thought we did well today - showed plenty of creativity and then some steal.
Coq was lucky to stay on but we were unlucky not to be 3 ahead. On the bookings, how did Cabaye not pick up any bookings.....

Ozil was class

If we started off at a full gallup, the worry would be that we run out of steam to soon... Would have liked to have pinched the points v W Ham but not too bothered by the form - its a long season and we will build up too much stronger performances when needed!

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 18:24:01
At this stage of the season, forget performances and players marks out of 10, results count.

They still need another 3 or 4 games to get fitness levels up, that's all that counts.

Look at Chelsea. 2 games, scored 2 conceded 5 and 1 point.

Fantastic win today. Palace are one of the most improved teams in 2015.

Not many teams will take 3 points from them in their own back yard.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

16 Aug 2015 19:12:41
3pts at Palace is always a big ask and second game in even bigger, I wouldn't have been gutted with a point so absolutely delighted with 3pts

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2015 13:53:42
DAGS

Palace had one of the worst home records last season mate, i'm afraid I disagree, their home form wasnt good

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 17:41:57
So, Mesut had a cracking game today, he made 47 out of his 48 passes, 37 of which were in Palace's half.
Created 5 chances and got one assist.

For me, someone who's got a ridiculous Mesut Özil bias (imagine Dags and Charlie and then some) Souness summed it up brilliantly for me when he said that 'Ozil sometimes looks like he's lazy or he doesn't care, but Özil sees things that other players aren't aware of'
Casing point for that, was the little pass to Ramsey in the box, which Ramsey squandered.
I was watching him, expecting the pass to Monreal out left, only for the little dink into the box for Ramsey.
Superb play.

I think he, more than anyone in the team would benefit more from a top class forward.
Yes, Giroud scored a great goal today, but one good finish doesn't prove his quality.
At times today his link up was poor and he often drifted away from the centre.
I'm still running with my belief he's a solid option, but not good enough to be our first choice.

Another worry for me, is Koscielny hasn't looked himself lately.
I'm sure that's just to do with match fitness and he'll pick up soon, but I'd like to see a bit of ruthlessness.
Yes, he was a monster last year, but complacency will become an issue for some players.

If Kos or Per start to play poorly, we really should give Gabriel a game.
At this point, we've just paid £16m to give him English lessons!

Believable2 Unbelievable0

16 Aug 2015 18:41:30
Agreed - thought Kos was all over the place in the first half leaving players at the back unmarked... He sorted himself out in second half. Thought Nacho kept getting wrong side of players in first half but sorted himself out also.

Agreed on Ozil, thought he was class and makes us tick. We must take our chances more or we will suffer.

We need a little more discipline and shape but thought we showed silk & steal

See moaninho is asking for even more money to compete - Lovely to see an annoyed Terry also!

Back to us - Coq needs to show more discipline and we need a back up for him as Rambo is NOT going to sit in front of the back 4 to protect them.

Well played boys! Good answer to last week's questions

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 19:14:45
To be fair SY its the first time Le Coq hasn't looked assured in the DM role, I think like many others he just tried to hard today.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 23:53:04
G62, point taken but he needs to figure out why he is in the team. Win the ball and pass to Oxil or Santi - whoever is nearest. He did that last season and needs to get back to that as he is drifting forward and leaving back 4 unprotected. Goal today came from lack of protection.
Main point though is cover for Le Coq as he won't play every game due to injury, fatigue or suspension - we need cover quick.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 16:57:58
I thought we played very well and we have an amazing offensive team. We just aren't good enough defensively. My heart was pounding the whole game. I am not sure where it needs to be fixed the outside backs are good, koscelny great I am guessing le coq (who played very well last season) and mert need to be upgraded or challenged . We just don't defend well as a team. Thoughts?

Outside backs? Are arsenal now an American football team

Agree0 Disagree2

16 Aug 2015 18:03:45
Lol Browgun,

I think Darren is from Tampa, hence the name.

