I do agree with Arsene on the January window should be scrapped, it only serves to help our opponents improve and strengthenn their weaknesses

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If you saying the others can improve & strengthen then why can't we?

Agree0 Disagree0

What I'm saying is others are keen to use it if they need and we (Arsene) are far from keen to use whether we need it or not.
Closing it would hurt our opponents much much more than us so it would be in our interest if it didn't exist

Agree0 Disagree0

I like the window. Wenger can bore off trying to run and change football for his own good.

Agree0 Disagree0

As far as i'm concerned, it's just something else for him to moan about and use to deflect any criticism. The window is there, it's there for everyone, its part of the game, like a pit stop in racing and if it wasn't there he'd be moaning there should be one. Its not like diving or wrong decisions, its the same for all. All wenger seems to do is moan about everything he can find to moan about. Use it and win, fail to and lose.

Very well said Steve.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2015 07:37:16
Priceless!

"All wenger seems to do is moan about everything he can find to moan about"

Bless him, at least he's only doing it in January! ;-)

Steve is making more sense everyday. Scary

Kristian Bielik.

Just seen the YouTube clips.

They are obviously 'cherry picked' clips, but jeez, the kid looks awesome.

He's not for now, but definitely one for the future.

Think we should play him in cup games but throw him on from time to time in the first team.

Maybe against the smaller teams like Everton, when we are 4 or 5 up.

(Waits for Ed025's response) smiley face.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - you could play him against liverpool or city dags...when you are 5 or 6 down.. :)

16 Jan 2015 19:37:52
Oohh

As expected, good come back Ed 😉

Agree0 Disagree0

He will be involved more that you think dags I reckon

Derby,

More through necessity than choice mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2015 18:01:09
Winston Reid.

West Ham want £8m.

Wenger wants to pay £5m.

We need him and he fits our requirements.

C'mon Wenger, pay the extra £3m before it goes to an auction in the Summer.

PS, Spurs are willing to pay the asking price, so why can't we?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Funny enough Dags just posted something similar in replying to your poet below regarding utd/Hummel's and us/Reid

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2015 18:30:30
Just seen it G62,

Totally agree mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2015 18:51:25
g62,

In the last 12 months United have been going to buy, Pogba, Ronaldo, Vidal, Hummels, Garay, Schneiderlin, Strootman, Benetia, Sneijder, Contraoa, Wanyama, Bale, Coleman, Dustman, Butcher, Baker and is phucking dog.

I've actually lost count of the 10,000 plus players who are imminently joining them.

It is going to be some squad, what with that legend Van Galloping nob rot in charge of them.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im not sure you have spelt his name right red dog...but its near enough for me mate..

Typical Wenger

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2015 19:41:03
All them players are good, apart from Dustman.

He's a has bin

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2015 19:45:27
And by all accounts Kim Jong-un is a really nice bloke, well so it said in the papers.

Gotta be true then. ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

All true Red no question there mate but he has brought players in after being in the job for a short space of time and is very very likely going to be doing it again.
This will come at a huge cost to the club but they don't in grave that on the trophies when they hand them out.
We can't and shouldn't try to compete financially with city utd or chavs but we should be the best we can be on a more than decent budget

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2015 19:51:29
Sorry about that spelling ed, I thought I was close ;-)

Actually spoke to a United fan at work yesterday who said he'd rather have Van Gaal than Jurgen Klopp!

Takes all sorts.

Agree0 Disagree0

What is Jenkinson worth - 5 mil? Straight up for Reid?

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2015 22:24:12
I would take that Red.

Agree0 Disagree0

And what did jenkinson do to upset you red. he's arsenal and he's got promise, your chucking him on the scrap heap quick.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dags shame on you.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2015 04:06:39
Jenkinson has real promise. Dare I say, he's a better RB than Chambers and will probably turn out to be a better player.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2015 07:22:42
Steve,

I love Jenks, he has Sanchez's work rate but we desperately need a CH, and if it means using him as a bargaining chip to broker a move for Reid, I would take it mate, albeit with a touch of regret.

Agree0 Disagree0

I like Jenkinson nothing wrong with him at all, but with Chambers and Bellerin and him its pretty crowded over there for back up RB and as Dags says we are light at CB.

At the end of the day he is good but not great and for a back up, I would think Bellerin has more upside.

Agree0 Disagree0

There ie always that revolutionary idea adopted by some other clubs where we part with some money and keep Jenks as well as get Reid.
Just saying

Agree0 Disagree0

What a great new idea G62, why did'nt the arsenal board think of that? You're a genius!

Agree0 Disagree0

Gunner I bet you max out your credit card you old shop aholic you.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2015 16:24:17
I think most of us would love Schneiderlin in an Arsenal shirt.