Although, it could be worse if he put an 'X' at the end :-)

Agree2 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 18:05:16
Huh? There are no outside backs in American football good effort though.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 18:05:18
I agree Darren, Coq drifted so far forward to day and was lucky not to be sent off, making stupid (but important) challenges when he got turned and caught out of position.. His job is to sit in front of the back four, not stream forward when we are attacking.. There seemed to be very little discipline today as a defensive unit, instead of playing the simple ball we tried the most outrageous flicks that put the pressure back on.

Ramsey for me seems to think he is untouchable, some of the flicks and passes he tried to play where sheer madness, like the flick volley he tried, why do it.. Play like that when we are 2,3,4-0 up not 1-1 away to a good palace team.

Going forward we looked good, once Sanchez is firing on all cylinders he will finish the chances he wasted today. great win and a very important 3 points but we need to shape up fast and iron out these problems

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 19:18:31
To be fair I don't know anything about American football . God awful game imo. I don't even know why it's called football it should be called soft arse rugbyball with headgear. But outside backs must be baseball or that bounce ball net ball oh yeah basketball. Why is it call basketball ball where's the basket? Unless it's a reference to the net. I wouldn't like a basket where everything you put in it falls out. Glad we have football where you actually use your feet and never your hands. Unless your the goalie of course

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2015 02:21:56
Well I played for 25 years including several reserve games for arsenal when George Armstrong was the manager. That is what they used to call them when I played. Was sent to Barnett pretty quickly lol. What are they called these days the defenders who play on the outside. Please enlighten brown gun since you know so much.

Just messing Rosie . It usually gets a bite. That's all. Good start for united. happy?

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2015 10:28:02
I'll always bite on the American Football hooks, I'm a big fan of the sport!

Personally I'm pleased with our start. Being solid at the back is so important in this league and with the midfield signings this year we aren't hanging the defence out to dry. Particularly pleased with Shaw and Darmian.

Obviously going forward we have started poorly, Memphis is doing some good things but I won't be putting too much expectation on his shoulders just yet. Rooney doesn't suit the role he is being asked to play and I hope there are plans to sign a no.9 to at least compete with him. Currently he is playing like someone who knows his place in the team is assured no matter what.

How you feeling about your start? Good 3pts for you yesterday.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2015 11:27:23
6 points from 2 games is a good start. Watched darmien last year good player. I always feel Rooney is better playing off a main striker as he likes to be involved. If he's up top on his own and doesn't get the service he disappears . Yeah the palace game was tougher than people imagined . It's important with us to get a few wins or we always look shakey. A good win against scousers next will put us in good stead. We still need a striker and competition for le coq. And then happy days

My thoughts exactly, although Ozil showed some promise today. To be honest, we aren't that bad position considering Chelsea's result today. It seems like the issue wit the medics has affected the team morale.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 13:12:19
Ed's, is there any news on potential holding midfield targets. In my opinion, we don't struggle to score goals and get them from all over the pitch but need more than coq in that role.

Thanks alot

A rather fortunate day at the office but hey ho were off and running :-)
Forget getting a striker we desperately need a good shrink, 80% physically there but only 30% mentally.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

16 Aug 2015 16:02:52
That's a bit harsh. Thought it was a decent performance. Played some cracking stuff in spells and dug in at the end.

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 16:50:02
Fair comment Ubi but to me we looked stage struck after last week and a team that was trying way too hard to prove themselves to themselves.
We just need to relax a bit more say what's done is done and play more naturally. Lots and lots of snap shots straight into opponents rather than that little bit of composure which is there when your confidence is high.

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 15:07:47
Ramsey is becoming so infuriating to watch at the moment. When he does the simple thing he's fantastic and incredibly effective. However, he's too busy thinking he's Zidane with all of those little flicks that he's not pulling off. It's a shame Jack's made of terra cotta otherwise I'd have him starting until Rambo gets his head sorted and remembers what he's good at.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

16 Aug 2015 16:07:46
Your criticism might hold more weight if you hadn't already had a dig before we even kicked off. No mention of a much better defensive performance and a cracking result I see? That's a surprise.