Question.
Would you accept us finishing 5th and definitely signing him in the summer?

No if's or but's and no changing the question.

Simple question so simple answer.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - no..CL qualification is so important to keep the rest of the squad happy..

That's why AW will not sign him. It must be HIS decision not the fans.

Agree0 Disagree0

No way and we are ending up 3rd

Agree0 Disagree0

Hood
Im with you I think we will be 3rd

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2015 04:09:41
Well seeing as we are on course to finish 3rd/4th I would say wait til summer and get world class player rather than a good player. Such as Khedira, Gundogan or Strootman. (I know he has never been mentioned but he suits our needs perfectly).

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2015 15:59:31
not arsenal related but I was wondering if any eds had any opinion on how much support david genola would have in running for fifa presidency? I know he's an ex spurs player but I would welcome anyone that could shake fifa up

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Measured how?}

A fair amount I would expect, since he is an out and out footballer (or former footballer) with, you would assume, a genuine passion for the game as a whole - not a former secretary of the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation. My guess is it is a highly unlikely outcome however and, obviously, I have no idea of how competent he is of carrying out the role.

Like Wenger said in his press conference though, everyone would accuse the French of taking over football if it happened - what with Platini being head of UEFA aswell aha.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think its highly unlikely to TPG. I wouldn't know how you would measure it really ed, I was just wondering if he was a credible candidate with any backing really

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2015 12:22:29
Can one of the eds or someone tell me how good this bielek kid is. Is he one of those needs 3 years to breakthrough or a cesc type where he's good enough now to come straight in? Cheers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - He is a child with a decent reputation. He scores a 47 on the Ed002 goodness scale - that equates to "Potential Future Niftiness" on the scale used by ex-Peruvian international Hugo Sotil.}

"Child with decent reputation"
Very well put sir

Agree0 Disagree0

A rather large child to be precise, and if eds scale ends at 50 I'll be happy

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It runs from 37 to 54.}

16 Jan 2015 16:56:53
Hi Ed02, I know it's difficult to look back and make judgements but to give us some perspective where would you think Cesc and Jack would have been on that scale at the same age

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - 48 "Twinkle Toes" and 45 (Tenderfoot) respectively.

16 Jan 2015 11:10:07
Hey Eds, do any of you know if this 'secret footballer' rumour is true and that schneiderlin deal is agreed for the summer? To be honest, it makes perfect sense and he is the best possible signing for that possible we could make.

Ps: please don't say use the search engine

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about.}

Its an account on Twitter which is apparently a "in the know" account. I would wait and see what happens in the summer which is a time he is likely to move anyway depending on So'ton's position

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2015 11:53:56
One of the premier league footballers has an account on twitter followed by Gary Lineker, Henry Winter et al. He usually gets the news correct. He posted that Schneiderlin to Arsenal is agreed for this summer. Just wondered if you knew if that is the case. Would be awesome

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Try asking on Twitter.}

I can't understand twitter, it sounds like a load of birds making a noise, I've tried to get my budgie to translate but all he says is "pretty boy"

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2015 16:18:53
My budgie broke his leg last week, so I used matches as splints.

Unfortunately, I also used sandpaper to line his cage.
I miss him but he tasted nice with roast potatoes and gravy.

My budgie escaped from his cage and mated with the dog.
I have 3 puppies going cheep if anybody is interested?

Agree0 Disagree0

Simple question; who let the dags out?

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2015 17:48:58
Lol, thanks Saint.

One of my fav songs :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2015 10:25:11
Apparently utd are preparing bids for Hummel's Strootman and Clyne, if true not good news for us.
If they get any or all it wiill push them that little bit further away from us.
I knew it was going to happen but still not nice watching it take shape

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Jan 2015 14:58:04
Well if there other £200mil splurge is anything to go buy they will on exactly the same position next year lol ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2015 17:51:03
Utd are a major threat.

No disrespect to Soton, but I'm still looking at Us and Utd occupying 3rd and 4th.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its a horrible though knowing they are doing everything they can to get Hummel's and hoping Arsene is doing the same on Reid and won't be stubbord for the sake of 5k a week or 500,000 over his own valuation opposed to West hams when knows he's for free in the summer
That's likely to be the difference in 3rd and 4th this season and a real title challenge again next season

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2015 10:23:38
In the press today there are several articles saying that A W is working day & night trying to get new defensive players in. I wish he would make some of that time available in working out new valuations for targeted players as we seem to miss out because of his miserly valuations.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The problem is its the same old official line that Arsene is working day and night to make the thing's we need happen but would anyone really stake their house it?
It may well be true but its been said so many times before its credibility gets less and less each window.
Yes Ozil and Sanchez and 77 million invested in them but still no sign of any real money being spent where its most needed.
There comes a time when people need to actually see to believe

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2015 10:50:41
In all fairness, I often see the bloke at M&S in Whetstone (N20) around the 6pm mark. Perhaps he is working from home?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - maybe he is waiting for whoopsies on the bread...we all know he loves a bargain MJ..