Agree3 Disagree1

16 Aug 2015 17:21:37
Ever notice that Ramsey played his best centrally when Arteta was healthy - now the Coq/Santi partnership is working...

Just sayin'

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 18:52:19
I agree with that Cangun. As soon as he was playing in the middle he looked much better. Not his best, but better.

I'm a massive Ramsey fan but it's really frustrating to watch him attempt all of these fancy flicks that only come off a handful of times when there is a simple option to maintain posession available. Did well to get into position for Ozil to set him up though, was a decent effort as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 14:26:51
We are better than last week but still look like a team a good two weeks from being ready for the season to start, strange after what seemed a decent pre season, need to calm down stop the desperation and stop treating the ball like a hot potato, much more composer needed.
Palace have been very good and might yet get better in the 2nd half.

Coq has to come off or he will be sent off.. He's been caught out of position to many times in this first half.. Drop Ramsey in next to Cazorla and put Ox on the wing.. Simple

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Aug 2015 14:32:24
Its a gamble by Arsene leaving him on and a big test for Le Coq now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Another assist for Ozil and a great finish from Giroud.

Looking like we are reacting to our first game

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Aug 2015 13:40:05
Great counter from Arsenal and another guilt edge chance created by Ozil. Why would you drop someone who has created 150 chances in 1.5 seasons.......

Hopefully Belerin with give us the width down the right we need.

Sanchez looks sharp - big call by Wenger but unlike some, he sees them in training

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Aug 2015 13:01:49
Too many square pegs in round holes! Ramsey is nowhere near as effective out wide. Why drop ox? Why panic and play Sanchez when on the evidence of his brief appearance last week he is at least one more week away...
When fully fit coq plays alongside cazorla, Ramsey or wilshere.ozil plays in hole, NOT wide. IMO Sanchez and ox play wide and giroud/Walcott is a 50/50 shot.
In short, today's team worries me..

Believable0 Unbelievable1

16 Aug 2015 12:47:11
Arsenes playing HIS best 11 which means no place for the Ox, not my chioces but hey ho Com'on the gunners

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Aug 2015 12:46:07
Just seen the team sheet.

Dropping Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who's been our best player in both the Community shield and last weeks display, seems a bit mad to me.

Especially as it's because Arsene's trying to shoe horn Ramsey and Santi into the same team.

At the end of the day, Cazorla is better than Ramsey at the moment.
But only when played centrally.
He got dropped from his favoured No10 role, for Özil and adapted brilliantly to the deeper role, forming a superb and shock partnership with Coquelin.

Ramsey hasn't been the player of 2013/14 recently, but he's still a cracking player, just currently, Cazorla is better.

If you stick Ramsey out on the right or Santi on the left, they just don't have the influence they do when central.
Especially in Ramsey's case.

If we're being realistic, we need to drop Ramsey for a while and play Ox and Alexis on the wings, give us some real width.
Even though Alexis cuts in, he gives us more width than Santi would out wide on the left and as for Ramsey, he doesn't offer much wide at all, he's not that quick and he's just better when he's got direct running from the Middle.

Unless we drop Özil (which won't happen) we can only afford to play one of Santi and Ramsey at the moment and it should be Santi.

Wenger's loyalty and stubbornness when sticking with players, can cost us more often than not (I'm not jumping on 'Wenger Out' at all, just making a point) sometimes you need to be a bit ruthless.

That all said, we could batter them 6-0 with Santi and Ramsey hat tricks and Its down to Arsene's genius and I'll look a right tool.

Maybe that's why I'm not the Arsenal boss....

Believable1 Unbelievable0

16 Aug 2015 12:44:28
Ox on the bench to make way for Sanchez.... Well done Wenger you genius! Why not bench someone who's not playing well since you keep playing them out of position? Ie Ramsey or Ozil! Fed up of Wenger playing teams with no with, symmetry or balance, benching our best players to accommodate for a system that doesn't work.