Do many managers do transfer negotiations themselves?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Very, very few.}

16 Jan 2015 09:24:19
Beating city Sunday would be like signing the elusive DM in many ways, it would end our beating big team inferiority complex and give us call a massive lift, second chioce would be a very well deserved point.
But the absolute worst thing that can happen is a narrow defeat and improved on last season performance as it would do nothing but make signings even less likely than they already are.
Crazy as it sounds a melt down 5 0 would do us more good long term that a narrow unfortunate 1 0 defeat, crazy but true

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i dont think a 5-0 defeat would do any good at all G62, especially the eds on this page.. :)

That's a fair comment Ed mate I hadn't thought of that!
I just fear chavski style improved on last season defeat and Arsene thinking there isn't much wrong the existing squad can't put right on its own.
I don't think we'll do anything serious in this window anyway to be honest but thought in the absence of a brilliant result another meltdown might be only thing that would achieve anything at all for us.
Bit selfish there Ed I didn't stop to think of the effect it would have on you mate, sorry

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow great fan of a club hoping that we loose 5-0 just to add a DM and a CB, bravo I must say.

Agree0 Disagree0

Did you not read the whole post Hood?
I hope for a WIN if not a DRAW but failing both those what good would come out of a narrow defeat that convinces Arsene he's on the right lines and things are getting better on there own

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - but what would a drubbing do for confidence?.it may make you feel better G62 to prove yourself right, but 3rd spot could come down to goal difference mate..which would make it not such a good idea..

Just like the Liverpool and Chelsea results did last season?

Agree0 Disagree0

Its not a case of being proven right at all Ed I wish Arsene had been right in the summer and we didn't need a DM and CB and we were now sitting just a point or two off city and chavs mounting a real challenge.
I'd be more than happy to admit how wrong I was if that was the case, but sadly its not and we we're out of the title race in October.
I just want to fix the obvious problems that the whole of football knows exists at last

Agree0 Disagree0

I would like to see him set out like mourinho when he plays big teams away from home, set up not to get beat, although I doubt we have the defencive capabilities for that

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2015 07:01:58
I still fail to understand what has happened to Abou Diaby & Gnabry. Surely, Wenger doesn't expect the fans to believe he still has a calf problem? Gnabry is another mystery.
Taking them and the long term injured into account, that leaves us with a squad of only 20 first team players.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Jan 2015 09:07:08
Gnabry is back in training - saw some pictures posted last week around the web think he had a setback after his initial return but that last part is speculation

Diaby is just a lost cause unfortunately - last season we would have to worry about where he is.

Arteta has just been announced as 6 weeks not 3 months and Wilshere returns next month with Danny Welbeck back in 2 weeks.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gnarby has been and continues to be mystery as at times were Rosicky and Campbell absence, has Flamini spontaneously combusted? He seems to have disappeared now as wel, time to l call in Scooby doo me thinks

Agree0 Disagree0

Flamini is in the training photos from 10/1/15 on Getty Images. I think he is possibly available but Wenger feels that Le Coq is doing a good job - even when he comes off the ground 2 footed at a Stoke City player.

Wenger has not updated on Gnarby since 5/11/14 (see Arsenal website). With Walcott back and Sanchez destroying defenders, it is likely that he will play U21 games and come in as a rotation player for the smaller games.

Agree0 Disagree0

I wonder if the signing of Bielek, and the fact that Wenger is going to put him straight in the first team squad, will also co-inside with an announcement of Diarby's immediate retirement?

Agree0 Disagree0

"Wenger feels that Le Coq is doing a good job - even when he comes off the ground 2 footed at a Stoke City player". That's not only good enough to keep him in the team MJ, but in my book, its worthy of an offer for the "keys to islington", especially if it was at Shawcross, about knee height and he connected. .

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2015 16:02:32
I like the guy. He has been loaned out to various clubs but was happy to wait his turn and perform for the club. As he gets to know his new role, and with the Arteta absence, I think he will, I am sure he will only get better.

Unfortunately it wasn't the nugget Shawcross - I think Ramsey would want first go!

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2015 00:13:20
Gutted we have missed out on Marco reus. Bargain he is. Not sure its the best move for him but you can't turn them down really

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Just what we didn't need, another Rembrandt to hang over the cracks to stop the new bypass coming through
Music to our title challenging hopes if you ask me mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

No idea what your on about