Palace playing with all the pace, our only pacey player on the pitch is Sanchez. Today will be very tough for us, Giroud will get no service, all our wide men will cut in and give us no width... don't see us winning today.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

16 Aug 2015 12:40:05
So the ox becomes the fall guy for last weeks defeat, why on earth is he left out. Wenger can't break the bermuda triangle that is ramsay cazorla ozil. Oh well at least the legend is back.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Aug 2015 12:37:32
Really disappointed in Wengers choice to play cazorla on the left again, to many attacking mids packed into one area, chamberlain should of started with Sanchez on the wings...

Tough game at Palace today. We really need a result and a proper performance from the team. All the talk from the players about being serious challangers for the title, well they need to step up to the mark, starting today. No more excuses, Ozil at his best is unreal, at his worst is a liability. One good performance every now and again is not good enough, same goes for Giroud, Walcott and a few others. Wenger says he expects a reaction after the West Ham defeat, we the fans demand one.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Aug 2015 09:45:52
So mourinho moaning on about arsene again, will somebody please tell him to shut his mouth, he is seriously a terrible person, intesly dislike him..I know many of our gunner fans admire him more than arsene and wanted arsene to shake his hand, that's what frustrates me really, if someone taps up your player, calls u voyeur, a specialist in failure, has a dig at you every time, like today, you should really have no self-respect whatsoever if you still want to shake that person's hand.. unlimited money + park the bus football and not a single player from youth team, donno why everyone loves him so much really..why won't he at least go after van gaal..tired of seeing his jealosy..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Aug 2015 10:33:17
Hes bullied a girl because he got a bad result and wants to deflect the attention from his egotistical behaviour so how best to do this?
Arsene he's always good for a row plus if he can get under his skin before the place game soooo much the better.

16 Aug 2015 10:43:03
When you sum it up like that Wesley your bang on . I agree wenger shouldn't shake his hand. But on the flip side of the coin he is like ferguson incarnate . He has an arrogance and attitude that seems to empower his teams and that never say die mentally. I don't like the style of football and he's a terrible looser he cleverly detracts from his own teams shortfalls in defeat and in effect spares them the due criticism. Which ever way you slice it up he's a proven time and again winner. If you have ever played street fighter he is like the annoying button basher that always wins with no style. But like they say nice guys finish last

Just 2 weeks left lads.
I seriously reckon wenger must go. I mean common, we clearly don't have the required depth in DM and striker positions.
Why isn't he even trying to put a bid in?
Kondogbia
Krychowiak
Schneiderlin
Vidal
They all would've got into our team BUT NO, Mr wenger thinks they are not good enough to play for our team and would rather keep flamini and arteta.
Personally we should've got gustavo in 2013.
We had agreed a deal with bayern for 14 million, Wolfsburg came, offered 19 and BOOm they had a deal.
Why can't he sign the players he wants quickly?!.
It isn't his money.
Had we offered 55 million for Suarez in 2013 instead of buying Ozil and next summer bought back fabregas instead of Sanchez we could've won Atleast one title in the past two years!.
Imagine Suarez in 2013
Fabregas in 2014
I'm still happy with Ozil and Sanchez but I think Suarez and fabregas would've taken us to the next level.

Welcome to 2015 Shri, mate we all know we've missed soooo many chances to put wrongs right over the years and weaknesses have gone unaddressed season after season but right now we are at our strongest for a very long time.
Not you me or anyone else knows if Theo down the middle works given an extended run there, we all have opinions on it but until its tried and failed or succeeded NOBODY KNOWS.
We have not ignored repeated failings this season and we have signed a very top keeper for the first time in over a decade so just give the team a chance and then if your right and we are 4th place champions again feel free to remind us all of your fantastic knowledge but until then its all just opinions yours mine and everyone else's.
I would welcome additions but am not unhappy as we are and should we fail to mount a real proper challenge this season will put my hands up and say I was wrong, but until then Com'on the Arsenal.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2015 10:46:05
